Friday Double Day

Hi bloggers!   While this sample card certainly isn't the most flashy, it is very striking in real life.  I started with a piece of Rich Green card and embossed it with the new Nordic Trees folder to give texture to my background.  Next I cut the Framed Noel die out of larger piece of white card, leaving a bit of a frame on the original piece of card that it was cut from, which I used as a frame for this.  I added the frame to the card with mounting foam and then used the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to add dots around the edge of it.  I matted the Noel with a black square to make it pop and mounted it up a bit higher than my frame for a stairstep effect.  Next I placed a piece of sticky adhesive sheet on to white card and cut out the Noel again.  I trimmed the actual word section with a paper cutter, then peeled the backing paper off and covered it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I added some mounting foam to the back and placed it over the previously cut version.  I cut a Holly leaf with the matching outline done in black and added it to the corner with some Berry Sparkle PVA glue for the berries.  The card was completed with a white pierced mat layer, a thin green mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card today is quite an easy one.  I embossed a white background using the Checkerboard Pinpoint embossing folder for texture.  I matted it with a thin gold mat, the a wide white mat.  On the wide mat, I used the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to create my paved pearl technique.  If you want to see technique in more detail there is a tutorial at the top of my blog.  I cut the Joy die out of white card and then the matching solid Joy die out of soft vintage gold card.  I glued the solid letters behind the swirly outline and added mounting foam to the back.  The bold letters are a perfect place for foam mounting tape pieces as well.  I placed it in the lower corner of the card and used one of the pearl snowflakes in the upper corner as an embellishment.  I finished the card with a thin gold mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning ladies, two beauties stunning in their simplicity. Both these dies arrived yesterday as part of one of the c and c bundles. Can't wait to play.

Nana Tina I don't do housework either I am genetically challenged on my Dads side and my Mum was obsessed when I was a child very OCD I preferred yo be reading Enid Blyton and vowed things would be different when I was grown up. I have a home not a show house take it or leave it is my attitude! Craft far more important!

Decided against Ally Pally as felt Tilly would get bored once shed seen Tilly stuff and a long way to travel and a lot of money if I couldn't fully enjoy it! Considering NEC as hubby away that weekend.

Enjoy yourselves ladies I will be thinking of you all!

Have to stay in today and wait for Bradley's aka hubby's new bike wheels Why??!!! To be delivered. Me thinks if he needs bike wheels I need poinsettia dies! Logical isn't it?

Norah, take care thinking of you snakes angel will hopefully visit today!

Happy Friday Sue from a stunning sunrise in Bolton (well it was half hour ago) !
To our new blog friends, a warm welcome to the most caring sharing and sometimes humerous craft blog around, hosted by the BEST in craft world, come join the love, laughter and tears (mainly over pesky flakes) !! Lol
Oooooh Sue, your first sample got an adoring welcome from Mr L during your weekend marathon, I have no idea how he managed to comment considering how tight the masking tape was over his mouth, but at least it was a lovely comment, and I do agree, so striking with the little pop's of colour through the white, it really is plain but stands out beautifully. Our 2nd gift from you is equally stunning, on the luxurious side of C. Cards, with the chilly frosty affect and the pretty sentiment, both winner's in my mind. Id struggle with those weeny holly leaves, my 'stubby, sticky out fingers) wouldnt co-operate and I cant hold tweezers without them twisting and falling from my non existant grip, but such cute little dudes.
I hope all the prep is going as planned ready for AP, id give my guilding flakes to be able to join you, maybe one day we shall see you in Lancashire : )
TOB - Follow Jans lead if you can, sounds the perfect place for missing mojo's Im certain it will turn up soon with a massive amount inspiration, if not maybe our mojo's can come together and help ?
Start my new injection later, have my specialist nurse visiting at 3pm to show me how, as Im use to the normal syringe and this is totally different (doesnt bode well considering the density of my grey matter !
To 'our' Pam, hope that ankle is doing a little better now hon. To Lynn M and our missing friends hope you are ok, we are worried. To our Wilsonettes struggling with health and worries, my love and thoughts are with you. If in need of a shoulder, gentle hugs and caring love, then I have open arms ready.
Love you.

