Best Wishes

Hi bloggers!  A simple petticoat coat using some of my first release dies from earlier in the year.  I started with a piece of pale green card from my stash and cut three California Collection borders to create the bottom petticoat effect on the card.  I glued the to the card from the bottom upwards, slightly overlapping them.  I added small white pearls to the top row as accents.  Using the same green card and my Classic bow die, I made a pretty double bow to sit in the centre of the top border.  For the focal element, I cut the Granada die from my Spanish collection out of coconut white card.  I mounted it on foam and attached it to the top part of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Fancy Tags two die.  Before removing it from the die, I inked it with Shabby Shutters distress ink.  I mounted it in the centre of my focal element.  I cut a white mat and used my piercing ruler to add a pierced frame around the card, then finished it with a single white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.

The winner of the Wednesday Card Giveaway this week is:
Nanny Jo!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.

I will have to delay the Comment Game winners again this week until Tuesday as Julia Watts and I are on another roadtrip this weekend doing workshops and demoing in Taunton.  Please check back  to see if your name has been drawn as a winner then please.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

There are a few extra pics at the bottom of the post for you though!

I promised to show you a few pics from Ally Pally, but I only took but a few!  These are mostly even at dinner after the show!  A promise is a promise though!

Julia and Phill

 Me and Phill
This is Elaine, Linda, Michaela, Judith and Christine, just part of the Creative Expressions team who help work  the stand at Ally Pally!
Pam Smith and her husband Steve.  Pam does our demonstrations in the classroom during the show for us.

I got quite a laugh when Steves dinner showed up and it was an enormous calzone!
This was the only pic taken at the show and I was probably the only one that thought it was funny.  Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated (Mark Twain's quote)  but I couldn't help but pose under this sign at one of the stands that should have said "Sue Wilson's dies"  It was all in good fun though!  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue and everyone, another beautiful card today. Love the photos. Congrats to Nanny Jo, enjoy your card xxx
The cablemen seem to have parked themselves right outside of my bungalow, and they have put their "railings" right around the front of my lawn, round to the drive.
The twins had a lovely birthday which was extended as it was their friend's birthday yesterday so they were having a hot tub party. I can imagine the mess and noise from that one, but I am sure a good time was had by all. Thank you for their good wishes xx
Alison, I hope they sort out Aunties pain relief soon. She is a brave dignified lady.
Dianneandchips and Linday Martin, hope all is okay, missing you both.
Have a good weekend everyone, hugs all round xxx

Well done to Nanny Jo.

I must tell you Sue that I used the 'iced snow' yesterday for the first time, and WOW I love it, what a beautiful product, I think I will have to get some more.....................

So pleased the twins enjoyed themselves Sue, being a twin myself and having twin sisters a year younger then me I can relate to the love we all share, such happy memories for the boys.

I am envious of Taunton, they get a double whammy, both Sue and Julia together, wow.

Enjoy your Saturday everyone, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs June Smith xxx

Morning Sue and my dear Wilsonette friends. How much have I missed this wonderful blog ? LOADS ! Its SO nice to wake up in my own bed. It may have only been 4 days, but an experiance that WILL NOT be repeated that's for sure. Yes Wales is a stunning place, yes the dunes are pretty, but taking a dog that has never had that experiance before was a nightmare ! From the loud noises that vibrate through one caravan to another, seagulls that wear steel toe capped shoes on their feet dancing the Lambada on the roof, jeez, all I can say is thank goodness it stayed dry so Mr L could do a quick escape when it all got too much ! I would say that evening was the best time of day, when the birds slept, but when the 'loud mouths' near by fuel themselves with alcohol, I just wanted to come home ! I'll say no more, just wish it wasn't the only 'break' we could take as it wasn't one for the 'memory book' !!

