Twinkly Background Card

Hi crafters!  It's so sparkly, isn't it?!  I really had to resist the urge to add anything to it, as I felt it really needed a white and silver poinsettia on it.  However, I really wanted to show off this background from the show so I was good and didn't do anything more to it!  I started with the Retro Sparkle background stamp from Justrite and stamped it on to our Cobalt Blue card using a clear Perfect Medium.  I heat embossed it with Silver Shine embossing powder, then covered the entire piece with a sticky double sided adhesive sheet.  I then covered the entire piece with Iced Snow and burnished it into the background, creating a really twinkly background for my card.  Next, on coconut white card,  I stamped the Vintage Labels Seven shapes from the set which is called Snowflake Vintage Label Seven by Justrite and embossed them with silver shine as well.  I cut them out with the matching die and used Chipped Sapphire distress ink while still in the die.  On the smaller die cut, I stamped my sentiment in the centre using the Cobalt Blue Archival ink pad.  I mounted the two die cuts up with foam in between and on the back and added them to the centre of my background.  You do, however, need to add some Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue to the foam on the back before attaching it to the Iced Snow since it is a sort of glitter product the foam does not want to stick without glue!  I used my piercing ruler to add a pierced framed layer of coconut white card, then added a thin blue mat and a final white mat to complete my card.  The finished dimensions are 6" x 7" in size.

I am going to give you a sneak peek at a few of the samples for Sunday's Toolshed show so be sure to check back tomorrow and Sunday morning for those!  All for now, Sue x

Beautiful card Sue, love it. My new dies arrived yesterday, so gorgeous, just cant get to my ebosser yet, still I can stroke them.
Thank you Norah for the offer of the knitting needles, not at the itchy staage yet, just very cumbersome. Oh well, just another 3 weeks to go (if it has healed) and then I may get a cast that I can stand and walk with.
Dawn and Tres, hope you are feeling a little better today.
Love & hugs to all who want/ned them.

morning Sue
Today's gift is really really sparkly and for me the background is a little on the dark side but I'll be trying it with a paler blue. I love the simplicity of the format for today and however did you stop yourself from adding a little seasonal flower?

I'm hoping to catch some of sunday's shows but here it's a lottery re signal strength so fingers are crossed.

Steph - my experiment with eboss etc worked just fine so thank you for the tips.

Norah and Wheely Bad T - at least he had some sense which really surprised me that when I had to have my right knee replaced for a second time he didn't ask the consultant surgeon for the old one for scrap. I was fully expecting that - he sometimes forgets that not everyone has the same sense of humour as his.
Good luck for today.

The weather here is absolutely beautiful sunshine wall to wall again.
Hope everyone is OK and if you have any plans for the weekend fingers crossed they all come together.
Take care and see you tomorrow.

Love the twinkle!

Been playing with the tethered heart strip let (Steph - one of my purchases in craft heaven) it is a real beauty and a lot bigger than it appears on the blog.

Girls may I share a few tips as far as him in doors is concerned regarding crafty stash!

1. You have always had it ages whatever it may be!

2. Encourage their latest mid life crisis ideas they ended up spending a fortune and then say "well you can't talk about what I have spent when you spent £x on their latest toy. My other half taken up cycling more tweedledum than Bradley wiggins if you ak me! Has spent a fortune so I am now completely justified and even better when he goes out for a day cycling I say oh will need some cash for whatever and buy crafty stash!!

3. Become Postmans best friend me and Johnny the postman - now on first name terms have an "arrangement" my parcels are hidden in paper recycling bin with a nod and a wink and a Christmas gift!

4. If desperate do what my Mum used to do ( her habit was clothes from M and S). When we got home I always carried bags in as if they were mine and then hid them in her wardrobe! Then she'd always had said clothes "for ages"!

Well girls happy shopping and crafting. Steph has introduced me to a local shop that is heaven in craft land so may have to visit again for more bounty that I have had " for ages"!!!

