Thinking Of You

Hello all!  I almost forgot about this card that I showed as a demo on my last shows.  It is another card showing off the extreme distressing technique that I featured in the Simply Papercrafts magazine column that I do bimonthly.  There are two cards in the magazine this month which highlight this lovely technique.  I started this card by cutting the French Collection background in coconut white card.  I glued it to periwinkle card and trimmed the edges very close all the way around. This gave me the perimeters for my extreme distressing.  I tore the first piece very tightly around the frame, then did a second slightly larger hand torn piece.  I used the blade edge of the scissors to further distress the edges on both pieces.  Then I rolled the edges in several spots to complete the look.  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it out with the centre oval to the background die.  I inked it very lightly with Stormy Sky distress ink before removing it from the die.  I made several different sized flowers from both sets of the Delicate Daisies, using blue card for the base and giving them a white edge.  In each of the petals, I used Cosmic Lacquer and allowed them to dry overnight before assembling the flowers.  I tied a white messy bow and added it to the left side, topped with a flower.  I added two more smaller flowers in the opposite side for balance.  The card was then finished with a white pierced mat layer, a periwinkle mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

A lovely card, Sue, but still not too sure about the distressed edges on other than shabby chic. Bit OCD about uniformity!
Should have said yesterday - congrats on your 5200 followers, just wonder why more don't comment, it's very odd. However, lots of new names quickly becoming familiar friends and that's really good.

Hi Sue. A beautiful card, in my favourite colour, to start the week. I love it all. I'm not usually a big fan of distressing but your edges looks great, I wish mine would, when I try it looks like a two year old having a tantrum has got hold of it! Oh well, will just have to spend more time crafting so that I can keep on trying. What a shame, haha : )
Norah, you are in my thoughts, missing you.
Sending my daily hugs to everyone. Take care.

Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes. I too remember this demo the last time you were on our screens, you needed to 'tweek' it a little more so they showed the goodies available to tempt us so you could carry on tweeking (good job I didnt get my tweek mixed up with my twerk or we'd have our Sue Wilson twerking and not tweeking) imagin that Sue - having a twerk inbetween demo's : )
Like Mrs B, if I dare even to attempt this kind of distressing it would look like id got an old piece of scrap card that had been dog eared, so its not a technique I will try, it would be an insult to your tutorial! Its a stunning card to start our week.
Im supporting Sam and asking people that pop in to look at Sue's beautiful cards to spare a few seconds to comment, I know life is busy but if only you were to say "beautiful" it takes seconds (everyone has a few seconds to spare) !! Not only does it show support for all Sue's hard work, its good manners to say thank you foe something you enjoy and get pleasure from. The numbers rise to over 250 on launch week and the day after it falls, and its not fair to Sue. So please have some thought and consideration for Sue and all her hard work and say "hi" and join the fun and support we all love here.
On that note, to our friends receiving treatement or having surgery Im thinking of you and sending warm gentle hugs.
Stay warm and safe today.
Love you and sorry (maybe not) for my rant !

Beautiful card Sue. I made a slightly altered version of your last video post for a birthday card yesterday - I used the custard card instead of white and I substituted the faux quilled flowers as I don't own the other flowers yet - it looks lovely. I don't know how I would make cards without you as you are a continuing source of inspiration for me. Thank you and have a great week. x

morning Sue
I have to say I love your colours for today's gift. I also love your focal piece but it's the torn pieces that give me the shivers. I have tried a few times to step outside my little box and use the shabby chic system but always finish taking every apart and doing a nice smooth edge. Perhaps one day I might just manage it.

Sandra - I popped into your Blog yesterday. I love your Christmas Roses. It was so appropriate for me as 7th Dec is my middle Grandchild's birthday. She would have been 27 yesterday. We lost her when she was 4. We always put the Christmas Tree up on her birthday and we have carried on doing so. There were lots of phone calls to each other reporting in when the tree was up and finished

Norah - sending you hugs to you and yours. Hope to see you return soon.

It's dull, damp and cold here this morning and I have the biggest 'to do' list this week it's ridiculous. So had better get going and finish off my sets for tomorrow's Knit and Natter as it's my turn to demo and I've only done three out of eight!!

To all under the weather hoping you feel better soon. To everyone please wrap up warm if going outside. Take care and stay safe.
See you tomorrow.

Heartfelt hugs to Janet, losing your beloved granddaughter at so young an age, I ca't imagine the pain you went through.
Norah, please take strength from those of us out here who enjoy your blogs. I sincerely hope you will be up to it again in due course.
Well said Sam, and Steph on your little rant, you made me chuckle. I have also noticed that 'fairweather' friends only comment when there is something on offer. Sue puts herself out so much for us with her generous prizes that it would be lovely if the numbers of comments increase every day. As you said, a few seconds is all it takes.
Another horrendous traffic jam journey today, I was late for my appointment but luckily as I am first one in, and they know how long it takes for my various drivers to get there, they were so cheerful and welcoming when I did appear. Downside was I had to wait 1 3/4 hours before he could take me home, (as he had to go and get other patients), which didn't do my agrophobia and anxiety levels any favours. Upshot, I am still here.
For anybody in need, please help yourself to an extra big hug today form my basket.

Apologies for my absence, 3 weeks of constant neck spasm is not shortening the 'need to do' list. Wish local council hadn't chosen 5-6 weeks before Christmas to send out forms that need 'evidence' sent in with them on top of everything I hadn't done anyway! Will try to be back tomorrow but will depend how tired I am after today's paperwork. Can I postpone Christmas for a month, please?!

Hi Sue. This is a lovely card today !! I love the Periwinkle colour card you have used. The French background die looks great. I am not to sure if the distressed edges are really for me. They look lovely but I think I have a sort of thing about nice straight even edges !! Your Daisy dies are gorgeous Sue. I have the open ones but the complete petal dies are on my Christmas wish list. I really need / want both sets together. I love the idea of putting the crystal lacquer on them to make them look like porcelain. They are really beautiful. Thank you for sharing this beautiful card.
Sending you lots of love from Tres x x x

Good evening Sue & friends,
Todays card to me resembles a frosty spiders web that you would see early morning! It's gorgeous and I love everything about it.
Janet, thank you for stopping by my blog, glad you like the flowers, your tree tradition and the story that went with it totally touched my heart, bless you lovely lady xxx
Cheryl, glad your treatment went ok, although the transport sounded a nightmare, I bet that stressed you more than any treatment, big hugs coming your way!
Wheely, I am sorry you have been suffering so much for so long, I hope it gets sorted very soon, lovely to hear from you.
Norah, I can't stretch far enough, despite trying, but if I could my arms would give you the most comforting hug! Xxx
Steph, I am totally with you and I gave said it before, no doubt numbers will start peaking near to blog candy draw too! I hate the fact that people take advantage of someone as genuinely kind and caring as Sue!
Well I am off to try and get some sleep, got a fab day tomorrow as Sue (Mrs B) is coming to play! Yay xx
Crafty hugs to each and every one of you,
Sandra xxxx

Hi Sue & all the other Wilsonettes, I've not been too good this week so I am late with all my comments but I hope you can forgive me Sue. Love the shabby chic look to today's card I do love that technique and have done it for years with card and inked edges but never done it until recently with light colours without the ink to get that SC look, but I have now, with lilac and cream and it looks stunning if I must say so myself, so thanks for turning me onto this way too Sue, hugs, Vick xxx
