Old Oak Tree

Good Sunday morning all!  First of all I should probably say that I am either very late or really really early with this card with it's Happy Father's Day sentiment on it.   However, in my defence, I did make this card earlier in the year and the sentiment was just right at that point! LOL   I do think, however, it is a great card for a guy any time of the year so with that in mind, I decided to post it today.  I really like this stamp as it is so versatile for those pesky guy cards we all have to make from time to time!  I decided to make the entire card a bit distressed and started by tearing the edges on two pieces of Sky blue card.  I inked the torn edges with Tea Dye distress ink.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower left corner.  I mounted them on a piece of white card.  Next I stamped the Old Oak Tree stamp on to kraft card in Black Archival ink.  I cut it out using the Innsbruck die set and outer cutting insert for a bit of decoration around it.  Before removing it from the die, I inked it with Tea Dye for a bit of definition.  I cut a small circle out of copy paper and used it as a mask for a moon shape.  Using a white pencil, I added some haze around the mask and then a bit of outlining around the tree.  I used a blue pencil to add colour to the lake and tie in the blue background card.   Before adhering it to the card, I cut a piece of hessian (burlap) and removed a number of the strands in both directions.  I glued this to the card, then attached my focal element die cut on top.   I finished the card with a double kraft card mat and added Cosmic Shimmer  Choco Brown PVA glue dots around the edge.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 3/4" in size.

morning Sue
from a very damp but beautiful Autumn morning here in Burgandy.
Thank you thank you for today's gift. It has just come in time for my granddaughter's partner's birthday. I love the ideas you have used (and I can think of many of the male species who the tattered edges and burlap applies to).

I have to catch up with posts from Thurs/Fri/Sat and will try to do this today. So I hope that I haven't missed any extraordinary happenings and that everyone is coping and feeling better. It's definitely Autumn here the colours are wonderful in the forests but it's also quite chilly so log burner time to make everything warm and snuggly.

Congratulations to all the very lucky winners.
To all who are not feeling 100% hope you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe.
See you tomorrow.

Sunday Smiles to you Sue. Hope you had some good quality sleep to prepare you for, I dare say another busy day for you, or do you have 'Sunday off' ?
Well done to all winners today, enjoy your useful gift, I know I still do.
What a great masculine type card (I so agree with Patricia, men's cards fill me with dread, no flowers or bows, urgh) so its really helpful when you give us samples of more male like cards, although with a quick change of colour it can be changed for a female card. Your highlighting techniques bring some eeriness to the whole of the picture and bring it alive, the white pencil makes a whole bunch of difference to the scene. Such a great card to finish the week, you have bought us some amazing samples, two fantastic video tuts, and how can we forget the Thursday of all Thursday's, what a great week, thank you, but I should imagin there are quite a few Wilsonettes looking forward to next weeks post (and salary cheque) lol.

Pam - Hope your gentle return to work hasn't taken too much out of you, but I bet its been great to start to get back to 'normal' its been a long time hon xx

I need to go back and read the latter posts from yesterday as my concerns for Lynn and 4 paws are growing, and for Lyndsey !
Im hoping your holiday in Turkey dear friend is a relaxing one, you SO need some R&R.

To those who feel sad and down or feeling unwell, I send a bouquet of hugs and hope you know we all care.
Have a good.Sunday.
Love you.

Wonderful card for a man and I love the stamp and howe you have used the colour.
Lynda thank you so much for letting us know how Lynne is and I hope her hubby and soon are well on the road to recovery and Lynne herself can get some serious rest time. Sending her special hugs.

Norah well done for making such a special gift for the bride-to-be and I'm so pleased she like them. Hope Rory is still doing well at college.

We had a lovely day with Nikki, went shopping and had some lunch and all she wanted was a new purse and was thilled when she saw a shiny black patent one. My Mum bought her a lovely little patent bag many moons ago and she took it everywhere with her till eventually it got really tatty and was thrown out...I think the purse sort of reminded her of that. She has always amazed us with her memory even though she is Special Needs...needless to say she was thrilled with her purse.

Congratulations to all the winners today enjoy your prizes.

Hugs to allin need of them and hope you days get brighter very soon.

