Turn Your Face To The Sun

Good Sunday morning!  How about this one for a sunny way to start the day!  I just love this sunflower set, I remember the first time I ever saw a sunflower growing in a field and I couldn't believe how big it was, I was in absolute awe over it!  I had a bit of a play with the background on this one.  I'm sure you can spot it but I used the shaving foam technique to achieve this one.  I used Wild Honey, and Bundled Sage reinkers on the shaving foam.  I swirled it with the back end of a paintbrush until I was happy with the pattern, then dipped my white card stock into it.  I used a ruler to wipe away the excess foam to reveal the pretty pattern left by my swirls in the foam.  I dried it good, then stamped the Moroccan Lattice background stamp over it using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with white detail powder.  I wrapped a piece of moss green vintage ribbon around the side of the card and taped the ends to the back.  Next, I stamped my sentiment on white card and cut it out with the Vintage Bracket and Labels dies by Becca Feeken, making sure that the sentiment was to the right of the label shape.  I inked it with Wild Honey Distress ink while it was still in the die.  I stamped my sunflower, coloured it with Distress markers and cut it out by hand.  I mounted it on foam and attached it to the left of my sentiment. I cut a tag from the same set and used it to peek over the top and bottom of my label shape before attaching the piece to the centre of my card.  I tied a messy bow out of the vintage ribbon, added a Bakers Twine bow and finished with a light brown Dazzler in the centre.  I finished the card with a double white mat with my signature paper pierced inner layer. Don't forget, if you like it, you can pin it to your Pinterest boards.  The button is at the bottom of the post.   Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8" in size.

Now for the Sunday Comment Game winners.  This week's winners are:

Tracy Stitt!!!
Janette MacArthur!!!
Ros Hodgkins!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue
What a delight today's card is especially on such a stormy day it cheered me up immediately. The shaving foam technique is so nice to do because it is different every time you do it. You are definitely the colouring queen, I'm going to try harder in the New Year to colour my stamped images. When I colour it looks as if a child did it lol. I love the sentiment you've used it us so apt with the sunflower.
So pleased that Tracy's Dad and Cameeli's son are ok sending a hug to you both. Steph I for one love your 'rambling' I look forward to it every day.
Hugs x

Sunny Sunday Smiles to Mrs W and all my family of Wilsonettes. Firstly may I say sorry to Mrs Duck - sorry if I drove you 'quackers' yesterday, it was ME that used the V word : ( wont happen again, promise.
Laceylady many wonderful congrats on your Golden Anniversary, what a wonderful acheivement for you and your husband xx Cameeli, what a relief for you, and to Tracy, so pleased dad is doing good again - seems like a group high 5 is needed or maybe a mexican wave ?!
Maybe a Mexican wave would be appropriate considering the sunny card Sue has given us, and how strange that only yesterday I was thinking of trying this little beaut - the foam technique not the card (a sheer impossibility considering I dont posess any ingrediants) !!
So, Wilsonettes, come clean, how many of you cant wait till 12th night when you can demolish any - dare I say shop bought cards : 0 to take off any embelishments, ribbons, jewels etc to use ? : ) my fingers are twitching I can tell you ! Even Mr Lancashire starts to ask if certain bits n bobs are useful ( only my close family cards are safe from this annual surgery) ! I even took part a gift bag that had glitter on one side to save to use with my dies next year ! Is nothing safe from our crafty crafty hands I ask ?
I agree with all my friends here that today's card lifts your heart and mind, you can almost smell freshly mown grass, wow, cant wait for warmer days.
Well, I've had 6 orders for cards after my last Farmers Market/Craft Fair so I must be doing something right, and it all goes towards starting my SB/JR/CE stash, so Im quite pleased : )
Im also really happy for our 3 lovely winners this week,.my stamps were so pretty Sue, thank you SO much : ) you must be looking forward to flying back into the sun next week Sue, and.Im more than happy to help you with your bags both on AND off the other side : )

That's me done you'll be glad to read all I want to say is....
Love n hugs to all our lovely Wilsonettes, and each day brings us closer to seeing our Sue on our screens again wooohooo !
Lancashire Steph xx

Good afternoon Sue and all fellow Wilsonettes,
Well the last few days of 2013 and i sincerely hope that 2014 is so much better for everyone.
Cameeli:- sorry flower i didn't know your son had been struck down by that horrible illness and so pleased to read that he is on the way to health again and out of hospital.
Glad that Tracy you have your dad back home amongst you again. Tell him he's to behave himself and not scare you like that again.
Meg:- if you go to Sue's front page up the top, you will find a video all about the shaving foam technique.
Steph:- It's fantastic you have orders flower, it gives your ego a much needed boost when someone asks you if you can make them a special card. Mr. McPhee, is just learning after 23years of marraige not to throw anything out without fist consulting yours truly. Silly man was going to throw out good fine wire, i ask you.
Sue i think you could possibly need a few helpers with "all your bags" as we wouldn't want to leave anything behind and you need a coordinator just to tie up all the loose ends.:)
I love todays card as it is so cheerful and brings on thoughts of longer light days and warmth from the sun. To me it brings back memories of my twin brother, myself and big (boy) cousins, playing in the fields at the farm next door to us and the happiness of that idyllic time. You have got the colours just so right. Thank you Sue for the lovely memories.
Fantastic news for todays winners Ros, Tracy and Jeanette. I hope you will all enjoy your gift when it comes.
Love crafty hugs

Lovely sunny card and to hear that Carmeeli's son is on the mend - ooh! a wedding to look forward to as well! Am glad to see that Tracey W's dad is out of hosp. Congrats winners Need to source the inks you have used Sue coz when I tried this technique what I thought was red came out wishy-washy pink!

Love this card Sue, so refreshing after Christmas colours. I must try the shaving foam technique, my husband bought me some foam ages ago but it is still sitting on my desk unused!! Ann (France)

Hi Sue. A really gorgeous bright and sunny card today !! I love, love, love Sunflowers !! The Sunflower stamp is beautiful and the sentiment to. This stamp set may have to be added to my ever growing wish list !! I have tried the shaving foam technique with my step daughter and we had a great laugh !! The results always look fab. I really love the colours you have used for yours Sue. Using the JR background stamp on top and embossing with white powder is such a great idea and one I never thought of doing !! The ribbon is lovely too.
Tracy W and Cameeli, I am so glad your loved ones are on the mend. Great news !!
Congrats to all the winners today.
Lots of love to you Sue and all the Willsonettes.
Love from Tres x x x
