You Made My Day

Hello crafters!  Now that all the festivities are officially over, let's get down to some serious crafting! LOL  Okay, well maybe just some fun crafting and I'm starting with this pretty little number from the Gemini Collection!  It made a quick appearance during the blog launch, but I thought it should really have it's own day on the blog.  Sometimes my cards have a story and this one sort of does.  I was at a trade show in Atlanta last July and I met a lady that has the most amazing hand dyed silk ribbons.  I was literally drooling over them when I saw them!  I chatted with her for quite a while about them, hoping to be able to bring to the Creative Expressions line.  However, they were rather pricey (due to the hand dyed part and the silk part!), but she gave me a few samples and this card using one of them!  Just look at that luscious teal silk ribbon (be still my beating heart!)  I just fell in love with the hombre look to her ribbon!  She gave me several yards of it so you may just see it show up on a few more cards (when I am done stroking it and looking at it longingly! LOL)  This was a real quick card I made using the Carina Gemini die as a petticoat bottom.  I cut it three times and used the same edge for the top and bottom and switched it around for the middle layer.  I tucked a piece of teal card under the bottom layer so it showed through the cut out areas.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the tag from the New York Collection and inked through the die with Peacock feather Distress ink before removing it.  I mounted it the upper corner and added my messy bow at the edge of my petticoat on the opposite side.  I paper pierced a white border, then added a thin teal mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2"
 x  8" in size.

The winner of the Orphan Cards is:

Jean Phillips!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue My Dear Friend,
I Love This Awesome Card, I Love The Colours You've Used The Coconut White And The Teal, I Love The Rich Opulent Ribbon And I'm So Sad You Couldn't Bring It To Creative Expression As I'm A Huge Fan Of Ribbon, And The Close Up Shot Really Shows The Ribbon At Its Best.
I've Also Purchased All The Gemini Dies And I Love Them As They Can Be Used In So Many Ways, I Even Used Them On The Flap Of An Envelope I was Sending Out Very Pretty Indeed.
Sue Thank You For Today's Beautiful Card I Just Love It Thank You For All The Tips And Techniques I'm Looking Forward To Seeing Many More!

Morning Sue
Oh how could you use this beautiful beautiful ribbon! Apart from that it's silk it's 'TEAL' in colour. Just how beautiful a combination is that!!!!!! This definitely has to go into my 'NEED' file even though I do not stand a chance of ever owning some!!!!!
Today's gift is truly beautiful. Simple in format but what a statement it makes. I love your set of Gemini dies and have two but more are on my list.

I hope that everyone is now back to normal (I know I am - well as normal as I can be)and so crafting 2015 here I come but first as it's Friday it's going to Market day in Corbigny to see if anything has changed since November and hopefully seeing all the regulars there. It's very very cold and a good thickness of frost so wrap wrap and wrap again before we go.

Norah - you are in my thoughts and prayers on this very stressful day for you and the family. Please remember all the good things and do as 'Aunty Jean would have you do'. Hope to see you back soon.

Many congratulations to Jean - what a fantastic way to start the new year.

To anyone feeling under the weather and in pain I hope you feel better soon. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

(I really love hearing more about why you use particular items, like the tale behind this ribbon, or any extra things about what is going on so thank you for todays post.) I bet you wanted to buy so much of this ribbon at the trade fair, shame it's so expensive.
Congratulations Jean, so many beautiful cards to treasure : )
Nora, I will be thinking of you today.

Well, what a fantastic start to the year Sue. Every time I think you cannot outdo previous cards, up pops one to blow our minds away. As you say 'drool' over the ribbon, it is spectacular. Does she have a site we could order from? Just for special occasions mind.

Congratulations Jean.
Lovely card. The ribbon makes a real statement. Don't think it would be on any of my cards as I would still be stroking it and not wanting to give it up for anyone!!! Lol

Hi Sue,
Gorgeous card today and that ribbon!!! It is just scrumptious. I would never have been able to part with it.
It was lovely reading the story behind it.

Tomorrow we are leaving the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and heading back to southern Germany. An 18 hour drive in front of us, so early to bed.

Congratulations Jean on winning the orphans, I am so envious.
Nora my thoughts are with you.

Love and Hugs

Hi Sue

Beautiful. I love teal and the ribbon- mmm mmm! I'd love some fabric in the same colours and style. I have the gemini die with the lattice but I only got it a week before Christmas and haven't been able to use it yet.

Anyone driving home after the holidays please take care and I wish good weather and clear roads for you.

Norah, hugs as ever xxx
