It's A Double Day

Hello my crafty friends!  It's a double dose of Christmas today and my angel is leading off the way.  It's a funny story about this card.  When I received the Christmas die prototypes, I immediately began to cut them all, grabbing some black card that I had handy.  The angel was first and I didn't get much further for awhile as I was so taken with her that I worked up this card from some bits that I had laying around! LOL  I used a white embossed card made from the Floral Brocade Pinpoint embossing folder and matted it on a thin black mat.  Atop that I gilded a large square piece using a sticky adhesive sheet on card, then rubbed Calypso gilding flakes over it.  I matted that with a thin black mat as well.  I glued my Christmas Angel 2014 die cut in the corner and cut a white dove for her to hold.  In the upper corner, I used a pearl snowflake so it looks a bit like a star.  I finished the card with double white mats with a pierced inner mat layer.  No sentiment needed.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for card no. 2.

The second card was shown on the blog during the Christmas die launch, but I still feel it needs a proper showing and written instructions.  I started with milk coloured card and stamped my sentiment just below halfway and heat embossed it in silver.  Next I embossed it with my Snowflake Lattice embossing folder.  I cut the piece so there was about an inch and a half of it to use below my borders.   I cut two of the Austrian borders out of milk card.  I offset them so the edges were top and bottom and glued them together, which gives you a completely different pattern.  I glued one edge to the embossed background and the other edge to the smaller piece that I cut off.  I added mounting foam to the back.  I ran a strip of sticky adhesive on another piece of card which lined up with my borders.  I peeled the backing off and added Iced Snow so it showed through from the border area.  I cut a Sentimental Bauble decorative die out of vintage silver card and the matching solid die out of silver and glued them together for a tone on tone look.  I cut the Peace tag out of milk card and added it to mu bauble along with small pearls to the lattice work.  I mounted the bauble in the upper corner with a messy bow tied from chalk seam binding.  I added a vintage silver button and metallic twine to the bow and placed some pearl swirls coming from around the bauble.  The card was finished with a pierced milk mat, a thin silver mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed your double day!  All for now, Sue x

Yes, Sue, do enjoy your double days. Two lovely cards, unusual not to have a sentiment but - as you say - absolutely none needed on the angel card, it speaks for itself. Like the subtleness of the colours on the second and clever use of the double borders. Both very nice indeed and thank you for the inspiration. Have now purchased some Californian dies (yeah - late, but finally got there) so it's playtime!

'P' in Wales

Txcowgirl - howdy! Keep the posts coming. The adrenalin rushed through the roof as I read about the poor Yorkie - OMG. Lots of us are animal lovers on here. Could answer all your queries but will of course leave it to the originators LOL - will just say sloe gin is quite addictive, and I'm virtually TT!

Good morning Sue and everyone. Love both cards but the second one is my winner today. Hope you and Julia have a great time this weekend.
Pam, glad the boys enjoyed their birthday. Dawn (txcowgirl), it's lovely to hear stories from different parts of the world. I hope the Yorkie is recovering, I can't imagine what it must have been like to see the bird swoop down and grab the poor dog, we only have to worry about seagulls dive bombing and leaving large gifts all over!!! June, thanks for recommending that Sue's poinsettias are so much nicer than the Spellbinders - I can't stop playing and now have a box full of various colours. Happy Friday (at last). Sue xxx

morning Sue
A beautiful way to end the working week sending us two of your fantastic works of art. I have to say that your Angel is my favourite today. She is so graceful and who wouldn't want to receive the gift of peace -All of us would love that-.

P in Wales - now now we don't want to get our new sisters into our bad habits straight away do we?
Txcowgirl - Hope your Friend's baby-yorkie- is improving. It must have been horrible seeing that happen.
Wheelybad - You just stay where you are and let your furry baby keep your legs warm and snug. We have been having our roads and paths resurfaced and new street lighting put in now for well over a year and it's been just one obstacle course after another especially when the workmen have fenced off the holes they have dug and then disappeared for weeks on end sometimes.
Sandra - so pleased to have you back. I always stick the sloes with a fork; they do not burst if frozen first -I get mine frozen from my daughter and so have to defrost them and they have never burst so i'm afraid it's forks at the ready. Sorry I'm not much help. My heating is going on too as it's turned really cold up here.
Norah - wonderful news re your family wedding. What a time you're going to have making gorgeous invites etc. Calls for some retail therapy too - new dress/shoes me thinks(lol).
Steph - hope you enjoyed your break and that your baby loved the sand and sea.

