Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!   Teal, white and black are the colours for today's card giveaway!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and used the decorative die from the Rippled Striplet to cut the design into each side of the card.  I backed it with another piece of white card for a tone on tone look to the background.  Next I used the same die on a smaller piece of coconut white card and cut the design side b side.  I backed it with teal card, then added a thin black mat.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached it down the centre of the background.  Using the inside frame from the Bermuda, I cut it out of teal card and backed it in white and cut the centre out to create a frame.  I added mounting foam to the thin edge to raise it.  I stamped my sentiment, then added a decorative frame using the centre of the Bermuda die.  I added the teal frame over it and seated it in the centre of the striplets.  I made three teal flowers out of the Striped Nasturtium die set and used the outline in black on top of each of them.  I seated the flowers around the sentiment with a black satin ribbon bow and matching stick pins.  White, teal and black mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  Leave a comment if you would like to be entered into the drawing to win this card.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x   PS We still have two unclaimed dies from the drawing last week, please check the list that was posted on April 27th to see if it was you!

Such a beautiful card for the Wednesday Giveaway, someone will have a treasure.
June, hope the conservatory furniture was delivered intact and that your meds were available.
Laine, sorry to hear you are not feeling good, hope you feel better soon.
Elaine, what did doc have to say.
Yvonne, glad you are back in the Internet world, good negotiations .
Saba, they do say a bird leaving you a gift is lucky but not on your white trousers. Hope you soon get your cottage sorted, it sounds cold and uncomfortable at the moment.
Rosemary, I hope the blog ladies can provide you with some support and comfort. Such a lot of us have experienced the caring comfort from them and are happy to help others.
Sharon, thinking of you, hoping the results were good.
As always, my daily hugs fior all, especially our poorly and missing friends, their carers and long suffering hubbies, George and John.
So happy to see Nirahs post yesterday Yahhhhh

Morning Sue. I'm feeling terribly guilty when I see your beautiful samples and those on the fb group made with all the gorgeous striplet dies as I can't remember the last time I treated myself or was treated to one of these little beauties I think the last I bought was the Meadow Striplet !! That's a blast from the past I do have a few but none that are recent (although they are on the gift list) off to do some supply shopping later I think so I'll see what my little shop has in stock ☺ after all there are some beautiful Striplets and you've made the most gorgeous sample to part with this week, the colours and design are beautiful a real Sue card ☺
So that's me done, so I'll send love n hugs and say tarra till tomorrow xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh yes a very pretty card today, the colours go so well together, someone is going to be a very happy little bunny when the winner is announced.

Pam yes the furniture was delivered, although they said they could not get it through the door, hubby said why not take the packing off and wolla it worked, so all in place and very nice it looks too. Finally got my meds. yesterday afternoon, took the first one this morning (that is a week after the prescription was initiated), lord help me if I needed anything in an emergency.

I think it was Izzy who said about Windows 10 and Serif etc. well I use Serif a lot and I have had no problems at all with using it with windows 10 - hope this is helpful to you.

Jumping on Pam's bandwagon again and reiterating everything she has said, your wonderful Pam to help us so much.

Sue are you on the One Day Special tonight on Hochanda, or is John or someone else showing your dies.

Off to craft group this morning, doing stamping and embossing......looking forward to it.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue,
I love the teal colour way and design of today's card. The Rippled Striplet is going on to my wishlist, such a pretty die. A wonderful giveaway for one lucky person.x

Unknown said...

Dear Sue and Blog Friends

As nice as the Rippled striplet was cut into Tuesday's card, it's even better in this one. I just love how it looks when you offset them so the fat parts match up with each other and the narrow parts match up with each other instead of the channel look that the die has by itself. I think there might be a word missing in the description of how you did the teal-backed striplet section in the center. Anyway, it seems a shame to cover up that fabulous look with the focal element framing the sentiment.

Glad to hear the updates on the furniture and the hillsides, the compatibility of Win10 with Serif and especially the bird bomber. An unexpected moment that make a good story although I'm sure it wasn't fun to live through. A fly in the soup merits a refund but apparently not a flying hazard. Unless the hazard had landed in the soup. (Ew, sorry.)

Yvonne, you really described the experience for most of us needing our Particraft fix.

Rosemary, welcome to the circle of caring friends united by the beauty of Sue's creations and the thrill of trying it ourselves.

Laine I hope this latest bout is short-lived.

Plus what Pam said.

Love,
Donita

Lovely card for the giveaway, Sue, the striplet looks so different from yesterday's offering. Great colours and floral elements too.
Norah - good to see you back with the Ochil news!
Dreadful shock yesterday, one of our summer visiting horses died suddenly - just lay down and died, no forewarning or panic at all. She was 29, retired for years, and her owner (though of course very upset), was hugely relieved that a 'decision' didn't have to be made. RIP Ladybird, a lovely gentle old lady, who enjoyed her last day in the sun. She'll be buried here.
Echoing Pam, as ever.
Hugs to all.

