Antique Background

Hello crafters!  Today's video takes an embossed back ground and shows you how to give it an antique look!  It is a great technique to use on those masculine cards as well!

We miss you Sue so hurry back soon, hope you have enjoyed CHA, it is one place I would love to go to see all the new things coming on the market.

It is very wet and freezing here so when you come back wrap up warm.

Good morning Sue and the band of merry Wilsonettes,
I would like the card for me with out the extra covering that is over the top of the bed of roses embossing Sue but hey that's just me and i can't do messy and not pristine. I just got my Heraldic Square on Friday and it is every bit as beautiful in real life at what it can do, i just love that one and so glad that i finally have it. I like the touch of black that you have put with the card as it is just enough to lift the soft gold and white. This amount of black i'm good with(lol) as it just takes a card from normal to chic or elegant. Thank you Sue for another wonder of wilson that we can make our own.
Well no surprise that it is raining here in Glenochil as well but we do have the odd flake of white stuff desperately trying to get a path through, and although it looks lovely on the hills please can we leave it there as it is not nice to drive in or for some of us to try and walk in( that'll be the some of us that have that difficulty just as a norm never mind the weather chipping in to make matters worse for us). I am on the border of a shawl so i am going to sit in front of the fire and carry on with that so i am sending hugs out to all my dear wilsonette friends that could do with some that are going through a hard time the now and to any one else that could do with one of wants one.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil village)

Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I'm losing the will to live now, I just spent 20 mins typing my comment only for it to disappear into cyberspace...maybe a blessing in disguise cos you no longer have to suffer my inane chatter about the weather, January blues and what housework I should be doing instead of typing this!:-)
Briefly though, I have wonder of wonders actually watched Sue video BEFORE I chose to comment today so I can actually comment with some knowledge of the proceedings...whether my musings make anymore sense is debatable though! Basically, I adore the shabby chic feel created by the use of the black soot to enhance the EF detailing. The distressed look always appeals to me even if I am rarely brave enough to try it out for myself- ripping and inking paper is something I struggle with! The mixture of the stamping and embossing for the background is a technique that I will definitely be giving a go, it creates dimension and texture in a way that a patterned backing paper never could. Love the delicacy of the vellum flowers, a real favourite of mine lately, they create a subtle accent to the card.
I'm really looking forward to the special CE weekend in a few days, though, like many others, I will miss our Sues expert prescence...often wish that we could devise a way of cloning her so that we could have her on both sides of the Atlantic at once:-) Nevermind, we can console ourselves in the knowledge that she will be back with us again next month hopefully promoting her new release of dies. Am I alone in panicking about a new set of must have dies when I haven't even started collecting the last release? It has came around too quickly for me this time but I only have myself to blame...and the fact that I chose to buy an LK Bennett jacket and sequinned cardigan in the sales instead of buying some much lusted after dies...call myself a true Wilsonette? I am a disgrace to Sues legion of dedicated fans and thoroughly deserve to be die less and bereft! Well, I have a couple of weeks to redress the imbalance and either rob a bank or sell a vital organ to fund the discrepancy:-)
I have been desperately trying to source some gilded card stands to display my finished cards on but with little success...until now! I contacted the lovely ladies on Sues Facebook appreciation page with my difficulties and I was pointed in the direction of ebay where brass ones are being sold for the reasonable price of £6. This has proved a godsend because I was previously using a Tattered lace card stand die that often needed to be cut six times in order for it to hold a Sue copy/ inspired card, a massive waste of paper and very laborious. I wondered if any other ladies had this problem and just wanted to fill you in on my discovery. I will keep you updated on their strength and quality when they arrive.
Think I've bored you enough for one day:-) just want to extend my best wishes to all my Wilsonette buddies, you know who you are, I hope that life is treating you kindly, big hugs to you allxxx
Missing Yvonne, Beth and Rebecca, hope you are all wellxxxx

Love and crafty hugs

Laine1972xxxx