We still a nasty wind here this morning and it's cold so in doors for me today. Have decided quick dose of housework and then some gentle crafting is my prescriptions for the day.
To all who are under the weather hope you feel better soon and to all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue. WOW !! Both of these cards are gorgeous today !! I really love everything about them !! The Angel card is stunning Sue !! I am so pleased as I have the Angel die. The Angel and the Holly swirls were the first dies that I bought from your new Festive collection as I think they are both so beautiful Sue. I still have not yet started my Christmas cards !!
I have a special 40th Birthday card to make for my sister (we were both born on the same day but two years apart !! ) Also I need to make a card for my hubby who's Birthday is exactly one week later and then I can finally get around to making some Christmas Cards !!
I am going to make an Angel card first as I really can't wait to use this die. I love the Calypso gilding flakes you have used but every time I have tried to buy some they have been sold out. I do have the mulled wine flakes though so will give these a go instead. I think they will look very Christmassy. The Angel card looks so classy and elegant. Such a beautiful card.
I also love the Bauble one to, but I don't have any of these dies. I love your idea of two of the Austrian borders put together and glitter underneath. I think that is a lovely idea. The Bauble itself looks beautiful and I love how you can put the word dies in the centres. Another beautiful card Sue. Great EF's and I love the vintage silver card, it is fab.
I hope you have a wonderful crafty day today Sue. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x

Pat L, I hope you and your family are all ok. Thinking of you today. Wishing you lots of love and gentle hugs from Tres x x x

Norah, Thinking of you to. Sending you and your family lots of love and hugs today from Tres x x x

Pam, sorry I forgot to say a very Happy Birthday to your twin grandsons yesterday. (I blame my rubbish brain. I am so forgetful.) I hope you all had a good time together. Lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x

Lindsey and Lynne M with fur babies, I hope you are all ok. Missing you. Sending love and hugs from Tres x x x

Texas Cowgirl Dawn, Welcome to Sue's wonderful blog. I read your story about the little Yorkshire Terrier. It must have been so frightening. I do hope he is recovering well. I have a little Yorkshire Terrier myself. He is called Fudge. I also have a Jack Russell dog called Charlie and a black and white cat called Charlie !! When myself and hubby met, he already had the two dogs and I already had the cat. Life in our house can get a bit confusing some times !! I read that you are unwell at the moment. I do hope you feel better soon. Sending you lots of love and special hugs from Tres ( Teresa) x x x

Wishing all the Wonderful Wilsonettes lots of love and hugs today. I hope everyone has a good day love from Tres x x x

Hopefully she will have at least 6 months. She seems quite philosophical about it. Steph hope you have enjoyed your break in Wales. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonette Angels,
WOW Sue both cards are beautiful and so very hard to pick a favourite. Because of a beautiful Angel on this blog the Angel will forever remind me of my wee mum. She had an outfit almost identical to this that she made when she was about 17. Her waist at that time was 18" and her hair although she could sit on it is in a bun, so as i say your beautiful die will forever remind me of my little angel mum. I love the gilding flakes background as it looks like the heat of the sun on a really hot day or the glow of the sky that we get now and then that looks so alive but beautiful. The little white dove of peace looks like it is going to take flight into the sunset sky. The second card is so pretty too and with the channel border with the gorgeous Austrian border and the snow crystal underneath just glinting through adds that touch of something extra but divert away from the rest of the card. If it said peace instead of Happy Christmas it could be for anyone of any faith. Thank you for 2 stunning cards Sue and the inspiration that they give.
June i got an ebosser early this year as i sometimes don't have the strength to turn my Grand Calibur but i only use it when i really need to. Why you might ask, well i have this stupid notion that if i can keep going turning the handle my arm muscles will not be wasting the same and keep the electric one just for when even the scissors are sore to use and if i have a power cut crafting is still an option.
Glad Jack and Ryan had a lovely time Pam and i hope they got lovely gifts that they wanted for their birthday. Hope that you are progressing well and that you will start to feel the good effects from having had the operation on your foot soon, but don't try the marathon just yet please as we don't want a relapse.
Ita, hoping that you are going to get some good news soon as you deserve the break flower. Sending healing hugs across the Irish Sea to you that you will improve soon.
Angela(Wade) have a lovely time on your travels and i am quite sure that you will get a warm welcome when you come back from your fur babies, safe journey.
Dawn (TxCowgirl) a close is a passage way between two houses that joined together, normally if there is like four in a row you will get a close between the middle two so that they can get around to their back door and back garden(yard i think you call it but don't quote me on that one). My name is the Irish spelling of Norah as the other is the English spelling but is also short for Norcessis. How do i know this wonderful gem, my Nana was a Norcessis and got Nora for short, and boy am i definitely not. I always said that i was half daft because i had and Irish first name but then i got married and landed an Irish last name as well so now i am all truly daft( i have a sense of humour). Poor wee Yogi, he must have been so frightened for a start being grabbed like that and a 2nd for being hoisted up in the air like that. I am so sorry that the wee lamb is injured and hope that he will recover with tender loving care from him mummy. You will come to realise that i am a bad influence on the blog because i can get carried away but being in the house 24/7 this blog has become my saviour with all the beautiful people on it, so we are all pleased when Sue gets new Wilsonettes joining as we are like a big family. This blog has the kindest and most caring people that could be on this earth so i hope that you will enjoy being a Wilsonette with us. Take care and sure hope that you are better soon.

