It's A Double Day

Hello all!  Two completely different styles of Christmas cards today for the double day offerings.  First up is a card that was one of my experiments.  I rather liked the results so decided to finish it into a card.  I started with a piece of clear acetate and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Calypso gilding flakes, using a piece of Rubit Scrubit pad to move the flakes around and remove the excess bits.  I covered the entire piece, then turned it over and on the acetate side, I used the Justrite Snowflakes and stamped them randomly across it using a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed them with white embossing powder Note: heat embossable acetate needs to be used for this technique.  I matted it on a piece of black card.  I covered another piece of black card and cut my Classic poinsettia die several times from it.  I peeled the backing paper off  of each piece and covered them with clear micro beads.  I made two different sized poinsettias and finished them with a 8mm white pearl in each of the centres.  I added them to the corner of the card along with some Holly Sprays cut from black card and some black tulle.  I stamped my sentiment on to vellum using a black Archival ink pad.  I cut it into a strip and tucked the end under the flowers.  I finished the card with a white pierced mat, a thin black mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  8" in size.  Scroll down to see card no. two.

The second card is far more traditional with the white on white styling.  I used the Snowflake Lattice embossing folder to give texture to a piece of coconut white card.  I covered another piece of coconut white card with a self adhesive sticky sheet and ran both the Christmas Angel and the solid Joy die through.  The angel does not cut all the way through because of the detail but there are spots that will so those need to be taped up from the back before removing the angel from the die.  Once removed, then just lift off the "fall away" areas of the die using a pokey tool to gently lift off the backing paper.  When they have all been removed, cover in Diamond Sprinkles glitter and burnish well.  Then remove the rest of the backing paper and coat in micro beads.  This will give you a tone on tone High-Low technique for your angel.  You can see the detail better in the close up pics below.  Cut a harp out of white card and glue it into her hands.  The Joy word will cut easily, just peel the backing paper off and coat each letter with Diamond Sprinkles and add mounting foam to the back.  Mount vertically in the upper left corner.  Add the angel with foam to the card.  I pierced a white mat layer, then added another mat where I used double sided tape around the edge then added Diamond Sprinkles to it, then a final white mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  Which one is your favourite today?  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,
It's No.1 for me, every time. I loved the card when you demo'd it and was over the moon (well, still am) when I won it.
Absolutely divine.
Your second card is also lovely - such a shame it's got to compete with the first. But I'm only expressing my opinion - I bet the majority of the Wilsonettes prefer no.2.
Thank you again, Sue
Hugs, Rose

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, Friday 2 card day, love it, both beautiful but I think my favourite is the Angel card, this is such a stunning die, I am going to try that technique, might take a while to get it right though.

Pam are you OK, not heard from you for a while, hope everything is alright and that Robbie is progressing well.

Oh Sue I have seen a sneek peek at your new dies, and have pre-ordered some of them, can't wait to see the creations you make with them.

Have a great Friday everyone, stay safe, healthy and happy, and enjoy whatever you are doing today, hugs, June Smith xxx

Hi Sue. What a contrast you have given us today! I love both cards, each so beautiful in their own way. Those poinsettias are gorgeous. Oh, I do wish my experiments would end up looking anything like yours : )The second is a classic beauty, I love the High-Low technique, so pretty.
Pam, good to see your comment. We are all here for you. Be gentle with yourself.
Thanks for the good wishes. I have good and bad days, never know which I am going to get! I am on a good one today luckily as I'm off to see the Poppies. Sadly hubby has hurt his knee so it is going to be just me and our daughter now.
Sending my daily hugs to everyone. Take care.

Good morning Sue
Two totally different cards but each equally as beautiful as each other. The first one is so dramatic (Rose you are so lucky to own this one), and the second one so traditional. I love the way you've done the high low tecnique with the angel so pretty. I love the micro beaded poinsettia who would have thought that black ones would look so fabulous. I'm finding reasons to add your holly spray on every Christmas card lol.
Pam it was lovely to see you comment yesterday sending you a hug.

Morning Sue
Just where do the weeks go! It isn't two minutes since it was the last twofer.
For me there isn't a problem this week in choosing a favourite. Whilst I love the idea of the background for the first offering it's the second by far that really hits the spot. I have your Angel and Joy dies along with Noel and Peace for this year's season and have to say they are absolutely beautiful. I do have a little problem sometimes with the Peace die in getting the cut out of the die but it's more than worth persevering with it. If anyone has any ideas which may help please feel free to comment. Any ideas are always welcome.

