Christmas Double Day

Hello bloggers!  Usually Christmas double days are completely different sort of cards, but the two cards today are virtually the same, except for the colour and sentiment die.  I just thought you might like to compare them side by side.  First up is the Peace on Earth card.  I used blue tissue paper to create the background, tearing pieces of it and adding them to a piece of white card with Cosmic lacquer.  I overlapped some areas to get a deeper blue hue and scrunched up the tissue to create the textural look to it.  I left it to dry overnight, then rubbed the top with a bit of Golden Light gilding wax to highlight it and bring some gold into the background.  I cut two of the Winter Trees in white and also the Peace on Earth die.  I added some highlights to the trees with dries clear glue then sprinkled them with Iced Snow.  I glued them on to the card and raised the smaller tree with mounting foam.  I pierced a white mat, added a thin gold mat and finished with another white mat.  The finished dimensions are  8" x  8" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two was aimed more towards the look of solitary moonless evening so I selected black tissue paper for this one.  I do apologise that my pics of this one aren't quite as bright as I would have liked, but it is quite striking in real life!    Following the exact method above, I added the torn tissue paper and attached it using Cosmic Lacquer, making sure to scrunch the tissue up as I applied it.  Once completely dry, I rubbed Pearl Moon gilding wax across the top to grab all of the tissue texture and add highlights.  I cut two of the Winter Trees and the Noel die in white card.  I sprayed all three with permanent spray glue and coated them with Silver Chrome polished silk glitter.  I glued them into place and added a small piece of mounting foam to raise the smaller tree to bring it forward.  The card was completed with a white pierced mat, a thin silver and black mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning dear Sue. Firstly after reading Pam's comment above, I want to say this is just one of the many reasons we love and admire you. You are so caring and have a beautiful sensitive heart.

I love this tissue paper technique, and it's growing from the caught in crystal effect into something totally different, you mention blue tissue paper for the first beautiful sample, but what did you use to get the moon less Skype background ? Or have I not read your talk through properly I wonder ? Either way, both cards are gorgeous in their own way.

Melody - I left a message for you last night on yesterday's blog entry. Thinking of your all.

Pam - I'm wondering how Robbie is progressing at the moment ?

To those in East USA, do hope you can stay safe and that the hurricane bypasses you. And finally, Tracey - I really hope you heard what you wanted to hear, thinking of you.

Sending hugs and much-needed love to those going through such awful times.

Just means that the blog will now move to 4 pm until your daylight saving ends then 5 pm. It is quite funny that late in the day seeing you get up at 6 am.

I was so intrigued by this technique when you showed it on Hochanda that I didn't delete the recording so I could watch how you did it again. Unfortunately, between you, John and Julia my Sky box is getting fuller and fuller with retained reference recordings and soon there won't be space left for my Dr Who and NCIS when it restarts!!!

I am not sure which card I prefer as each are very striking. Initially I went for the second but in hindsight, I go for the blue one. I know dark colours aren't for everyone and these may not be stereotypically Christmas colours, but I like that you are playing outside of the box with this. A technique to be tried when I have purchased some of the CSI lacquer.

Keep these offbeat ideas coming. I love 'em

Morning sue and crafters.

Stunning. I love looking at this technique. It's very different an looks amazing. I love the first one the best.

As for my results yesterday unfortunately the results were confirmed that I have breast cancer. I had to get another biopsy done again under my arm as they had Insufficent cells in the first sample.
So it's gonny go either chemo first then surgery or the other way round depending on whether it's spread to lymph nodes.
Before chemo is done I have to travel to Glasgow to get some of my eggs harvested so I have s chance of a family later on as I didn't want the chance of that taken away from me altogether.
I've a bit of a journey ahead of me but I know I have plenty of support around.
Thanks for listening xx

Can't stop using the word stunning, but they are. Have to admit the Noel with the grey tones is my favourite as I'm going through a grey phase, but both are beautiful. Just love the double days.

Tracy, like lots of others have said - so sorry. Some of your blog friends have already been there and mostly we all have friends or family who have, too, and come out the other side - so be strong. Saving your eggs is the ultimate act of positivity for the future - so GO! We're with you.

Hi Sue

I love both backgrounds. I do love making backgrounds, like Julia on Hochanda the other day.

Tracy, I've been thinking about you and I'm so sorry your results weren't what you hoped but they got to you early and you got all of us in your corner too. I only messaged a lady 24 hours ago who has returned to work after successful treatment for breast cancer. She's a crafter too and kept an art journal to put her thoughts and feelings into, it really helped her. Just know I'm thinking of you and send hugs and a hand to hold xxx

Melody, I have been thinking of you, Francis and Molly too. The situation Molly finds herself in I was in at the age of 12 with my Grandad. Things were so different then in regards to treatment and the role children played in the family in these situations but that didn't change my feelings and yes it was black and white. I gave my Dad hell over it. Please tell her she's always in my thoughts and everyone here can't wait till she feels up to coming back. Sending all three of you hugs and a hand to hold.

My friends wedding was lovely yesterday, apologies for my absence again but things aren't good. Hoping to feel more like myself asap.

