Many Thanks

Hello everyone!  It's off to Napa Valley for this one (it's a lovely place in No. California, in case you wondered!)  I created the background for this card by simply using the California Background to emboss the design into a  piece of milk coloured card.  I inked through the die with Antique Linen distress ink to bring the pattern out a bit.  I decided to leave a wide border around the background, then add some mauve seam binding wrapped around opposite corners.  I tied a messy bow and added it to the lower left corner.  It matched perfectly with our lavender organza roses so I seated one in the middle of the bow with some twine and dried baby's breath.  I made two stick pins to match and added them to the bow.  For the focal element, I cut the Napa Valley die insert out of milk card, but used the larger cutting edge from the Basic Frames Set A. This gives you the pretty wider border around the die.   I inked it lightly with Shaded Lilac distress ink before removing it from the die.  I used the same cutting edge and cut a mat out of lilac card to add behind it.  I used mounting foam between the two pieces for dimension.  I stamped my sentiment using the Blue-Violet Archival ink pad and cut it out with the die centre from the Umbria set and inked it with Shaded Lilac as well.  I mounted it in the centre of my focal die with mounting foam.  I added a double milk coloured mat and used the pearl Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots all the way around the edge to create a frame.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Tina Eldridge!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue and early rising Wilsonettes, hope you managed to get some sleep !
Oooo Tina E. Would love to be a fly on the wall when you see your name : )
I know you feel a little 'low' right now so winning Wednesday's card couldn't come at a better time, congrats, and enjoy.
TOB - you were there for me, Im here for you.
CAM - up up and away hon. Have a perfect birthday, looking forward to that drink : ) check in at Manc airport yesterday was crazy and queue's leading outside the building - I hear its the busiest day for all major airports, but with your organisation skills, I bet you have it planned down to a T ! Have a fantastic time xx

What a lovely start to our weekend. Such a beautiful card (and if I hit and deleate V again instead of C i'll throw a wobbler) !! Id forgotten about embossing with dies - not that I've ever tried it, dont know how, but what an elegant background to sit a beautiful focal point on, maybe Napa Valley should be my next investment when I have a few pennies saved, yep, its a cert not a maybe.
Lots to do today to get ready for Sunday market, so I hope its a little cooler today as its SO uncomfortable having to hump heavy boxes around ! I must take 200+ cards, with gift bags and tags etc so when my kind friends here wish for a 'sell out' for me I smile and say "I wish my lovely ladies then I could treat myself to all Sue's set 1 dies and the new set" ! So its nice you wish me luck, and thank you, but imagin if I did 'sell out' lol WOW !
Well, thats me done. To any lovely ladies that dont feel so good, Im thinking of you amd hope you improve with the day.
Love you.

morning Sue
Thank you for the most beautiful gift today. I just love the gentleness of all you have used; even the main focal element which is quite a statement in itself appears very gentle sitting on a background of beautiful ebossing and that beautiful colour.
This is one that's definitely heading for my 'must do file' and I know just the person who would love to receive it.

Well my sisters I had a very long phone conversation (thank goodness for free calls lasting 30mins each call via my laptop with my eldest daughter last night - after 30 mins I just disconnect and then reconnect) - re her successes and not so - the squirrel who had been kept as a pet when found as a baby - is has been released - but he will not leave completely and has set up home in their gardens. The only thing is that when my daughter/son in law appear he runs straight for them and runs up their legs to sit on shoulders and then to bite! As she says you take them in; help them get better; give them care/bed/feed and then what do they do - they dive bomb you and then bite!!
The white pigeon has been released all fit and well; as has the two mallard ducklings. The five baby sparrows have also been raised and have now fledged and gone, so she has had a few success.
There have been one or two not so happy occasions losing one of their hens; a hedgehog who had been hit by a vehicle but on the other side of the coin she has now got in to care for:
five baby hedgehogs and three more ducklings .

It sounds something like Animal Hospital doesn't it.

Sandra - which motorway do you use after Paris on your way down to Spain? You may pass us nearer than you think.

