Squared Rectangles

Hello my crafty friends!  Today's video shows a great technique for changing the look of your rectangular shaped dies, giving you much more versatility and value for your die use.  I hope you can take a few minutes to check it out.
Julia Watts has shows on C &C today at 9am and 3pm  with brand new Taylored Expressions stamps if you are able to tune in.  She always has beautiful samples and interesting demos so the shows will be well worth the watch.

Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. What a beautiful card. Love the yellow/white combo, it's so pretty : ) I love it when you show us how to get even more use out of our dies. By the way, I wouldn't be without my scotch tapes. They do a great job, the sticky tape is so easy to use and the removable tape really is easily removable, unlike other brands that I had tried. A roll of each lasts for ages too, doesn't it. I do often wonder just how much you get through in a normal week Sue : )
Sending Pam my hug, it's stopped raining here in Oxon, for the moment anyway, I hope Hartlepool dries up too : )
A hug for all Wisonettes in need today especially Gail and Jean.
Myra P, I always read all of the comments so yes, I did see yours from last night : )
Norah, I hope you are having a good day today and your hills are in clear, sunny view. Thank you for asking about Gemma. She failed her driving test on Tuesday so wasn't too happy, as you can imagine, but was offered the accountancy job yesterday so she is now over the moon. We are delighted, and of course like any parents, so proud of her.
I hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

From a very wet morning here in Sheffield. So coffee with you this morning was very much appreciated(lol).
Today's gift just shows how your beautiful dies can be used in so many different ways. Will be cutting and sticking with my rectangles just to see how beautiful they look.
Today's colour scheme is so gentle and fresh and the bling around the edge reminds me of morning dew sparkling in sunshine.
Given that it's pouring down I'll be trying to stay calm whilst I try and create two gifts for two pesky males. Oh how I loathe having to create for men.
Take care and see you tomorrow.

Beautiful! I love how you have turned a rectangle into a square - another thing I would never think to do even though I've seen you do this on tv before. Really do like the basket weave folder as well. Hope your weather is better than it is here in Durham today - it's pouring down!
Gail sorry to hear your brother is back in hospital but know that everyone here is sending love and very gentle hugs to you and all of your family. Lynne enjoyed the antics of fur babies yesterday with the toy in the bed! I can just imagine the scene! My fur baby Scamp the cat, has taken one look at the weather and is now curled up tight in bed with the duvet all around her! Being spoilt today by hubby as it's my birthday already had breakfast made for me which is a novelty! Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a beautiful card you have done for our delight today Sue. I have really fallen for your custard card as it is a beautiful shade, not too strong a custard colour, but a rich soft colour(a bit of a contradiction there but you know what i mean hopefully). I haven't watched the video yet as waiting for peace and quiet( when son is away to school and i'm not shouting at him to get ready).
I hope that all our babysitting grannies that are getting a break over the childrens bank holiday enjoy their time off from duties. When i was working i was just as lucky with my mum both getting the children ready for school and taking Kirsten when she was younger to both nursery and then primary school as i put her to the wee school up at Fishcross. Thank you girls for backing up my thrifty purchase, still hidden in the car the now though.
Gail, i hope that your brother comes out feeling a wee bit relief even if it is only for a short period of time. You and him are very much in my thoughts the now but all you can do is be there for him.
Mrs B, i am so happy that your beautiful, clever daughter got the job of her dreams, as for the driving test, she can take it again and she'll not be as nervous the next time. Well done EMMA.
Carol, i hope you have a great day in London and enjoy War Horse.
Heather, 5 staying, oh you will be knackered when they go, have they presented you with the gold medal for staying power yet? Have a great time with your wee bundles of joy.
Janet(Ecco), change today's colour scheme for male subdued colours, minus the bow and you have the best of both worlds then? But then i have to come up with a different train card each year for my "adopted" father. He is train mad, 87 this year and has 10s of thousands of railway photo's. The reason he is my adopted father is because he was engaged to my old friend as a teenager, and then they went in other directions. He married her friend, she married first a police man(15years married) and then another man whose wife died giving birth to his daughter. She was married to him for 25years before he died and then she met her one time fiance afterwards and they have been married 20 years now. Well "father" has a son and "mother" has a daughter, so they decided to adopt me in the middle to give the sense of reason between the two opposites of children that they have. They have been like grandparents to my children and are wonderful with just how they talk to and are interested in whatever they are doing. My only regret is that they aren't their real ones, but they are better than the ones they have from my hubbies side.
OH, 2 new fur babies to join our group which means more tails (sorry couldn't resist)or comedy to come. I love the antics of our combined fur babies as you couldn't make it up some of the things that they get up to. Well yesterday turned out lovely up here at Costa de Glenochil, but today it is cold and the dark clouds don't help any, but my hills are showing up in all their glory today so i'm happy with that. See you all tomorrow hopefully and with gentle hugs being sent to our more fragile friends here on the blog, you are still being thought of each day, but you have some such a painful road, i hope that some of the happy times start to come to your mind and bring happiness back to your heart.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Another great technique for us Sue,I saw you do this one on c&c but then my mind hid it in the far recess of my brain so shouldn't remember exactly how to do it. Lovel card but what's new, all your cards are amazing.
Happy Birthday Alison, I hope the weather cheers up for you and you manage to get out and have a great time. Norah, those that choose you are often far better than family, you are very lucky to have two special people in your life.
Gail so sorry your brother has had to go back in, I am keeping my fingers crossed they can stabilise him again. Well done to Mrs B's daughter on the job, and the driving test well she can try again, it's never a bad thing to fail first time, my daughter did and I think a better driver for it. Sandra I'm glad the kittens have recovered from their jabs, poor things it's always such a shock for them and of course we can't explain to,animals why they have to undergo these things. Carol hope that you enjoy War Horse I have been told how good it is so am very jealous of you. Myra I always go back and read comments, so it was great to hear from you. Lynne hope those girls are behaving and Norah forgot to say yesterday well done on your savings. Well better get on, the foals are not so happy today they were all very damp when I went to see them first thing, but it's stopped raining here now so should soon be drying off and running after each other again. Take care all hugs xxx

