Shaped Background Technique

Hello my crafty friends!  I've got a good one for you today!  Don't forget, your background dies can be used for loads of things beside just a simple background for your card!

We had a last minute call from C & C yesterday wanting some more die shows today.  Unfortunately, my schedule was full, but John Lockwood has kindly agreed to step up and do the shows today at 10am and 3pm.  This will be John's solo debut, but he did a stellar job last Thursday so I know he will do a great job!  Don't forget to tune in and see his fabulous demos!

Buy from Joanna Sheen

Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue,
What A Truly Fabulous Card And A Fantastic Video, What Else Could I Ask For, On A Very Wet And Windy Morning. I Love The Richness Of The Colours You Have Chose To Use. The Stunning French Background Is Awesome And Like All Your Dies They Cut A Dream, The Colour Of The Background Is Amazing I Haven't Got That Colour Of Foundation Card I Must Get Some As Its So Opulent. I Love How You Have Utilized Your Dies From The French Collection, Even Though I Watch Your Video's Time After Time I Still Don't Utilize My Dies As Much As I Should, I Loved How You Framed Your Background Then Cut The Rest Away. I Loved The Fabulous Detail From
"The Quilted Flower Embossing Folder" Your Embossing Folders Are So Impressive And Give Such A Great Imprint That Is So Tactile To Touch.
I Love The Beautiful Satin Edged Ribbon And Your Amazing Stick Pins.
Sue Thanks For Sharing, Thanks For The Fantastic Video Long May They Continue, Thanks For The Great Photography Shots They Show Your Awesome Amazing Card In Such Detail, I Truly Appreciate Everything You Do Thank You So Very Much.
Sue Take Great Care

Morning Sue from a very wet and stormy Lancashire, I hear all sorts bashing around someone's garden in the distance ! Hope all our Wilsonettes homes are safe with no major damage. Janet, BarbiePink, and other Wilsonettes that are abroad have had the right idea, Im certain Turkey will be safe from this awful storm, but Im not sure about Europe, are you free from the storm girls ?
What crafting retreat ? Where ? Sounds just what I need for that hard kick up the tush !
What can I say about your card today that I dont say about the rest ? Ooh la la maybe. Its beautiful. I only have the border corner and die out of that set, but I use it so much, and yes, the border is a dream, infact the whole set is, in fact ALL your dies are. I 'tried' to get some interest back yesterday starting with a Ruby Anni card to add to my market basket, but the ruby coloured card I used no matter how small the amount for 'popping' purposes was too much for me as I like subtle with heavy coloured card (apart from black) but as Mr L pointed out "its not for you" is it our 40th ? NO so pop it in your cello bag and move on to the next ! Did anyone hear the sound of whip cracking ?!
Anyway Sue, its such a shame you couldn't do today's show's. I did do a double take when flicking through todays show's to see if it was worth watching, then I noticed Sue Wilson dies and promptly pressed the red button. I hope your busy day is enjoyable Sue.

I really need that craft retreat. But in the meantime, Im sending hugs to all that are not well, that are sad, and those finding it hard in anyway today.
Thinking of you all.
Stay safe.
Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx

Wow! What a treat you've given us this morning it's beautiful! Your video makes it so easy for us to try and replicate. I love the rasberry card it's another 'must have' when will I ever be rich? lol. As you know I always buy the background die first out of your die sets and I learn different ways of using them constantly.
Disappointed it's not you this morning but looking forward to seeing John he did a good job last time. I have had to set the shows on record because I'm out for most of the day.

