Black And White Birthday

Hi bloggers!  A black and white beauty for today's offering.  I started by doing some tone on tone stamping using the Floral Lace background by Justrite. I stamped it with a Clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it with black powder on black card.  I used the Vintage Tag die by Justrite to make an aperture in the centre.  This shape is actually drawn into the design so it just begs to be cut out!  I used the Heirloom Flourish One die and cut six of them and used them to edge my background piece so they are just peeking over the edge.  I stamped the matching stamp from the Home Bakery Labels set in black on coconut white card.  I mounted the background over this and lined it up in the aperture opening.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a small Vintage Labels Seven die and mounted it on foam pieces.  Using the Classic Rose die set, I made a flower out of coconut white card and "sugared" it with Iced Snow.  I seated my rose on a messy bow out of white seam binding and white tulle.  I finished the card with a double white mat with flatback pearls in the corners.  Finished dimensions are 6" x 7 1/4" in size.

I have a really big surprise for you tomorrow so please don't forget to pop by the blog as I am just dying to share it with you!!!!

morning Sue
from a very very wet and cold Burgundy. It's more like November here than July this week; so I'm hoping that you're all having a much better weatherwise week than we are here.
I love monochrome and today's gift just is a perfect sample of how it should look like. It also have the 'less is more' look to it and so today's gift is a big hit with me.
I really must do more stamping. It's one of those techniques where I think about it after I've embossed and started on other things and then I see your stamped backgrounds. Ah well will just have to make a note to myself to go with all the other written down notes because I cannot remember.
Good luck today Sue in North Yorkshire - I'm sure they will look after you very well. I'm so envious of all you Wilsonettes who are going to meet you. Perhaps one day will come my way.
Cameeli - It was obviously not your time and the job wouldn't have suited you. Everything happens for a reason and as you say there are other options.
'P' in Wales - It's a man thing isn't it. They just don't know when to throw the 'shuvvle' (that's our word in our house) away and just keep digging the hole bigger and bigger.
Gail - Nothing will help at the moment but in time things change. Hurts don't go away but they just change. My thoughts are with you all.
Hope everyone's OK. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Wow! what a striking looking card. After ten hours without power yesterday, we are back to normal. We really do rely on electricity for everything nowadays. Our friends made us a lovely lunch, so we didn't go without. I think I may try and replicate this card today. I have been making Christmas cards using the frame made with grand square labels that Sue demonstrated on tv by embossing before cutting and it makes it much simpler....thank you Sue. I cannot wait to hear the surprise !!!

Good Morning Sue & Friends,
Firstly Wow! I love monochrome and I also am a huge fan of 'Tone on Tone' stamping! So today's card is a real winner, love it.
Sue you are a real 'Tease' but it's working, you have piqued all of our interest ! We will be racing to check in tomorrow, I know what I am hoping for!
Cameeli, my dear you were too good for them anyway, you need a job that will let you stretch out your creative wings and soar! The right one will come along, as you so rightly put, you learn from the different process's and you are then a little more prepared for next time! What would you 'like' to be doing? Hugs to u & Mari x
Pam, so pleased Robbie had a restful night, that in itself is a really good sign, as he needs to repair 'mentally' too bless him, hugs to you both!
Gail, you will be in my thoughts tomorrow I know it's the hardest of things to go through, try and focus on the fact that he is pain free and happy xxxx
Janet I bet your chair covers look fab, you were obviously very restrained, I can't wait to do a bit of market stall browsing, although you have to be picky about the location of the markets in Spain as they range from lovely 'local produce' markets to really rubbish 'knock off' 'tat' markets, ironically those ones are always full of British tourists, the kind of people that have to have 'proper fry ups' at 'bob's British bar'!
I know it's each to their own, but when we are away we like to try and keep it local and authentic if possible!
Myra, how was your break?
Steph, I want you to know that your wise words reLly gave a 'lift' yesterday, I was having one of 'those days!'
Anyway, big hugs to all,
Sue and Julie enjoy your trip, looking forward to seeing the photos!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Now sure about todays card as it is a bit dark for me, not really an out and out black kind of a person but i have the ingredients (well almost all)so i could do it in lighter colours. Is that wee flourish the Becca Feeken design because i have it but don't if it's not.I fell in love with that wee flourish when i seen it as it is so delicate poking its wee head out from behind the black. OOOHHH i like surprises and by the sounds of it the rest of our family so as well,it's like waiting on Santa coming(and yes he does exist). I hope you are having lovely weather for traveling around the beautiful countryside that we are so lucky to have.
"P"in Wales, do you mean he still can speak. I loved your coral coloured top with your beautiful white hair, it just gave your face a beautiful glow to it and to have lost a stone and a half is absolutely fantastic.I have his brother here who thinks that i should be going around like mutton dressed as lamb...eh, not going to happen. I was old fashioned when we met and i'll stay old fashioned thank you very much.I like matching all the way down and wear a lot of twinsets and pearls.Kirsten's new mother is 2years older than me but is of a much younger mind set. Were you comfortable and did you feel good in what you wore that is all you need to ask yourself flower, because you looked good to us.
Pam, that is so good to know and that is the start of Mount Everest which Robbie will climb, just one step at a time. When you are back to being fit again there will be a Sue spectacular meant for you to be at, just concentrate on getting that foot better and what are you crafting the now as it would be an ideal opportunity to try an old hobby that you haven't had the time for or learn a new one from youtube as we don't want your brain going the same way as mine..AWOL.
Cameeli flower, the fact that it was with the council the post was most certainly taken before you applied, but they have to advertise & interview outside by law, so please don't worry about what you could have done better, the answer is nothing would have made any difference, but i am sorry that it wasn't meant to be.
Gail take deep breaths tomorrow and cry because your brother was part of your life not because he has gone, but because he was here and you were so very lucky to have him as a torment when you were small, a Sir Galahad, a pain in the upmost at times but a sweet caring lovely human being. These are the times that you cry for and remember as it these that are going to get you, your mum, his wife and family all through tomorrow and when that is over you have more friends than you can shake a stick at here for you for when you need that understanding.
Well Clare W i think we are a just a Family of Wilsonettes and the best at that.
Legs are on strike today so it will be a day at the dining table and crafting. Thank goodness my furniture is solid and heavy as it is one of those days that i need it to be just to get around. Never mind it is an absolutely gorgeous day up here in sunny Glenochil so the door is open out the back for Tia to go in and out as she pleases.
Sending gentle hugs to our more fragile of friends that are in need of them for one reason or another and i hope the sun can shine from inside out for everyone today.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

