Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  I haven't really shared anything with gilding flakes for awhile so I thought I would offer up this card for the giveaway this week.  I started by cutting the Indonesian Borders without the outer cutting edge.  I did two on either side edge of a piece of coconut white card.  I covered another piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet and attached the bordered background to it.  I used Gemstones Gilding Flakes to cover all the exposed areas, then matted it with black card.  For the focal element, I used the Flake and Glitter glue and stamped the Island Blooms Stamp To Die For that matches the Sumatra die outline.  I cut the Sumatra die in black and cut it in half and used the decorative edges so that they are just peeking out from under the stamped image top and bottom.  I stamped my sentiment in black then covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet.  I created a thin black frame for it using the inner ovals from the Java and Sumatra dies, then peeled the backing paper off the sentiment and seated the frame.  I covered the exposed adhesive with Diamond Sprinkles and added it to the centre of the die.  I used the Shaded Succulent stamps with black ink on white card, then cut the out with the matching succulent dies.  I inked the edges with Baked Peach Colour Cloud and Sunlit Cedar and assembled them, adding black pearls to the centres.  I added them around the sentiment with a thin satin ribbon bow as accents.  White and black mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.  Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing to win this card.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and Wiksonettes, beautiful card, so lovely. Someone will be very lucky
Elaine, I hope Andrews appointment with his Consuktant goes well today,, and that his next treatment can go ahead.
CreweTrish, I hope your brother can also get the treatment that he needs. My hugs for you and Elaine living through this nightmare, and your families too.
Maureen, so glad the physio assessment went well, why wouldn't he be impressed with you, we certainly are. Can imagine you on your little seated zimmer, watch out all pedestrians.
Rosemary, hope Dylan is back to his normal self, the fur will grow back, fingers crossed the results are good.
Yvonne and Laine, missing you girls, hope Yvonne gets her tablet back soon.
Somehow not looking forward to work today, might seriously think about reducing hours or giving up altogether but then how would I fund my die addiction, lots to ponder.
Daily hugs to all. Special ones to missing and poorly friends and their carers, also those who are worrying about family members.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a beautiful give away card today, someone is going to be a very lucky person.

Pam I reiterate all you have said above. It is also such a shame that you are considering reducing your hours or even giving up altogether, you should never feel pressured into anything like this because of the way you are treated at work, yes I know what it is like and went through something very similar when I was at work but happily for me our personnel and senior directors saw what was happening and supported me through such a terrible time, the person concerned was eventually dismissed, but I was under the doctor for months and it knocked me for six I can tell you. But on a happy note, you sound as if the medication has kicked in, and you are feeling better. special hugs to you for today xx

I am off to craft club this morning, we are doing a card designed by one of our craft group so I can take a step back today.

Is anyone else looking forward to this weekend at Detling, I certainly am.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Morning Sue. How on earth do you do it ?
You spend time thinking of which dies to choose then a design and colours, will you use a plain background or something powerful, which focal element and floral die to finish the sample sentiment or no sentiment and as usual we see the most gorgeous inner thoughts of your crafting mind, then you give it away !!! Good job you make more than one of each sample that's all I can say. It's beautiful Sue. I still have two un-opened tubs of gilding flakes on my shelf, the colours just twinkle at me when the sun catches them so why am I still so frightened of them after all this time ?
Thank you Sue for sharing your beautiful inspiration with us. There are so many words to describe each and every sample you show here, but for now I'll send my love n hugs to you and hope you have a lovely day ☺ xxx

Good morning Sue. Beautiful card, always a fan of anything with gilding flakes! Thank you for your continued inspiration.
Pam, we'll all be with you in spirit today! I know it's a hard decision to make but health has to come first. I have to believe that there is something better round the corner, it's all that's getting me through the next 47 school get ups! Do bosses not realise that a happy workforce is a productive one? I'll jump on your echo train as it heads south. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Stunning card. Whoever wins it will be very lucky. Good luck everyone.
Hope all goes well Pam. There's nothing worse than not being happy at work. I think many of us have been there at some point in our working lives so can sympathise with your situation. My hubby has to go to Chesterfield today so have convinced him to drop me off at the shopping outlet at j29 of the M1 on his way and pick me up on his way back. I'll only get about an hour but should be able to have a good browse and maybe a new handbag?
Thoughts and prayers to all especially sick and missing friends.
Happy crafting,
D xx

Really like this giveaway card, Sue. Gilding flakes are the one 'messy' that I seem to get on with! Colours great, love the use of the stamp and pretty flowers - altogether splendid.
Crewe Trish, fingers crossed for your brother. Was up your way yesterday - near a little place called Tiverton. Travelled up from SW Wales mainly on lesser A roads, only bit of dual carriageway in 140 miles was the Shrewsbury bypass. Have to say Shrops and Cheshire such lovely counties - GB so beautiful at this time of year when the trees have their new fresh coats and the verges full of blossom.
Fluffycat - Viz trapped and for the chop today. No owner found - and he's attacked someone's cats about half mile away and sadly one has disappeared. More of a rural prize-fighter with a touch of rape and pillage thrown in, than a 'man about town' lol. Hope when the t-level drops he can enjoy his life and be less of a problem. Will continue to feed if he sticks around.
Rosemary - so pleased Dylan okay for now.
Pam - fingers crossed that you're not put in a difficult position today, will be thinking about you. Echoing as ever.
Hugs to all - missing Laine and PP.

