Thinking Of You

Hi bloggers!  Today's card uses a few of the newly released dies.  I selected a pale spring green for my background.  Using the Daisy Tiers embossing folder, I added some texture to may background.  For the bottom portion, I added a strip of white card and used two of the New York Borders offset and glued to the white card.  They add just enough interest without taking your eye away from the focal element.  Next I cut three of the Union Square die from the New York Collection.  I have to admit, I am a bit partial to this die as I just love the way the debossed detail came out on it.  I offset all three of them until it created a pleasing pattern of fleur de lis from the corners of the die cut, going around the outside.  I stamped my sentiment in black Archival ink and inked around it with Shabby Shutters.  Next, I  die cut a frame from the Italian Decorative frame set.  I backed the frame with green card and added mounting foam and placed it over my sentiment, cutting away the excess card.  I added it to the centre of my Union squares to complete the focal element.  I tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and topped it with a two tone Camellia flower, using both the Complete petal set and the Open Petal set.  I made two matching stick pins from beads in my stash to embellish the bow.  The card was then finished with a pierced white mat, a thin green mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8 1/2" in size.

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:
Maggie (better without a bow)!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

morning Sue
from a very dark and damp morning here in High Green Sheffield.
A beautiful gift with a gorgeous colour palette. It's so gentle and could be used for any occasion.
I bought one of your square dies -and at the moment my one little grey cell is failing me for the name of it- and as seasonal cards were at the top of my list haven't had time to play yet.

Steph - enjoy your home alone day. Just think of how much creating you can get done.

Congratulations to Maggie without a bow. I can just hear your excitement here after seeing your name.

Had a lovely morning yesterday meeting up with Mr E's Nephew and catching up with all his family news etc. He was returning last night on the overnight ferry to Holland and so by now should be back in the arms of his family or probably in bed fast asleep.

This morning we're off to meet up with his Sister and her two little ones - we see them once a fortnight for coffee and catch up- so will be another busy morning and shattered afternoon recovering as yesterday. Never mind we love to see them.

To all who have occasions this week-end hope everything goes well and the weather doesn't spoil anything. To all under the weather for whatever reason hoping you'll feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and my lovely Wilsonette friends,
Oh how lovely Sue you trying to get us thinking of a lovely spring day like this, but i think we are going to have a wee bit of cold, damp and perhaps snow before that some how. I can see why you love the square dies as they can be so versatile and today's card is one to show their versatility off. Lovely colours with the fresh green background to the white die cuts. Pretty and fresh Sue, thank you for bringing something beautiful to our day.
Congratulations Maggie, sorry it's got a bow but it does finish it off don't you think and it matches in beautifully :)
Awh Tres, at least he wasn't just play acting, he really was in pain. Poor man, his knee must be gowping and to go through having to get is stitched up again. Sending hugs down to both of you just because you could be doing with a few.
Zena, i hope you are on the up now dear lady. I hope that you coming back to your other family will give you that wee boost that you could be doing with. It's so nice to see you back with us again.
Tandy, having been the victim of bullies all my life i can now understand why you had to leave. Bullies at school in one thing, but bullies in the work place is worse as they should know better by that age. Enjoy your new found free time flower, i just wish it had been because of better reasons. I would write a letter stating why you have felt compelled to do what you have done and the fact that weak management is not acting on it when they know they have a problem with their work force. If it is management, then it needs to go to the top of the tree to get sorted. Sending you hugs dear friend, i know that they can't do anything practical but they let you know that you are cared for.
Theresa, i have the exact same up here and it fair makes me mad. Although i am not in a wheelchair, i am on two sticks which i need to keep me upright and seeing the world at normal height( or as near normal as i can get at 5'1"). They just barge past you and knock you flying as if you are invisible. On the times i have challenged people that feel they need my car parking blue badge space more than me, i have asked if they would like the broken back, M.E/ chronic fatigue syndrome, and chronic fibromyalgia to go with the use of my space. You normally get the quip back "i'm only going to be 5 minutes." Lucky them that can get in, get what they want and get back out in the 5 minutes, as i would still be trying to come from the car after doing battle with the seat as to whether i am going to get standing up or not. I have found that that i had done most of my shopping on line as i don't get trampled on or tutted at because you are in their way.
end of part 1

Glenharon said...

