Christmas Double Day

Hi bloggers!  It's time for another Christmas double day!  There are quite a few pics for this first card as I was really trying to capture the beauty of the Sparkle Texture paste for you. I started by spreading Ocean Spray, Periwinkle and Polar White STP across a piece of acetate.  I set it aside to dry overnight.  Next I cut a piece of white card and used the Frosty Frame to cut an aperture in the middle of it.  I glued it to the reverse side of the acetate with the sparkle texture paste (so the paste was away from the card) and reinserted the die back into the cut out area.  I ran a thin line of dries clear glue around the edge and sprinkled it with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry, then added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  I cut a larger piece of coconut white card and embossed it with the Snowflake Mosaic embossing folder.  I seated the topper on it and added two snowflakes to the corner as accents.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it out and added it to the centre of the snowflake tag from the Frosty Frame.  I attached it to the centre of the aperture with foam.  White on white mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two was a demo from my last set of ODS shows.  It is a very quick and easy card, great for batch making too.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and stamped my sentiment in black in the lower corner.  Next I cut the Lattice Ribbon die in gold mirror card and extended it to make it longer to fit the card.  I glued it into place along the left side of the card.  I cut several of the Classic Poinsettia dies out of ruby red card and coated the petal with Red Glitter Kiss before assembling them.  I seated them in a cluster on the ribbon lattice and added Berry Boughs cut out of several shades of green card.  A white satin messy bow was added underneath the largest flower and several Holly Swirls cut out of white card were used as accents.  White and gold card mats and layers were used to complete the card.  the finished dimensions are 7"  x 8 1/2" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed both cards today!  All for now, Sue x

Stunning cards, so gorgeous. Can't choose today, both so beautifully elegant, I love them both.
Myra, congratulations to both your granddaughters on their GCSE and A level results and to all other proud parents and grandparents who have little stars in their families. My granddaughter Rachael is showjumping on Saturday as part of her GCSE PE Sport course, fingers crossed for her.
June, you do have a busy weekend coming up, hope you have a wonderful time and a birthday meet up with your twin.
Elaine, I'm sorry Andrew has not been well this time, he can't fool his Mum although he is trying hard. Big hugs for him and Helen too, special ones for you my lovely friend.
Donita, I too was stunned that you have been in pain and I did not realise, you are always so supportive of others. I hope you have better days and less pain for the future, my dear.
Lynda, enjoy your Hollibobs, why not have some Holijuice, it may do you goods.
Rosemary, are the meds helping, hope so lovely lady.
Tres there is nothing I can say that will make you feel better but know that we are all hoping for better news for you and Charlie dog.
Got to ring GP today, my blood test is back and trying to get past the receptionist takes more strength than I have. Apparently the result is out of range for the liver, whatever that means, that is all she would say.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly, saddened and missing friends. Pp glad you are back *******

Morning sue and all Wilsonettes, oh yes I love both of these, I think the first one just edges it for me but really they are both fantastic.

Pam I reiterate all you have said above, you are so good to condense everything down for us, especially when you are not feeling 100% yourself. Hope the news from the drs. is not too bad, and yes I know what you mean about receptionists. As you say a busy weekend for me, going to the hairdressers first thing today, then meeting up with my eldest son, then back home and my friend is round this afternoon, so it is al go.

Stay safe, heathy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue. Two incredible cards! Love the classiness of the second but you had me at sparkle texture paste with the first! Brilliant idea of using STP with acetate - bet you don't need 3 guesses to know what I'll be trying today!
Pam, it sounds as though you have something similar to what my mum had earlier this year (although she had her gallbladder out 2 years ago). It took three months for her liver to get back to normal, it was to do with the infection. Just keep taking the meds, plenty of rest, and give yourself time to heal.
Congratulations to everyone with youngsters receiving gcse and a level results, I know how hard they will have worked. Hugs to all, with a special one to Charlie dog. Sue xxx

Hi Sue,

Wow!...the first card is fabulous enough with it's texture paste background but the second is an absolute stunner, love, love, love it....

Myra - congratulations to both your granddaughters on their GCSE results - I'm guessing that the family stress levels must have been through the roof but now you can all celebrate their achievements...

Pam - I don't think that receptionists are allowed to interpret test results just in case they get it wrong - having said that, I know from experience that some can be obstructive just for the fun of it!...

Dear Sue and All of You,

The first one is intriguing but I got lost trying to understand whether you look at the sparkle paste through the acetate (like in the stained glass technique) or if the texture of the sparkle paste faces the recipient and the smooth part of the acetate faces the back. Then is the sparkle paste/acetate and snow frame together raised with mounting foam? Or is the snow frame raised away from the sparkle paste/acetate?

Anyway, I bet it's mesmerizing in real life.