Happy crafting xxx

Morning Sue and everyone,
Didn't get much sleep last night as we had a terrific thunderstorm, the thunder was deafening and incredible lightning, but at least the garden got some well needed rain. The problem being my eight stone dog, a Russian Ovcharks decided she would hide from it on our bed, something she has never done before and kept trying to bury herself under the duvet and being so big there wasn't much room left for us!!! A lovely sparkly card today Sue, but I think I would have succumbed to adding a flower to it with some holly swirls, but that is me, I never know when to stop.
Have a good day everyone and take care.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
WOW i love today's card Sue as it reminds me of a crisp winters night when the stars are full in the sky and the brightest one above mums house, well that is my daddy you see and i just feel that he is closest most at that time of the year(it's ok, they are still out searching for my brain) but your card is so beautiful today. I think i would have struggled to keep the poinsettia off the card as well, it would have looked beautiful on it. Make one with and one without and you please both sides of your self.
Pam, you haven't so long to go now with the heavy one, but the extra long knitting needles are there if you need them. I hope that Master Robbie is behaving himself and putting in all that he can muster into getting out of that bed and back to his feet. You can do it Robbie, you just have to have some faith and plenty of determination. Sending hugs to both of you Pam.
Desiree P, looking up C&C website for Sunday as the infantry is up for Toolshed and the dies are Sue's first set of babies to come.
That's great news Nanna Tina, you will hopefully be back up at full strength soon.
Sam flower, if going through step by step lets you know what to do, then you carry on as we all have our own system of trying to get it through all the wool, sorry brain matter upstairs in our heads. It's probably only me that has wool upstairs in mine.
Happy Birthday wee Sandy, you'll be starting the school this year and be a big boy. I hope you have lots of fun today.
Yes Janet(Ecco) you have to have been in contact with someone with your hubby's/my daddy's sense of humour to appreciate it and get the fact that they are joking. Until you said about hubby, we always thought dad was a one off, i am so glad to see that his sense of humour is someone else's as well, so thank you and him for bringing a very big smile to my face.
BarbiePinkFairy, i too am on first name terms with my postman and he is new but learning fast. I can't believe that there is someone as devious on the blog as well as me. The things you have to do just to get some happiness and that is what that wee piece of metal is, hours and hours of happiness. And lets face it i don't drink, smoke, go out well except to the craft shows twice a year, so i think it is a small price to pay for the contentment that it brings. All those in favour say AYE.
Awh Dawn, the poor baby was petrified and needed protection from the bad noises and sky that he needed mum and dad to save him. My Tia, starts shaking to bits at that and the fireworks and having a 36kilo lab on top of me is murder. If i was able to walk beforehand i sure wasn't afterwards, so get a bigger duvet and it will make all the difference to everyone and dog.
Well it is going to be a slow action day today as i think i am in one of those movies that they slow the film down for only they could film me at top speed today and get the same footage. From a beautiful bar windy day(great washing weather day) i will bid you all have a great day and i will see you tomorrow hopefully. Sending gentle hugs to all that need them,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Well, this is gorgeous and blingy but it is showing quite dark on my screen and I'm with a few of the other ladies in that I think a poinsettia or bow, or both, might lighten it up. Of course, in real life it's probably a show stopper without any of them!
Barbiepinfairy - I have a friend who gets all her craft stuff delivered to my house so that her husband doesn't know what she is buying. Of course it's all mine and George believes every word. In fact I've told him that I'm expecting a delivery for her any day and he's to keep an eye out for it!!!
I'm really on to a winner as he cannot use a computer so will never read this, ha ha.
ALSO, my tip for new clothes is when I'm ironing after washing I "pretend" to iron a new item of clothing and hang the coat hanger up with the other things to air on the clothes horse. When I do wear the item he usually says "I've always liked you in that!!! Devious or what? I think I must be evil ha ha.
Norah - AYE.
Well ladies I hope you all have the best day that you can. Me, I'm in seventh heaven as the school hols start today so I can have some lie ins and not have to clock watch. Roll on 6 pm when my daughter or son-in-law come in from work. Crafting here I come.
Sue, see you Sunday

Hi Sue. Gorgeous card, I love the colbat blue, it is perfect for this sparkly frosty stamp. The card is great as it is for the men/non flowery ladies or with a beautiful poinsettia or a large snowflake maybe for those that like more on a card, wonderful : ) Only 2 sleeps now, sure you are busy getting ready for the show rather than getting a little rest after your busy time in Scotland ! : )
Pam and Robbie, sending my daily hugs to yo both : )
Norah, I hope your hills are clear and sunny and you get the washing done. (I agree with you about the people who go up the hills unprepared. If they were charged a large amount when they needed rescuing they might think twice about being so selfish and stupid! Sorry for the rant but they make my blood boil.)
Wheelybad, you won't see this till after your op but I will be thinking of you : )
Tina, glad that you are improving a little : )
Sending hugs to yo Sue, my special friends and all in need. Take care.

Hi Sue.
You're so right really sparkley. Love it. I do think I would have put a poinsettia on too but can understand you wanted to show the background.
I'm definitely going to give it ago. I love ice snow. It goes so far too. I wasn't expecting it to last as long but it does. I'm currently trying to finish a couple of wedding keepsakes. Seems to be taking so much time.
Back to it I suppose. Lots of crafty love for the weekend to you and our blog family.