Fur babies running around impatiently waiting for my eldest daughter to arrive so they jump all over her ( its great cuz it gives me a break)luckily the thunder/lightning held off last night so no scaredy babies under the covers me included. Hi Sue,
Good morning crafting friends! Yes! I made it before noon!
What a beauty today , Sue, yet again! I like Norah really love the custard card. Know what you mean about the shade - more homemade custard than Birds custard powder!
Your flowers and leaves I use all the time and the lovely fern leaves too. Have used the rectangle to square a few times since you first showed us. Thanks again Sue. Nice sparkly edge too.
I'm astounded that so my people read the late night comment. So thanks P in Wales, Mrs B - so pleased your daughter got her job. Well done! Driving tests can be retaken . We warned our son not to drive too fast in his test as they'd think he was a teenage tearaway! Yes - they failed him for going too slowly!
Heather enjoy your holiday , hope you get some nice weather as well as crafting weather!
Carole enjoy War Horse I'd love to see that.
Sandra, love the names of your bundles of joy!
Alison happy birthday - love the beach at Bamburgh! Shame about the rain?
Gail sending love and praying for you all.
Norah, did you ever get that shawl finished to your exacting standards? Hope so! Wool was a great buy! x

Hi Sue,
It's me again. Just wanted to say totally agree with Mrs B's comments on the Scotch Tapes. The removable tape I had before was dreadful - stuck to everything including the cutting plate - decided if Sue uses Scotch Tape it must be pretty good! I bought some and it made an amazing difference . It easily comes off in one piece and does not tear or shred . The double sided tape is super as no top paper to remove. That and cosmic shimmer glue sticks just about anything! Hope this helps someone.
Have a good afternoon.
Tres , hope you ok too! x
Love Myra

Afternoon Sue. Evening all Wilsonettes. Thanks to Sky our wifi and phone down for a lot of the day, so Ive been like an expectant father pacing the corridor waiting to hear the 1st cry, waiting for my 1st glimps of our Thursday card AND video, was I disapointed ? Hell NO. Its a Sue W.O.W.
So now Ive added 2 more things to my list ( should I add it to the 'lying around list' or my own 'if only wish' list) that yet has to be decided : ) so whilst waiting for Sky to get the problem sorted.I had to make a hat type thing ready for our daughters Hen Party this weekend ! A hat indeed, I dont DO hats, I look a right numpty in a hat, its for the Mad Hatters Tea Party in York Sunday afternoon (dungeons + meal + club in York Saturday evening) CLUB - ME ! I'll be the grandma of the club lol oh boy Im dreading it ! So Ive made a cup and saucer decked it up with quilled feux blossoms, used a border die and twisted it round my poky tool and it looks like swirling steam lol ! And used circle/small rectangle dies and made them look like biscuits sitting on the saucer along with a silver mirri spoon ! All attatched to a padded alice band, if only I was more creative and artistic, hohum.
Hen do or not I wont miss stopping by, as this family is my world, thank you.

Gail - I really hope the consultant can help keep your brothers pain a little more under control so he can be home with those that adore him
again.
Tina - Thinking of you, especially on 24th - your daughters wedding blessing will be particularly hard this time even more so than her wedding. I shall be thinking of you so very much hon.
Must take Mrs B's reccommendation on board as my stensil tape is heading towards the chuffin window big time as it refuses to keep any of my dies in place, so Im going Scotch lol.

Going to send love n thanks to you Sue for the most beautiful card again along
with your brilliant tutorial and wish for you a lovely sunny afternoon with mom.
And to Pam and all here that need a gentle hug ((((((( ))))) for you.

Hi Sue,
Just read Steph's comment!
Wow, Steph that sounds like a gorgeous hat!
I know Hen Nights can be tricky - hey I hadn't been to one until I was almost sixty!
Was dreading it - but was only a dinner and an overnight stay at a Hotel/ Spa but I was terrified! I enjoyed it in the end very much. Having had sons, this was a totally new experience for me.
Relax and enjoy it - you will at the very least have the BEST hat.
Love Myra x

Hi Sue,

I just watched this video and noticed that the die you used is the VALENCIA not SEVILLE. Perhaps you can bring that out in some way for those that want to order that particular one, so they won't be disappointed. I love this technique, thanks for the reminder. Another beautiful card.