Hi Sue,

I think the Noël one wins for me , I love the white and green together. I like how you have raised the Noël part as well. However the joy card is very elegant and whilst I haven't got the Joy die, I could substitute it with the Peace die.
I hope everyone has a good day. Steph hope the injection goes well. Norah hope you are getting better each day, you are still in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everyone going to Ally Pally tomorrow have safe journeys there and that you thoroughly enjoy yourselves. Love and hugs to all those who need or want them. Special hugs to my " usual " friends. Morning Sue
from another very dull and wet day here.
Today's seasonal gifts are so beautiful and along with the 'Peace' die are the best I've seen for a long long time. So much so that I bought them and decided that these are the three I'm using this year for my seasonal offerings. I've done a run through using them and they are just heavenly to use. So I'm so pleased that you haven't asked us to choose a favourite as I just couldn't.

Sandra - Your beautiful girls will continue to make their Mum proud of them because they have been raised by a very strong and proud lady. I know what you mean re the ruck sacks and weight because long long ago one of my hobbies was long distance walking. We would walk up to 10 miles a day on one of the long distance walking paths and stay overnight at a local pub/tea rooms etc. I found that when my back got tired I reversed the ruck sack and carried it on my front. This way it evened out the load.
Barbiepinkfairy - I love your reasoning. Will have to keep that one in mind.
TOB - will look for your missing MOJO whilst cleaning this morning. You'll hear my cry of pleasure if I find it for you.
Steph - good luck this afternoon. You'll master the new technique. Just think of it as a 'Sue technique' and all will be well.
Norah - Hello young lady. Today's another new day for you all.

Survived Physio yesterday and came away without any new plans etc to ease my very painful neck. The young lady was very nice but said that she couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know and it wouldn't be beneficial to try any new or lengthy exercises as experts and tests have shown that for long term arthritis sufferers such as me.(over 30 years now). I have to visit again in November when I return from France and in the meantime think about acupuncture/tens machine etc. Have a visit to my lovely GP week after next and will talk with him.

Heh Ho it's Friday so housework again. To all who are feeling a little in need here's a smile/hug and for everyone take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and my Wilsonette Angels,
I love both cards today Sue and even with my addled brain as it is at the moment i could possibly make these beauties up. I love the simplicity of the Joy card as it could be quite easy i think to make a batch lot of them. I know you will have fun at the A P, but please look after yourself as well as having fun as they are long days for you.
To Everyone going to the AP including the Wilsonette Mobile have a great day out girls and most importantly have fun and enjoy. To Paul, you are a man among men doing your civic duty with the ladies. You have been enroled as an honorary Wilsonette.
Pam i hope that your ankle and foot are progressing as they should now and so pleased that Robbie is improving more with each passing day. That young man has a will of iron and such courage. Sending love to him and your brother and family as they are going through but hopefully seeing a light in the far distance.
Cheryl, i am sorry flower that i couldn't wish you well at hospital but i do sincerely hope that you will be feeling better soon after your operation and treatment.
Ita, hope that you are behaving in hospital so that they do a proper job this time as it's not the greatest place to be.
Sending hugs to all my Wilsonette Angels both on blog and not for various reasons. Thank you so much for all the kind messages and support that you give to me. I am finding the days awful long and tiring. I go to get ready to go down to mum's and then remember i can't. You special people from Sue downwards make the biggest difference to my day as i know i am not alone. Thank you my very special family.

Janet(Ecco) i have 2 tens machines that i put 1 set a the top of my back and 1 at the bottom. That and my uddermint helps enormously but with the uddermint you smell like a polo mint. hope this helps flower.