Pam - hope you are feeling a little more settled day by day. Time is your friend.
Mrs B - I'm not a bit envious about you going to see the Poppies (well not much anyway). It will be a great experience if it's like any of the photos I've seen. Looking forward to your report.
Sandra - I missed you yesterday. Hope you aren't in too much pain. You've had a very busy and eventful week so please take care.

Off to market today and will be well and truly wrapped up as it's bitter here today. No pastries this week as we're going out for a meal this evening. Don't know what's come over Mr E or more to the point what is he after!!!lol.

To all under the weather hope you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

I like the flake card Sue, but the classic white on white edges it for me today, especially as your angel is so beautful xx

Hi Sue, morning all Wilsonettes. Hope you all managed to rest well. Thinking of Tina E and daughter Claire - who was rushed back into hospital yesterday, hope Claire's pain gets under control today Tina.

Card number 2 has to be my choice (for obvious reasons) lol ! Your photography shows the snowflake lattice EF up a treat, but those ladies like myself that have that folder Im sure will agree that until you see it and use it in the flesh, even David Bailey couldnt bring out the beauty of that folder its absolutly gorgeous. I have always loved white on white, there is something so classie about it, and whether it be a festive card or wedding card, it just works for most cards, and the iced snow just hightens the tone on tone beauty.
Thank you for our two fer Friday, what with 2 video tutorials and a double day, plus comment gift, not forgetting Wednesday givaway, where else could you find such a generous blog, you couldn't, so thank you Sue for starting Particraft and all you do for us. Hope you have a lovely day with R&R time at some point.
Please open my basket of caring hugs if you need or want one, plenty to go round to help comfort a painful body or ease a breaking heart.
Hi to TOB - Theresa, one day you will feel strong enough to pop by again. Hi Pam - in my thoughts.
Janet, hope the market is less 'frantic' and I look forward to day dreaming over your pick of pastry Friday.
Sending hugs this Friday.
Love you.

Two more beauties for Christmas with fantastic techniques. Once I get the impetus to start redecorating my study and turning it into a crafting haven, I will then have the room to practice all these artistic effects.
Thank you Norah for your comment on chanty raslers. I do believe that is going to be my new right words for them and anyone else who can't do a proper paid job. You will make a excellent grandmother, babies don't come with Rule books, you just love them.
Welcome to Bumble on joining the best craft blog out.
Comfort blanket hugs to Mary Blight, Wheely bad, Alimecca and to dear Pam, take it as you say, one day at a time. Bereavement also doesn't come with a rule book as I found out when I lost my soul's other keeper, Pete, in March of last year. It has been rough at times, especially when I learned of the Breast cancer this year and didn't have him at my side to help me through like he did with my kidney cancer in 2011. But the butterflies are always there and I do believe he sends me one when I am at my lowest. So take care of yourself, flower and remember all the good times you shared.
Hugs to all Wilsonettes who are in need of one.

Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
Well Sue it is Mary, Mary, quite contrary here again as i think the black poinsettias and holly sprigs just soaks up some of the brightness of the fire of the gilding flakes. against the white card with the touch of black layer just adds what is needed to it. Now the Angel card is a hair breadth in the lead for me with the beautiful hi/lo technique used on her. She just stands out as if she is multi layered thick. The hi/lo on the JOY as well just looks different being all in the one colour of textures instead of the normal gilding flakes with micro beads/ snow or glitter. Two beautifully stunning cards Sue that would grace anyone's home. Thank you flower for bringing such beauty into our lives.
Karen wishing you well in hospital today for your op, hope you will be back amongst us again soon.
Pat L, oh i am so happy that your little "walking" princess is home with you and her family. I bet there will be no stopping her now that she has found her feet and can walk even though it is with her frame, it is great news and she will just go from strength to strength. WELL DONE SARAH.x
Glad you have join us Rolf, you are now an official Wilsonette. There are crafters of all abilities here so you need any help just type.
Steph, i hope that you had a lovely day at your daughters and grand doggies yesterday and your right it has turned a mite colder.
Mrs B, i hope that the day is being kinder to you than it was yesterday. I would probably have been thinking "Crikey could you not have waited until tomorrow before knocking me for six" just so that i could have went to play with my friends. Awh well there is always next week flower so take care so that you can make it then.
Millie, i am so very sorry to hear about your brother as i know just how much i miss mine. Remember the good times, the annoying times and all the inbetween times that he had and did. If you are lucky he will visit you often with little things that you see and that in all honesty brings comfort. Jim comes to visit me now and then(i think when he is bored) just to let me know he is there watching over. He must like my bookcase as that is where my things come out off for no good reason. As long as you keep your beloved brother in your heart Millie, he will never truly be gone.
Seen a funny thing yesterday going back to the dentist for a filling and that was an afghan hound walking along in the park with an all in one rain suit on even with the hood up and the tail sticking out the back of this suit. Now i have seen dog coats in the past but never rain suits for dogs. I was just wondering if it had a onesie at home to change into. That fair tickled me the whole day just the image of it. I went from the dentist into Stirling to meet my friend and went into that dear shop, you know Primark. Well in the mans section of jumpers they had a Christmas pudding that lights up, they had Rudolph with his antlers and bells on them, a Christmas tree strung with lights, a fat Santa whose tummy went ho ho ho Merry Christmas when you giggled it. I got the Christmas pudding for me to put on as i think that in the dark nights walking to my friends from the car will look great and my friend already knows that i am the loopiest person she knows, so hey fun and her wee grandson will be intrigued at me flashing. I was so done in when i came home though and still like it today, so i think it will be settee and a wee nod. Take care everyone with hugs going to all my Angels that are here or not at the moment, i'm thinking of you.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil Village)
P.S everyone, i just ignore that silly robot thing and go through as normal and it lets me. Just a thought for you to try x