Then I tried to picture myself making 20 to 30 of the second card. All those berry branches! So many poinsettia "petals" (which I don't have) plus extending the Lattice ribbon (also don't have). And the thin gold layer would use acres of gold. But the part I like best is that the Holly Swirls are in white. So economical. Maybe the whole thing in white. Or with the poinsettia checkerboard ribbon done in red. See what starts to happen in our brains when you share?

Thank you for what happens in our brains when you share.

So I didn't mean to sound so dramatic when I said pain. I had an infection in my foot that didn't quite clear up, and I might have had another bout with Lyme, so the doctor gave me an antibiotic that covered both. I figure my body was using all its resources fighting invaders. The only way I knew it was pain was that one night I worked late trying to write a story as well as the topic demanded, and I realized I was so caught up in it that my body went invisible. Nothing hurt. And now the antibiotics seem to be having an effect, and nothing hurts.

You are such a caring bunch.

Maria, I don't know what you said or when you said it, but several people have responded in a way that makes my heart go out to you. Whatever it is, you're not alone.

June Smith, have a brilliant Big Birthday weekend. Is it easy to get gifts for your twin? Does she look as young and as happy as you? i hope it's a weekend with a high frequency of cakes.

Love,
Donita

Hi Sue firstly have you done a YouTube video for the first one it is SO glorious but not so easy to follow cos I'm a thicko lol the second one is beautiful also and one I definitely will be having a try at but with sparkly card for the flowers as I haven't indulged in sparkly texture paste because there are so many dies and stamps to buy first but I will get around to it, bit of sad news, my local craft shop closed down recently the owner retired and a range has opened up not very far away, she said if a range did open up she would shut down, so sad the big stores are killing the small ones and online buying also, and I'm as guilty at that as the next person, anyway crafty hugs to all Johanna

But then you presented us with the second one and that has the edge on the first one because they are MY COLOURS, Red Glitter Kiss on red card and cutting poinsettias out from it is a WINNER EVERY TIME. I just love that bold and beautiful red. And that with the gold and white, just superb.

Hi Sue,

If I will ever make a card as the first one, I'll frame it and keep it for me. The beauty of this card took my breath away and made me wonder if I could ever create anything close to this perfect winter card.It reminds me of those silent and cozy nights when, as a child, I was watching the snowflakes dancing in the air, and I was wondering who was making these small and sparkle wonders. Stunning. Thank you, Sue for creating a fairy tale card.
Second card is a traditional Christmas card, beautiful and elegant, what most of people will expect to find in their mail box. Thank you for the inspiration.

Marie – You have a great sense of humor, dear lady!
Pam – With so many antibiotics that you had to take, the result of the tests is not going to be a big surprise for your GP, I believe.Hope you’ll feel better soon. You have to … the launch is around the corner (I hope) , you cannot miss it, right? Send a big but gentle hug to you. Good luck to your granddaughter tomorrow!
Elaine –So glad that Andrew felt better yesterday. I wish to read only good news on the blog. Hugs for you.
June - Hope you’ll have the weekend of your dreams!
Myra - Congrats to your granddaughters!
Crew Trish – Hope the doctor appointment went well.
Donita – I feel less guilty now. Thanks. Take care.
PP & Laine – Who is the cat? Who is the mouse?

Have a great weekend everyone

Hello Sue,
Card number 1 was the winner, and then I saw card number 2!!! It's so beautiful and gorgeous that I'm afraid number 1 became number 2.
Pam, I do hope you get some good results and wish your granddaughter good luck tomorrow.
Maria, I don't know what's happening but I send you love, my friend.
Pat L, I commented to Myra that the girls have obviously got their brains from their Granddad, so I'm not sure if she's talking to me yet! (Peace at last ha ha). Thinking about Sarah and wondering how she is doing.
Donita, reading Pam's comment makes me think that you've been in pain and poorly. I am sorry to read that and see today that things seem to be getting better. Long may it continue.
Carmen, don't ever feel guilty. We all support and help each other on here. Although I joke and maybe crack a funny, I mean it when I say that I hope people are improving or getting better.
PP and Laine, I hope you girls are behaving and I will ring you Yvonne, just summoning the strength to do it! ha ha.
Elaine, I see Andrew has been a bit better today and I pray that things will continue to improve for him.
I've missed lots of things over the last week as I haven't been able to get in every day, so I apologise if I've missed anything or anyone.
love to all