Still, Im home thank goodness and now time to catch up with the cards and tutorials I missed so much. The cardstock you have used looks like pale green ribbon on the fantastic close up photo's Sue, your photography really does show your cards beautifully. All in all it's a real treat to open my phone to the prettiest of cards and lightens my heart after a long 4 days away.
I will catch up with the other's as the day goes on as I have to prepare all my cards into their relevant baskets ready for market tomorrow.
I hope your demo days are received well (why shouldn't they after all) ?! To Nanajo concgratulations on your card, enjoy. We know its upbringing Sue, but believe me when I say we dont ever expect appologies for anything when you are so busy, its already been said "we all flit in and out" throughout the day anyway : )
Happy Birthday to our Wilsonette. Hope your day is full of crafting pressies : ) enjoy your day.
To those that feel like the 'Tin Man' gone 10 rounds with Tyson (as I do today) I hope you feel much better as the day goes on.
To my dearest friends that feel sorrow, hurt, for whatever reason, may my virtual caring cuddles, and warm shoulder help you get through this Saturday.
Love you.
Lancashire Steph ( I think ) !! xxxxx

morning Sue
I just love your petticoat gifts. They are so girlie and remind me of my much younger days when we had many many layered petticoats made out of net and sugar starched. I think sometimes it was a competition in itself to see who could get the largest number of layers in one petticoat.
Anyway your gift is just lovely/soft and gentle and has gone into my 'must do' box. i will also try it out in different colour schemes.

Sandra - it would be lovely to be able to get together and craft. Just think of the time we would have. I couldn't stand the smell of gin never mind drink it until I was 40. Now I love a gin & tonic in front of a roaring fire of a winter's evening. The same goes for whiskey. Now I love a tot of malt whiskey now and again.

Norah and all other sisters who are not quite sure what Sloe Gin is here is my recipe:

Take one bottle of gin (unopened).
Open and pour half into another bottle or if in need drink!
Wash your Sloe berries you have bravely collected whilst on your walks down the edges of fields and lanes.
Take one fork and prick each berry which you then put into the half bottle of gin.
Continue this wonderful exercise until the gin has reached the shoulder of the bottle.
Take a couple of serving spoons of sugar and place into the bottle.
Then top up with sloe berries until the liquid reaches half way up the neck.
Place the cap on the bottle.
Turn and gently shake the bottle once a week for two/three weeks then leave to mature. This takes anything up to one year or earlier if in need! Repeat the exercise with the other half bottle of gin if you can stand to see another sloe(lol).
Happy Drinking. Drink only in small measures and carefully.
I'm sure that everyone who makes this wonderful drink has their own recipes but that is mine.

Sheila - Have a very happy birthday.

To all who are not up to the mark this morning hope you will be better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Janet x

Steph.....oh Im so sorry your time in Prestatyn didn't turn out to be very memorable. I know what you mean about the seagulls though we have a small flat roof at the back of our house and there must have been babies born quite close by as they used for a runway when learning to fly....talk about 634 (can't remember the right number!) squadron!! Also I don't know what they feed on as you can bet your life that when hubby's had the car washed within minutes it covered with their 'belongings!'..doesn't make him a happy bunny! Hope you have a wonderful night's sleep back in the comfort and peace and quiet of your own bed Steph.
Sending hugs to all in need of them and hope your days get better.

