It's A Double Day!

Hello there my crafty friends!  Welcome to the very last Christmas Double Day of 2014!  The first card uses the Illuminated Christmas Tree aperture for the focal element.  On a piece of coconut white card, I cut the Christmas tree out, then embossed the halo around the top of the tree.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension,   I covered a piece of decorative card with a sticky adhesive sheet, then coated it with Iced Snow.  I mounted the tree cut out over it so it showed through the aperture.  I matted it with a navy blue mat and added foam on the back on it.  On the backing piece, I embossed a piece of coconut white card with the Holly Swirls embossing folder.  I wrapped a piece of navy blue silky crush ribbon around and taped the ends to the back, then added a double bow to the centre.  I topped it with a white crystal sparkler and tucked my sentiment tag underneath.  I added a final set of mats with a wider white mat to which I added white Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots, then a thin blue mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two showcases the Noel die, or at least part of it!  I selected a piece of decorative paper from my stash.  I covered it with a sticky sheet and micro beaded the background for texture.  I wrapped a piece of white seam binding around opposite corners and added a messy bow in the lower corner.  I accented it with a white crystal sparkler and two matching stick pins.  For the focal element, I cut an Ornate Square in white as a backdrop and attached it in the centre of the card.  I cut the Noel die in Ruby red card, but trimmed away the outer area on a paper cutter, leaving just the Noel lettering itself.  I added mounting foam and attached it in the middle of my die cut backdrop for a simple look.  I finished the card with a pierced white mat, a thin red mat and a wider white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.

And finally, I have been asked to remind you to vote in the 2014 Craft Awards.  Voting closes on Sunday the 21st and once you vote, you are entered into a drawing to win some goodies.  Just have a look at the email they sent me below for details! All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue
Two fabulous cards to end your Christmas inspiration of 2014 and what inspiration you've given us. I've oohed and ahhhed over every single one. You have a hard act to follow in 2015 but I know you will (my bank manager hopes you don't lol). What was my favourite Christmas die this year! The tree? Or maybe the poinsettia? Or was it the angel? Oh I may as well say I loved them ALL lol. Thank you Sue for your inspiration it's very much appreciated.

I just cannot believe where this year has gone and it's the last Christmas 'twofer' for the year!!
I love both of your gifts this morning and really cannot choose between either. They both are beautiful and full of the Season. I only wish I'd seen your 'Noel' gift before finishing off my cards. I have used this die this year and have not thought to use one of my old square dies to showcase it. Certainly will for next year.

Steph - so pleased you've caught up and after Monday will be able to rest! Have a great day and hoping Santa has come early for you.
Sam Smithard - welcome home.
Sandra - have just popped into your blog - wonderful and beautiful. You're one talented lady.
Norah - hope you're OK and managing to loose some of that stress. You're always with me. Hugs

Have to sort 'Santa Sacks' this morning as they're being collected by my youngest Daughter tonight and taken to Santa in Rotherham ready for C.Eve.

To anyone feeling under the weather I'm hoping you feel better soon. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Putting our tree up today the 19th is a special day as when our son was born 12 weeks early he had to be resuscitated and we didn't know if he would live but we brought him home on the 19th so we have kept the day as our tree day. Hi Sue,

I used both of these dies for some of my cards this year along with the angel, the poinsettia, the pine bough, the bauble and the holly spray! I'll never be rich! I also used my Lyra die and covered with iced snow to get a snowy scene and it looked gorgeous especially under a tree made from the pine bough. You are such an inspiration.
Steph, happy birthday, hope you got lots of crafty goodies and good luck for Sunday. Sam, glad to hear you are feeling better and many congratulations on your win. Norah and Lynne hope you are both getting stronger by the day - we miss you both ( and Lindsay).

Good evening Sue!

A twofer for anyone who needs some last minute cards... lets see if I got my maths right and if not I will be using those for inspiration!

Happy Birthday Steph, hope you're having a wonderful day and that all goes well Sunday.

Sam Smithard, so glad you're back. Belated congratulations on your blog candy prize and I'm glad you feel better now.

Norah, hugs as always xxx

To Saba and all those of you who are travelling long distance this week. Wishing you all safe, easy journeys.

My resting Wednesday/ Thursday was needed and I was, happily, well enough to go in town with my PA this afternoon to buy the last couple of gifts. Town wasn't too busy, I got everything I needed and I'm not too tired so I can work on the last of the crochet- DC beanies for those who'll be outside a lot. I'm also desperately waiting to hear when my 'baby' brother gets home safe. He's travelling from Carlisle to Ipswich today via train... a mammoth journey on the last day of the school term! Don't envy him at all as the last time when he came back to his graduation there were diversions, delays and allsorts going on, he had to travel all the way to London then come back up again. Took him 14 hrs with all the problems! Hope he's come direct this time and will be wonderful to see him once he's recovered from his journey!

Well, Mr W and Billy have just left for their evening stroll so I'm going to make a coffee, don the appropriate adaptive equipment and crochet instead of going to sleep. If I sleep now I'll be awake at silly o clock! Need to get a good nights sleep to be able to finish those special cards tomorrow and wrap the first lot of gifts.

Hugs to Sue and all Wilsonettes everywhere, hope any last minute makes go smoothly!