Part 2
Pat i hope you wont think me callous at not posting about your wee granddaughter yesterday but when i started to type there was 45 comments and i wont tell you what when i was finished, but i am so sorry to read about your wee scone being in GOSH. She is in one of the finest hospitals in the country and they will take good care of her. The nurses that are in the hospital are the elite for care and manner just because they are caring for little people. I can understand her brother missing her as, as much as brothers and sisters have their wee differences of opinion shall we say, we miss them like mad when they are away. I hope that the visit to the hospital will perk both the wee lass and wee fella up as she will be missing him every bit as much i can assure you even as ill as she is. Sending healing hugs to the wee soul and hope that she is home again soon to you.
Wheely i really feel for you as i can't lie on my back for exactly the same reason and if i land on my back, boy it is impossible to get myself over onto my side never mind my front. When i landed in by again(the hospital) trying to get the nursing staff to understand just the pain that was travelling down the legs and arms was excruciating. I find it amazing how Billy is so clever to know just what to do to help you and bring some relief, what a clever boy he is and if he came to my house i could cater for his treats for being so clever. One day i will take pictures of my beautiful landscape to let you all see just how lucky i really am. I hope your back starts behaving itself soon so that you can get back to life and what you enjoy even if it is only for a short while at a time.
Poor Lucy, there is always one of us twins that get it worse than the other Sandra. I am wondering though if Sophie and Lucy are like Jim and i. If one of us took ill, the other had the symptoms but not the actual illness. I always knew when Jim was hurt because it was me that got all the pain and he knew when i had been hurt as well. So as you see i can really sympathize with poor Lucy as it's not funny. I hope both your beautiful girls are feeling 100% better soon. I have a feeling that their great triumph at the weekend might be a contributing factor into Lucy being ill, it certainly wouldn't have helped either lass. Question because i don't drink at all, What is sloe gin? Hope you have got a heat in you today Sandra and please tell Lucy you appreciate the thought but please don't share.
Lynda i hope you are feeling better today after yesterdays bleeding. Did you take it easy because it would make your blood pressure do funny things and not good if you are trying to carry on as normal afterwards. ((Hugs))
Well a colder day up here at the Ochils today with the trees suddenly going from green to autumn colours and the leaves falling all around. Oh what a great day to go for a walk just to see all the new beauty around the countryside. The colours that have come on the trees is so lovely and with some still green and some silver leaved trees still hanging on with their foliage. I love the different colours of nature and the beauty that they bring to each season never ceases to take my breath away. I hope that where ever you are in this wonderful world today that you have a lovely day and just look at the beauty that surrounds you. Hugs to all my Wilsonette Angels, thank you for caring and just being you.
Love and crafty hugs

Good morning Lovely ladies,
Sue thank you for two delightful cards, both are fabulous Christmas cards, but the stunning Angel, wins, hands down every time for me! She is so worth all of the many hours that you spent perfecting her, she is undoubtedly the Supermodel of the crafting world, she needs a name that depicts her beauty! Thank you Sue xx
Txcowgirl, welcome to the friendliest, most caring place there is, this bunch of lovelies will have your back whenever you need them, their genuine warmth and very wise words can guide and support you through whatever life throws at you, it's great to have you as part of our 'family'x
Sloes are little blue/black berries that grow in hedgerows amongst blackberries, rose hips etc, the taste disgusting, the absorb every drop of moisture from your mouth, but mixed with sugar and a litre of gin, you have the most delicious sweet tasting liqueur, you must try some. Xx
Janet, I promise not a drop passed my lips! I am not a huge fan of gin to be honest, I don't mind the Bombay Sapphire one (it's in a blue bottle) but otherwise not . Enjoy your prescribed dose of crafting, I may well do the same, shame we couldn't do it together xxxxhugsxx
Tres sounds like you have a list of cards to get through, enjoy xx
Alison, I truly hope that they get the dose sorted with your Aunts meds so that she can at least be comfortable, my thought are with you, hugs too xxx
Cameeli, hope you are well xx
Mrs B & Pat I hope you two are well and behaving your selves! This time last week, we were so excited, we must. Make plans for next week xx
Lynda, I hope you are ok, I have asked paul to photograph the lovely birthday card you gave me and I will put it on my blog, so look out for it, do you have anything exciting planned for the weekend? Xx
We gave football tomorrow Sophie & Lucy both play for our local team, so a bright early start for us tomorrow.
Well I do hope you all have a lovely weekend, big hugs to each and every one of you xxxxxxx

Two lovely cards today but I absolutely love the Bauble card as I am not really a fairy/angel type person. Love the colour combo of silver and white.

