Thanks For Being My Friend

Hello everyone!  I had planned on doing this card as a demo during the last set of shows, but we ran out of time.  I started by cutting the Stitched Lattice Frame die.  I used the Lattice piece and cut it twice, once out of white and once out of black card.  I offset the two pieces to create a background, then added a piece of wisteria card behind them.  I used the Stitched frames and cut a double layered frame out of white card for the base and wisteria card for the top accent frame.  I added them with foam mounting over the background.  I cut the inside die from the Bern die out of wisteria card and matted it with a black backing piece.  I cut the centre out of it to create a small frame for my sentiment.  I stamped my sentiment then seated the frame over the top of it.  I cut a thin frame to go around the sentiment out of white using the different inside cutting edges from the Zurich and the Bern.  I used the Exquisite Poppy die and cut several of them out of white card.  I inked the edges with Shaded Lilac distress ink, then used my scissors to cut small slits in them, to give them a slightly different look.  I completed the card with mats of white, wisteria, black and another white.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue.
This is such clever photography. It's not until the close up on the last but one picture can you see it's the black shadow of the lattice die that creates the background look, when I first looked at the uploaded sample (on my phone) it gave the impression of black & white dotty paper as the background, even though I read how you put it together, I thought - hmm no spotty card mentioned, then 'bam' the penny dropped at the final hurdle when you showed so clearly the black lattice shadow, so clever. It's a beautiful card to start the week. I really must try and great myself to the lattice die, I'm missing SO many of the newer none festive collection, on the slippery slope of never recovering now !
If this is the first card of a new week, then I can't wait to see what's coming up for the rest of the week.
Sending hugs for the day and hope it's a good one xx

Afternoon Sue
Today's and yesterday's cards were obviously made with me in mind as the shadow box lattice background dies and perspective dies are right there at the top of my favourites list x
Today's card is so soft even with the pop of black which makes the whole thing pop without being overwhelming. The wisteria card has got to be one of the nicest colours as it is subtle and delicate but gives such a fabulous result. Thanks Sue - lovely x
Well I come to the blog feeling rather smug and pleased with myself. Why is that Yvonne??!! I hear you cry!!
Firstly, here I am for the second time in 3 days and it is still light outside - most unusual for me. One day Pam I will comment before you lol! Just as I hold the title for being favourite Wilsonette you must, without doubt hold the title of earliest and most sprightly Wilsonette!! You are not in any danger of having this esteemed title stolen by me but it would give you a shock if I did get in first wouldn't it x
The second reason for my feeling of self righteousness is that I decided yesterday that something really needed to be done to create some sort of order with my bulging crafty stash. Laine's visit is looming and as we have decided that our schedule will be sleep, craft,
cheesecake, sleep, craft, cheesecake and repeat. We will break for Ally Pally but apart from that nothing will disturb this rather decadent itinerary. So I figured that I needed to try and create some sort of system that made sense and meant I could locate desired items quickly. After all if I hadn't got a clue as to where things were what chance had Laine got??!! I did quite well with the help of lots of post it notes, an excessive amount of sticky white labels and some permanent markers. Got to say I surprised myself and although the rest of the house looks post apocalypse my craft room (dining room) almost resembles an organised area which 2 fruit loops could quite happily craft the hours away in a coordinated fashion. That said I now need to keep it neat and tidy - that's the tricky bit x
My final reason for feeling so complacent is that I made 2 cards yesterday. I know - 2 - get me. Lol. A friend had asked me to make a card for her brothers birthday. He is a serious bridge player and I had been trying my best to think of something appropriate but no luck. Well amidst the chaos and havoc which I created yesterday whilst sanitising said craft area I happened to come across a box of punches from prehistoric times!! Not used punches since . . . . . .
well can't remember!!
In amongst the boring circles and squares I found 4 small punches - a heart, a diamond, a spade and a club. To cut a very long story short - with the assistance of said punches and one of the shadow box dies and frames from the stitched lattice set and I had managed to create a red, black and white shadow box card that I really loved, which is unusual. My friend was absolutely delighted and said it was one of the best cards she had seen in a long time! High praise indeed. Got to tell you those shadow box dies are just amazing. I can't get enough of them.
The second card was for a friend of a friend's daughter who is autistic and completely infatuated with butterflies and the colour pink! Once again, shadow box to the rescue, along with all my butterfly dies and punches and enough shades of pink card to make Barbie feel nauseous! The end result was, believe it or not, stunning. It was mainly white but the pink butterflies adorned with glitter jewels and faux pink pearls all in all made for a card which I was proud of. Just before I started my comment I had a text from my friend to tell me that her friend cried when she gave it to her as she was so over the moon.
So I hope that explains my feelings of self-centered glee but I think you will understand x
I'm sorry but my feelings of triumph mean that I will have to split my comment.

