Orphan Cards

Hi there bloggers!  This is probably the most controversial post I do all year, but it is sort of a tradition that on the last day of the year, I post what I call my orphan cards.  These are some of the cards that I made throughout the year that just didn't sing to me when there were done.  Sometimes, I have a vision in my head of what I think they will look like and they just don't.  Sometimes, the colours aren't working together for some reason.  Often, I just didn't have something to work with that could have made the difference.  Whatever it is, here are my Orphan cards for 2013.  They never made the blog because I wasn't happy enough with them, but they need a good home, someone to love them and nurture them.  So if you would like a chance to win my Orphan Cards, please leave me a comment today and I will draw a winner and post the name on Friday.  I do want to say, however, that I leave for Florida on Thursday so the task of posting these out has fallen to a coworker.  She may or may not be able to find every one of these cards so it may be a partial shipment this year.  What do you say, do you want to be a foster parent?

One more quick note before I wrap up the year.  Many of you will remember that I did a demo up in Scotland this past July.  I got a lovely email this week from both The Papeterie in Aberdeen and the charity called Archway that we raised money for.  It seems that we not only hit the target goal of raising £5,000, but we smashed it to bits and raised over £7,000!!!  That is due to both the efforts of the small staff at The Papeterie (four people) and their special money raising events, the charity card auction we did on the blog as well as all the DVD's that were sold from the demo day in July.    I want to say a great big thank you for all of your help to surpass that remarkable goal!  The monies raised will allow Archway to maintain the services and opportunities it provides for it's respite care.  I can't thank you enough!  You are an amazing bunch!   All for now, Sue x

I think these 'orphan' cards are great Sue. We rae our own worst critics so what we may not like, others will. Sign of a true perfectionist I think!

They each need their own blog spot in my opinion.

Good Morning Sue,

Firstly, many congratulations to everyone who helped to achieve the amazing total of £7,000 for Archway. You must be so delighted Sue to have been able to play such an important part in the fund raising. As for the "orphan cards" obviously I would love to be the one chosen to keep these safe for posterity's sake, but in the event that I'm not it's comforting to know that some like-minded person will be keeping these safe. I would however like to thank you for your amazing inspiration and sheer hardwork on our behalf over the past year. I know that I for one have greatly improved my cardmaking skills because of it. It only remains to say I wish you a safe journey back to Florida and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Although your 14 'orphan cards' may not have come up to your expectations they all look great to me! I would be over the moon to offer them a nurturing environment. News that the Archway charity fundraising event far surpassed the hoped-for amount is amazing and I am really pleased to have taken part in your blog auction towards this. Thank you for the inspiration you bring us through your blog and demonstration videos. Wishing you a great trip and a Happy New Year to one and all.

Good afternoon Sue and all fellow Wilsonettes,
Firstly thank you EVERYONE that took part in raising so much money for such a worthwhile cause as Archway. You don't know just what a place like Archway does for people such as myself. Although not Archway, i have Play Alloa who gave me respite for my Autistic son. They have been there and gave me what seems nothing to others, but 3 hours on a Saturday morning, it gave me back my sanity. Even at his worse, they never barred my wee boy Rory. They gave him 1-2-1 attention that he needed, but gave him a chance to have a friend. He had never had that as none of the children would play with him. I unfortunately because of accidents and school abuse, disabled and can't walk the same, but my scooter is great, so from people like myself who needs just that wee bit extra help from one of these charities i thank each and everyone of you that helped raised such an incredible amount for such a worthy cause.
Sue, how could not love these poor wee orphans? I think they need a good home that is going to treat them nicely and they don't ask for much, just a wee space to sit and be loved.
Have a good and safe journey back to your homeland and your beloved mum. I know she has very good friends to take care of her when you are not there, but a mum never gets tired of seeing their children, even at your age. All the very best for the new year that is coming.
To all my wonderful fellow Wilsonettes i wish you all that is good and thank you for cheering me up and keeping me going. Have a great night and since i don't drink i can only raise my coffee cup to you (someone can have my share of the tipple).
Love and crafty hugs, see you next year,
Norah (Glenochil)
