Tied Together

Hello blog friends!  You may be wondering what the title of this post has to do with anything, but it is the name of the embossing folder that I have used here.  If you recall, I said that there had been a mix up with the embossing folders from the last show.  I thought that this one was to have been one of the products, but it was delayed.  Well it is finally here!  For this card, I stamped my sentiment and then scored a line above and below it.  I used the Tied Together folder and embossed the area below the line first, leaving the top half out of the folder.  Then I embossed the area above the line, leaving all of the rest of the card out of the folder and off the end of the base plate so that it would not be flattened.   I used the Cosmic Shimmer Gold PVA glue to make dots at every intersection in the embossed piece and I set this aside to dry well.  I wanted to be able to see the dots from below the ribbon so I had to do them first and allow them sufficient time to dry.  I attached a piece of ribbon across the front of the card then I tied a big double bow using the champagne coloured frilly edged ribbon and attached it to the front with a glue dot.  I find this easier to do than to tie the bow from the ribbon that I have wrapped around a card and I can usually get the bow to sit the way that I want this way too.  Using a piece of decorative card from Graphic 45, I cut a spiral flower and attached it to the centre of the bow.  The rest of the card was matted and layered with gold metallic cardstock to match the PVA dots and cream card.  I did a bit of piercing on the edge to frame the card.

I have included a few close ups for your perusal too.  I think this would be lovely in a white on white format for a wedding card too, just using the pearl PVA instead of the gold and a simple  change of sentiment.
If you have not tried any of the Cosmic Shimmer Pva glues, they are a sheer joy to use and I think they add so much extra to a card.  I highly recommend them (but I'm biased! LOL)  I hope you like today's choice for the blog.  All for now, Sue x

Accomplished, Commendable, Exemplary, Exquisite and Laudable - synonyms of the one word that says it all 'Perfection'.
Sue you have created the perfect framework to a perfect quotation.

This is gorgeous Sue, beautiful embossing folder and your bow is fab. Apologies for my lack of comments, have been travelling to spend winter in Spain. Unfortunately I couldn't see your latest shows either, hubby still working on the satellite connection. I agree with the comment about you having a weekly show, it would be brilliant but at least you post daily so we can have our 'SUE' fix.

What can i possibly say that i have notalready said before, i absolutely adore this card, the basic (but its not) concept would work for so many occasions and just changing the sentiment and colour makes it a card for all seasons.

Sue, saw this demonstration on C&C, a simple format but perfectly executed. Such an elegant embossing folder, and the un-embossed area shows the sentiment off so well. The cosmic shimmer pearls are so effective. A card that can be adapted for so many occasions. Love it.

A classic looking card - the bow deservingly gets the attention. I'd love to use that cosmic shimmer glue for dots but I would probably make a mistake and spoil the card. Its a clever product though because you can do the dots on a piece of plastic or your craft mat and pick them up when they are dry - Unfortunately I don't have the patience but its a more foolproof method cos you just transfer them on to your card without any mess. The new embossing folders are so nice - I ordered them and can't wait to use them. I suppose everyone is busy with preparations for Xmas - my husband is in hospital so I really don't have the heart for it at the moment but hoping and praying he will come out next week. Hope we see you again soon Sue - haven't seen all the shows but I recorded them and look forward to watching all the demos when I have time.

Hi Sue - FANTATIC!! ELEGANT!! CLASSY!!! Watched you make it on your show yesterday - but I am devastated, I said yesterday I had ordered the folder the evening before with a couple other items - that was the evening the on-line to C&C was not working correctly - so phoned up and ordered - but I was not happy with the way the conversation had gone...so to double check I called again yesterday to confirm my order and they said they had no record of it!!! By this time of course all stock was gone - so I am not getting it!!!! You can imagine how upset I feel - so now have to try and find it somewhere else - why don't you start an on-line shop!!! I have just caught up with my stockpile of recorded sue card demos ;) and this one was on there, its so simple, yet so effective! To anonymous above who missed out, there is a link on Sue's site to Sam Poole (look in the blog list in the right hand panel), she has a little online shop with a few things including embossing folders, but not sure she has this design. She does have lots of lovely ribbons, and stamps!

Hello Sue, Difficult to say anything that hasn't already been said about this card! Exquisite - did anyone else say exquisite? yes, I think they did - exquisite and very elegant and one I'll definitely try to do something like. (I thought Golden Wedding too, but TimeOut2Create thought of that first.) I was just thinking the tied together background is going give me rather a lot of practise with the cosmic shimmer dots when Lilygee's post reminded me about making them on the craft mat first - thank you for that Lilygee and I hope your husband will be home for Christmas too. Thanks again for the shows Sue, I hope you've had a rest today. Sue x
PS Just opened the door to get a log for the woodburner and the snow is settling outside ...