It's glorious here in Cornwall this morning with bright sunshine and a clear blue sky. That's good as I need to go to town to pick up my new specs in about 30 minutes, then I hope I get back in time to accept a delivery as it's a new, bare rooted magnolia tree and I would hate to miss that arrival.

Hi Sue, a really beautiful card for the giveaway and I love everything about it from the colours, the clever use of striplets right through to the flowers and stick pins.

'P' - sorry to read about Ladybird but I think she had a good life and isn't that the way we would all like to go?
Anne R - when matting and layering I think most of us 'gut' some of the base layers (just cutting out a square from the middle leaving enough of a frame for the next layer to cover the hole) and then build the level up with a few foam pads. This not only makes the card lighter but leaves you extra pieces to play with :-)
Sharon - fingers crossed for the biopsy and hope you don't have to wait too long for an appointment.

Good afternoon or is it evening at 18:00 Sue and the happy band of Wilsonettes,
The deep teal green is a striking colour Sue and for me(sorry folks) there is just enough black on it to enhance the designs beauty. Although i don't have these dies as yet(they are on my list to take with me to the next show)the nastrustiums particularily. It has taken a while for these wee flowers to get under my skin but now that they have, they're like an itch that won't go away without doing something about it, so bull by the horns to relieve that one. It's so nice to see your stick pins getting an outing Sue as there is something so pretty about your cards that have them on it, making it look so elegent. OK hands up who all has stick pins in their stash that they haven't looked at for a while? Come on don't be shy, we all have them hiding away just waiting to prick us because we are not giving them any crafty love? I have tried in vain today to make a sympathy card and gave up as a bad idea, i will just go and buy one (swearing i know but needs must). Thank you Sue for a lovely Sue original that we can tell from 20 paces us Wilsonettes, it's like we can always tell who has influenced cards that we see pinned by other people. You know Sue, your creative style has influenced a whole world of crafters and new crafters every day and because of you that some of us keep our sanity. Thank you Sue.
Oh how i wish that everyone could wake up to the wonderful view that i do and it has been such a beautiful day, showing my hills up in all their glory until some midden has set them on fire to burn the gorse and bracken, fizzing toerags that they are. Now there is no livestock kept on these hills for them to be endangered by the gorse and bracken, so i just don't see the need for it. The colours that it adds to the landscape is so lovely and all so very different. Rory has started to take his carer's up the hills on the nice days and Karen, one of them that just loves being outdoors has planned for them to take a picnic next week if it is as bonny. From the weeks after their births, my two were taken walking by me through the wonder of the countryside and the woods and forests. From barking to pressing flowers and leaves, bramble picking to strawberry picking, teaching them what all the different trees were just like Mum did with Jim and I. Although i used to take them out walking they went "off it" for a few years but it's nice to see Rory going back out and doing the nature trails up the hills and seeing the things that you can only truly experience when you are on two feet. It's the smell and the sounds, the quietness that is around you with only the birds and the animals to hear.
Thank you for all your lovely messages at me coming back in, i didn't realise that my wanderings and ramblings were read by so many of you. I will try and be good come in, its just sometimes i get a wee bit down and can't get back up, but i will try and keep upbeat.
Sending hugs to all my lovely Wilsonettes that need, could do with or just want one,you are welcome to mine
love and crafty hugs

Pam hope you are feeling better every day. You have summarised everything beautifully as usual.
Elaine, I hope you, Andrew and Helen all pick up and things brighten for you. I enjoy your gentle hugs and hopefully I'll soon be getting the same ones as everyone else. Every day is an improvement and I hope to run a marathon next week, or at least go up and downstairs by myself ha ha.

'P' sorry to read about Ladybird, but what a perfect way to go.
June S, glad they managed to get the furniture in.
Donita, what a hoot, a bird in Saba's soup - good job she's not vegetarian ha ha.
Izzy, that's a good tip for keeping white trousers white!!
Nannieflash, Get Well Soon.
Maria, sending love.
Pat L, love to you and Sarah.

