Christmas Double Days

Hello crafters!  I have a couple of brighter cards for this week's double day!  The first card is also a sneaky peek at one of the dies on my ODS shows that start this evening at 8pm on Hochanda.  I started by doing a tonal background for the card by using Holly Green Sparkle Texture Paste through the Large Polka Dot Mask on to Rich Brunswick Card.  I left it to dry overnight then added my focal element to the centre.  I stamped the Winter Forest Stamp To Die For and cut it out with the outer die from the Filigree Poinsettia die set.  I coloured it with Distress Markers (Festive Berries, Forest Moss, and Evergreen Bough)  I stamped my sentiment and layered it up using the smaller die in the set.  I completed the card by adding red Poinsettias in the corners, accented by Pine Sprig in two shades of green card.  White, green, white mat layers were added to finish it off.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  6 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two was one of my last demos from the shows that I did last weekend.  Grab your Pixie Powders to make this one.  I used Midnight Blue, Purple Violet and Peacock Green from the corner of the card and gently squeezed the bottle to get a spray across the card with all the colours.  Do be sure to put some waste paper or wax paper under where you are working as this can be quite messy.  Spritz the powder with water to activate and leave to dry.  I cut both pieces of the  Aurora Star (decorative and then backing), scored all the arms and gave it a 3D look.  I glued it to the corner of the card and added a pearl swirl coming from it.  You could easily add a sentiment in the corner if you like.  I completed the card with black and white mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Those of us that may remember the Sue C and C Creative Expressions stamping shows will no doubt agree with me, how enjoyable it is seeing Sue stamping and how lovely the end result always is, thumbs up to Distress Markers also and our stamping as well as die-cutting super Sue. x

Good Morning Dear Sue. What a feast of colour this morning, makes you want to get straight into our 'craft zone' betcha all ready beavering away in yours lol Mrs early bird. As already mentioned above, to watch you stamp and colour is like watching a master at work, as beautiful as watching butter melt into hot toast lol jeez I'm hungry now, but for crafting not breakfast ! These double days and those in between are more than welcomed, not only because they are so gorgeous but orders are coming in left right and centre each thinking they'll be the first to get their order in ! So with 12 orders already in my book I'm starting to fret as I'm finding it hard to get festive, especially as Lottie is approaching her very first birthday and things are being organised for her celebration (or should I say for her parents) as she won't remember a single thing about it !!! But there you go, it seems to be the 'in thing' now and parties at home don't seem to exist there days - showing my age lol and cake smashes are all 'in' what a waste of a beautiful expensive cake AND money ! All the dies I could buy for the price of a modern cake smash I could cry lol anyway it seems I've gone off track again, I need to remember this is an appreciation of an amazing lady who gives us amazing inspiration, dies, and encouragement, so that being said I can't pick a favourite cuz both make me smile equally but in their own way.
Need to ignore how much or little space is left in the box and get recording so I can make a start on my book of horrors lol by the way Sue I'm more in love with the stitched animals now they are walking across Littie's card, they are completely adorable thank you xxx
Have a good day and look forward to watching you work and play xxx

Sounds like you're making the most of your holiday, Pam, lots of interesting things to do/see.
You OK Laine or scabbied out? Will have to look up a recipe for PP's roasties, all so tempting!

He felt ok on ,the way home just tired , that was to be expected .

Hi Sue,
yippee, double day today! And your show tonight to show some more fabulous cards, such as the ones on the blog today. Both totally different, both with immense appeal to me. First one because it's a "proper" Xmas card with "proper" Xmas colours, and the second one because of the timeless colours and I'm hooked on Pixie Powders. I can work with them better than with the gilding polishes, can't blend them all that well (probably just me, I've seen marvellous examples of crafters' work).
So....... verdict: Absolutely gorgeous cards - thank you for sharing.
Hugs, Rose

Glenharon said...

