Happy Birthday

Good Sunday morning all!  A simple barbeque card made with the King of the Grill die set.  I started with a coconut white card background and cut a Double Stitched Hexagon die multi layer frame out of red and black card.  I cut the barbeque out of red card for the inside of the frame.  I added the flames and a tool to hang from the side of it.  I cut the extra tire circle in black and added it over the top of the wheel.  I used the Happy Birthday die in black at the top of the card.  Three white Double Stitched hexagons for accents down the side and finished with the king of the grill sentiment in black, the chef's hat in white and the grill which I coloured with a silver paint pen and a vintage photo distress marker.  White, red and black mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 3/4" in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

Lynne L!!!
Tres!!!
Stitchingranny!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous card Sue.. Love the cheery barbecue, great male card.
Congratulations to comment game winners, enjoy your prizes.
Donita, so glad you persevered with your story, never mind your editor, You Did It Your Way, and the praise from the two editors proves you were right. Once you were finished you would be able to enjoy your turkey and trimmings. You mentioned donations, was it a charity or hardship story. Rhode Usland may be small but it is a beautiful place, I love it.
Carmen, sometimes the inspiration doesn't flow but glad you managed in the end. Hooe your Mum has a very happy birthday, she will love her card I'm sure.
June, that Groovi class sounded great, I love the look of parchment.
Karen M, well done on progressing to one crutch, carefully does it though.
CreweTrish, your daughter will have a super time for her birthday..
Elaine, good that Mary was a little better, Andrew too, I know how much you worry about them.
I'm with Maureen, don't want any of the white stuff, I hate driving in snow, my car thinks it is an ice skater.
Happy Sunday folks, keep warm and well. Hugs Aplenty to keep you going. Special ones for all missing and poorly friends.

Morning Sue, hope you're keeping lovely and warm on this very cold morning. Still, this great card adds a little warmth bringing back memories as well as something to look forward to. ........ Lovely barbeque weather.
My King of the grill dies were waiting for me when we got back along with the tool box and apron dies. However, I haven't had time to play with them, yet. Might have to buy the hexagon ones next as I love the way you have seated the barbeque inside one.
Congratulations to today's winners. Enjoy! Hugs to everyone. Stay warm. XX Pauline

What a great card for the King or Queen of the Barbeque! The Double Stitched hexagons are one of my favourite geometric shapes and love them as a card blank.

Hi Sue,

Love the design of this card, those hexagons are certainly worth investing in aren't they, even the row of three plain cuts adds to the overall picture...I'd be tempted to bring the barbie indoors to help boost the central heating in this cold spell we're all "enjoying" at the moment...

Congratulations to the Comment Game winners!...and to Donita - that's dedication beyond the call of duty to work over the Thanksgiving to finish your story...tell us more, who was the story about?...

Morning Sue,

Great fun card for the BBQ kings. Only one thing...you forgot to add the Singing Lobster.

Pete was our Anniversary BBQ king (he even caught it on fire one year), and when I saw the Singing, Dancing Lobster, I just had to buy it for him. The grandchildren thought it was great and wouldn't let it stop until the batteries ran out, not so much Pete but he took it in good humour. Funny memories just have a habit of sneaking up on you and making you smile.
I am/was so blessed to have him in my life.

Love 7 hugs

Dear Sue and Friends,

The big multilayered hexagon frame with three little hexagons down the side makes a great setting for almost anything! We can put anything we want in the frame, any sentiment at top, and any embellishment at bottom. Also the frame and minis down the side could be circles, ovals, squares. Thanks for the layout. Can you imagine the pram in there? The wheelbarrow? A trellis and flowers? The Easter basket? Monkeys, and a banana in each little frame? Stitched sky and hills with a balloon. What you've given us is a solid start for anything.

And not just with this card. For every card!

Sue, I bet you're familiar with the feeling I had last week, every time a new launch is about to debut. Although I bet yours is 1,000 times harder than mine. You've knocked yourself out doing the best you possibly can, and then a little more than that, and then it seems to disappear down a bottomless hole. You thought it was good, but you wonder if that's only because you put so much work into it. Then it comes out, and people love it more that you did, because to them it's inspired rather than hard work, and it's fresh and a surprise and seems meant to be, because they didn't see all the things you tried and discarded.

It's probably the same with cooking a meal or planning an event.

It was about a teen who has a brain condition called DEAF1 that has only recently been identified. The girl looks normal, in fact beautiful, but she's going backward rather than forward mentally. She just turned 16, but she's sort of like a little kid and sort of like an old person with dementia. The mother tried to raise money on GoFundMe, but because her daughter looks so normal, people accused her of trying to scam them. She wanted people to know the condition is real.

Thank you Pam and Frances and Izzy and Carmen and Maureen Killen and Crewe Trish for your timely encouragement. Encouragement has such unexpected power.

Congratulations to the winners announced today.

Love,
Donita

Barbara C, it's always a problem isn't it. One doesn't wish to look greedy but at the same time not enough bags would be a disaster dahling ha ha.
Yorkie girl, hope you managed to get to your fair today.
Oh Donita you are an inspiration in working so hard on this story, I'm so pleased you told us what the story was about. I wanted to ask but didn't like to. Poor girl and poor mother, how awful to watch your child going through this and people thinking that you are trying to scam them. Good for you in raising awareness, I hope she gets the help she needs. Our NHS is not perfect, but they would not have to pay for medical help.
Love to all and I think we need to count our blessings, once again.

A really lovely card and I did like yesterday’s too! I haven’t caught up on everyone’s news either!
I do like the barbecue set in the Hexagon. These are very versatile Dies!
Donita - I have only read what you posted today. So I’m guessing you did an article about this. I believe it’s a recently discovered gene. It’s very sad when parents are trying to find answers for a genuine illness and are accused of cheating or worse! Well done you for bringing this to the attention of the public . Stories like that are sad though and are bound to be upsetting! Sending some hugs!

Hello Sue,
Brilliant card, I just love those dinky tools and the stitched hexagons make a super embellishment for a bit of added interest. Not really barbecue weather here at the moment, it's been snowing today but I'm sure our Aussie followers will be clamouring to get their hands on these dies.

Congratulations to the lucky ladies today, enjoy your prize when it arrives.
Donita you really put your all into your job, glad your story was appreciated by at least two of the editors. What a sad story though, how on earth do they cope, it must have been quite heart wrenching for you to write. Let's hope your story raises awareness and they get some understanding in future. Sending you extra hugs.
Carmen thank you, my back has been a problem for a few weeks now but it's behaving itself at the moment, I think having the scan scared it into being good!