Hello Sue - it's me again.
Something went wrong with my post so I hope you don't mind my return.
Norah - Oh how I feel for you and your trees. Although we have had the Willow pruned we still have a very very large Fir; Rowan and a beautiful Catalpa (Indian Bean Tree) in the garden. I know the Willow will grow again but at the moment it really looks bare. We are right on the edge of the Morvan National Park with its wonderful forests and lakes (we decided to buy here because of the forests). The industry in this department is the farming of the forests. When they cut they always replace and not just with fir. It is also the area where most of the Xmas Trees come from for France.
Sandra - Hope Lucy's visit to the hospital yesterday was of some use. We are here until 16th Novemer as we always have Xmas with the family returning to France on Boxing Day for a few weeks. Mr E loves to draw/paint; fights with crossword and suduko books. He also loves to play with wood - last year he built me the most fantastic craft cupboard standing 5ft high and he carved two little plaques -Yorkshire Rose and the Fleur des Lyse for the top two doors. The idea was for me to keep all my crafting stuff in one place. After all this time he still doesn't know how we crafters work!!

To all who are not feeling 100% hope you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Oh. WOW ! This card is Stunning! I Love everything about IT and can't wait to try to duplicate it, I have the dies but not that gorgeous raspberry ribbon, I feel a "need that " coming on. Lol !
I only caught one of your shows last week Sue, which was wonderful , but I have not yet seen John so I'm looking forward to seeing his 10 am show.
THANKYOU ladies for all your comforting words of support , I truly appreciate them, thanks to Diane , Sandra ( lovely words ) Alison Alimecca, Janice W,L Steph, Jess W ,Pat L , Norah ( you have a wonderful gift of a way with words ) MaureenK, Myra P, Brenda L,Angela W, Lynda, Frances Fluffycat ( you made me laugh ) and Maria.I feel very lucky to have blog friends like you all and will pass on your Get Well Soon Wishes to Iain.xo
I'm wondering how June Yorkielass is doing , she hasn't been on much lately and even when she has it wasn't her usual chatty type of comment?
Janet, I love my garden too and had a willow that needed trimmed fairly frequently ( a previous house ) but it always flourished again, I think you just have to relate it to when you have a haircut, it makes you feel good to have good cut occasionally, so just think of the good it's doing the tree.
Well seen I have time to play with stuck in a hotel room with no work to do or toys to play with, but at least I can watch C&C without feeling guilty until it's the visiting this afternoon.
Love and Hugs to all xo

Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,
I love today's card Sue in the black, raspberry and white, it is stunning. The French background die and border set are just so beautiful done in any colour and my favourite since getting them for cards, as they are stunning and give fantastic effects every use. What a stoater of a card for today and that beautiful ribbon bow just finishes it off for me first class. I think i am going to have to try and find some of this ribbon as it is so pretty. Thank you Sue for a beautiful card.
Wishing John all the best for his solo shows.
Pam, where are you this morning? I hope that it is just a lie in you are having and nothing else to have kept you from us today.
Granny Sue, i hope you have a great time at your crafters retreat this week, but i think you could have done with a Norah, Steph, Lynne and all the rest of the mad hatters tea party to really enjoy it, but there again you might have needed a holiday to recover from this one if we had come. The one thing i can assure you of it wouldn't have been dull, whether you would have learnt anything is a total different matter.
Well girls, there is no way the trees will grow back as he has cut them down to a 12" stump at the most. Oh i am so upset about them as they gave a great screen and had been planted the first spring after we moved in there. To say my hubby is no gardener is putting it mildly as he sees it as a chore and would have everywhere chipped if he could get away with it. Going in to meet my friend in at Stirling today but since her husband retired we have got a tag a long that moans and groans the whole time about us going around the shops, us stopping for coffee a few times. Our worse crime is window shopping or on the other hand buying something out the pound shop, as it is such a waste of money. I am hoping that he finds a hobby sooner rather than later as this the day that we put the world to rights and go through our frustrations which we can't when he is there. Awh well, just 5 days we have the Glasgow show where we can have a day out that leaves everything to do with the men in our lives at home as i only get the 2 tickets, my disabled one and her carer ticket. So girls, look out for me, the mad woman with WOW badges in the scooter with one in the bun of my hair and one on my top depending at what level you are at. I think i will need to get rid of the plastic bags that are in my boot before then though. I am a recycling fiend where as hubby is a dumper(everything that doesn't move in the bin), so i gave up all the bags and take them to one of the shops that recycle the plastic bags( which is all types of bags i put in). But there again i go raking the bins to take stuff out of the wrong bin and put it in the right one as i just can't do with things being in the wrong place, but hey i am that bad when i go shopping. I resort their clothes rails so that the sizes run to order as i hate seeing them all upside down and higglety pigglety.
We have a beautiful day up here at my Ochils, perhaps not warm, but the sun is out and the storm didn't come to anything up here at Glenochil, but for everyone that it did hit, i hope that you are all safe, property included as they can do such untold damage. Sending hugs to all my Angels in blogland and not at the moment, thinking of you all,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue and everyone. Oh Sue, beautiful card. Love the background die and the colours you used are gorgeous.Have not had a chance to see our new boy yet, will try to find him on catch-up.