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Number one is my favourite Sue as it so reminds me of all things christmassy and christmas's from time gone by in my memories. How you have coloured in the focal point is just beautiful and the whole card just says happiness. The Aurora star card would have me in an even bigger mess than normal so i will leave the pixie powders to those that like to get messy. I can do untidy around me upto a certain point but i can't do messy as it contaminates absolutely everything i go near, so i will leave that to the photographs. THank you flower for two gorgeous starts to the day, i hope you have a great day.
Elaine, i am so and this sounds bad but it is not meant to be, but i am so glad that treatment has finally started for your lovely Andrew.Sending him big hugs and i hope that the treatment does it's job thoroughly so that he can get on with living a full and active life. Sending hugs to you as well as the strain of waiting has played havoc with you as well flower.
Tina T, just what the doctor ordered, a lovely night out and what better time than your anniversary, hugs on their way to you as well flower.
Tina, i hope that Mick is being good the now and can i hope that he puts on a wee bit weight and is still eating well. Sending hugs down to you both to keep you going.
Well we have a rotten dreich day up here at the Ochils and since i needed to get petrol when i dropped Rory off at college today, i just got the milk out of the garage instead of going into Asda, as at least i stayed dry that way. What most people can dodge and perhaps get a spot or two on them, i would get thoroughly soaked so definitely the best of two options, lol. Well the kitchen is just about finished with all the tiles, it just needs some grouting and paint work to disguise the joins. The wee bit of walls that are left are getting painted as i am about pulling my hair out with the tiling and i really can't afford to go bald, as it's taken me to get thicker, wavy hair by gaining grey hair. If i'd known when i was a teenager, twenties or thirties that going grey would thicken up my hair and turn it from being poker straight into having a wave in it, i would have wished it happened years before. I definitely think that my cloud had a silver lining to it, its called thicker hair, lol.
I hope that where ever you are that you have a good day my lovely Wilsonettes, and if you can't be good, then please be careful.
Sending hugs to all that need, could do with or want,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil Village)

Two gorgeous cards today, the first bold Christmas colours, the second, my favourite, just, had that beautiful sky background that you excel at.
Tina so glad you and Peter had a lovely meal to celebrate your anniversary and lottery win.
Elaine, that was a long day for Andrew, like Norah said, we don't want anyone to have to go through the treatment but when it is necessary it is a better day that it has started.
June Smith, yes I am having a great holiday, have seen a lot of new places, Stonehenge yesterday was spectacular, it's a pity that you can't get closer to the Stones, they look so majestic. They do need to take the traffic off that nearby road though, that will pollute the site more than the visitors. Went to Poole Yacht Club last night for supper and the Quiz, it was a fun evening. Went over to see a magnificent yacht that is hired out for 190,000 euros per week for 11 guests, crewed by 14 staff. How the other half live ☺️ I will be home Sunday teatime.
June Horrocks, hope the skin graft went well and that you are not in too much pain.
Tracey, hope you are still on cloud 9, don't jump off too early, you deserve this happy time.
Tina and Mick, hope things are going well for you.
Hugs to all.

An exciting double Christmas card presentation today. Looking forward to your hochanda ODS coming up. I was able to watch your demo with the second card on hochanda. So glad you told us crafters we can "squeeze" the Pixie Powders to create something so amazing as your card. Having been told to only tap the bottle of Pixie Powders, I probably never would have tried the "squeeze the bottle" technique unless my first impulse got ahead of me and I squeezed instead of tapping.

Hi Sue and crafty ladies
love Christmas double days. Saw Sue's demo of the star card on Hochanda and have to say I am very impressed with the pixie powders - I need some!!! I can see why you like them so much Princess P. They are amazing. Love the vintage feel of the first card too.
Just have to say that you lot are so lovely!! Got a call yesterday to say there was a room for FIL and we've moved him in today but the care staff said it was best if we left and leave him for a day or so to settle into his new surroundings before visiting. That was quite upsetting, feel like we've abandoned him but we just couldn't look after him, we both work and he needs 24hr supervision. Hope to see him on Sunday afternoon.
Special hello's to Princess P, Laine, June S & Lorraine, sending hugs to all.

Hi Sue
Well normally I can't choose a favourite but would probably sway towards the second card because of the main ingredient - yes the pixie powders. Saw you demo this card on Hochanda and was horrified to see you 'squeeze' rather than tap which was completely ignoring your previous advice! Having seen the finished result though I forgive you. Lol x
The first card is also a stunner. Complete contrast from card 2 - much more traditional. I bought Holly Green texture paste at A P and love the result achieved from using it with a mask - I will get round to it!!
Now Wilsonettes please forgive me but I have quite a few things to get done before 8pm and The Highlight of the day - yes our Sue. So I will have to catch up on your news and comings and goings at some point over the weekend.
I hope everyone is OK and ready to enjoy the master at work x
Lots of love to everyone
Sorry to be brief

Hi Sue. I like both of the cards, but I think that the first one in the more traditional colours is my favourite of the two.