TXCOWGIRL Dawn I live in the Scottish countryside and we have a lot of large birds called Sparrow hawks who have attempted to attack my friends mini dachshund. I don't think it would have been able to carry her very far but the shock could easily have killed her. My friend just happened to go out to the garden and it had been inches away from grabbing her. I don't know who got the biggest fright the hawk or my friend!! I hope Yogi is recovering and is not left too traumatised.

Hi Sue,
Arrived home this afternoon to some lovely weather so that was very welcome! Two beautiful cards today! My favourite is probably the bauble one but I love the angel too. I think if I had to choose a card I'd pick the second one . Definitely going to copy or sort of copy the bauble one. My bauble stamps arrived while I was away so that gives another option. Can't wait to do some crafting as have missed it while away.
I do love the Joy die - its cuts beautifully and looks so stylish.
I won't leave comments for other friends today as I really must finish unpacking and sorting post etc. on top of that my shopping arrived an hour ago . Pleased about that as family coming for lunch tomorrow!
Have missed the grandchildren so looking forward to seeing them.

Hello Sue,
These are lovely, I would love to have some Christmas dies, and these are special.
Must share with you a story about Christmas, which being from the states, now in England, will probably not surprise you. Several years back I had a British friend living here who played in our Bunco group (Bunco is a game, popular with the ladies). We met each month, and in Dec. we decided to have a luncheon, and everyone bring something to contribute. We all signed up, and my British friend, Paula, wrote she was bringing Christmas crackers. Several of us then, signed up to bring dip to go with the crackers. We were all quite surprised to discover they were not the crackers we expected. We still love telling this story, and it brings fond memories of Paula who moved away.
For those who asked about Yogi, the following is Peggy's latest post on his condition. She also shared some photos, poor baby, he looks awful.
"Well it's not a pretty site but yogi is healing since he was attacked and grabbed. Monday we hope the last two drain tubes will come out. He is starting to get back to his old ways a little so we are blessed. Thanks to everyone who prayed and showed concern. Love you"
She also tells me he won't go out in her fenced backyard to potty anymore by himself. Can't say I blame him.
June, I saw you have an eBosser, my husband bought me one off HSN (like QVC)here. We have QVC here, but they quit selling any kind of craft items. I think I'm really going to love it, but haven't gotten to play much with it.
CraftySuetoo, yes, I really enjoy hearing everyone's stories, and learning new things about how other people around the world live. My husband was a missionary kid, born in Brasil, his parents were American, who ran an orphanage there. So our married life has been one of blended cultures. I'm just a simple country Texas girl from a small town. We met when he came here to go to the University. He's a big soccer (I know, he calls it "football", too) fan. He still referees, even as a grandpa.
Tres, what a wonderful menagerie of furr babies you have. They make life so much more interesting, don't they? For years we had horses, a wonderful special cat, and my sweet loving shelties. The horses have gone to my daughter's house. She was the main rider, along with her dad. I would only trail ride, but I do miss them so. We lost the others all last year, different reasons and times, but it was traumatic. My husband who was not a cat person at all, cried like a baby when she died.
Margaret someday I hope to have more furbabies, but waiting for the right time.
Alimecca, so sorry about your aunt, will say a prayer for her. Cancer is such an awful thing.
Norah, I'll have to let my Nora know she is the English Nora. I appreciate all the info you share and the stories about everyone. It is very easy to understand the comfort gained from friends on here when you are limited in activities. I know I can only take so much TV watching, and if I can't craft or make things, I get cabin fever.
Sandra, and everyone really, thank you for such a kind welcome. I'm sorry if I go on too much, but it's nice getting to know ya'll. I've wondered if there is a place I could see photos of the projects you've done with all of Sue's fabulous products? Is there a gallery for this blog?
Also, Sandra and Anonymous , thank you for sharing what sloes are. Never heard of anything like it around here. We do have elderberries which they make a delicious homemade wine with, but it would be interesting to try the gin you mentioned someday. Not often a drinker, but an occasional taste is good.

Txcowgirl said...

Part 2
Barbara, good the hawks didn't get your friends little dog. Not sure what kind of hawks we have here, but you see them all the time, even in town. No one I've talked to had ever seen such a thing. I guess if the doggy is small enough they will take a chance.
Craftynanna and Norah, thanks for explaining a Close. I think it is what we call an alley.
Hope I didn't miss anyone. I read all the comments a little at a time during the day, responding not always in order. Everyone have a great evening. My friend Nora, and two others are coming over to play cards with me, and I'm so looking forward to some company. We usually play several times a week, but I haven't been able to this past week. You don't realize how much you miss something until you can't do it.
Ya'll take care now, hear?!
