Thinking Of You

Morning all!  Here is another one of the cards using some of my dies in classic black and white.  Today's card features the Calabria set from the Italian Collection, the border from the Spanish Collection and the Classic Rose die set.  I stamped my sentiment from the Bold Sentiment set by Creative Expressions in black archival ink in the upper corner of my coconut white card.  I used another piece of coconut white and embossed it with the Extra Confetti folder by Couture Creations and cut one side on the diagonal, adding it to the bottom of my background.  I cut a border from the Spanish Collection, backed it with white and then matted it with a thin black mat.  I taped it on the diagonal between the two background sections and trimmed the edges.  Next I cut the Calabria die from the Italian Collection in black and then cut it down the centre.  I glued the halves above and below my border but offset them.  Using the Classic Rose die set, I cut several of them in both black and white in a variety of sizes with the decorative insert piece.  I cut a slit to the centre in each of them and folded one section behind so it turned them into five petals instead of six.  I curled the petal edges and added flatback pearls to the centres of each of them, giving you yet another style of flower from this very versatile set. I assorted them across my card diagonally, slightly overlapping some of them.  I added some black rhinestone swirls as embellishments.  I finished the card with a bit of black and white matting and a double white pierced mat.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8 1/4" in size.

I just need to mention that if you use the blog to send any emails to me, I am not receiving them.  They actually come from "noreply@blogger" and for some reason I am not getting them.  If you want to email me please use americansue1@gmail.com that way I am sure to receive it and can reply back to you.  Thanks!  All for now, Sue x

GM Sue - great card - love those cute flowers. I had a crafty nightmare day yday - we have our local spring show on saturday and I was making a Mday card for the card class - it was one of those days - couldn't stamp for toffee, couldnt' get things straight, dropped pearls, missed the pot when putting the embossing powder back - you name it I was bodging it and you want it to be soo perfect when it's going on the showbench - just as I was about to throw it all in the bin I changed the plan a bit to hide the bodges and somehow, after a proayer to the crafty gods, it all came together and I am quite pleased with it - just the inside to do today and an envelope. I dont expect it will get placed as the judge always seems to go for cards that has needlecraft on them for some reason - for the life of me I dont understand why a 2" square piece of cross stitch on a card is so appealing - perhaps the judge is not a percrafter - that's all I can think! I'll let you know how I do on Sunday's blog entry.

So very classy. Black and white is always a winner but too much black can make it look 'heavy'. These narrow, thin dies avoid this completely so your lovely card has lots of interesting textures yet somehow doesn't look too busy. I don't know how you do that Sue but you always do.
Ouch Janet! Your fall sounds nasty - hope it's not too bad.

Janet you poor love, hope all goes ok. Cameeli, Cameeli, Cameeli, you dont have to keep milking the damage to your knee - if you want to craft then craft chick, that's what I say (but I'll remember that one and use it when necessary if you dont mind : )
I love todays card. It seems a different kind of W.O.W than our usual W.O.W's and cant put my finger on it. Id never think of placing embossed card in a corner like that (thats why you're you Sue and Im me) ! You give us so many alternative ideas and ways to make our cards and for that I thank you.
Not quite recovered from Tuesday, and my daughter has a week off so as she can only 'be available' today Im being dragged round The Trafford in Manchester to WINDOW shop for my outfit for her wedding, I say window as I dread trying on in changing rooms with full on aircon, my body and hands cant deal with it, plus with my silly tummy probs I could either lose a dress size or gain again before the wedding, such is life ay : )
Im SO glad I popped in before my marathon in Manchester today as you have lifted my spirits again Sue, thank you.
Pam, still in my thoughts love.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Ok who doesn't want to play tumble with today's card? I love it Sue, it reminds me of those cards that was getting made a couple of years ago where they had the penny in them and you could roll them from side to side. I am waiting for the other half of the filigree circle to roll down to join the bottom half. Sorry i can feel a silly day coming on after sleeping nearly all of yesterday. Not much more awake today but i need to get an injection off energy from somewhere. Sorry Sue, went off track with today's beauty and it is lovely the black against the milk card.
Wonder when the next Yawning for Scotland competition takes place as i think i could win it hands down today.
Pat S, i think you must have my hubby's brother in time keeping as he doesn't know the meaning of time either. Just as well the Doctor was running late, but i bet you got a few looks at just getting called as you walked in.
Oh we are going to be so lucky this year as we get an updated photo of all our beautiful mothers of the bride and mother of the groom. I hope that Tina, Steph and Cameeli know that ALL mothers of the bride or groom look beautiful on their childs wedding day. It has something to do with the glow of love and pride that goes along with the smile from ear to ear. Cameeli:- turn a bucket upside down at your work under your desk and rest that knee. Please don't start trying to get back into your torture sorry exercise routine to soon as you will only do more damage to it. Crafting this weekend will do your creative juices the world of good.
Elaine (Wee Fortune)- i know exactly what you mean about leaving mum in the hospital for her operation as i have one that gets rushed in on a regular basis with the whee whawws and i just can't leave her. I think you get to a certain age where you get as protective over your parents just like your children because they seem to go from the fit, able tower of strength to suddenly being so vunerable. I hope she is well again soon, Elaine.
Nanna Tina, sending hugs to your daughter as well, but i am so glad that the lump is non as that would have been a terrible ordeal waiting for those results for her. Let her know that there is a lot of people giving her cyber hugs today and wishing both her and Elaine's mum well.
Janet (Ecco) what are we going to do with you Janet? You making friends with the steps is not a good idea me thinks because they are bullies and don't know how to be gentle on meeting you. I know from personal experience that the floor, pavements and roads are equally as big on the bully front as my face, hands, knees, hips and back will testify to on many an occasion as i make frequent friendly approaches but they just know how to hurt each time. There is permanent reminders of previous encounters on the face and knees and back, so please add more water in it the next time. Hee hee hee. Hope everything is ok though.
Well it's a dreich day out there this morning with that horribly drizzly weather, but need to go out. I hope to see you all tomorrow, take care everyone,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Good afternoon Sue and all from a very wet and windy Paisley. Sue this is a lovely classically elegant card. I love Black and White I have the border die and may try and adapt it with other circle dies.

Thank you again for all your inspiration and kindness.