Good morning Sue and my Wilsonette Angels,
I love this card Sue and it was really nice of you to bring something different to our screens and unusual. I think this would make a lovely card for any man whatever the time of year, you're just coaxing us around to Fathers day that's all. The stamp is a beauty and done in the autumn colours looks really beautiful, but there again i love the colours of autumn as they are so varied. Another WOW Sue, thank you for the constant and surprising inspiration that you give to us each and every day. We are never let down because each day is another beauty brought to our lives by a beauty. I too added your name to where i could on the awards questionaire/voting form as i felt that your name should have been in included in a lot more categories because of the multi talents that you possess. Everything is crossed that you sweep the floor at the awards.
Lynda, please let our Lynne know that i am thinking of her and sending hugs to her and her family. I hope that she feels more able soon as she is missed.
I'm sorry you have been ill Katie-Louise, i hope that you are on the mend now and feeling a bit more like yourself. A virus is a horrible thing to get and the doctors say they can't do anything or give you anything because it is a virus. Sending a hug your way.
Wheely, so glad that you made the obvious right choice in P.A. as they are more than just a worker or colleague, they are someone that you are putting your life in their hands and so much the better if she can enjoy your hobby with you then she doesn't feel like a spare wheel. Enjoy yourselves today with your dad and stepmum and i have my fingers crossed for you flower over the hydro pool because it might just make the biggest difference to you.
Sheila, i can understand Nikki's love of her wee patent bag as i had a red one when i was wee and it went everywhere but it looked kinda funny with the dirty face, skint knees, one sock up, one down and the ponytail skeewiff but it went with my RED shoes that i loved. It is amazing just how much a special child does know or remember and it brings that warm glow to you when you realise they remember these silly wee things. I hope you bought Nikki her purse and put a penny in it for luck as it is unlucky to buy your own purse. Glad you had a lovely day with Nikki and she had back.
Andrea, i am glad that you feel welcome here because we love to have new friends come and join us and meet them. I know Sue always likes to see new faces come along. We are here for all occasions , but some of us are nosy like me and like to see where all my Wilsonette friends are from and we are pet lovers as well, so make yourself at home.
Cheryl, it is great news flower. I know the treatment is going to be hard on you but we will be here for you and with you in spirit at least every step of your path. Sending you a hug just because.
My Angels, thank you. I am not what you call a confident crafter and always doubting whether something is truly good enough, but you give me such a boost to let me think that i can accomplish things. Thank you for all your kindness, i am just so pleased for Kelly that she is getting so many nice comments even if they do think that a firm made them, it settles me down that they couldn't have looked home made, so thank you to the loveliest friends a person could have. She is, as you can imagine on the floating plane at the moment, i think because she can't quite realise that it is happening after all these years and it is real. Other brides have a build up to there day for things to go right and wrong, she hasn't so i have everything crossed for her that it all goes to last minute plans.
Rory is fair taken at the hugs he receives from my Angels, so thank you for bringing a wee bit of happiness to my boy.
From a day that looks like it is going to be nasty, i hope that you all have the sun shining if not from outdoors, i hope from inside out. Sending hugs to all my angels both here on blog and not,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,
What a different offering we have today! It is, as you say, very suitable for the men in our lives but I'm sure would be adapted for ladies too. It is a lovely stamp. I like the hessian - just not sure about the distressing but I guess the card would be totally different without it. I need to come round to it!
Sam - I hope you have a good day crafting in Doncaster , but an especially great day crafting with Julia. I'm sure you'll have good fun as well.
Sheila - so pleased you had a lovely day with Nikki and that she loved her purse.
Have a good everyone.
Love Myra xx

I am a fan of the shabby chic/distressed style and always love it when you post a change from your usual style. Have some hessian but never know what to do with it.
Congratulations to all the comment winners.

Good afternoon Sue & friends,
Great one for the guys today, love how you have given depth to the image by adding the white pencil around the moon!
Lynda, thanks for taking the time top update us on Lynne and her hubby's progress, please send her my love and tell her to hurry back to the blog as we all miss her and the antics of the fur babies! X
Norah if the feed back you were getting was that they couldn't tell if they were professional made invitations, that's great flattery and shows that your style and finish must be top notch! Well done you, I made someone's wedding invitations once and it was both laborious and I was sick of the site of them by the end, I guess it's not normal to make the exact same card over and over again. Rory deserves all the love and hugs he gets bless him. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog, it really made my day that you took the trouble to stop by x
I have had a busy weekend with mum & dad in law visiting!
Janet, oh I really want to cosy up in front of your log burner, all sounds very idyllic, but you forgot one thing............I am still sat in windy Oxfordshire! :(
On a serious note I am glad you arrived safe and sound after all your worries before hand, hugs xxx
Sending huge hugs to all of my Wilsonette family,
Sandra xxxx
Ps congrats to all the winners xxxx

A most unusual, beautiful card Sue. I'd love to 'have a go' at producing something similar (very-slightly-similar. ahem!!), problem is, being from MARS, I've no idea where to get that stamp. It would be much appreciated if some kind soul pointed me in the right direction, please. (((XX)))

Try joannasheen.com, good for all the products Sue uses! However, the old oak tree is currently out of stock. You can leave your email address and Joanna and the team do inform you when it's back in stock. Joanna's prices are often some of the cheapest, with quick delivery.
You could also try ebay.co.uk, I got mine from there today for £4.95 free postage. Good luck with your search and purchase!
love, Andrea xx

Hi Mary Mac,
I've posted you some details of where to get things from. I hope the information helps.
Regarding Sue's dies and embossing folders, they too are all on joannasheen.com, she also has specials offers in. These offers change on a regular basis. Failing that, again ebay.co.uk, another good supplier/retailer is iconuk.co.uk they often have the stock and they are one of the cheaper sellers. Not many of their dies can be found as cheap. Postage/delivery also very good.
Good luck with the search! Andrea xx

Rats - not lucky this week- again.
Like tbis card, very much. Love the colours and the unusual stamp. Makes a nice change.
Still hoping for some ideas for smaller and FLAT cards for posting for Christmas. I saw the small one that chap did last week (forget his name) and t'was a good idea, but not flat so still needs a large stamp.
