Christmas Double Day

Happy Double day!  It's two Christmas cards today.  For this first card, I selected kraft card for the top portion and stamped it with the beautiful Justrite Snowflake stamp using a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed the images in white embossing powder so they would pop.  I very lightly sponged the edges of the kraft card with Black Soot Distress ink.  I stamped my sentiment in black on coconut white card and cut it on the diagonal to create interest.  I wanted  to infuse some colour into the card so I picked the Creative Expressions red grosgrain roses and adhered them across the diagonal cut as a border.  I cut several of my Faux Quilled Leaves in white and added them all around the roses as accents.  I finished the card with a black mat to set it off, then a pierced white mat with a thin red layer and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4". Scroll down for card no. two.

Card number two is a bit more subtle.  I used some French Navy card and embossed it with the Couture Creations folder called A Magical Time.   Once embossed, I used some Brushed Pewter Distress stain on a piece of cut 'n dry foam to lightly run the top of the embossing to bring out the wording a bit more.  I stamped the Snowflake Labels Seven by Justrite on to Vintage silver card using a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with Silver Shine detail powder for a tone on tone look and cut it out with the matching die.  I stamped the smaller stamp in the set on coconut white card and embossed it in silver and cut it out as my sentiment.  I mounted the two together with foam and placed them on the lower portion of my background.  I cut two differing sizes of my Faux Quilled Blooms in white and added them to my card, including a pearl for the centres.  The upper corner of the background is adorned with a pearl star/snowflake.  I finished the card with some matting and layering using silver and white and a pierced white layer to frame it up nicely.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 8 1/4".  Whether your personal taste runs more towards the flashier card on top or this more traditional number, I hope you will find something that you like in the post.  All for now, Sue x

Physio going well, have to see GP tonight to get swelling checked.

Once in Robbie,s site, go ino journal, at end of Mary's message, go into comments and you then get a message box, click post to leave the message, just like Sue,s blog. I will pass on your hugs though, thanks for trying.
Alison, where is the craft shop in Durham? I am only about 30 mins from Durham, when I can drive again.
Hope everyone is feeling stronger today and have a good day. Steph you really do sound so much better.

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, oh lovely 2 for the price of 1 today, I love both of the cards today, but as to my favourite well I really can't make up my mind so they are both equal. I especially like the way you have done the sentiment focal element in the 2nd card, you can't beat a bit of embossing to bring it out can you, and on the first I love the way the petal die is used with the red flowers, stunning. I am trying to get my hubby to take me to Ally Pally, I have a mobility scooter so it is not easy for me to get anywhere but he is not being persuaded. Pam hope the Dr. says the swelling is getting better, hugs to Robbie. Anyway have a great day everyone. hugs, Keep safe, healthy and happy, June Smith xxx

Oooh a two-fer today, Sue, like them both but think prefer the softness of the second one and love the pearly snowflake. Didn't see y.day's video until late and have got used to the big chop now!!

'P' in Wales

It's a 'Big 0' for me today - one that you definitely don't want to get to, but nevertheless thankful to see! Himself had his birthday this week - we have four days of being the same age, but then he reverts to toy boy again. Not celebrators as no family around, but I do have two cardmaker cousins who always send fabulous creations, always eagerly anticipated and a lot to live up to!

A double gift and what a treat this morning. I have to admit to liking the more traditional gift but can see that the kraft/red/white gift can be used for other occasions by just changing the background.

P in Wales - A HAPPY BIRTHDAY have a lovely day. The numbers don't count but if they have to just do what my Wonderful Mr.E does he has stayed at 29 and some months for donkey years. So much so that he has to stop and think when his 'real life' age is needed.

Sandra - Stay strong - you're such a determined young lady. Are your two wonderful girls off back to school this next week? Am all unpacked and sorted so just have to set too now and start C.cards in ernest.

So it's Friday (and no beautiful market or pastries) in site. Just normal housework - oh how I hate that word. I just need one of those wonderful 'Dobbies' from Harry Potter and I promise to care for him but not clothe him!!!

Hope everyone is looking forward to the week-end and feeling somewhat fitter. Take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,
What great inspiration both cards send us Sue. No.1 with the border of red ribbon roses would need to be for someone very special indeed, but the kraft card would need to be changed for something else, perhaps even dare i say black would make it stunning, and Sue you know i would normally go with the fine touch of black. The blue and silver is lovely as well and although i don't have this folder, i could probably use another to gain the same sort of effect. Thank you Sue for some fabulous inspiration again as you just send our minds on a whirl with your beautiful treasures.
Pam flower, just how much damage did you do to that poor ankle that you still have the swelling now? I sincerely hope that you haven't done too much as you have been through so much getting this far. I know being good is boring but please try as we all want you back to full strength again. I ca get the site no problem, it's just finding the elusive Robbie that's the problem. I know he wants to hide from all us old biddies, but i promise not to try mothering him. McCluskey i get nothing, Robbie brings up 16 inc Team Robbie & Robbie's health report to name the 2 likely candidates because the others have names to them. I know, it's me being a bit thick. Try and be good pleasssseeeee.
A big Happy Birthday to both you "P" in Wales and Mr. "P" your toyboy. I still hope that you have/had a lovely birthday day. Does that mean you are 21 again with experience?
Janet(ecco), ha ha, i can just see Mr E. in my minds eye pondering on what his real age is. You know if your treat your Dobbie nicely, he wouldn't want to leave anyway.
Sandra, we had the same when it was up at Gleneagles with the racket that they were making. But it was the damage that all the protesters did to the shops at the retail park, next to their unofficial campsite. They totally wrecked the shops, stealing and all that lot. This was them demostrating about peace which i think was the real irony of the whole lot. The majority of them should have been locked up for vandalism and theft as it was only a few that were actually there for peace. Isn't it amazing how all the stops are pull when the President and other leaders set foot on our soil. But i hope that your hi note works for today flower and that you are feeling slighty better than yesterday.
I was stupid yesterday and no wonder i am pooped. I walked along to the lock up along the back lane yesterday because i needed wool and it was in the lock up. By the time i got back i was so sore and tired but knew that i needed to hoover, dust and other things before hubby came in. i think by the time i had finished everything i was about finished also. I also knitted the front of 1 cardigan, the sleeves of another and started a tammie, and i wonder why i can't see straight or think straight today, idiot that i am but i just wanted to show hubby that i can do things( still hoping for him to take me on a holiday,ha ha ha).
Sending hugs to Robbie, Leo and Sam and to all the fabulous people here,
Love and crafty hugs