Hi Sue both your cards are gorgeous. I hope you have a brilliant weekend. Hugs Jackie

My choice is the second card. Love the way you did the high low technique on the angel. Will certainly have to try this. I tried your first technique the other day with stamping on the correct type of acetate and using the embossing powder and wasn't pleased with the results. Even though the acetate said anti static and heat embossable, just couldn't seem to get the little bits of extra embossing powder off the acetate before embossing it. Tried a little baby powder first on the acetate to see if this would help with no better results. Any tips for me?

They're both lovely but I think my favourite would be the second one - not too fussy ;)

Good afternoon Sue, and all the ladies.
I love both these cards Sue, but the first has to be number 1. I love the way the black poinsettias have been beaded, so that they look like frosted flowers - just beautiful.
I've been making wire faces with the 6 year olds at school this morning, and my fingers are cut to ribbons. Why do I volunteer for these things!!
I hope everyone who is in hospital or poorly at home, feeling down or lonely, has as good a day as they can.
Those who are going to see the poppies, or who are already there, enjoy the experience - and I'm not at all jealous - well not much anyway.
Love and hugs to all xx

Hi Sue. What could be better on a cold, wet windy Friday than a Friday Double from you :). I have to say that your experiment is a 100% success and I'm champing at the bit to get into my 'craft room' and have a play. It's come out perfectly and I love it! The second card has a quiet elegance about it that is just beautiful. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue
Two stunning cards today. I love first one with the gilding flakes. However, I do like white on white but the second card just doesn't float my boat.
Hope you have a great time in London Mrs B, it's a shame Chris went and hurt his knee. What on earth was he trying to do, or did he just trip.
I can prove your not. Robot Sandra.
Hugs to all in need of one today, seems like you need extra hugs at the moment Pam.

Two lovely cards Sue, but the angel wins it for me.
Thanks for all the good wishes dear friends, Cheryl, thank you for your encouragement. Robbie is doing well at home, he has a team of careers and attends an Out patient Rehab and they have had him in a harness standing up to build his core, supported by his physios. He is regularly seen out around town in his manual wheelchair building his upper body strength.

Both of your cards are lovely! #1 has very dramatic contrast and #2 is the exact opposite. Much as I love white on white, the vibrant one is my fave today.

Hi Sue what a contrast in today's cards. One so dramatic, love the background and the snowflakes are great and well the black poinsettias are really superb. Not sure I could cope with sticky adhesive sheet and acetate, might get a bit fraught would need peace and quiet to concentrate on that!! The angel card is so peaceful and graceful and I really like the technique you have used on her. Thanks foe spoiling us with a 2fer! Sincere hugs Maureen

The second card is my favourite. The black poinsettia is not for me but I think I might try it using a white flower as someone suggested.
Take care everyone.

Hello Sue, I was so taken with the poinsettia card, I started making it immediately! I haven't yet finished it, but have encountered difficulty in finding a suitable fixative to matt the gilded acetate to a backing sheet. Tried double sided tape which just lifted the gilding, cosmic shimmer didn't fix, strong red double sided better, but not perfect, and have now finished it with silicone.

Any advice please?

Regards, Ann
