Friends Forever

Good Sunday morning all!  I have a clean and simple style card for today's offering.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner of a piece of coconut white card using a Black Archival ink pad.  Next I cut a piece of black card the same size and put a piece of double sided tape on the back of the white card to keep the black and white cards aligned (white on top, black behind).  Using the Complete Delicate Daisies dies in several of the larger sizes, I arranged them in a slope across the front of the white card with the edges of the petals near the next flower.  I cut the dies by running them through the Grand Calibur, a few passes it takes due to the double thickness of the card.  Next I took the dies out and used my scissors to nip away the areas of the white card between the flowers, exposing the black card behind.  I added more adhesive to the back of the white card and aligned the two pieces, leaving just the flower cut away open.  Using Mauve and black card, I cut the same flowers using both the Delicate Daisies complete petal and the open petal die styles.  I assembled the four flowers and inlaid them back into the areas where I cut the original flowers.  I added 5mm white flatback pearls to the centres of each flower.  I completed the card with a white paper pierced mat, then added a thin mauve and thin black mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  9" in size.

Now for the winners of the weekly Comment Game.  This will be the last set of winners for 2014.   I will resume the weekly Comment Game after the new year!

This week's winners are:

Gwen 70!!!
Debs Artliff!!!

Hi Sue. What a different look for today. Really clever and clean looking. Another out of the box way to use the flower die.
As for Christmas chores, food shopping done but you always think you haven't bought enough for the kids! Will have to wrap and see. You forget what you've bought until you get the pressies out of hiding.
Merry Christmas to you all. Only four more sleeps.

Think I've seen you demo something similar to this and love what appears to be the simplicity of it. Colours work really well as well. Black, white and a colour thrown in you can't go wrong. Have the dies that have been used for this and will be giving it a go as if you change the sentiment can be used for other occasions as well. Lovely!

Hi Sue and everyone

Lovely simple card today, very neat looking.

Off to do food shopping now. As I live in a beach holiday area I decided evening was the safest time to avoid crowds, lets see !

Garden done, presents wrapped, just the general cleaning to do before the family arrives. I have been so proud of my cards this year thanks to you Sue.
It is so hot here in mid north coast NSW and very dry too though rain has been forecast over the Xmas period so we may get some relief though the kids wont be happy if they cant get to the beach,

I wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas, enjoy your break Sue,
looking forward to a new year of beautiful inspirations

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, a really nice card today, it is one of those that you can have prepared and just add a suitable sentiment when required, I think we are all mindful of postage costs today and this is one that if scaled down a little will easily fall into the basic postage category, love it. also an ideal way of using up some of the scraps.

Congratulations to the winners, you with enjoy your prize.

So am I ready for Christmas, well this year we have been invited to our youngest son's for Christmas lunch which we are so looking forward to, this is the first time that we have not had to cook the turkey etc. Then on boxing day will be going away for a weeks holiday on the Isle of Wight, looking forward to the break, will be taking some jewellery to do, can't really take my craft kit with me can I.

What are you doing Sue?

Have a great Sunday everyone, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Steph Cotterill said...

Morning dearest Sue and all Wilsonettes, Sunday smiles to you all..
I adore the clean and simple look to cards especially when they have to be posted. I remember trying something similar some time earlier in the year whrn you used white and teal with the classic rose die... Similar - NOT, as usual I got in a right fuddle if I remember rightly LOL im not lucky enough to own the rose die and cant remember what I tried but lets say "it didnt work too well" !! But I do have both petal dies, so when the new year is in I will play (after i've had a play with my new Sue dies and new EF I got with my MIL's birthday money yesterday) can you believe my craft shop owner wont be open now until Jan 15 !!!!! So I had to stock up with my CE glue + + + : )