Hi Sue,
Lovely festive designs. The first card would be perfect for a December birthday. It always looks strange when I have both floral/pretty birthday cards up as well as the winter themes of Christmas cards.

Hi Sue. Love these two Christmas cards. Particularly like the first one with the Kraft card, as I love Kraft card :-) Have a lovely day. Hugs to all xx

Hello Sue. I think we are exceptionally lucky to have you to provide inspiration for us. I love the second card with its great embossing folder and simple message. Love the first card too but find the red flowers a bit overpowering. Do like the snowflakes on kraft card though. Wonderful. xx Maggie (better without a bow)

Hi Sue and everyone! WoW a twofer, they are both absolutely gorgeous Sue however my favourite is the 2nd one because of the great EF. The roses on the first one taking over a bit but close up they are simply lovely.Thank you Sue for all your work. Dobbies ? I've got Dobbies garden centre around the corner where I live but what was it in H.potter ? I'm loving Ally pally but can't go this year, always found it to be more room than at other craft exhibitions so if you can work on your husband I'm sure you both would have a fab. day out, tiring but how lovely to see all the crafting thingies :-) I too need something for my small bits that goes everywhere so have been looking for a desk hoover ( like a little Henry maybe) that would be nice.Hopefully it stop my husband moaning when he found crafty bits all over the bed and floor Tihi Glad you had a nice day Brenda and managed to purchase some new dies, but it's it not difficult to choose which one you "need" to buy next ? Take care Pam,hope all went ok at the doc.wishes to Robbie. HappyBirthday P in Wales and a belated one to your"toyboy"! Warm hugs to my Wilsonette friends,
until tomorrow Take care!

Hi Sue,
Lovely Double Christmas! Like them both but first one just has the edge I think. Thank you for all the inspiration. It is so appreciated and so needed!
P in Wales - Happy Birthday - hope you're having a lovely day . You have made me smile and some suggestions about your age have been hilarious! I did like Steph's lecture about being at school!
Norah - sorry you having a bad day . You must take it easier you know - you know these lectures you give Pam - well you take care too, special lady! Sending hugs to you.
Saga over - table and chairs purchased! As Lindsay said we were going to be eating off the floor! Bought one with a clear thick glass top so it should look fairly modern - unlike us!!
Sandra - pleased you seem a happier bunny today! Hope you come to the right decision about your treatment! x
Sending love to everyone including, Sue and Mum, Anne, Lynne, Lindsay, Lynda, Tres - do hope you ok! Sending love to you. , Alison, Janet, TOB, Theresa , WheelyBad - are you ok? , Pam and Robbie, Norah and Rory, June, Heather T, Julie Laz .Frances, Sheila, Brenda L.

You're spoiling us Sue! Great cards, particularly love the white and kraft one as the colours go so well together.x

I do like the second card on todays blog, very much, but the first one wouldn't be my kind of card at all. I find all those red roses too OTT -and they certainly wouldn't go through the post unless very well wrapped !! Like most of us, i'm looking for designs that will go at the lower postage rates for Christmas this year. Isn't it sad that we have to restrict so many of our cards because of the postal prices.
Hugs Janet in Kent

Hi Sue, you certainly are giving us some unusual Christmas cards and spoiling us today with two for us to enjoy. The first one jumps up and demands attention doesn't it. I've never thought of using kraft card for Christmas cards but I have to say I love the way the snowflakes look on it.
The second one has won the day for me, the embossing is just superb and I love that shade of blue. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue,
Two very different cards but I think it's the second one for me. The roses on the first one are a bit too much for me I'm afraid. My favourite card so far has to be the one with the pine bough though ,I was so inspired by it that I just had to buy the die!
Sorry this is just a quick visit. Haven't even read through the comments yet. The only one I noticed was Pam - the craft shop in Durham, is really a lovely stall in the indoor market, but Susan who runs it has really done a good job & has demo days by Creative Expressions, Crafters Companions and had a bloke from Spellbinders last year but I can't remember his name. Very reasonably priced too! Sorry that I haven't had time to read the comments from everyone but this decorating is taking over. I promise I'll try harder tomorrow as I'm having the day off. Need to go to see my aunt and then chill out I think. Love to everyone Alison xxxx

Hope you had a happy big birthday P in Wales.

My new dies and embossing folder from birthday vouchers arrived today so maybe I'll get a chance to have a quick play with them on Saturday. Lots of birthday cards to make before I can start on C cards in earnest.

Take care everyone.

What stunning cards, I especially love the red and white one as I make my own roses with fabric/ribbon and I love making them so much a have a massive box of them in various colours textured ribbons and widths/sizes, I even did a video tutorial for everyone (a request)as they wanted to be able to make them themselves so I posted it on fb and yt, and that's the only reason why I do my tutorials to help at least one person that particular day, I love these cards they are so 'clean and crisp' looking, hugs, Vick xx