Hello Sue,
Someone is going to win a very pretty card! It's really lovely and so nice to see the stick pins again! I have some made ready but haven't used them for a while! Until you used it in card making I was never a lover of teal! You changed that! Particularly with a hint of black - it's lovely!
I've had a crazy day! You know when you tidy out a cupboard and you had no intention of doing so - well that's been me today! Ironing next! A woman's work is never done! Ha ha!
Maureen - you are getting chirpier by the day !! Having said that you were even chirpy in Hospital ! So pleased you are improving - there was a lot of room for improvement!!
I laughed at the advice for white trousers too! Likewise skirts - fatal they are!
Laine - I knew you weren't well! Hope you feel a bit better today as we miss you!
Wonder if Saba is stuck in the chimney?
Pam - are you feeling lots better? I do hope so.
Carmen - you made me laugh! Thanks for that! Izzy did too !
Take care, Sharon, Elaine , Norah , Andrew and any others who aren't feeling too well!
Ladybird had a lovely life and didn't suffer! How lovely!
Love to all,
Myra xxx

Hello Sue,
What an absolutely delightful card for the Wednesday give away. Love the teal edged with black especially on the striped nasturtiums, it's just such a striking combination. Glad to see your stick pins are being used again, they always add that little bit of luxury to your cards. Thank you Sue

Pam thank you for your daily update, I'm still sitting on a bit of the sofa surrounded by piled up furniture covered in dust sheets in a chilly sitting room with no tv but the end is in sight, hoping they finish tomorrow.
Dawn I really feel for you, hope it was t an abscess after all.
Donita the bird bomber missed my lunch by a hairsbreath, at least I think it did! But as Maureen quite rightly pointed out at least I'm not a vegetarian !
"P" sorry about Ladybird it must have been quite a shock but a good way to go for her. Hope you are ok now.
Elaine I don't know about Muck for Luck it was more "Muck" YUK! Sorry Andrew is feeling so ill from his chemo, hope he was a bit better when you phoned him.
Izzy, did any of us ever listen to our mothers advice? I'm please to say they came out ok in the wash.
Sharon here's hoping all is well with the biopsy and future treatment, sending hugs as you must be worried.
Nannieflash hope all goes well for you too.
Anne R, I'm like Frances and Trish, I sometimes only use a frame for matting and layering to avoid the weight and I'm a bit frugal at times!
Myra I'm not stuck up the chimney although I did stick my head up the great big hole they made and thought I saw Santa!
Love, hugs and good luck for everyone in the draw.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a fabulous example of your many talents, we have been treated today to a real Sue classic ribbon, flowers and stick pins galore!
The colour palette is fresh and vibrant, the teal mixes well with the crisp coconut white and the touch of black provides all the enhancement it needs as a finished product. The Rippled Striplet is truly wonderful and has created an eye catching background worthy of any focal point even i think, and the Striped Nasturtiums are singing to me seductively...i cant quite believe that i have neglected to purchase them thus far, surely i will have to remedy this gross oversight forthwith! I adore stick pins, any card using them is a masterpiece in my eyes so the lucky recipient of this card is really in for a treat, good luck in the draw my lovelies and thanks to Sue for picking yet another showstopper.
Well, as Norah says, we have had some glorious weather today and the Ochil Hills were shown to their best advantage. I decided to strip off in the heat in the hope that I may make a start to my 2017 tan and no stiff breeze was going to deter me, in fact it was quite pleasant really. A bit of time soaking up the suns rays can do you the world of good both mentally and physically, we have to grab every opportunity we can in Scotland because balmy conditions never last and are soon replaced by wind and rain.
Brodie joined us because he is partial to the sunshine too and we went for a little walk....he's very well trained and follows us everywhere even though he isn't on the lead anymore, only its at his own pace:-) He has been secretly visiting a neighbour who has been encouraging him into her house. She lost her own cat last year so Brodie must give her comfort but I don't like the thought of him getting too cosy because she lives in a flat next door to a woman with a Doberman and two Whippets and he could bump into them and get trapped in the stairwell....he's such a little prostitute though:-), and you can't tell a cat where to go or what to do so I despair!
P, RIP Ladybird, thankfully she passed peacefully in the sunshine which is how I would choose to go too. It must still be a shock though even given her ripe old age, thinking of youxxx
Elaine, sorry to hear Andrew is suffering, what a pity it spoiled his break away. I hope he picks up again soon and is ready for his next treatment. Hope your GP appointment went well too and the home visit for your back helpedxxx
Maureen, you are such a tonic, you have a great attitude and humour which really cheers up miserable old sods like myself:-)
Saba, you really made me chuckle over your white trouser incident:-) Hope you're enjoying your time in Yorkshire despite the draughts and lack of electricity:-)
Carmen, at least someone appreciates some of my many qualities, I never would have thought it would be you though:-) I'm feeling strangely out of sorts at the minute...must be my impending chat with Yvonne tomorrow:-).....but bear with me because it will pass and I will be back to my witty, adorable self again:-)
Sending cuddles to my besties such as Myra, Pam,Pat, Theresa, Maria, Frances, Donita, Tracy, June, Norah, the rest of the Naughty Nine and Yvonne(though it pains me to do so), with special hugs to Sharon following her hospital appointment and both Tina's.