You ask if we are ready Sue ? What does ready mean ???!!! In a word - NO.
As there are only the 2 of us we are not going mad on the day (I quite fancy a p.j day) we have our daughter and husband - that still sounds weird, and her inlaw's coming Boxing Day, so its finger food (HA LOL... Finger food) my dear little odd Christmas finger numb and flapping in the wind LOL. Still have Mr Lancs gift to buy and card to make... But before that its market day, and if im not ready for that, I never will be ! I was still working on things when our daughter and her man suprised me last night at 7pm with a bag full of food to cook me a suprise birthday meal and boy can that guy cook (lucky Lou) wow what a meal... So with all your birthday messages, email's from my wonderful blog friends, your cards and gifts it was the nicest birthday Ive had for some time. Thank you.
On that note I must get my sore body moving and send those that are unwell lots of loving hugs.
Have a good Sunday.
Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx
congrats to all winners today enjoy your lovely gift

Well, Sue, have to say that I love your more ornate cards but always there is something new to learn, and do appreciate the tips on double cutting of card.
Like Sam, not a lot to do as no family nearer than 250 miles and when you have a lot of animals to care for then it's really just another day - however, a few calorie laden treats in store! I shall be sorry later.
Sent all my Sue-inspired cards early (majority) but afraid the others didn't go until yesterday despite the good intentions, so am putting my trust in Royal Mail.
Ha Ha.

Well done to the winners!

Lovely card today. Congrats to all the winners.

All gifts wrapped, christmas craft stash put away. Food shopping today as soon as the supermarket opens. Just need to figure out the best time to get the fresh items & collect order from the butchers. I'm working 3 full days & will probably be late each day as the hospital has already had 2 days last week with no beds and there's usually a pre christmas panic. Only 3 of us on Xmas day & hubby always cooks. 4 on Saturday 27th then more arriving in the evening do will probably have to brave the shops again.

What are your plans??

GM Sue - Great card - another must try for 2015 - such a generic design suitable for all ocassions.

X-mas prep under control - just the fresh stuff to do Monday/Tuesday - got a filthy cold at the mo - it started Thursday and it hasn't let up since - no appetite, no taste buds either, sore ears, and a nose that gets more rudolph like every passing day despite using balm tissues- hope it will lay off a bit before the big day as I am hosting x-mas lunch although I dont really feel up to cooking at the mo, let alone eating it.

Off to have an olbas oil bath to see if that will help clear the somewhat blocked passages -

Hi Sue. A beautiful CAS card, it's great to see different styles sometimes. Like lots of the other disorganised Wilsonettes my brain is buzzing with what we have left to do for Christmas Day and it just can't work out how you have cut the flowers! I will have another read later on to work it out : )
My mantra at the moment is "Never again. Next year I am going to get organised much earlier" I think that tells you how I am getting on! I know it will all suddenly come together on Christmas Eve, but I am stressing at the moment! (No matter how busy I am I still always have a little "me" time everyday reading your blog though:) )
I would love to know if you organised or not Sue? I would also love to know how many Christmas cards you make and send, or as you have already made so many for work do you buy them instead?
Congratulations to the final Comment Game winners of 2014 : )
Sending my daily hugs to everyone. Take care.

Simple today's gift maybe but it still makes a statement. This gift is a definite stand by and one of those you can make when you realise that one is needed 'NOW' and so it's gone into my 'must do' box. I'm going to have to expand that box as it's getting rather full because of all your wonderful; beautiful and gorgeous gifts this year.

As I said yesterday I'm off today to see my eldest Daughter and her animal family (including of course my lovely Son in Law who always seems to come at the end of the line lol). So it's out to Bakewell for lunch and then on to Hognaston to say Merry Christmas to her two Woolley Boys (Stumpy and Scamo sheep); Mystral her new tenant (Bunny); Cuinn and Molly (two gorgeous Collies); Ratty (outside Cat); Pip (inside Cat) and any others who may be in for caring over the Season.
Christmas Day it's just the two of us as I firmly believe that when there are small children in the house it's terrible when they've opened their presents and then you drag them away to spend the day away from their treasures. Now my Grandchildren have their own babies and my youngest Daughter is a Nan so she visits them and as you know my eldest has all her animals to care for so they stay at home hence my day out today. Then on Boxing Day it's off to Dover to sail for France until 12th February in my lovely little house in Burgundy.