My husband and I are both retired,I can keep myself busy with all sorts but he found it hard at times. He will have to find his own hobbies but after working for nearly all his life it's a bit tricky to find something, try talking about crafting is nothing he understand only wonder how much it's cost this time(that's between me and my purse) Going weekly shopping he's good as I'm not driving but if I was going into town for a mushe, window shopping and coffee with a friend I would leave him at home and not have to see his miserable face and constantly asking if I'm done yet. lol I love him to bits but he needs his own hobby.Hope you still had a nice time in Stirling with your friend and"tag" Norah,Hug!

Love the colours and the card is just fantastic. I'm pleased to find that I can view YouTube on my 'smart' tv so when there's nothing on that I want to watch (often) I can just tune in to the 'Sue Wilson Channel' from the comfort of my armchair!

sincere apologies Sue haven't been able to leave my thoughts for several weeks but hopefully I am now back in full force. Love this card today and incident
ly I have managed to see every card you have worked so hard to give us. I have caught John's shows and really enjoyed and learned from them plus....he managed to make me get more of your dies as he did such a good job of demonstrating them to us. Had got some of the French collection but of course had to have the rest just so that I had the right dies for the stamps which I also had to buy!!! Thanks again and promise to try and do better at commenting!! Also managed to catch your great shows too and it was so great to see you on tv again. sincerely Maureen

Hi again Sue, can i please put this up for Pam as i thought of her nephew straight away.
Pam flower, have you seen todays news on the man who is walking again after being paralysed in a knifing. I just thought that it might be something that George and Agnes could learn more about for our Robbie. Sorry if it is me being daft but it wouldn't hurt to look into it,

Hi Sue,
I'm a bit late today - blame the decorator and the general mess in this home today however I love today's card and the raspberry card is a favourite of mine . Thank you. Managed to watch John's afternoon show while ironing! He is very calm and did very well. I particularly liked the second card he demonstrated. Was really nice to see so many of your cards once again.
Patricia - welcome home from sunny Florida - you picked a bad week to come home! Hope you had a lovely rest.
Diane G - hope your daughter's 18th is a big success. I missed the lunch time news so hope you did not take off Mary Poppins style with your balloons!
Norah - just thanks for being you! You bring some sunshine every day . That's a real gift . Hugs for you and Rory! xx
Anne - not easy being stuck in a hotel away from home. Thinking of you and hope Iain is able to get home very soon. Meantime enjoy C&C . Take care.
High winds here today and squally showers. Many plant pots overturned and some branches down but thankfully no real damage. Hope everyone else is ok.
Love to all,
Myra PS - Pam do hope you are ok! You are missed. Xx

Lovely card, magnificent dies and embossing. Very pretty matching ribbon. I need to go back Sue and spend more time admiring your work. I've just been watching John's demos with Dawn (repeat) on C&C. He was fab and such a relaxed competent crafter - job well done John.

Hi Sue, a lovely card today and thanks for reminding us again that we can use our dies in more than one way.