Hi Sue,
What a lovely card! I bought the stamp but haven't had time to get into Christmas just yet! I think the starry sky is just beautiful! Looking forward to Sunday' Shows. Rather breezy here today but thank goodness as otherwise would be unbearably hot!
My friend called round this morning and she brought her bitty bow dies to show me - they are lovely! She liked my daisies and Innsbruck dies. One of the first things she said as she came in the door was - "oh have you seen Sue's card today - its gorgeous!"
Pam - in my newspaper today it says Hartlepool will be warmer than Hawaii . Hope you enjoy the good weather without getting too hot in your plaster. Love to Robbie .
Sandra - I do like the little message from Bella and Milo! Enjoy having your girls at home now for the hols.
Lindsay - phew! That's a lot of hay. Take care. Hope you get it all in safely before the weather changes.
Love to Tres, Lynne, Alison, Steph, Julie, Lynda, Gail,
Tina and all other friends on the blog! Have a good day.
Love Myra
Norah - Aye!
Anne - Happy 5th Birthday to little Sandy! Hope you have a fun day!
Wheelybad - thinking of you and hope everything goes really well and that you get home very soon!

Hi Sue

Love the back ground, reminds me of our first winter we moved into our home here in Salisbury. We had a covering of snow, and decided to go for a walk about 11pm. The sky was the same colour as your card and the stars were amazing, and the light from the moon looked exactly the same as your card on the snow it really sparkled, what a memory. Thank you.

Hi Sue

Long post but a lot needs saying!

Thankfully I am home, very, very sore and even more medicated!

Ladies you don't know how much your humour and kind words have helped today, From when I was nervous this morning, to when I got back this afternoon, put the blog on and promptly fell asleep! To now, when I need a distraction, Parm Hartlepool, Janet ecco, P in Wales, Alison, Mrs B, Brenda Lello, June Yorkielass, Gail, Myra P and Lancs Steph- Who made me laugh, I think I'm being WheelyGood and doing as I'm told! Thank you all, sending hugs, good Karma and good Crafting to you all!!!

I've had to be so careful though reading all your husband related sneakiness and not laughing to hard ladies! Barbiepinkfairy, Norah and I'm sure many others! I am also on first name terms with my postie, it might help that my father is one of his managers! Postie Wayne takes back my parcels if I'm not in and gives them to him to either bring round or Wayne brings them next day, he's often dropping off notes or cards from my father, he loves Billy as Billy's is one of the few dogs on the rounds who doesn't want to bite him. I always know when he's coming as Billy waits every morning at the window and tells me when Wayne is a few houses away so we can go and say hello to him. The parcel drivers for Royal Mail and Hermes know us well too now! Norah, I don't drink, smoke, go anywhere either so my crafting is as much therapy as hobby as it is for a large proportion of us Wilsonettes and for crafters in general. I really believe the NHS should introduce it in pain clinics, OT services, hand physio and for mental health illnesses. I'd include wood work, metal work etc as well. I think by now without it I'd be depressed, less positive and my hands would be so much worse than they are. Blogs like this help us learn, keep us motivated when we can't craft and inspire us- Sue is the best medicine!

Heavy dogs- Billy is a lightweight 30kg! He isn't scared of thunder, fireworks or gun noise as he's grown up across the road from a field that uses crow scarers- but is super clingy and protective. I got him a special Shirt that calms Thunder and noise fear specifically and anxiety and excitability. Quite pricey but been worth every penny and cheaper than lots of dog appeasing pheromone.

Tina, glad you're out of bed, don't push too hard and put yourself back there by overcrafting! Hope you're back to your best soon.

Lindsay, glad you rescued well over half your bales from the rain. If you get sun like we've had they'll soon dry out, fingers crossed for you.

Margaret O, I cannot imagine how you feel but sending hugs to both you and your sister.

Pam, hope your feeling stronger by the day, and love for Robbie of course.

Well I've prattling on for ages, and going back correcting the spelling has made it take much longer so I'll wrap up. This blog and all the kind and entertaining people on it have helped so much today, thank you...

and last but not least- our Sue! I Love this card, the building blocks of this I plan to get over the next few months. The star background I think is a year rounder- I see little boys' cards with aliens, space men and space ships! I love poinsettias so what I'd do is do another same again with the the stamp, glitter and background, then a bunch of poinsettias in one corner and a smaller die cut and sentiment in the opposite corner- two cards, best of both worlds! I'll be watching from bed Sunday on my computer! I promise!

Beautiful pink sky outside, sun reflecting on the gathering clouds.

Crafty hugs to all :-) and thanks again,

T xxx
