Christmas Double Day

Hello crafters!  I have two cards today for you that are both very nontraditional in their colour schemes.  I used Silver dream Pixie Powder on a piece of acetate mixed with Cosmic Lacquer then added wrinkled white tissue over the top.  I set it aside to dry overnight.  I cut two of the Stitched Snowflake Striplets in white and added them over a piece of the pixie powder background.  I embossed a piece of white card with the Snowflake Mosaic embossing folder.  I attached the two striplets to the sides.  I cut the snowflake tag and added it to the top of the card.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the tag set, inked the edges with Chipped Sapphire.  I sprayed it with glue and then coated it with Diamond Snow and added it to the tag.  With the remainder of the pixie powdered background, I cut the Poinsettias out of it.  I assembled them and and added them with Holly Swirls as accents.  White on white mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is more of a vintage style in it's colouring of dusty rose and cream.  I cut an aperture in a piece of milk card using the Noelle Frame outer die.  Next I embossed it with the Poinsettia Trellis embossing folder for texture.  I cut the Garland Edger with the larger decorative die and the smaller decorative piece out of milk card.  I cut a strip of dusty rose card and added it behind and added a strip of cream pearls between them as an accent.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached it on the lower portion of the card.  I attached a piece of sticky adhesive sheet to some milk card and attached the background to it with mounting foam.  I cut the Noelle frame in milk card and recessed it down into the aperture, then coated the remaining sticky areas with Diamond Snow.  I stamped my sentiment on milk card and cut it out with a Pierced flag, adding the next size up in rose as a mat.  I attached it across the aperture with foam, then added a Poinsettia Cluster in milk and rose as an accent.  Cream flatback pearls were added to the background and milk and rose mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue, another stunning two-fer, gorgeous. Love both but the vibrancy of No 1 edges it this week.
Donita, I'm home till the infection in the gall bladder subsides, they are still going to operate in 4-6 weeks time to take it out, as the attacks may recur and if my breathing problems worsen it can cause problems. It is usually day surgery but I would have to stay in overnight.
Maria, hope your procedure went well, and that you are feeling comfortable.
Marg, I feel for you so much, there is nothing worse than lying in bed when you hurt all over.
Elaine, thank Andrew for his well wishes and hug. I hope he is feeling more comfortable by now.
Laine, hope you are now feeling more comfortable, you've had a rough time lately.
Rosemary, hang in there, it will get better.
I haven't spoken to work yet, my daughter (DWP manager) went in to see them on Monday morning, got one of our worst managers, and told them they had to go through her for contact. They said they would ring me in hospital but Lesley said no I wasn't well enough and she is to be the only contact for now. She knows her guidance inside out lol.
Thank you all for your welcome back wishes, it's good to be back, it was such a scary episode.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends.

Good morning Sue. Two stunning cards (as always). I've surprised myself this morning in that as much as I like the first card with the pixied background, the second more vintage one is my favorite!
Pam, hope that you continue to recover, infected gallbladders are very painful. I don't know if it's the same in hmrc, but in education if you're signed off work by a doctor if anyone in authority contacts you it can be called harassment and you can report them. Good to know that your daughter knows all the rules and can give them a taste of their own medicine! Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Hi Sue
What lovely cards for us today, I do like the vibrant first one but the second one has an edge for me, probably because of the people I send cards too. The first is more a young style, not sure some of my aunties could cope with a blue poinsettia! I do like the pixie powder background, I must be brave and have a play at this, after all it's only acetate and can be thrown away if it all goes horribly wrong! Thank you for sharing.
Love Diane G xxx
Pam it's so good to have you at the top again, fancy wanting to phone you in hospital! Blooming cheek of it. Thank goodness your daughter knows her stuff, I think there might be some fun times ahead. You just concentrate on getting well enough for your operation. Xxx
Karen I hope your operation goes well xxx
Maria how did yours go? Hope you are on the road to recovery too. Xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, 2 beautiful cards today, both so different and deserve their day on the blog. I love the idea of the powders on acetate with the lacquer, I will have to have a go at this. I saw Julia doing the lacquer and stains doing the stained glass window effect, I keep saying I will try again - must get my head round it.

Pam so pleased you are getting along OK and good on your daughter, she has got her head screwed on (as my Mum used to say), your Manager certainly sounds like a nasty piece of work.