Please don't be pressurised into doing something you are not happy with but your health and well being are far more important that not enjoying your job. It is a hard decision to make but if leaving work will make you happy and will be better for your health and you can afford to live without the money (craft habit aside!) then it's an option to consider. I hope your family friends and colleagues are giving you lots of support. Xxx

Hi Sue, a beautiful card that I don't think I would be able to part with! I love the design and the gilding flakes but sadly do not have any of the ingredients you have used but I will have a play with some that I do have and hopefully create something different but worthwhile.

'P' - paws crossed for Viz and hopefully the op will help him calm down. I'm sorry for the cats that he attacked and hope the missing one returns soon. I have put out feelers re our special visitor but no joy yet. I say that he/she is special because it is very young and only has three legs but that doesn't seem to stop it getting around.

Pam - thinking of you today and others have already given good advice, you have to make the best decision for you as it is your life to live and not endure.

Sam - have a lovely time in Mauritius, spare a thought occasionally for us.

Good evening Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Lovely colours in todays card Sue, and i can finally say that i have opened one of the boxes with the gilding flakes in them and tried it at long last, i've only had them about 3 or 4years now before being brave enough to open the lid on a tub. My friends bring out the mad side in Norah and i'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, lol. A beautiful card flower and the sentiment is oh so true for i know that i have beautiful friends on this blog that deserve something as special as this. Thank you Sue for bringing in such beauty to our days, have a nice tomorrow.
Oh Pam flower, you would have wondered what kind of nut house you had come into if in my team and especially at Christmas when i got dressed up from the 1st of December to the last. I had to write myself a note and put it on my PC saying that "There are no flowers in the ***, only weeds", it didn't go down to well as you can imagine, it was not there in the morning when i came in so i can only assume that someone took real umbrage at it, but hey ho, i was always getting into bother for calling people flower on the phone, work colleagues not public when i was professional to the last. It was ok for others to call or answer calls saying "hiya pet" or "hello doll" but i was lowering the tone and wasn't being professional by calling people flower. Of course it was all the EO's and HEO's favourites that could do that, so they weren't biased or anything(much). When it was time for good causes they could always know that daft Norah would be in the midst of it all. I thought that "friends" would have kept in touch but i haven't even had a "how are you doing, Norah" from any of them, not even from my so called friends. I do know that there wouldn't be another like me in there to take my place so i feel quite sorry for them. Work is a big part of your life and you have got to enjoy it as best you can and make friends but it started with my knitting which when i left, it was amazing what my simple past time had brought out with lots of others learning and bringing it in to do in their breaks. I won't tell you what i got asked to make one of the times but i told them that i would teach them how to knit it for themselves if said appendage was in the habit of feeling the cold that much, :D lol. They would have 7 weeks of sanity during the summer and then i would be back from my term time leave and there quiet hushed room would be all upside down again because the flower maker was back.
Oh Maureen, the cheek of the man, as i can't think on why he would think you were an old person, just out of your first flush of youth and more understanding and adventurous now, but certainly in no way are you old, cheeky midden. She when you're finished with your list of jobs for George, i could keep him going in more for you just to sort him out and his cheek. Do you want me to trade in my scooter for a tandem buggy? Although we will need it revved up a bit!
Rosemary, i'm glad your little friend is out the other side of their op and it'll just be a tad longer than a fortnight for their hair to recover, just slightly, :D the main thing is you have Dylan back home and all he needs is some more hugs and spoiling.

Well yesterday was one of those days when i had young Master Fox and he was in fine fettle and my arms just about broke off from pushing him in the swing of his. I tried in vain to show him how to propel himself back and forth but wasted energy not to mention breath. Oh how glad was i to see him go to nursery to see his wee friend Mo. Molly was one of the wee girls that was born around the same time as him as all their mummies work together as nurses in Forth Valley Royal and the wee ones have a strong bond between each of them. He left the house looking as if a wrecking ball had happened instead of just him coming to his granny's to be watched for the morning. It's taken me a whole day and some to get over it and i have him back again tomorrow. Next week his other grandparents are away for 10 days so i will have him twice next week as well. PP and Laine where are you so that i come too, please????
Laine, i hope that you are ok flower as contary to what is being said, you and PP are both missed a lot, so if you're having to be good, be careful but what fun is that?
Elaine, oh i am pleased that Andrew has got the go ahead for his continuing treatment, although i hope that the sickness stays at bay for him. Tell him that Helen could do with him giving her back a massage, although all fun aside i'm glad that she is that wee bit brighter as well, it makes your job as Mum to this incredible young man a lot easier with this latest development, fingers and everything is crossed for him flower.
Sending hugs to all my wilsonettes friends that need, want or could just do with some,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil Village)

Good evening Sue. Another beautiful card.
Been missing for a few days as I was busy with basket orders. Youngest daughter celebrating her 40th birthday so it's been all go.
Pam. Your daily summery is top notch as usual.
Maureen. Behave that 4 wheeled zimmer is to make things easier for you, not cause more injuries. Also it's not to be put to one side and used to store things on.
Elaine. Glad Andrew can go ahead with his treatment. Yes he needs to take those anti sickness pills. I tried being brave and not taking them when I started my chemo, I only did that once I leant my lesson.

Good morning Sue and all other blog readers. Todays card is so beautiful and I would love to have more tutorials on the use of gilding flakes as I too have a few jars of them that I've never dared to open. I started learning to make cards about 3 years ago at the facility for blind and low vision people. I soon became addicted to the craft and bought pretty well all I thought I would ever need (How wrong can you be) and gilding flakes were purchased at that time. I dread to think how much of my children's inheritance I have spent since then. I have been retired for 31 years and wonder how I ever found time to go to work!
I'm rambling on a bit today so apologise for that.
Hugs to all.