I love twofer days! I think the first card is my favourite , they are both lovely, but the first one stands out more, those holly leaves and berries look so real!
Norah, welcome home, it's great to have you back, I have so missed your wonderful stories! I hope that each day brings you more comfort. It is very kind of you to think about my girls when you have so much to worry about, sending you A comforting hug my friend x
Cameeli I hope you love your show today, take some pics too! Xx
Steph, I sincerely hope all goes well this afternoon, I know what you are going through as both of my older children have psoriatic arthritis and have injections of a horrible drug methotrexate, I hate the though of it in their bodies but it does give them a life back, although Rebecca does suffer with nausea afterwards, Matt has just changed to an 'epi pen' style think, you push the button and it injects itself, it works well for him.
Janet it sounds like your physio appointment was much like mine, they can't physically do anything to help your situation but will offer things like acupuncture when they don't have any answers to reall help you!
I do hope you find some way of getting some comfort x
Pat & Mrs B, well out road trip is upon us, so looking forward to our day out, also looking forward to meeting as many of our blog family as possible!
Big hugs
Sandra xxxx

Good morning Sue and everyone
Two fabulous cards so very pleased we are not asked to choose a favourite! The detail in both is wonderful and both have such a beautiful rich and elegant look about them.

I hope all goes well at AP this weekend for you Sue and you get to meet lots of your loyal Wilsonettes I know some are so excited at the prospect, have fun.

A warm and loving welcome back Norah I have missed you and your reports of your hills so much, you are in my thoughts sweet lady.

Sandra you really brought back a memory for me about D of E it is such a wonderful scheme and a great character builder too. I can still remember my heavy rucksack doing my bronze award oh did my knees buckle. Please give the twins my best wishes and tell them to enjoy every minute of it, you must be so proud of them.
Hope all goes well this afternoon Steph, nothing ventured nothing gained, hope you get lots and lots of relief, you are one brave and thoughtful lady xx

To all going to AP this weekend have a wonderful time and take care, if in doubt buy it, rather than regret it later!!

Warm wishes and hugs to all who need them especially Pam, Steph, Sandra, Cameeli, Lynda, Lyndsay, Norah, Yorkielass and Tina not forgetting Sue.

hi sue, how wonderful these two cards are i can't pick a favourite they are both so lovely, i will have to substitute the peace die for the joy die but i don't have the noel one that will have to be for another time, my poinsettia die has just arrived so excited, so waiting on the EF to come it will be lovely,
everyone going to ally pally have a wonderful time and gets to meet sue and buy some nice things,
redfox i will be a friend for you if you like, i am fairly new to sue's blog or a friend to anyone who wishes it' i live in cheshire and hope to see sue up north one day,
my poor hubby has been diagnosed as epeleptic after having a massive seizure in the early hour of monday morning whilst asleep so we will have to keep things as normal as possible, he started having 'episodes' 14 years ago and was told by the doctor he was having vertigo attacks and was given medication for it, he's had hundreds of 'episodes' in the last 14 years and it turns out the episodes were mini epeletic fits all along, but we know what it is now so we can carry on as normal, i will not have to tell him what i am buying for my crafts so he does'nt have a fit lol regards to all J. oh and thank you sue for these two lovely cards

The NOËL card uses lovely traditional colours. ( Just my kind of card.) I love all your new Christmas background embossing folders Sue. The Holly dies on the Noël card look beautiful !! ( I definitely want to get this die set eventually !!) Thank you so much for your fab "two fer" today. It is much appreciated as with so many cards to make I need help with ideas.

Hya Sue
I just adore anything that you create. You are so informative and very clear with your demonstrations. One thing I would like to know is:- the basic dimensions for layering, how far in do you prick to make the holes along the border, how thick is the layering card pieces and finally is it easy to do the little dots using the cosmic shimmer glue? phew if I can master these basic steps I'm sure I can progress further in my card making. If you are very busy to answer my questions can one of my fellow Wilsonettes help me out here please. I'm not too good health wise at the moment as I'm fighting this drattted cancer so any help to keep my mind of things would be most appreciated. Hugs to you Sue (((hugs to all who can help me))) 'K' xx

Dear Sue,
What beautiful cards today, my personal favourite is the first one with the green embossed background and the Noel sentiment die, so pretty, I love the classiness of the all white card but I love the traditional Christmas colours of the first card. I've not managed to do justice to your paved pearl technique as I always get them too close together and make a mess! I need to practice more!

Thank you for today's wonderful Christmas card inspiration and for all your hard work on this blog.

Best wishes from Katie-Louise sweetlove x