Good morning Sue and my Wilsonettes Angels,
I love the style of this mornings inspiration Sue, but can't quite get to grips with the colour of green, probably because it would make me look jaundice. I think it would look stunning in white as a wedding card which i just might try. Thank you Sue for continuing to inspire us with your stunning creations, because you give us the tools to be adventurous. You have a wicked sense of humour as well Sue. Sorry Sue about yesterday as i got slightly carried away with myself.
Congratulations Nanny Jo on winning your WOW card, just wait until you get it in real life, enjoy.
Wow Pam, i want to be 11 again too, but so glad the boys and their friend had a great party. And when you are 11 that is what it is all about, enjoying life, making a mess and being as noisy as they come.
Alison(Alimecca), i wish healing hugs could take away the pain that your dear Aunt is in, but it can't. What it can do is let her know that she is being though off all over the world and perhaps give her a wee boost. I hope that they can get the morphine dose sorted out for her so that she can be comfortable at least. She is a brave lady having made her decision not to carry on with chemo. Sending her gentle hugs with a lot of love & support.
Happy Birthday Sheila, i hope that you get lovely gifts and have a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday to your husband Dawn (Searle) for today as well. I hope he has a great day watching the Ryder Cup and enjoys being an age he will never be again. If you are getting peaceful crafting time giving waitress service to ensure peace remains is the least you can do on his birthday. Have wonderful crafty time.
Sorry i didn't see your post yesterday and missed your birthday but i hope that you had a lovely day even if you couldn't get to the Taunton crafty demo.
Alison(BarbiePinkFairy) well you do know that because the cakes are for MacMillan they have no calories in them because they are charity cakes so i hope you enjoyed the coffee morning.
Good luck to Sophie and Lucy in their football match, although i hope both girls are feeling a lot better and Lucy's antibiotics are kicking in to help with the ear infection. If still sore for the wee lass Sandra, i put warm olive oil in with a piece of cotton wool to help soothe it for her. I hope that you are going to be wrapped up warmly for todays match as we do not want you getting ill on top of everything else you have to endure. Take care and have fun, hope the girls win.
Pat, i am sending special hugs down to you for your wee granddaughter, with little prayer going up the way for her quick recovery. I am thinking of your family and the ordeal and challenge they must be going through, but she is in the best place with the most talented people that she could possibly have. ((Hugs))

Karen (Magpie), we used to have a gala day in August in the village here, but being honest it was more geared towards the adults and drinking to the early hours of the morning with the music blaring until 4 or 5 in the morning. Well my wee mum was always an early riser and because of the racket couldn't get to sleep and when she did she still woke up at 5:30 -6:00 so come 7:30am when she started her housework she put on War of the Worlds or Phantom of the Opera, both being her very favourite and she would do it through her sound system and would let in the fresh morning air back and front. Can you see where this is leading? She would have it so that she could hear it down the bottom of the garden which is 50' away and she was deaf, so as i say you can see where she was going with this i trust as she thought that if they were going to keep her up all night with their music, swearing and shouting, well she would treat them to some culture and have them up at a decent time of the morning. Sometime she would put them on continuous loop, open the windows all up and go out for the day. ooo could she be a minx. As for Phantom and War of the Worlds, well she just loved them and never got tired of listening to them.
Awh Steph, i am so sorry you didn't have a good break as you needed some reviving time and some fun time with wee Cassie. But as you say there is definitely nothing like sleeping in your own bed. I know you have a lot to do today flower to get ready for tomorrow but please don't overdo it and make yourself ill. I hope that you have a great market tomorrow though and sell lots of WOS(wonders of Steph). Sending crafty hugs to welcome you home as it is so lovely to see you here again. Steph we have another Norah/Steph/ Lynne on the blog that is as mad as us in Dawn (TxCowgirl). I think we must be a bad influence sometimes and then i think...Naaaahhh. Hee hee hee.
Thank you Janet(Ecco) for that as being a soda water and lime when out(oooo i really know how to push the boat out don't i)i have never heard of Sloe Gin, but there again there is a lot of things my sheltered up bringing has never heard of. Have you ever seen a 48 year old blush? Well i do on a regular basis when i see my friend who has always been more worldy wise than me, and boy does she have a good laugh at my expense and i still have no idea what she is talking about. Maybe one day when i am older(because the brain hasn't gone past 19)i just might try and be adventurous, but not the now. Enjoy your Sloe Gin girls and have one for me while your at it.
From a cold but beautiful day here at Glenochil i wish you all a great day wherever you are in this great world. Sending hugs to all my Wilsonette Angels as you boost me up like no-one else.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Beautiful card.
I, like many, am thrilled you haven't succumbed. Just shows how important grammar is, and how so many don't know how to use it properly.
Enjoy your road shows this weekend.