Agree with Maureen above in think number one was a winner until I saw the second. Equal first place is the only option for these gorgeous cards.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Ooh, i just adore Christmas card two fer Fridays, double the treat, triple the delight! As always, its very difficult to choose a favourite between these two beauties, particularly when they are both so very different in style and colouring. I love the first one and the unique way that you have utilised the sparkle texture paste, the colours are outstanding, i only wish that i could see the sparkles intensity in person because no matter how sophisticated cameras become, they will never be able to recreate its charm and spectacular beauty. The second card is truly classical in colouring and style, the poinsettias are a true godsend to any Christmas themed card and perhaps my Best Buy yet, they are enhanced superbly by the Glitter Kiss. I think, at a push, my love of all things texture paste related persuades me of card ones desirability, though i would be just as pleased to display the second one on my mantelpiece
I got my wrists slapped by Yvonne of all people for not commenting on the blog yesterday, i had a super busy day getting a new set of nails done in Stirling, my nails were in a shocking state, the nail is coming away from the nail bed at the corners of a few of my nails and Lizzie my technician said that it is down to the consistently poor condition of my health. My nails are really important to me, frivolous though it may seem, i have lost them all on a number of occasions so having them is a real treat for me and something I don't take for granted. Poor health can pose many barriers in the way we live our lives, a fact that is all too apparent to many of you sadly. I look at what i have to deal with on a daily basis and always remind myself that many are having to contend with much, much more, its important to look at the bigger picture i feel rather than becoming constrained by not just our bodies, but our minds as well.
Anyways, as you will have correctly anticipated, a lengthy conversation with my nemesis last night was the final straw, i was left feeling exhausted, demoralised and grateful for a bit of peace and quiet:-)
Carmen, you don't have to be a fellow aristocrat to be my friend, the position is yours and in fact i actually quite like slumming it with the lower classes....unlike Yvonne who wasn't born to her position and looks on those without a title with disdain! She's insecure and needs her ego massaged as a result. As to which of us would be the cat or mouse i think that i am clearly suited to being a feline as i am elegant, have beautiful markings and like to sleep about 12 hours per day:-), whereas Yvonne has a clear affinity with rodents, remember that the Black Death was carried by rodent, so approach at your own risk:-)
Myra, husbands don't count as a social circle and neither do those unfortunate enough to live next door to you:-) huge congrats to your very talented grand daughters, wherever did they get their brains from?
Pam, as Carmen said, don't worry about the spike in your liver enzymes, mine did exactly the same last week when i had my infection and was taking antibiotics. Things should hopefully calm down for you just as soon as you are on the mend after your operation. Hugs
Marie, well done on getting a sale for your house, you don't say if you are happy about it but i am guessing that being able to craft again and create a creative mess will be welcome. I like your sense of humour too, you'll fit in well on the blog
Tres, i am so sorry to hear about Fudge and Charlie Puss, i cant think of anything worse than losing a fur baby never mind two in rapid succession:-( i do hope that things improve for Charlie Dog, you must be beside yourself with worry, sending you all hugs
Donita, thinking of you and wishing you better health soon
Yvonne, trying to sully my good name, shame on you! Jealousy is an ugly emotion, i have many friends here so get used to it!:-)
Huge hugs to all my besties, love to you all and best wishes

Hi Sue. Two gorgeous Christmas cards today, so difficult to choose a favourite. Love number 1 with its sparkly texture paste but the second one with the touches of gold and red poinsettias just tops it. Must say though that I'd find this a hard one for batch making as the poinsettias and foliage would take me ages to do.
Hope everyone, especially those not too well, has an enjoyable holiday weekend. Xx

Hello Sue, I'm late - even later than Brenda - that's late!! We are a right pair!
It's been a busy day and I'm about to wend my weary way upstairs!
I love Twofer Fridays - today's cards are both lovely but the second one gets my vote as my favourite! I've ordered the Red Glitter Kiss !! I was won over the other day! I actually have nearly everything to make that card but I won't copy it exactly! Why? Who knows! It's just me!
Thank you Sue for your inspiration and lovely Dies! I'm keeping very quiet about the " new ones!"
Thanks to everyone who indulged this Grandma - Pam, Izzy , Laine , Carmen, Pat L ( wounded in the house of friends !!) fancy saying the brains came from my husband! Maureen said that - but then I expected it from her! Finally Elaine! Many thanks! I do hope I haven't missed anyone out!
Laine this is a mad house on a Friday! Ask Maureen if you don't believe me! I even talked to the man who delivered my shopping today! Social Life! Mine is a whirl!!!ha ha!
Donita - so sorry to hear you have been suffering but pleased to hear you've had a good day! Let's hope it's the start of a great week!
Love to all, Myra ( friend of Maureen!). Xxx

Beautiful cards today - two of them. I am amazed at how lovely the Frosty Frame shows. I've got to have this die set. The poinsettia card is so classic and I can see me making this design for Christmas. Thank you for sharing your designs.

Hi Sue,
Beautiful cards. I have the snowflake frame die, but hadn't thought to insert it back into the negative. Thanks for the inspiration.
