Hello there my crafty friends! You saw a sneak peek of this one during the blog launch, but it is one of my favourites from the April release so it definitely needed it's day on the blog I think. Don't you agree? It is all about the paper piecing for this one. I cut the Butterfly Stained Glass in coconut white card first, leaving a wide border around the edge. I adhered it to a piece of sticky adhesive sheet and then started cutting all the colours that I needed one by one. The method that I find easiest for this is to cut the die in the colour card that has the most pieces to be used first, then selectively poke out any of the fall away bits that won't be pieced with that colour until I have one the one colour left in the die. I trim the card right up to the outside edge of the die, then carefully lay it on top of the original with the sticky exposed and gently poke out the sections that are remaining. If you are lined up straight, they will go directly into the sections that they are filling and you just need to give them a push to make sure they are adhered well. If you are off slightly, you can usually manoeuvre them into place. Repeat the same process with all the colours you want to use until it is all filled it. Occasionally a fall away piece will come out of the die, but it is easy enough to put those pieces in by hand. I used seven colours and since the pieces are mostly large, it didn't really take too much time. Lastly I created a frame for the scene by covering a piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet the size of the frame that I wanted. I used the die in the centre and drew around it with a pencil and used a craft knife to cut the shape. I peeled the adhesive off and coated it with Diamond Sprinkles, then added mounting foam to raise it and attached it to the card. I completed the card with white and black mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 6" x 7 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x

Dear Sue and Wilsonettes,
Thank you for the tip about how to paper-piece the colors in a stained-glass design. I love how the pieces all have a depth, as if they've been molded around something.
I think die-cutting has revolutionized card making because there is much more color definition than with cards colored using water colors, alcohol markers or colored pencils.
And paper-piecing multiplies that by, in this case, seven.
I hope everyone has a manageable Monday.
Love,
Donita
Beautiful card, love the great description of how to put it all together xx

Beautiful card and even better I have this die, not sure I have the patience for paper piecing though, think this will be another die that looks wonderful over a pixie powder background
Hubby is comfortable and being kept pain free still waiting to see surgeon so he won't be on today's list, fingers crossed for tomorrow
Sending love and hugs to everyone

Hi Sue,

Thank you for today's inspiration.

Morning Sue
I love this card! The die is beautiful as are your colour choices
June x
Hi Sue,
Loving this card, too. But that's a lot of cutting - I wouldn't have that patience. However, I'd colour it in a different way (just colouring with those gorgeous mica watercolours). Will certainly do that with the hummingbird die.
Yours really looks like stained glass, it's gorgeous.
Hugs, Rose
Hi Sue, a beautiful card that deserves to be framed and hung on a wall. I enjoy the quiet time when I am paper piecing but your description of how you do it looks to take a lot of the frustration away so thank you very much, I will be trying this method.
Alison/Alimecca - Happy Birthday! Hope you have a lovely day.
Pat L - what a sorry ending to the wedding day. I hope your husband is at least comfortable and pain free and they decide soon what to do for him.
'P' - How is Yeti, is he settling down yet? I haven't seen Hopalong or his chaperone for several days, hopefully they are ok but I still don't know where they came from.
Pam - thinking of you today and fingers crossed for a good outcome.

I absolutely do agree Sue, it's a lovely card, this set of dies are simply beautiful x
This is a really lovely card. The colours are delightful.
I haven't tried paper piecing, so I will look make notes from your instructions. I really like these dies but haven't got any yet ( concentrating on the Indonesian Collection first, LOL) and I'd like have a go sometime, having seen the beautiful effects you've achieved. But will I have the patience? A different issue!!
Very pretty. Since I love puzzles, putting the pieces in place is fun for me. Once I've cut detailed dies for this technique, I leave the cut card stock in the die and then apply a piece of Press N Seal to the card stock. The pieces will stick to it in the pattern of the die. Easy peasy. Hope this makes sense....haven't had all my coffee yet this morning.
Jan D., FL, USA
A lovely card which looks equally as effective with mica powders - just back the die cit with double sided adhesive! BarbaraC

Hello Sue
I don't have any of these dies yet notice the yet they are on my ever growing list of Sues dies can't wait for tonight to see more examples.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts I don't know what bug it was but I still have a cough.Pam I hope todays meeting went well and they didn't try to wriggle out of taking responsibility.Happy birthday Alimecca.
I really love the look of this card, it is so fresh looking, anyone would be pleased to receive a card like this, just beautiful!
AWESOME!!! WOW! Leave it to you Sue to get the most versatility out of one of your dies. Here I was thinking the Stain Glass collection could not get any better other than to die cut the piece and back it with glitter or speciality paper. Which makes this technique easy and quick to do. But your design today shows how "more" can be "better" and the EXTRA steps of multiple cutting and piecing can give a wonderful intricate, complex and intriguing look. Well done!
Such a lovely card to brighten up a Monday morning. . Haven't been too well these past 2 weeks but on the mend now. Old age is most definitely NOT for cissies. Hoping to get back to card making this week. Hugs xx P Austen xx
Beautiful card today Sue. Thank you. Must seriously think about this die. Hope all goes well today Pam. Thinking of you and echoing all your comments.

Love the stained glass dies. I've done paper piercing before and found it rather fiddly. However, these bits look quite big so perhaps it's not so fiddly.

Hi Sue,
You made my day! Beautiful card! It certainly does deserve its own day on the blog! Haven't tried any paper piercing yet but, thanks to your instructions and Julia’s show, I feel confident to try this technique now. The whole Stained Glass Collection is amazing. You can create lovely cards using so many techniques.
I am planning to make a card using the Hummingbird die for our anniversary. We both love-love these beautiful little birds. I will frame it and hung on a wall after that. Hope the Hummingbird Stained Glass will have its own day on the blog as well. I am curious to find out what technique you used for that one.
Pam – How was your day? Thinking about you today.
Elaine - Glad Andrew and Helen enjoyed the wedding. Sorry to hear that they were ill after it. Hope tomorrow they will feel better than today. Hugs for you all.
Laine - Hope you are OK and you’ll be back soon.