Hi Sue,
What a super card! It is beautiful and I love every bit of it!
Not a big lover of some shades of green but I do like this one!
The photos are lovely Sue. Thank you for sharing them. The last one did make me laugh! At least the sign didn't say Sue Wilson Dies Here!! It reminded me of Lynn Truss's book - Eats Shoots and Leaves!
Steph - so sorry your holiday was not what you would have liked. There are so many inconsiderate people around. Hope you have a really good day tomorrow.
Sheila L - Happy Birthday! Hope you have a lovely day.
Pam - you sound a bit fenced in there! Hope they finish up very soon and don't leave too much of a mess.
Diane - just realised you are Dianeandchips! I've been away but am probably a bit slow as well! Good to have you back!
Alison - your Auntie is a brave lady. My Mum made that choice too. She helped us rather than the other way around. Will pray Auntie's medication really helps to make her comfortable. It can be done. Sending love to you both. xx
Dawn - in USA - keep posting! Just catching up here. Poor little Yogi . Hope he's ok. Well - sloe gin! What do you think? Have you got any concoctions from the US?
Hope you better really soon.
Sending love to everyone including, Norah and Rory, ( loved the music story - my husband did something similar with Eine Kleine Nachtmusik) , Lynne, Lynda, Lindsay, Tres, Alison , June, Janet - great recipe x, Sandra, Diane, TOB Theresa, Julie L, Anne, Sheila, Brenda L and Sue - hope you have a great weekend.x

Hi again. I have caught up with the cards but not all posts yet ! PAM - Im so delighted you sound like you are turning that very long and frustrating corner you've been struggling for SO long now, well done. Please dont rush to get behind the wheel though. You have worked so hard, battled with us 'nagging' you to rest up, being patient has payed off. Well done Pam, like lovely Robbie, you will get there.
Nirah, dearest Norah, its lovely to read your comments again, and im certain mom will live on in your heart even more so when she see's you settled in her family home. You are doing so well (mask or no mask) !
To our new family members, welcome to the most caring blog there is. I look forward to reading all about your craftyness, both good and bad and humerous, your fears and delights. Enjoy your time here.
To those Ive not mentioned that are struggling in any way, I apologise, to those celebrating - congrats. I really have missed Particraft and all those that love being here as much as I do.
Thinking of you all.
Love you.

Hi Sue, I love all your petticoat cards and although I do not have most of these particular dies I'm sure I will be able to concoct something resembling your lovely card.
Great pictures from AP, I particularly like the last one, lol!
Congratulations Nanny Jo on being the Wednesday Winner - not jealous, honestly 
Heather and all the other ladies – I too bemoan the lack of grammar today. I sometimes wonder what exactly the schools are teaching these days. Text speak has an awful lot to answer for. One of my uncles was a printer for a top London newspaper (long before the advent of the computer) and I blame him for my obsession with correct punctuation and although I am sure I don’t get it right every single time I do try my best. A misplaced or missing apostrophe can completely alter the sense of a word or sentence.
Sue, I hope Taunton is being kind to you and Julia and that you are both enjoying the workshops and meeting all your faithful followers.
Frances

Having said all that I have just noticed that it didn't copy over my smiley face after 'honestly' so I have an unpunctuated sentence!

Good afternoon Ladies,
Love the petticoat card, such pretty colours too. I remember that photo at Ally Pally Sue, how funny!
I hope you and Julia had a dab time at Taunton, I expect you were very well received as always!
I on the others and have been on the sidelines at football this morning, we were winning 2-1 until about 3 minutes from the end when the opposition sneaked one past our goalie! Oh girls football is so emotional and dramatic! Haha!
Congratulations Nanna Jo on your card winX
Cameeli, enjoy your sloe picking, you have to pick blackberries at the same time, there are so many berries out this Autumn, the look so beautiful, how amazing is natures autumn palette? I hope that this doesn't mean we are in for a harsh winter as the Wives Tale predicts! Mind you we need a good winter chill to kill some of these bugs!
Well I must go and update my blog, I am so behind today!
Janet, I would love to sit and craft together! I can't stand the smell of whiskey I am afraid, input it in cooking, I made a lovely pudding it used croissants buttered and apricot jam added, the custard was made of white chocolate, malt whiskey and baked like a bread and butter pudding! It was divine! Your Sloe Gin recipe differs from mine, I yes the whole litre of gin, 500g sloes and same of sugar, put in a Kilner jar and turned daily etc, I love it, apart from pricking the berries!
Norah, the olive oil is a tried and tested method in our house, this virus thing seems yo be doing the rounds, Matt has it for the second time, I think that is more down to his lack of immunity, both he and Rebecca take immune suppressant drugs for their arthritis, so they end up being a little more vulnerable! Lucy just asn't shaken it off, bless her, so it was just Soph playing today, only one name to shout today!
I hope you all gave an amazing Saturday,
Big hugs to all of you lovely friends,
Sandra xxx