Cheryl flower, you just take a nap when you need it as the treatment you are going through is exhausting and plays havoc with your body. You are so brave and determined, and have conquered so much to get there that your "family" is all here to keep you going. Sending you gentle hugs flower.
Lynne, if it wasn't bad enough the racket coming from outside without having the cats choir inside to accompany them. Tia only knows how to bark at cats when she sees them, as other than that she is pathetic at trying to bark so never lets anything upset her enough to warrant a bark. I am still trying to teach her how to shut the back door with her bum but it is not working as she is not taking me on at all about it and i know it is not because she is too stupid because she isn't she is just pretending to not understand.
Steph, enjoy the peace and quiet and time out from your military orders of what you have to do before the next market. Have some crafting fun so that you have a bit more vim in you for starting again when Mr L gets back.
Well it's another not so nice day up here at the Costa de Glenochil with it being a dreich sort of a day but the fire is on and i have my knitting so i will be all sorted. And yes i did clear out my wool cupboard but only to the garage in big plastic tubs as that is my baby wool and O H wool to make his a couple of wool jumpers, the rest is for my machines. So hence you see the reason for me getting wool for me and it is knitting up lovely.
Well, i hope that everyone has a lovely weekend and i will see you all tomorrow. Hugs to all my Angels both on the blog and not at the moment,
Love and crafty hugs

Totally agree about how well it embosses - particularly the little tips which remind me of fleur de lis . Gorgeous card - the whole thing is beautiful.love the pins and flower too.
Today we have blue sky and sunshine and it is actually quite warm for the time of year.

Cheryl - please rest when you need to rest. Sending you hugs.
I've got a question which cropped up while chatting to my granddaughters. We talked about playground games with balls and skipping ropes etc. I told them that we used to have rhymes we sang or said while playing. They thought I was mad I think. Just wondered when this died out? Or is it still a part of play?
Love to everyone, hoping you have a lovely weekend.

The perfect finishing touch for this gorgeous card. A lovely background EF to. This really is the sort of card that I love from you Sue.

Good Morning Sue & Friends,
Wow, green is my favourite colour and I absolutely love this card today, you ave shown yet another way of using the New York dies, I have been watching a few of the new videos on Youtube and it would appear to me that the 'New York Collection' is your favourite, it was Paul that mentioned it, he was laying beside me reading his book and after I had watched about 4 videos he said I think Sue likes those "New York" dies! But I have to say they are very versatile as you have demonstrated today xx
Tandy, I am so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time at work, there is nothing worse, you are much better off away from them, bullying can really bring you down, I know too well how it can make you feel, (I was born with major hip problems and a leg length difference) so you can imagine the fun the bullies had with over the years! You are an amazing person Tandy and don't let anyone make you think otherwise! Xxx
Cheryl, you make sure you rest plenty, you don't need to get yourself exhausted and then have the side effects from your treatment hit you, if you are well rested and relaxed you will be able to manage it much getter, gentle hugs xxxx
Theresa, it makes you want to ram their cars with your wheelchair doesn't it?! Paul always shouts at them " your only disability is you are too ***** lazy"! What they seem to misunderstand is that it's not just the fact that the space is close to the shop, it's the fact that it's a wider space, as most disabled people require the car door to open fully for enable us to get out and that you have to very able to get your wheelchair up to the car door, or be ble to mobilise on crutches down god dude of your vehicle, mist of which cannot be achieved in a normal parking space! I used to be too embarassed to say anything, but now I generally follow them into the shop and properly humiliate them in front of other customers, this generally has a better effect than confronting them on the spot!
Myra, I too looked for Black Friday craft bargains, but didn't really find anything much, I too ordered a couple from JS. I love how their delivery is so fast. I asked my girls about the games with rhymes thing, they seemed to gave no idea what I was talking about. I remember playing a game with two vales against a walk that had a rhyme, (-although the rhyme escapes me), also another where you had a ball in a pair of tights against a wall, also clapping games! I think that these days children gave list some of their imagination ans communication skills as they are forever on phones, checking their twitter or playing games! Right help me down from my soap box someone please!

