Friday Christmas Two-Fer

Hi crafters!  Welcome to the last double day before Christmas!  I was rather enjoying these as I always sort of felt like there was something for everyone's taste.  My favourite Christmas angel stamp has made an appearance once again.  From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew that I just wanted to see her done with gilding flakes.  I couldn't get her inked with flake and glitter glue fast enough! LOL  I stamped and gilded her here with the Persian Dawn gilding flakes on black card.  Since this is my fire and ice technique, I covered the piece with a sticky adhesive sheet, peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Iced Snow.  I cut the Majestic Label 25 die in silver card to create a frame for her (it picked up the silver from the flakes nicely in person)  I added mounting foam to the frame to raise it for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it into a strip and backed it with a thin silver mat.  I added three poinsettias made from the Layered Poinsettia die and added two to the sentiment strip with some black tulle and the third to the upper corner.  A final double mat of coconut white with a pierced layer to complete the card.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" in size.

Christmas card number two here has been done on kraft card and paired with a deep royal blue card as a striking contrast.  I stamped the Heartfelt Creations holly swirl on the kraft card with a clear Perfect Medium for a watermark effect on the background.  Next I cut two Timeless Rectangle dies out of the blue card.  I overlapped them in the centre to create a larger area for my focal element.  I used the Justrite Holly background and stamped it on the kraft card and embossed it with copper powder.  I cut out the centre of it, but added a Lacy Oval die cut over it.  I stamped my sentiment in cobalt blue archival ink  and placed it behind my opening.  I wrapped blue seam binding ribbon around the opposite corners and tied a messy bow and added it in the corner.  I added some metallic twine and small pine cones as accents for my bow.  I finished the card with a double blue mat with a pierced inner layer.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed the last of the Christmas double days for 2013!  All for now, Sue x

Once again you have made it very difficult for me to choose between today's gift.
I love the format of both of them and the colours are lovely again on both. I am a traditionalist where Christmas is so I shall have to cast my vote for number 1 today.
Have at long last got my ponsettia dies - so they are put away for 2014 and my handbag stamps etc arrived yesterday so cannot wait to play with those.

Hello Sue and Wilsonettes. I know I waffle on far too much, but thought you'd grabbed the candy and ALL the 2013 W.O.W's.(wonder of Wilson's) and done a runner ! The site kept crashing, and I wondered if you'd got that fed up you decided to boot me out : 0
Well HA, cant keep a Brummi out of a well loved, with lovely ladies craft room !
Back to the Fri two-Fer. 2nd card is my absolute favourite, I enjoy making 'different' and non traditional cards. In fact I did a VERY un-traditional card last week - for a friend in Bham, a Goth, had a wreath die which I cut out and onto black card, the wreath I cut in silver mirri, then I realised I had some bits left from Halloween, I made some trick or treat bag, so instead of using the bauble dies that came with the wreath I hung a silver bat from it ! She was delighted with it, and I must admit, so was I, it doesn't sound much but I was really pleased as it was quite stricking even if I do say so myself ! So, I thought outside the box good n proper ! I dont think Ive ever made a.'traditional'.Christmas card other than the kits you could buy from that company that keeps going bust, and from that 'other' channel I USE to watch donkey's years ago ! Which is why Im in the minority today and prefer the 2nd card.
I DO love the technique you used for the back ground Sue, infact Im going to re-read the 1st card and try it out. Just got some heat resistant acitate and two shades of ink, so Im hoping to try another technique that our Julia did last week : )
Cam - hope your journey up this way goes ok, will be on the hard shoulder as you drive by : ) we are only an hour or so away from your destination, so if you need a weather up date just ask, go safe.

Hope all my Wilsonette friends have an enjoyable evening (dont forget to Text Santa) tonight.
Love to all. See you tomorrow.
Lancashire Steph xx
p.s. Thank you for my birthday messages yesterday it was so lovely of you. Oh, and I sent my congrats to candy winners on relevant post (I refuse to do it again here) not at all upset you understand considering I had another wrinkle to admit to) !!! : ) xxx

Hi Sue. Two great cards to finish off the week !! I think both cards are lovely but if I had to say a favourite one it would be the angel card. I love the look of your fire and ice cards but I have not yet tried this technique.
I have been doing some candles in between being quite ill. It is my first attempt at candles and I have made them for my sister as a little stocking filler pressie. I have used white candles and used my justrite doily stamps. I used three different sized stamps and just stamped in black archival ink on to white tissue paper, used a glue stick to roughly attach the individual pieces, put grease proof/ wax paper around it and heated it with my heat gun. It came out great !! I put silver gems on different parts of the stamped images. I used one of the new crystal sparkler gems in the centre of the largest design. I wrapped black wide organza ribbon round the bottom, I then wrapped some lovely sparkly thinner silver ribbon over the black ribbon, lastly making a smart bow in the centre ( one that looks a little like a mans bow tie) and put some silver gems on that too. I have some small clear glass bases for the candles and will wrap them in clear cellophane lastly tying them up with ribbon and adding a justrite charmed christmas die and stamp !! I am very pleased with the results and I will definately try this again in the future to make lovely handmade gifts.
Lots of Crafty Christmas Wishes to every one Lots of Love Tres x x x