Congratulations to Nanny Jo.
I'm a stickler for good grammar and punctuation - and, Myra, my daughter bought be "Eats Shoots and Leaves", and "Lost for Words" by John Humphreys as stocking fillers a few years ago. It's surprising how many big organisations can get these things wrong. The BBC being a big culprit.
Alison, I pray that your aunt's suffering will soon be under control.
Pam keep safe, and don't attempt to break out of Colditz!
Janet, love your recipe for Sloe Gin but as I'm T.T. I'll give it a miss.

Hi Sue,

I'm playing catch up again! Yesterday's Angels were lovely and today a colour I wouldn't choose first but I think it works, especially with the textured cardstock. The Austrian borders are on the list (with a whole other load of things!)

Well, I'm sitting listening to the football, yesterday I found a cleaning company who start monday in time for the first interviewee to turn up to a clean house, halfway through speaking to the company boss who had visited Mr. W turned up, 3 hrs early. He'd been sent home from work as he'd pulled his stomach muscles. He wasn't allowed to even clean his workshop. It's a recurring theme as they are very short staffed so he has to do most of the lifting. He had a hernia 10 years ago and he's certain it'll happen again but was so annoyed he couldn't finish his light duties as it means he'll be up even earlier Monday to get it all done before the students get in. I had to distract him from being frustrated so I suggested a walk with the dog to the pub, I was careful but got caught out on a few nasty bumps! Billy enjoys the treats and people watching as well as the walk. The two of them are out at the minute. Mr W announced at lunchtime he's going out for his friends birthday tonight (this friend assumes everyone can do last minute) so I'll be home alone... (mmm, may have to do a little shopping!) I want to craft but suffering from the added stress of yesterday's pavements.

Mr W and Billy are home now, Billy's been good and looks like he wants a cuddle, who am I to refuse!

On account of a head on my lap and a wet nose nudging my hand I'll finish up. Hugs to Wilsonettes everywhere, special hugs to those ill, in pain or recovering.