Therese - welcome to our wonderful Wilsonette sisters.

Hope everyone is getting a little better day by day and if you've outings etc planned for this weekend hope everything goes well.

Take care and see you tomorrow.

A very pretty card today Sue, I must admit I always forget that you can use background dies to emboss. At the moment I am totally hooked on making square frames for my cards, using your idea of embossing first and then removing the dies that you don't need to cut, it works every time and I have made loads for my Christmas cards. Today's card is so pretty and I haven't had much success with seam binding...I think it is my lack of patience, but will persevere.
Have a lovely day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Oh what a pretty card you have made for our delight today Sue. I love the Napa die, it is such a pretty one and with the lilac ink through it just brings out all the pretty detail. I love the lilac with the white as it has created a beautiful combination. The organza rose and ribbon such finish it off with the wee touch of the beautiful stick pins. A++
Can i say BRILLIANT Tina, i am really happy for you flower, just wait until you get it home.
Teresa TOB, i am so pleased to see that you have come back to our family. There is a number of us that are in your boat and yes we have our down periods, but the special people on this blog are the rarest find in the universe. Their love and concern knows no bounds and they are a keen eyed bunch who notice when you are late, if you are ok and they really care. I am glad that you are going to give the friendship that is out there another chance. We can't sort things or be miracle workers but we can listen and try and empathize and try and help you. I am another one on morphine and a whole other load of tablets that just don't work a lot of the times, but trying to get something that works is like a lucky dip the now.
FANTASTIC news Cameeli, now go off and enjoy. Remember you are 21 again with experience so have a ball.
I thought it was Animal Hospital that your daughter was running, Janet? It is strange the things that change for us and lead us in different directions doing some good where ever we happen to be. Glad that she has been able to release her last infirmary patients.
Diane G, i am sad enough to still have my petticoats that i made because i was like the song says born too late. I loved the 50's and 60's dresses and being of proportions to fit that style i had to make it(born 66 you see). Have fun with your family.
Oh i hope your friend is better soon Anne. I know hats are not fashionable and it's those skip things but please the hat keeps the sun from striking the top of your head.
We are in the middle of a heatwave i think in the Costa de Glenochil and hubby is going for the record of cleaning out his garage with everyone elses things getting shoved as well, so i am away to check on the going out pile. So from a wonderful day up here at the Hillfoots i wish you all a great day. Good luck tomorrow Steph as you deserve it flower with your record amount of cards that you have made. Gentle hugs to all our fragile friends that need one for whatever reason and to young Robbie, come on son you can do it. We are all rooting for you here at Sue's blog,
Love and crafty hugs

Gorgeous! Well, Sue, I have finally decided on what dies to buy and placed my order with Joanna! Her savings on each one helped to go towards another one and I got it in before the end of July! Evening Sue and all my Wilsonette friends.

Sue, what a lovely card. Lilac... mmm! and the contrast with the little bit of the linen ink is something that I wouldn't immediately have thought of. I am another one who has forgotten about using the die to emboss too. I neeeed some seam binding- I've been saying it for years! the flowers and all the finishing touches are divine too.

Lancashire Steph I hope you sell out tomorrow and are able to get yourself a nice lot of dies!
TOB congrats on your scooter! Even out for a 'walk' with others is so nice. I was so pleased when I got my powerchair for the same reason.
Tandy, I'm glad you are out of hospital, fingers crossed all your tests have a good outcome.
Cameeli, I'm really pleased your test was positive, have a lovely holiday and birthday.
GeeBee I hope the doctors can help your mum and I'm soryy it's been a tough week.

Yup, I am lucky to have Mr. WheelyBad, although for many years we have joked that we are the only ones who could put up with each other! We both like our own space and can both be quite quiet. He has his own interests- he's a proper country boy so it works well.
He took me into town today. Just a short visit to get a few essentials and a stop for coffee and cake, it's pretty much wiped me out on all fronts and with the heat n' all I'm feeling it so off to bed soon.
Crafty hugs to all, I really can't write any more so just know I send positive, happy and caring thoughts to all of you.