I reiterate all you have said as well.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

While I like both cards I have to say no.1 is my favourite! That blue is just so vibrant and us probably made even more so by the ice white contrast. Love it! Thank you .Sue, enjoy the double days.

Dear Sue and Doubly Happy Followers,

I do hope you'll show us on video how to do a background on acetate with Pixie Powder/Cosmic Lacquer/wrinkled white tissue. That vibrancy feels good on the eyes, maybe because it's a nice change.
The second card is my favorite. Love how it feels nostalgic. Also, for my taste, it has the right proportion of dusty rose to milky white. Just enough. And I love everything about the Noelle Frame as well as its sister.
We had a nice miss by Gert, which I understand might bring you guys some summer. And Monday where I am, we'll get maybe 70 percent of the eclipse. My brother in St Louis will be in the path of totality, and my sister in Philadelphia is traveling with her daughter and some friends to climb a mountain in Kentucky that will be in totality. I'll be at work near a big window when it goes almost dark.
Thank you Pam for giving us the picture of what you went through and are going through. I guess we know where your daughter gets her spunk.
Karen, I hope your second operation feels like a short cruise and that your recovery feels like a long cruise.
I'm losing track of who has to have what done. May your hospital stays be safe and quiet, and may they send you home with good meds that make all your furniture more comfortable.
Rosemary Powell and Crewe Trish, it's nice to be in your love and hugs group. Love and hugs to you, too.
Laine, what an honor to be named among your blog besties.
Thursday night, I was covering an event and spent the first part getting little video clips with my cell phone. Suddenly, I needed to write down a name spelled correctly, so I felt around in my pocketbook for a pen. What should I pull out but a toothbrush!
Another mildly funny thing came in on a police chief's recap of crimes since the last roundup a week ago. I liked one that was too small to qualify as news. A landlady was arrested for threats against a tenant who was behind on his rent. She threatened to break all his windows!
Here's hoping Gert brings you nice weather.
Love, Donita

Two lovely cards. As I like non-traditional cards, my favourite is the first one.

A question: who decided what was traditional? The first Victorian Christmas cards were certainly nothing like the ones we see today. We seem to have been told by the card-producing industry what colours we should use. Until a certainly cola company changed the colours in the middle of last century, Father Christmas was always wearing green. Just musing.

Hello Sue,
Both cards today are beautiful. I love the stunning blue card, but the elegant, restful cream and pink is also a favourite. I can't choose between them!!
Pam, that's harassment and bullying by the manager. Well done to your daughter for standing up to her and knowing what's what. You need someone like that to take these people down a peg. I hope you are feeling better and will be fit enough for the operation.
Maria pet, I send you lots of love and cuddles and hope that you feel much better soon.
Elaine, I think of Andrew and Mary, and send love and prayers.
Laine and PP, I hope you are both feeling better. I'll ring PP to get the news, but not just now, I'll have to psyche myself up for it ha ha.
Carmen, I love your throw-away lines, you make me smile. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Laine and PP talk!!
Frances, thank you for your kind words.
Donita, yes we were told that Hurricane Gert was going to bring a nasty surprise on Monday, now we are being told that it might just bring us warmth instead. I say "Welcome Gert" ha ha. The story about the Landlady is a hoot, she's obviously a few bob short of a £ if she didn't realise that she'd be breaking her own property lol. (That's old money before we went decimal, a few shillings short of a pound, I suppose would be like a few dimes short of a dollar).
Pat L, sending love to Sarah and hope Mr L continues to improve.
Love to all.

Two more beautiful cards Sue and the second one would be my choice if I had to vote.
So many of the wilsonettes are sick or sad and I send my healing thoughts to all.
Thank you Maria for your comment. Now I feel like I belong to the group lol!
Have a good weekend. Love to all.

I do love the first one best. The blue is gorgeous..what shade Pixie Powder is that? I see the silver but didn't catch the blue. I assume the technique is like caught in crystal only with Pixie Powder. Would love a video like Donita.
Pam, feel better. I went through much the same last year only they kept me in the hospital a week before they removed my gall bladder. IV only,no food or water by mouth. I hope you are better really soon.
Everyone, have a good Sunday