Happy crafting

T x

Howdy Sue,
Awaiting here for my order from JS, I suppose it takes a while coming from overseas. Your card today features two of the dies in my order, so I think you're teasing me to make me more excited for them to arrive. The paper you used on the little bow makes it look like real grosgrain ribbon. I'm also noticing you sometimes use the Spellbinders along with your dies. I'm happy to see you combine them, as I own a few of them also.
Your eulogy photo was funny, but so glad not fact. How I wish I was there to shop all your dies on the display. Maybe someday you'll have a display like this closer by, would love to see it. In Dallas, TX they have a wonderful yearly convention, at the Gaylord Texan (a magnificent hotel and convention center), wish you could be a vendor there. It's about 4 days, with shopping, demos, contests, and classes. It was packed with scrapbookers and card makers. It seems card making is the growing trend in the states right now, as there has been a decline in scrapbooking. It was fun going to such a well attended show. Maybe you would consider it? If I knew you were coming, let me know if I could help.
Pam, sorry the cablemen are causing you aggravation. Perhaps you will have better services when they're done.
Anonymous, I have always been curious about Wales, my ancestors are from there I'm told (Jones) was the family name (which I know is a very common name). Not really sure how accurate this is.
Thanks for the info on "crackers", I suppose I've heard in the movies the "slightly mad" definition before, that's funny.
Hi June, did I read correctly, your mom had a set of twins, you and your sister, then a year later another set of twins? That's wonderful, very rare though, I would think. What a fun house you must have grown up in. I would have loved to be a twin.
Hi, Nanna Tina, my grandkids call me Nana Dawn, so Nana or Nanna must be a universal term. It is funny how some words, even in the same language have different meanings. My husband speaks Portuguese, and Spanish, as they are similar, but they do have differences. He was volunteering at our church helping some Mexican ladies to learn English. He kept using the term "embarrassado", which is embarrassed in Portuguese, but they would just giggle when he said this. Later he learned in Spanish, it can mean "pregnant". Please help educate me if I use a term unknown to you, or if I need a correction on an improper usage.
Anonymous, so sorry your vacation was not what you hoped for, there's no place like home. Someday I would love to come to England, take one of those river cruises I've read about.
Norah, your mom sounds like a woman to be reckoned with when need be. My mom would bang pots around so loud, it'd give you a headache, if she thought you'd slept too late.
Myra, sloe gin sounds interesting, would love a sip, but still not sure about why pricking the berries is disgusting, do they have thorns, or do they smell? Lately the popular concoction around here is a "watermelon margarita". This area is the watermelon capital of the USA, so I guess that's why. Very good drink I might add.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Ooooo, I so love this Sue. Gorgeous pale green and I love how you have used the border die for the petticoat effect. Just stunning! I hope you and Julia have had a great time in Taunton! It's wonderful that you give so many people the confidence to make the beautiful cards that you all do xx All the photo's are brilliant! It's lovely to see all the people who work silently in the "background". Nice to see photo's of everyone, Julia and you and Phil too. Love the last one! This speaks volumes as I'm sure you are probably doing what so many husbands would want to do because of all the gorgeous dies and stamps that you have designed! (just kidding!) Lol! It's good to have a sense of humour! "Thank you" Sue for the great photo's...love the smiley chap! Sending lots of love and hugs to you and all your family xx Congratulations Nanny Joy on winning the Wednesday giveaway! It's hard to believe but it looks even more gorgeous in real life! Cheryl, hope you had a good birthday and hope you are fine x Lancs Steph, sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your break. I won't say "holiday". Seagulls just love to do the Rumba on the roof don't they? We lived in Scarborough for 2 years. We fell in love with a new pale blue Kia Picanto, mainly for my mobile carers job. They asked us if we wanted a coat of this stuff to put onto the car. It was a deterrent to protect the car from the acid that was in seagull poo! We were so glad we did as it stood us in good stead! We don't have "her" now as we gave "her" to someone else in the family but she's still great after 9 years...and counting! "She" was a fantastic little car and we would recommend a Kia of whatever size or model. xx

Norah, I love the story about your mum and the neighbours. She sounds like a wonderful and fiery lady who gave the "tit for tat". (What you do to me, I will do to you!). I hope it brought back many wonderful and funny memories of her xx WE are the lucky one's who have been blessed with the people who are and have been a part of our lives. My mum gets hurt by remarks from people which, understandably, is very hard for her....a lot of cases are, they don't think before they speak. She just rings me up and tells me about it. It is good because it gets it off her chest! She is well known as the neighbourhood watch! She has a glass display cabinet at the top end of the livingroom so she can see who's coming and going! It makes her feel useful bless her! When there is a local party we keep her a happy but a busy bee when we decide to sleep over. Wednesday night is one of them. It's a Glam Rock 70's show which I am sooo looking forward too. She has said though, that the rates have gone up through inflation. It is now £18 for just bed and £20 bed and breakfast! Whoo hoo! A bacon and egg breakfast for £2 which can't be bad! She's not realised she hasn't added vat on top of that....and this is someone who worked in a wage office.....Just kidding! Wheely bad, sending love and hugs to you and to your husband xx Hope your fingers got some bargains after the walking for the shopping treat(s).....!! xx Alison, sending loads of love and hugs to you and your aunty, bless her. It is a long and hard journey.... The free will is in all of us as to what we want to do in this or any other situation. Then there are some of us are lucky and some of us are not....They will give her the morphine dose that will help to ease her pain. She is in the best capable hands with the "earth" angels that we have been blessed with..... xx XX Helen, "Happy 2nd birthday" to your lovely dog! xx Sending love and hugs to Lynne, Yorkielass, Pam, Norah, Alison, Lyndsey, Lynda, Txcowgirl, NannaPat, Tina, Sandra... and to all our wonderful Wilsonettes who are sad and hurting, I send a multitude of loves and hugs to you all xx Take care everyone xx Love Karen xx
