Anything For You

Good Sunday morning all!   Quite a simple card for you today.  I started by embossing a piece of duck egg blue card with the Leafy Quad embossing folder for background texture.  Next I cut four of the Canadian borders in white and glued them to the edge of the background, mitring the corners.  I ran a row of self adhesive pearl strips around the edge as an embellishment.  For the focal element, I used the inside die from the Ornate Pierced Design Noble and cut it into a frame.   I then cut it in half, put the two halves together and cut it down a bit further.  I reassembled it and taped the pieces back together to form a more circular shape.  I added mounting foam to the back, stamped my sentiment on another piece of card, then attached the smaller frame over it.  I cut several of the Open Petal Perfect Peonies and made a bunch of flowers that I then used to cover the cut lines in the die as well as embellish the die cut.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, a thin duck egg blue mat and another plain white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Janice K!!!
Lorna D!!!
June Horrocks!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue

It is simple but looks so impressive and as if a lot of work has gone in to it. these are very useful cards to have in store for the unexpected event. it's lovely. I love the new card.

Having asked, I am hoping that CE are going to start selling sample sets of card so we can see the exact colours we want to buy! I think I would end up buying more if I could be certain of the colour.

If anyone else thinks this might be a good idea post a comment then we can see how interested people are in the idea. I have bought card in the past and it has been the wrong colour shade so I would love to have the chance to purchase samples.

Congratulations to the winners.

And a very good Sunday morning to you Sue,

Not sunny yet in my little corner of Somerset, but time will tell.

A very pretty lacey card today. The duck egg blue is a very pretty shade and does the card justice.

Good idea Heather, I do believe the Paper Mill is the only site I have been on in the past that will send you a box of sample colours and textures, You do have to pay for it though, but it is worth it to get exactly what you want.
Any good company should have this facility for online shopping. Try before you buy is a good maxim.

The use of this strong colour results in a striking card. Not so sure about the busy embossing folder though. The Canadian borders make a gorgeous frame.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a refreshing change from all of our Christmas themed treats of late- whilst I can never get too much of your Chrimbo designs Sue, it's great to mix it up a bit with your standard dies also. What a lovely tone of blue, so fresh and bright, it reminds me of Spring/Easter which is nice as the days are getting steadily shorter:-( I have been brave enough to chop one of your dies and was pleasantly surprised at the results, you give us so many options with your designs. I have never mitred a corner...it sounds painful...but I love the effect on this card, also loving the open petal peonies, a great alternative that I don't use often enough on its own. I particularly like the recessed sentiment, it's a nice change from the normal matting and layering and draws the eye inward.
Has it really been two whole days since I last commented!??! I apologise profusely for letting every day life stand in the way of me conversing with my blog buddies...can you ever forgive me? I could tell porkies and say that I had been whisked away to Paris by a tall, handsome stranger who I met on a train to Glasgow in a feeble attempt at making my life sound more exciting, or I could tell you the truth, tedious it may be, that in have been unavoidably detained by hospital appointments and household chores....I warned you...boring!
Nevermind, I'm back, with bells on, ready to set the crafting world on fire with my wit, charisma and magnetic personality!...more lies I hear you say!:-)
I have been super industrious and I decided not to waste the card that Brodie maliciously defamed on Thursday- I took the elements/layers apart, trying to salvage what I could and as a result only needed to redo the layer with the snowflake borders and paved pearls. It took me less than 45 mins to repair and I placed it well out of Brodies reach until it dried thoroughly:-) I'm still finding a trail of Cosmic Shimmer paw prints around the house though!
Wheely Bad, I see Billy drives you to distraction too with his 'help'- this time of year is particularly challenging with the excessive amounts of glitter, baubles and various crafty goodies lying around for them to get their eager paws on. I've seen elephants, a dolphin and a monkey on the tv doing paintings that are sold for a small fortune, perhaps I should facilitate Brodie and get him to pay for his keep in the process?
What a great idea for sue to create a book of her most popular techniques Tracey, I have all the CE ones but I am greedy and want more of Sue- she works hard enough as it is though, and I'd be surprised if she could squeeze another big project in:-(
Heather, I love your idea about swatches of paper so that we can accurately gauge the colours before we purchase- I used to get all my card from my local craft shop but it closed due to the recession and now I have to get it online. It's so hard not being able to see or feel the quality and colour anymore, it's a guessing game mostly so I hope CE take note cos it would no doubt lead to more sales in the long run.
Rebecca, glad to have you back with us, though do try to get some sleep- I'm useless without 7 or 8 hours minimum and I don't even have work to go to!
Yvonne, I've really missed you dear and been so worried about your well being- glad to hear that your beginning to pick up again though, this time of year can be a real strain, I have SAD and find it a real challenge to function in the autumn/ winter months. I used to use sunbeds as a form of light therapy...until I got skin cancer...now, I just make the most of my good days and try to focus on the positives, like Christmas and going to see the Strictly boys in all their glory:-) I've been a very good girl without your disruptive influence honey:-)
Must go, running out of charactersxxx
Laine

Hi Sue

Simple? Certainly doesn't look it, reminds me of elegant lace and embroidered fabric. Very pretty and feminine.

My apologies for awol and a short comment. On top of a general sense of utter exhaustion I've had a cold and very sore throat, from tired to tired-er, I have been sat-sitting with you Yvonne! I hope you feel a bit sharper asap. Lorraine perhaps we should start making our boys pay for some of the treats they get through via some paw print works of art!

Special hugs for Melody, Francis and Molly, Tracy, Txcowgirl and anyone else in need of a extra hug and a friendly ear.

Congratulations to the winners xxx

Sending hugs and smiles across the miles to each and every one of you wherever you are. Wishing you all a lovely new week. Sue, Billy sends a sloppy kiss each for you and Mom,

Hi Sue and all other crafters.....

What a beautiful card, I love this lacy look.

I have missed out on nearly one week's cards, I have been feeling under the weather, I think this is the month of feeling blue, time for the coughs and colds to raise their heads.

Must look back at my e-mails to see all the cards that I have missed.

Hope everyone has a happy week, and those of us that have pain and the blues, keep well.

Love n hugs from Dorothy Macdonald of Baldock.

Congratulations to the winners! I'm sure they are over the moon with excitement, I know I would be.

I love this stunning card. It has a soft elegance to to it that is easy on the eye. The color against the white is fabulous. It reminds me of Tiffany's Robin Egg Blue, at least on my computer. The lacey affect against the embossing folder is quiet awesome. I'm just beginning my collection of your beautiful products so I don't have these dies...YET! I have no doubt I will be back to create my version of your card. Btw...my very first product of yours was a gorgeous embossing folder gifted to me by my wonderful cousin, Connie. I love it! Thank you for sharing another card to inspire us all.