Princess Pixie! said...

Part 2!!!
Tracy - wish it was you coming instead of you know who! Lol. I am worried about my sanity as her stay approaches quicker than I am comfortable with. If I escape the visit unscathed it will be a miracle. Hugs x
Maria - sleeping any better? You need to be in tip top shape for Ally Pally. Think Laine and I will be going on the Sunday. How about you? Hugs x
Fluffy - no conspiracy - honest. Although being involved in some treacherous scheme does appeal to my darker side. Lol. Hugs x
Lynda - you're so right. Comings, goings, ups, downs - wild parties and the like!! Not to mention my love affair with pixie powders - how gorgeous are they??!! Can't cope. Lol. Are you Ally Pallying this time hun? Hugs x
Lorraine - hope you feel better today. Huggles x
Wheely - nice to see you. Hugs x
Norah - welcome back x
Laine - you really need to step up and meet my challenge with gusto. Limber up and get those crafty muscles warmed and creative juices flowing before you come here!! How's the hair - you looking gorgeous? No thought not! Lol. Speak soon x
OK folks. Having my hair done later so few bits and pieces to do including staring at my tidy crafty area!!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a stunning card using one of your most versatile dies, the frames alone in this set make this die a must have for any crafting arsenal. Closer inspection is needed to see the full effect of this design, I love the offset black lattice card peeking from behind. The wisteria card is a beautiful shade, perfectly enhanced by the pop of black. Surely the poppy die is the most adaptable flower die to date, I have lost count of the many different designs that you have created using them, this one being one of your finest. Another impressive example of your talent Sue.
What began as a rather dull day turned into something altogether more appealing with sunshine and blue skies.....unfortunately there was a force 10 gale blowing which normally wouldn't faze me but on the day when I am getting my hair done I take exception! Yes, no amount of hairspray was going to keep my hair in place today, believe me, I tried applying copious amounts but to no avail:-(, so what had been a virtual masterpiece turned into a shapeless mass. I tell myself that it's the cut that counts but I lie because when you pay for a blow dry you want it to at least appear professional:-) So, my nemesis Yvonne is also getting her hair cut tonight, how freaky is that? It's almost Single White Female territory we are entering now, I'll really start to worry if she develops a Scottish accent and changes her name by deed poll to Laine:-)
I'm ashamed to say that I have yet to start the birthday card June, I have plans to complete it tomorrow God willing and must admit to feeling rather inferior given Yvonne's industriousness in creating two whilst simultaneously organising her craftroom.....we have lofty plans to create bucket loads when I visit, it's always an incentive when you have a partner in crime:-) I really miss the craft classes I used to attend, crafting on your own doesn't have the same appeal, I have to be more disciplined and organised but sharing an interest with a group and having a good chinwag is something I would highly recommend.
Yvonne, I'm in fear of the Apocalypse with you commenting in daylight hours twice in less than a week:-) Hope your haircut goes more smoothly than mine did though it has to be said that it's a pair of scissors your hairdresser has, not a magic wand:-) A word of advice though, bragging isn't a very attractive trait in a lady, you tidied your craftroom and made a card, not won a Gold medal or anything!:-)
Maria, I was looking forward to a hug from you too....until you suggested that my host need install security measures prior to my stay:-)
Cuddles to P, Pat, Pam, Beth , Rebecca, Jan, Theresa, Wheely Bad, Frances, Tracy, Elaine and Andrew, Alison and anyone needing a hug.

Hi Sue and all your crafty crew
I love today's card and I especially love those poppies they are so versatile
The only crafting I have done is painting the kitchen and I don't think that counts
Hugs to all that need them
Love Theresa G xx

Hi Sue,
I love all your cards.
It is really hard to choose favorites.
This is one of them though.
I have everything to make this.
I excites me when I have all the dies and product to make the cards you share with us.
Thanks

Another breath taking card. I love the lattice frame back ground which I need to add to my list. You have a wonderful eye for colour. Wendy

Can anyone help me. I cannot find the A4 embossing folder--EF023 named swirling holly. I have exhausted everywhere I know where to find it. Any suggestions?
