Faux Letter Press

Hi crafters!  It's a long one today, a video to watch (showing the letterpress technique with a die), a second card to see and pics of my Mom's surprise party.  I hope you have a few minutes to enjoy it all!
Buy from Joanna Sheen

Today's extra card is a really fast card to do which, I know, we all need from time to time.  I started with kraft card (which I love) and used the Justrite butterfly stamp from the Butterfly Kisses stamp set.  Using Adirondack Snow Cap pigment ink, I stamped the butterfly several times across the card, going off the edges on both sides.  I used a Black Archival ink pad to stamp the sentiment.  I also stamped the butterfly in black in the lower area of the card (between the white butterflies) and one more time on a separate piece of kraft card.  I cut out the extra butterfly, but nipped away the antennae on it.  I used a white gel pen to highlight the butterfly then added it directly a top the stamped image so the antennae showed from the stamped image.  I used Black Soot distress ink around the edges and then used my scissors to distress them.  I matted it with a thin black mat, then added a white pierced layer and finished with another thin black mat and a white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size.

Here are a few pictures from Mom's surprise party.  I had a bit of problems with the sun coming through the windows so most of the shots are pretty washed out.  I still liked this one even if it is a bit over exposed!

Here is her cake, not a calorie in it! LOL

My Mom has never owned a pair of jeans in all of her life and she made the mistake of telling that to everyone a few weeks ago.  One of the presents everyone got together to give her was her very first pair of blue jeans!

Here she is opening up the other present they got her....

It was a hat!  She loves hats!

Group photo!
Roger and Earl in their party tiaras, Mom in her new hat!  It was a fun breakfast party
though, everyone takes such good care of my Mom when I'm not there.  They are the best!

All for now, Sue x

Beautiful cards Sue. The letterpress card looks a bit like wrought iron so I think I might try it in a blend of brown tones or gilding flakes and make a male card with your ideas. Your mum looks amazing for her age, obviously she has passed on her good genetics!

Hi Sue, thanks for showing us the lovely photos of your Mom's party. She does look amazing.

Two super cards today and a video. How I wish your blog and the videos had been around when I first had a die cutting machine - I was sure the die cutting police were waiting to pounce on me when the dies made that cracking noise. I felt I must be doing something wrong and either the die or the machine was going to break!!

Nick so pleased you have your vouchers and that we were able to help. Keep up your good work.

Cameeli have a wonderful day on Saturday. You'll treasure the memories you make. Mrs. B hope you had a great birthday. Hugs to all.

Your mom looks on top form Sue, what lovely pictures, The cards are so pretty, the first with the large aperture lends itself so well to a wedding photograph frame, although it's just stunning as it is. Anne x