Hello Sue,
I'm home!! I've been on holiday in Spain for the last week so that's why I was commenting at odd times or not at all! It's lovely to home again and in time for your Show Sue! My shopping has been delivered and put away so we just have to have something to eat and then will watch in peace!
Today's cards are truly lovely! I really, really love the first one but I also love the second one! I wasn't able to see you demo it though as I was away! I can see a bit or trial and error here!! I have the Star as I really loved it .
Sorry ladies but haven't had time to read anything yet as we only arrived home around 4.15pm!
Relax and enjoy this evening everyone!
All the very best Sue! Love Myra xx

Good evening lovely sue and her crafty crew!

What joy, a twofer festive delight! And what a treat you have in store, two of my favourite products, pixie powders and texture paste so how can I fail to adore these wonderful cards? Choosing a favourite is a real challenge simply because they are both polar opposites in style, card one is very festive in a traditional way with its colour tones, poinsettia and beautiful stamping.....you are such a master at this art, I really wish Hochanda grabbed you for some stamping themed shows because we could all learn a lot from your beautiful examples.....and the texture paste is awesome.....I'm such a fan, and who'd of thought. Originally, I believed it to be a messy technique but boy was I wrong, it creates a stunning, very effective background perfect for a Christmas card. Whereas card numbers two seems relatively straightforward by comparison involving one die and some pixie powders, however, the results are fabulous! Just one question though, how can I now bring myself to squeeze after I've had it drummed into me to only gently tap?:-)Next you'll be telling me the world is actually flat:-)
Apologies for my absence yesterday, Darcey was back up to her old tricks, she knew I had an early start so she took great delight in keeping me awake until after 3 am:-( I struggled through my day valiantly shopping and getting my nails done....oh, the agony.....but found myself really flagging by the evening, I guess I'm not as young as I like to believe:-)
I've had a quieter day today in preparation for my Sue marathon and boy am a excited, I don't care what the ODS is cos I'm buying it regardless such is my hunger for all things festive at the minute. I soak up the wonderful inspiration from Sue like a sponge, so many hours devoted to her and her fabulous dies is a real treat to behold.
P, I hope your babies are recovering well after their ops, I would be worried sick too, it's hard being a parent at times:-) I'm not missing Yvonne, just her scabby potatoes, mine are still a work in progress I'm afraid:-(
Deb, what great news, though it must be bitter sweet for you since it's always hard to have a loved one enter a home. I'm sure that he'll get all the care and attention he needs so try not to worry, hugsxxxx
Pam, I'd love to go to Stonehenge, it sounds mesmerising. I'm glad you're enjoying your break, have a safe journey home on Sundayxxx
Elaine, what a relief to have Andrews treatment finally begin, it's such a long tiring day for him though:-) I really wish him all the best.
Tina, glad you had an enjoyable anniversary dinner, hope Peter is s well.
Cuddles to Yvonne, pat, Maria, Myra, Maureen, Norah, June, Wheely bad, Rebecca, Beth ,Alison Tracy and all who need a hugxxx

Two lovely cards. I wouldn't want to pick a favourite as I like aspects of both equally well. Love texture paste and adore pixie powders as both are such great fun to use and result in great end products as you have shown here.

Both cards are glorious but I have to say my favourite is number two. I think it's because being colour blind I struggle with red and green together BUT I have to say one of favourite flowers is a red rose...!

Wow Sue, I don't even like that dark green but you have made it fabulous so guess the first card would win for me but I love the colours on the second and the aurora star is so lovely.
Steph, wow to all your orders. I am going to look into selling some items next year. Fingers crossed for the same success as yourself. Just hope my makes are nearly as lovely as yours.
I have not heard of a cake smash but I hate food waste so don't think I would be a fan.
Tina, so glad to hear that you and Peter had a great evening out.
P in Wales, I hope your furbabies are ok.
Gentle hugs for Andrew, Elaine and I hope your coffee morning went well.
June H, gentle hugs for you too I hope everything heals well.
Norah, so glad the tiling is over hopefully the finishing touches won't take too long.
Helen Bell, hope the paint stripping goes well so you can get back to crafting.
Had a very up and down day but still playing with the holly and poinsettia gemini. Just put my recording of Sue's first show on and PP gets mentioned straight away:) and there is my new fave die.
Happy viewing everyone xxx

Hi Sue
Two stunning cards today.
Although I am a blue person normally I think the first card is my favourite. Cannot go wrong with the classic red and green and
the unusual background of dots is just something different to the normal.