Now I rather feel I tempted fate yesterday, there was me chatting about the difference in our grand Calibur's, later on in afternoon, I popped to Pats (witney) to borrow done dies and she showed me her plates from her GC, they were all covered in oil, it was everywhere, right across the plates and on the card she was making, I have been through this and it's so frustrating, specially when you have just bought Sue's new die collection and can't use it! Anyone else got/had oil problems?
Lynne M, it's so lovely to be reading your funny stories again, love having you back in our family where you belong. Xxx
Gail, hugs to you at this very stressful time, it must be frustrating having to wait until the new year to start treatment, you are in my thoughts xxxx
Brenda, you made me smile yesterday with your story about having a chat with your parents, I often ask my dad what he thinks about situations, or to ask for his help, I think it's lovely to feel that they are listening to you and I am sure Norah finds that a comfort too, I have on more than one occasion asked him to help me find something that has been lost in the chaos that the children leave around the house, I can spend hours getting stressed and exhausted looking for keys, my glasses, my phone etc, I will say 'come in dad where is it' on more than knew occasion the object will appear to be in the most obvious place!think of that what you will, knowing me it was probably there all along! Haha
Right I must go and take a headache tablet, I let the physio man get his way again yesterday (gosh that sounds rude)! He has been dead set on acupuncture since I started going there, I let him stick a couple of needles in my hands last time, felt nothing much on the day, but boy the next day I felt rough, but that was the weekend after THE craft fair! So I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt so this time he put needles in my hands, feet and the middle of my forehead, I so wish I hadn't, I feel terrible today, I ache from head to toe, but feel kind of unwell with it, I have a headache that is making me feel nauseous too, so I think that will be my last acupuncture adventure, by the way it has in no way made my pain any easier!
But I tried.
Right I am off to medicine cabinet and then to update my blog,
Have a fantastic weekend everyone,
Crafty hugs
Sandra xxxx

Hi there Sue,
I love the shade. Of green card - spring green sounds lovely and is similar to the shade of green the shoots of my snowdrops and crocus which are coming through. I am so happy I have the border die you used and I think the corners in that set are the best yet.
My love to all the friends on your blog. Not seen a mans name yet - I'm sure there are so many out there.
Lucky Maggie winning the Wednesday card.

Hi Sue,
What a fabulous card, green is not a colour I would think to use - I am more of a pink person - but this card has made me think again, it looks so fresh. Love it. I am lucky in that I have the Union Square, it is quite simply gorgeous. I am using it at present as a backing with the "let it snow die " for my Christmas cards and when you cut two out and set one point upwards and one point outwards it looks like a snowflake.
Your dies are so amazing Sue. Thank you.

Hi Sue

Such a vibrant fresh card, I love it, and really beautiful dies.

Cheryl, just give in when you feel tired, and rest and don't fight it. My daughter's maid of honor, back in April has been going through relentless chemo and radiotherapy for the last 5 weeks, she has another 2 weeks to go. I spoke to her last evening and what a difference in the sound of her voice. she went through the very tired stage at the start and now she sounds like the Anthea we love again. Thinking of you Cheryl X

kind regards :-)

Hi Sue
A bit late i know. This card is simply gorgeous. I just love this die. I bought the Times Square and as luck would have it this die is on my christmas/birthday list that I gave to my stepson this afternoon. Hope I get this one or else I'll have to buy it myself. I love the green as well. I've had to borrow Sandra's Grand Caliber as mine is depositing oil all over my plates and my card that I'm trying to make Christmas Cards. It's so frustrating, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
