Double Striplet Sunday

Good Sunday morning all!  I am back to the striplets for today's double day, specifically the Tiled Squares Petite Striplet.  In the first card, I cut the top and bottom edges of a piece of coconut white card with the decorative inner die from the set.  I extended the pattern two extra sections by moving the die along, which allowed me to create a rectangular background .  I backed the piece with a black card.  Next I cut two more of the striplets out of black card using both pieces of the die.  I glued them to the sides of the background piece which created a rectangular frame for my focal element.  I used the Hugs stamp to die for called Hugs and Flowers and stamped it in black on white card.  I coloured in the flowers with a red distress marker and cut it out with the matching Hugs die.  I used the rectangle dies in the set to cut a backing and make a thin black frame.  I cut the Hugs once more out of black to create a shadow and mounted the stamped hugs slightly offset on to it.  I added mounting foam and attached it in the centre of the striplet frame.  I cut several Exquisite Poppies out of red card that was covered with sticky adhesive sheets and coated them with Lava Red polished silk glitter.  I attached the flowers in opposite corners around the focal image.  I completed the card with white, red and black mats.  The finished size is 7" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card uses the striplet background for the basis for my fire and ice technique.  I started by cutting the decorative piece of the Tiled Squares Striplet into a piece of black card six times.  I applied a piece of sticky adhesive sheet to the front of the card, then turned it over and gilded the back with Summer Meadow gilding flakes.  I trimmed the edges of the card,then peeled the front backing piece off and coated the card with Iced Snow.  I stamped my sentiment and then cut a multi layered frame using the Double pierced oval Noble die set.  I added mounting foam to the back and then seated it over my stamped sentiment.  I added this piece to the centre of the card.  I decided to keep it clean and simple without any flowers so it is more of a unisex sort of card, but you could easily doll it up with some floral elements.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  the finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.