I love black and white monochrome, although I have never actually made a card with this colour combo as I am unsure that any of my family or friends would like it. Maybe I should just be a bit more adventurous and just go for it !! I have this justrite background stamp but have not used it yet as I keep meaning to buy the vintage tag die to go with it but just end up getting distracted and buying another Sue Wilson die instead !! This card is really beautiful Sue and it is now on my "to have a go at" list !! The heirloom one die has been on my list for a very long time and is still, in my opinion one of those essential must have dies. As always your beautiful sugared Rose is gorgeous !!
I have just finished a card for my Mum's birthday this weekend. I have to make two cards for my Mum and Dad each year. One from me and hubby, and the other from either Dad to give to Mum or vice versa !! The one I have made for Dad to give Mum is your Spanish Rose card from your video using and cutting down your beautiful Cordoba die. I did not have a dainty dots background folder so I used your heart lattice folder instead and the middle focal square fitted perfectly and looks beautiful, as if it was made to measure !! I am very pleased with it and think Mum will love it !! The other card that I am still making is your last video from the other day the striplet background card (white with a touch of pastel green, Mums favourite colour.) I just hope I can finish it in time. ( I am still waiting for the delivery of the Tuscany die !! ) I am dreadful for leaving things to the last minute !!
Well I cannot wait until tomorrow now to find out what the surprise is !! I really hope it is your new dies. ( I have not finished collecting all of your first set of dies yet !! ) I can't wait for tomorrow now.
Have a great time today Sue, and Julia to. Stay safe and take care. Love and hugs from Tres x x x

Pam, I am so glad Robbie is able to get a good nights sleep now. It is such an important part of the healing process, allowing the body to start to recover and begin to heal itself. I hope you are getting on ok to. Lots of love to you both from Tres x x x

Cameeli, I am sorry you did not get the job. It is their loss. You are to good for them !! I am sure there is something better out there just waiting for you. Lots of love to you from Tres x x x

Gail. My heart goes out to you and your Mum. Wishing you lots of love for tomorrow. I will be thinking of you both. Sending you big gentle hugs love Tres x x x

To all the wonderful Wilsonettes, sending love and hugs to all today. Have a good day everyone love Tres x x x

Hi Sue, well today you have won me over. Black on white has never been one of my favourites but todays card has changed all of that. I really love this one and will have to have a go myself. Thank you also for giving me the idea of how to use an edge die that has been just sitting around in my box. Can't wait for tomorrow and your news Beryl xx

Such an elegant card Sue and it's given me other ideas too as I'm also thinking that by changing the colour of the background card it would completely change the mood for this card and by using cream or ivy would be such a pretty wedding card. The Heirloom Flourish Die is one of the top must haves on my wish list at the moment, I'm saving all my pennies for next week so I hope craftworld are going to be well stocked. Ooh I love surprises :) :) :) is it anything to do with your new range of dies??? Can't wait till tomorrow. Thanks Sue for sharing your work and for being my inspiration to try new and different things. Looking at your cards always sets my creative mind working and usually results in my wish list getting bigger and bigger lol. Annie xXx

GA ALL - further to my earlier comment I've had some thoughts on a collective noun for us Wilsonettes - whilst researching I came across coven(!!), bevy, troupe, posse and gaggle which led me to think a Waggle of Wilsonettes?... - waggle meaning to move or cause to move with short quick movements from side to side or up and down - dont think a groups of anything else is called a waggle unless you know different? and I quite like the idea of that uniqueness - likey or no likey?...

Strangely I have most of the dies and stamp for this one so I could actually give it a try myself, although it will probably not turn our the same as yours, they never do, do they? Nice though just the same.

Oh you are awful Sue, you do like to tease us. Hurry up tomorrow. Hope you both are having a great time up in Northallerton, and they made a big fuss of you both. Glad that Robbie has had a great nights sleep Pam, and that your leg is getting slowly better. Cameeli this job was not for you, as it was for the council they probably had the person they wanted anyway. Something better will come along for you, as you are such a lovely person. Glad your hills are alive today Norah, but sorry to here that your legs aren't behaving themselves. Hugs to you Norah, Steph Pam and Robbie. Glad to read tour post today Sandra.
