You Are On My Mind

Hi crafters!  This card shows a different way to use your stamps to create unique background looks.  I started with the Lavish Corner background by Justrite Stamps.  Using the Picket Fence Distress stain, I dabbed it all over the background stamp.  This gives you a less defined look to your stamps than say a dye ink or even a heat embossed image, but none the less useful.   I stamped it on black card for a sort of faux chalkboard look to it. On any other colour card, it would look very much like a water coloured background.  Next I cut it into three strip and mounted it with foam on a piece of white card (I did leave a small edge of the black card around the image so it looks as if it was matted with black before cutting into threes).  Next I stamped my sentiment from the What Defines Us set and used the pretty flourish under it.  I cut it out with the Vintage Labels Six die set.  I cut a frame for it using two sizes in the Vintage Labels Five in Ruby Red card.  I cut an inside frame for it using the next size down in the set and cutting it from black card.  I mounted it with foam pieces over the sentiment.  I accented the card with some melted flowers made from white silky crush ribbon leftover pieces, topped with a black pearl in the centres.  I added a small bow tied from black jute twine and scattered the flowers across the card in a diagonal.  The card was finished with a red mat, then a double white pierced mat and some flatback pearls.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

I know that I'm going to be in the minority today but today's gift is a little too dark for me in the colour scheme.
I can see the elegance in the format and I cannot see anyone being disappointed in receiving today's gift but I would love to see it done in different colours.
Had a good day yesterday in catching up on my bday card list - I used your famous 'rocket ship' Sue for a little boy who is going to be seven - had great fun doing it too.

Touch of the ooh la la about this Sue, love the colourway. Panels always look great, but I have to beware the jaunty angles when the tape grabs too quickly!! Like Helen, stamping not my forte - should practise more. Always admire your expertise.
Hope you have a better day, Steph.

Hi Sue. A lovely card today !! I really like the new lavish corners background stamp and I am considering putting it on my new wish list !! There are however some other craft items that are higher up the list though !! I love the sort of chalk board effect you have done with it. I made a card with another justrite background stamp cut into three panels and I was very pleased with the results. It is a great technique to do, if, like me you prefer to make 8 inch square cards. You can matt and layer the panels to fit the card perfectly. I love the colours you have used Sue. I am still not sure about the the new JR shaped dies though. I prefer some of the SB label ones. Your little silky crush ribbon flowers look so pretty and cute and I like your little jute bow to !!
Lancashire Steph I hope you feel better soon.
Cameeli I do hope your son is ok. Sending you all my love and best wishes.
To Sue and everyone I hope you all have a good day today. Lots of love Tres x x x

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Well with a bit of a chance we might have a better day today up in Costa del Glenochil. The sun is trying to make an appearance but is getting met with stiff competition from the clouds and mist.
Anyway now the weather forecast has been done for central Scotland, i can get down todays offering from our friends' wonderous hands. It's different Sue and shows just how creative you are. Think it will take me a few looks to see all that is going on with todays' card. I do think that i would make it with a normal ink pad as i just can't get into the distressed gizmos at all.
Beverley i will swap you carrots for mince pies. I think my lot it was the village that i was getting carrots for before they are rationed. Three and a half bags (big ones that hold about 20 each) still left going to a free home. There is only so much lentil soul you can make and even pureeing them for all the babies that seem to have pop up or out this year couldn't handle this lot.
Steph i hope you are feeling a bit better this morning flower as Crohns doesn't have knock the stuffing out of you when it decides it's going to play up. I hope it is just a wee blip so that you can have a great Hogmannay and New Year.
Hope it is good where ever you might be today fellow Wilsonettes,
see you tomorrow hopefully.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

A lovely card today Sue, would be good as a Valentine card I think - yes we must start thinking away from Christmas now musn't we? Although I have just planned a couple of cards while I was putting away the Christmas card stuff from this year. I'll get them cut out later today and packed away with the card stuff ready for next year. I'll probably have forgotten the idea by the time I start Christmas card making for 2014, so best to do it while I remember eh?

I love the way you make the flowers from left over crush ribbon I'll have to give it a try.

Craftihappiness to you all, love from Pearl

From me to YOU Cameeli this card says it all. To all Wilsonettes here today - thank you. Do you ALL realise what special friends you have become since I unlocked the door to Mrs W.W's blog (Wonderful Wilson). Nowhere at all have I found such lovely ladies to drive insane, and that is all down to you Sue, its your fault I send everyone running and screaming ! Have to lay the blame somewhere : ) how can you 'love' without knowing or meeting anyone, but I do, you are all so lovely and caring - who ever vomits cleans up themselves !!
I almost got back into my craft space today (still might yet) was looking through your tutorials Sue, and was soooo close to 'accquiring' Mr Lancashire's shaving foam to have a go making a background, but then realised Id not got a big enough plastic storage box to play in, so my mucky play can wait for a day or so ! I really should be re-making a few cards I sold at the last fair I did, clean out of neutral baby cards, but Im thinking of spending my vouchers on the new set Kim used on her 1st show with Sue so that's a 'not today' reason.
Im really looking forward to trying (being the operative word) all these fifferent idea's Sue has given us, that is if I can stop my addiction to adhesive paper - oh my word, if I could self adhere Mr Lancashires bowling ball head and diamond sparkle it I would as its such a pretty thing to do, I love it : ) I dont think he'd appreciate it though ! I have so many exciting things to try that you have shown us lucky Wilsonettes, and when I've treated myself with the craft vouchers etc there will be NO stopping me ! Dread to think of the fuddles I'll get into - head to toe in extra strong tape, foam where it shouldnt be, oh my word : 0
Well Sue, you have given your faithfull Wilsonettes another beautiful card today, and I cant wait to see what you have for us tomorrow.
Sending Saturday smiles to you all.
Love n hugs.
Lancashire Steph xx

A real stunner today and the red really pops. I love this stamp and it's gone to the top of my birthday list. my list didn't get much shorter over Christmas I'm afraid. I've cooked for 12 today and the last of my visitors have just gone. Dinner was supposed to be at 12.30 but haven't been feeling to good with a cold, so put it back to 5.00pm so I could take my time. Cameeli hope you son gets better soon. Off to finish the drying up now as my partner has just started to finish the mound of washing up we had.