Hugs to all of you, special hugs to those of you having a hard time,

T x

Thinking of your so much. I know that no words spoken or typed will change the way you must be feeling after hearing what you have heard toady, you must all be in shock. There is a long road to travel down, but holding back tears or screams of anger are not signs of weakness so let go and follow the route many survivors have used at the beginning it will help make you a stronger person to deal with what's ahead. In my thoughts.

Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Ooooo I love both of these Sue x Nice touch of the gilding wax and absolutely of the shiny bling! I didn't see this technique but will see if it's on your UTube? I can say however, there is a shop called Home Bargains, I assume all over the country and they actually sell Metallic tissue paper. One is a deep blue......mmmmm I wonder how that would turn out......? Gorgeous cards Sue, "Thank you" xx Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your mom and family xx Sending love and hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are in need of some too xx Melody, Molly and nanna, thinking of you all xx Tracy, so sorry to hear your news....stay strong and keep fighting! Glad you are doing what you're doing with your eggs. I don't think there is anyone who, if not gone through it they know someone who has it xx Be strong shug, you'll be in my prayers xx Take care everyone xx Love Karen xx

Hiya Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes,

What a fascinating card and technique, it never ceases to amaze me the breadth of your technical knowledge and creativity- this is why I could never be good enough to be on a design team next to you, you put us all to shame my dear...but in a good way!
This technique seems a bit messy for my liking, I have overlays on my nails and envisage them sticking together never to be prized apart:-)
I have the necessary components so I should stop being so anal and throw caution to the wind...watch this space! I can't choose a favourite colour though, they both have their merits and have achieved a stunning result.
Well, Day two of life on my own chez casa Eastwood has passed without any great dramas- Brodie has been missing Mum, I could hear him pacing up and down more than usual last night the poor wee mite. No major barneys with Darcey to report so all is good, he even behaved during his walk earlier which is a first for me:-) I've had a busy day shopping and getting my hair cut and I'm going out with my Dad tomorrow so there's no real chance of loneliness but I would like a little peace to get a start on my Chrimbo cards it's funny how people rally round when they think your all alone, my social life has never been so busy:-)
Thankfully my uncle is slowly on the mend, he had a perforated artery from his heart and the blood was congregating in his chest and not reaching the extremities or his organs, he had to be opened up from his chest to his groin but his circulation has now improved and he's semi conscious so fingers crossedxxx
I'm so sorry to hear about your results Tracey, you are so young to be facing this complication but I am impressed with your fighting spirit and positive outlook- getting your eggs harvested is a wonderful idea, I wish that it had occurred to me when I was Ill but I fear that at 43 and counting I have missed that boat....besides , you really need a man to seal the deal so to speak and it's not like I'm beating them off with a stick I'm afraid:-) keep us posted on your progressxxxx
Melody, I'm really worried about you, you must try to get some rest we don't want to see your health deteriorating too. Poor Francis though, his stomach must have shrunk- I have had to use Fortisip on a number of occasions over the years when my weight has fallen to 3.5 stones and whilst I detested the taste it is an excellent way for the body to get the nutrients it needs. You can also get a white liquid that can be added to sauces , drinks and soups that is pure fat and gives a lot of calories for hardly any volume, the added bonus is it's tasteless- the name of it escapes me but it may begin with a C.i have my fingers crossed that he continues to progressxxxx
Molly, hope Sue has convinced you to comment on the blog again sweetheart, we miss youxxxx
Rebecca, I've never really watched NCIS but my mum absolutely loves it. Mark Harmony is very dishy, do you remember him in St Elsewhere in the 1980's or are you too young...I know I wish that I was:-) I love crime dramas, my favourite is Bones, and I'm looking forward to the new series beginning soon I hope- I love the dark sense of humour and the emotionless candour of Brennan. The US makes some fantastic dramas. With that said , I think that I might watch some more Game of Thrones tonight after my daily soap fix.
Have a lovely night everyonexxxx

Love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxx

Hello Sue, and all the ladies.
I love both these cards, they are strikingly stunning, but I would be too chicken to actually send them to anyone!!!!
I do, however, send my love and prayers to Melody and family, and Tracy. As others have said, and far more eloquently than me, we are wishing you well and sending our love and support.
Rebecca, Love NCIS with Mark Harmon and the rest of the gang, and have watched it for years.
Love to everyone.

Hi sue, 2 lovely cards I don't think I seen you demo these ones, anyway I think they are both lovely but if I had to pick it would be the black one it beautiful. Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

Stephanie I did reply to your messages Last night, thank you for thinking about us an yes the Fortisp build up drinks are what Francis as been using since before he even had the chemo an like I said he sometimes lets me mix one with ice cream so even more calories, I think he wouldn't be here now if it was not for them because he ate nothing for over 60 days before they could put a stent in to open his gullet to let him get food down. An Laine yes I know what your talking about because I use to have it after my chemotherapy when I was down to under 4 stone, only thing I would eat was mash potatoes an they use to put it in it an I never knew but I can think of the name of it either now. A lot of this is not that he ain't hungry it's he can't keep it down, he wants to eat he wants to be fit enough to have the operation if he gets the choice. Thanks again to you all for all the kind wishes sent to him an my beautiful Molly oh an by the way Milly the cat is doing great. It's after 12 so it's now my birthday so I might sit sn open my cards that are here lol maybe not because I always say it's not really your birthday till you been to bed an woke up. Thanks again all of you. Melody xXx