To all under the weather for whatever reason I hope you feel better soon. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Janet x

Still got all the presents to wrap, local cards to deliver and a couple of family visits to make. Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
I really like this simple, not over-the-top card design and (after being shown a similar design by you), have used it quite a lot for thank you cards. The added bonus is it's flat so no extra postage.
Muriel - you can have some of our rain!
Izzy - I only used lots of 3d foam when I can hand the cards to people. I tend to send "flat" ones in the post (unless it's family).
Michele - got 6 coming all day Christmas Day, 6 Boxing Day for lunch and over 20 for blow-out in the evening. 27th George's birthday (he's an identical twin) so we start all over again. 28th collapse!!
All the ladies who are poorly with colds etc. G.W.S. and those who are rushing at last minute things (me included) B R E A T H E - and think of the poor souls who are alone or who have just had bereavements.
As Tiny Tim said "God Bless everyone". xx

I love this style if card and used it once because I got into a bit of a "two and eight" (state) matching all the card up Your way seems easier Will definitely give that technique a go Most of my Christmas is ready for the big day Perishable items to get Christmas Eve (argh!) Hubby clearing kitchen (as we speak!) of "stuff" I won't need over Christmas Still to wrap and have that feeling that I've missed someone or something! Salsa this pm to catch up with old friends

Another simple but stunning card. I hope you're ready Sue for your Christmas celebrations.
I have finally got there, with loads of rests in-between, all my tree presents wrapped and tucked away safely, food bought and all with massive thanks to my daughter Fiona. She has been a godsend to me this last week ferrying me around present buying. We manged Aldi, Sainsbury's and Asda in 2 and half hours. Due to my agoraphobia, I don't stay out too long so if the shop hasn't got it then I don't get it either..
Comfort blanket hugs to all my lovely Wilsonettes who need one.

Hi Sue, gorgeous card clean lines and lovely flowers.
All ready for Xmas but Emma is still searching for a place to live in Bristol. Its Me,Tony and Emma for Christmas that's all we need.
Started a new craft design just before Xmas so am looking forward to how it progresses in the new year. They have sold really well so hopefully it will continue, and I will be able to buy more Sue dies.
It was freezing this morning, Tony went to get some items from the supermarket and they were queuing around the block to get in so he went somewhere else.
Hope everyone is ok, as it can be stressful.
Some of my daughters colleagues are facing unemployment, so awful.
Keep warm hugs to all Theresa xxxx

Hi Sue, I love this style of card and for those that are not sure, it is easier to do than it reads. I'm just not happy with that much black lol.

Finally got the tree and decorations up yesterday then today I had a big clean-up. Hubby out so I have just managed to finish sewing up the secretly knitted cardigan I have made for him. All his pressies still to wrap and the neighbours cards to be delivered but apart from that I'm pretty well there. Fresh food shopping on Tuesday (no way will I go on Christmas Eve) then the mince pies and sausage rolls to make. Phew! There were times last week when I thought I was never going to be ready but it all seems to have fallen into place now.

Had a lovely time yesterday afternoon at a 6 year old's birthday party. Everything was 'frozen'. I think I will be happy never to hear Let it Go again!

Congratulations to the blog post winners, a lovely extra present for you.

Hi Sue Back after a few silent days in the rush up to Christmas. Have now finished work until 29th so now still rushing to get all the things done that should already be finished!!!
Love today's card, this technique is so clever. One of my pre-Christmas tasks is to get my craft room back under control, though we all know it'll only be temporary tidiness.
Congrats to this week's winners and good luck to all with final preparations. Gx

Hi Sue
Another stunner today. Will have to study how you've done the flowers though Sue. Will have to have a good read later.mim pretty well done for Christmas. It's only really presents that I have to worry about. We always go to my partners Daughter, as she lives at the top of our road, no sweat at all. Both his children have birthdays just after christmas and they all come to us, so my busy days are Dec 28th and Jan 1st. Hope you have a fantastic christmas Sue.

