Fun Embossing

Good Sunday morning all!  A bit of long awaited news before I launch into the details of today's card.  The much sought after embossing folder called "Tied Together" is back in stock finally!  I can't tell you how many emails I have had about how to get a hold of it.  I know that Sam Poole (Creative-Studios) has it in stock now and you can ask any of your local stockists to order it for you too.  Just a little note for future reference though, Couture Creation brand embossing folders are ordinarily only limited release.  Once they are sold out, they are gone.  We were able to convince them to do another run of this design this one time, but if you see one of their designs you like, don't think about it too long as it might not be there!  If you haven't a clue what this folder looks like you can see a sample here http://particraft.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/tied-together-again.html

I had a bit of fun with today's card as I decided to use the Spiral Flower four as an embossed element for my background.  I didn't use the die to emboss in the usual way.  I cut two of the dies out of kraft card and glued them together.  I used those under my card to leave a fun spiral shape embossed in the background of my card.  I did one, then moved it to do another, but I left the already embossed section out so it would not be flattened.  Next I cover a piece of coconut white card with self adhesive sticky paper and cut a bunch of the largest flower from the Cherry Blossom set.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered them with clear micro beads.  I used the smaller flower dies and cut matching ones for centres.  I inked them lightly with Spun Sugar distress ink and finished them with a small flatback pearl in the middle.  I placed the flowers on foam mounting tape and scattered them over my background.  I also cut some tone on tone flowers from the same background colour just as small accents around the card.  I stamped my sentiment in the upper corner and pierced the edges to finish it off.  I took this picture after the shows and the card got a tad wobbly from being boxed with other samples, sorry about the wavy background on it!  I am hoping you might enjoy adapting some of your own dies and using this technique.
Julia Watts is on Create and Craft today at 12 noon (Tool Shed) and at 5pm too.  Don't forget
to tune in to see what she has on offer!
As it is Sunday, it is time for the drawing for the Comment Game winners.
They are:
Tracy Carmody!!!
Marg 0006!!!
lady e!!!
Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your postal address to claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hi there.
This card is different but pretty. I've made embossing folders from die cuts too. If the two cuts are not entirely lined up, it can give a kind of shadow effect which changes the feel of the embossing.
