Sunday 4 October 2015

Friend

Good Sunday morning all!  I haven't used teal card in what seems like forever, so I picked it up for this one and love the way it came out!  I started by embossing the background with the Beaded Fanfare embossing folder.  We are sold out on this folder, but plan to bring it back in sometime soon as we have had many requests for it.  I cut two of the Pyxis Gemini dies in white using both cutting edges and backed both of them with teal card.  I raised them with mounting foam and added the to the sides of the card, trimming my embossed background so it did not extend past them.  I backed the entire piece with a piece of coconut white card.  For the focal element, I used the Lisbon die, cut in teal card.  I cut the centre of it out with the inner cutting die in the set.  I backed the frame with white card and added mounting foam to raise it.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet so I was able to cover it in Diamond Sprinkles before gluing the frame over the top of it.  I attached it to the centre of the card and then added flatback pearls to embellish the die cuts and corners.  The card was completed with a white pierced mat, a thin teal mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Ursula!!!
June Smith!!!
Liz Spooner!!!

For the extra qualifying post of Wed. Sept. 30th, the winners are:
culliesocks!!!
Txcowgirl!!!
Lorraine Freeman!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.  All for now, Sue x

Sunday smiles to you Sue and many congratulations to all comment winners enjoy your gift.
'P' in Wales you just have to release the folder it's absolutely devine, you just won't believe how pretty and tactile this dude is - use it soon you will fall in love all over again lol.
Do I sence a teal withdrawal Sue ? I'm so glad as this is such a pretty card with just the right amount of teal which makes the white coconut card look even whiter in my opinion. The Pyxis die (wondered what the predictive text would make of Pyxis then) but I've stumped it lol is the most beautiful of dies and so lovely to see it all dressed up for Sunday.
Am looking forward to "The stamps to die for" shows will try to watch, but have the box set to record as just had an order through that needs my attention, maybe I can sneak a coffee break in : )
Welcome home Sam. Thinking of those that need love and support at this time in their lives we just wish we could do a whole lot more to help and it's frustrating at times that we can only share supportive words with you.

I will end my comment as usual with hugs and kisses and hope you have a good day Sue.

Hi Sue
Had almost forgotten about teal. I know you really like teal and it has been a while since we've seen it on here. Absolutely delightful card. Such a striking bold colour but the card is still so delicate. With the dies I have in my collection imitation of is card will be relatively easy. Another on my list! It's a long list. I hope you have had a lovely day and wherever you are the weather is good.
The sun has been shining again today. Forecast not so good for the next week. The boys have been working in the garden today. My mother in law came for dinner - roast pork, crackling (very crispy), loads of roasties (crispy), broccoli, roasted carrots, green beans, cauli and Yorkshires (gluten free).
Loads of washing on the line today and my mother in law bought it in for me. The best thing about that is that she worked in a laundry for years and no one can fold clothes like her. Consequently not much ironing will be required - how cool is that.
Late comment again today although not as late as last night. Watched Downton (love it) with a friend who supplied the refreshment in the form of Marks and Spencer's Walnut Whips (yum). Friend went then I dozed off. Anyway I'm here now and that's what counts.
Well done to all the winners of the comment game x
CraftySuetoo - LA version of NCIS is sadly lacking in Mark Harmon so not so good x
Tracy - everyone will be nervous about seeing you and many will not know what to say to you. It is difficult for people to think of what to say and they worry that they are going to say the wrong thing. You strike me as the kind of person who has such a lovely personality that you will be able to put them at their ease. Friends, family and good people are so important at times like this. Lots of love x
Maria - I'm here lovely. Commented late last night x
Lorraine - I hope you're ok. Are you sorting the pesky pussy's?
Melody - hope you are bearing up and managing to rest. Please don't forget to look after yourself. Lots of love x
Need my bed now so will sign off til tomorrow.
Take care all

How excited I was to read today's blog, and see my name listed with the winners! What a wonderful surprise this is. I will be watching my mailbox with gleeful anticipation for an envelope from England. I can't thank Sue enough for all she does, we are all winners, and so much more the richer for her sharing her creativity with us.

Love today's card, teal is one of my very favorite colors. The Beaded Fanfare Embossing folder is just gorgeous, too. I don't think I've ever seen this one before.

Tracy you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you strength, peace and complete healing.

Yvonne, just have to ask about your dinner. " dinner - roast pork, crackling (very crispy), loads of roasties (crispy), broccoli, roasted carrots, green beans, cauli and Yorkshires". I know roast pork, carrots, broccoli, green beans, and cauli, but are roasties (crispy),just these vegtables roasted? We roast veggies with olive oil and garlic, salt and pepper, is this the same thing? Also, I've heard of Yorkshire Pudding, but is this dessert? Just curious, love to hear about how folks do things over there.

Txcowgirl - roasties are just roast potatoes, usually parboiled, shake 'm' up to make them fluffy on the outside, then into hot oil/fat for roasting and crisping. Yorkshire pudding is a batter mix (flour/milk/egg) poured into a roasting tin of hot oil or fat and - cooked in the oven until risen and crispy. It's best known as an accompaniment to roast beef but lots of us like it with anything, or just on it's own. It's a savoury dish not a dessert. Have to say at this point it's a bit hit and miss in this household as to whether it rises as our cook lol is a bit averse to weighing ingredients! Still, flat is okay too. Whatever, it isn't for slimmers!!!! Must go, feeling hungry!

Beautiful card with lots of pretty detail. I love the dies down the side as it gives
such a different look and the lisbon die is gorgeous. I have used it many times
and it looks fab in any colour and on mens cards too.

Hello Sue & WW!
I think teal is such a beautiful color. I'm so glad to hear the Beaded Fanfare EF is coming back! I do hope they'll make a large batch because it sounds like there are several of us who NEED it! Lol - but I'm not laughing - seriously, I need it! Art Deco is my favorite and that EF is too me, the epitome of Art Deco!
Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes! It's allowed me to carry on my celebration longer :) We had a great day in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. The weather was cool, which suited me perfectly - a birthday present in and of itself!
Happy belated anniversary wishes Fluffycat! 45 years is pretty amazing! Melody, sounds like your body has decided it's going to make you get some sleep! Xxx hugs!
CraftySuetoo...I like NCIS LA too - I know there's no Mark Harmon...but there is LL Cool J! I certainly don't mind looking at him :) the show has a whole different feel, but I like it. I actually also like NCIS New Orleans too. At first I wasn't sure I was going to, but it has grown on me. Mark Harmon is an executive producer or something on that (alas, not in front of the camera).
Yvonne G, the description of ur meal made my mouth water! It sounds quite delicious! Especially the crispy roasties (once I found out what they were-thx for asking Txcowgirl. Now I'm not the only one asking what things are :) Yvonne - you really did have a productive day! Then you got to craft a little too :) I know how time can get away from u tho - and then u r off ur schedule sleeping. I do that often, in fact I'm doing it now!
Laine, I'm glad Brodie came back in the other night. I absolutely hate that sickening feeling of worry. And they could care less that you were worried sick!
Ok - I better sign off
Hugs all around! Rebecca in Colorado
Ohh congrats to all the winners! What fun for you ;-)