Hi Sue,
Love the simplicity of this card it's beautiful. Don't know if my GC could cope with two layers though but I will be trying to replicate the look at some time in the future.

Christmas is coming along nicely, just two more presents to buy, all presents still to wrap though, local cards to hand deliver in the village and 8 special cards still to assemble. I managed to cut out all the die cuts and matting and layering whilst still in Germany but ran out of time, so brought them "home" to assemble. Will probably do them this evening whilst enjoying a glass of wine, so they will probably end up looking wonky!,
Going to our Daughters for the big day so I don't have to do a supermarket shop thank goodness.

How are you doing with your Christmas preparations? it must be difficult for you because everyone will expect to receive one of your wonderful creations, as if you haven't enough to do with making them for your demos, workshops and of course this fabulous blog.

Take care everyone in this mad run up to Christmas.
Saba

Hi Sue
Now that is a card I could use, wish I had that sentiment. A good friend of mine is moving to the south coast next month and I could just use this card for her!
As for Christmas, well that's anyone guess. I have had the Grandchildren staying with us this week- end a 6 and 3 yr old. Gave them the job of dressing the tree, might just have to move a few bit now they have gone home.
Hubby's gifts wrapped for the first time ever this early, all the rest still to wrap. But on a positive note they are all bought!
Christmas good wishes to you all

Beautiful clean and simple card.
Still have to do the food shop on Tuesday but have all the presents bought. Hubbys main present is on its way from the US and is in the UK so am hoping it will arrive before xmas. Its nothing we would find exciting just buildings for his wargaming hobby. The dog has a new bandana and a camouflage jumper and I have lots of Sues new dies, embossing folders and a Cut N Boss machine so cant wait to try them out.
Would love to know if you make cards for your family Sue or do you not have the time?

I normally love Christmas....but am a bit unsure how this Christmas will be as it is the first one since my dear Dad passed away! It just won't be the same without him!! I don't know what to expect from this year, I suppose I'll just have to go with the flow and take it as it comes. I know he will be with us in spirit!!!
I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!!!

Good evening Sue.
first can I congratulate the winners. What a way to end the year.
I'm liking the card but not overly keen on the colours. You can't please everyone all of the time.
As far as Christmas is concerned I'm as ready as I will be. Apart from a bit of fresh veg I'm done. This may sound a bit bar humbug but to me, it's just one day. I know it's a special day but I really don't see the point in shopping like there's no tomorrow . Each to there own.
Hope u had a fab weekend

Hi Sue,

My turn for a twofer! I missed yesterday as I was being taken out by Mr W to finish the Christmas shopping. Amazing card, so glad I got that background as there's so much it can do. Those photos are lovely. That beautiful blue sky is amazing and you look so happy and healthy. It must be such a wrench to leave there to come back to see us! Todays card, soon as I saw it I thought "quilled leaves"! That card was THE reason I brought the quilled leaves! Todays would be perfect for either of my sisters, 16 and 21 on their next birthdays. Need those daisys!

Getting ready for Christmas has been a matter of ordering almost everything online. Luckily I don't have many cards to make. Due to this year not being the easiest I've had I had to use kits mixed with my dies. I did stamp 3 of them and will use stamps for the gift cards I must make to go with vouchers for my nephews. Just that and a card each for 2 special friends and the cards are done. Posting some 1st class tomorrow that are local and it's just gifts to wrap then and photos to put in frames and wrap them... which reminds me, I have one to do for tomorrow! Spacing visits/ visitors out over the two weeks of Christmas/ new year so I don't get too worn out. Back and neck have not made it at all easy and we are fitting in bed days while Mr W is off to try and settle them down again. Going to wrap as many presents as I can tomorrow after mounting those pics in their frames. Will have to get Mr W helping... and use all my feminine charm to not make it seem I'm telling him HOW to do something!
Hugs for Norah. I miss you, hope you're alright. Xxx
If not tomorrow, then very soon my friends xxx Hugs to all Wilsonettes everywhere, especially if they are needed.
