Miss You

Hello there my crafty friends!  Today's card started with a piece of slate grey card and I embossed it with the 3D folder called Sublime Swirls.  Next I used some Silver Dreams gilding polish over the top of it.  I also used the Enchanted Gold gilding polish on parts of it to give a two tone shimmery effect.  I cut the Ivy Garden Background piece and used two of the ivy corners from it, adding a light bit of gold polish to the edges of the leaves before gluing them in opposite corners/  I cut the Flora die out of milk card and added gold gilding polish to it as well.  I glued 3mm cream pearls in all the flower centres then added it to the middle of the card with foam. I cut the middle of the Ivy Garden Background in milk card and backed it in milk and added it to the centre of the Flora die.  I cut a couple of the Miss You mini expression out of slate grey card and stacked them together then glued them to the centre of the card.  Milk and Slate Grey mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good Morning Sue. I love this card Sue. And the Embossing is beautiful. I have not used the polishes yet.... not quite confident enough and I would have to see a tutorial first. But I would love to create this. And my favourite lady Flora is there in all her glory. Beautiful. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

Fab card design! Not overly keen on the colour combination, not sure about the dark masculine colour of the background with the lovely delicate die cut in the centre but hey we all can't love the same things. Debra x

Hi Sue. I love everything about this sample. Your photos show beautifully how 'powerful' this folder can be for a male's card but equally pretty and elegant with a colour change or mixed media change or technique change to use for a female's card. I don't have much of an artistic eye but I'm thinking that maybe with a delicate letterpress technique with some delicate bling, this folder could work as a wedding/anniversary background ? Anyway all in all its a stunning samples.
I hope all our overseas blog family had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday and if you couldn't be together that you spoke with each other and those like a few of us here spent personal times thinking of the wonderful mother that shared your life.
Have a lovely sunny happy day. Isn't it lovely what the sun does to lift spirits and mind ☺ xxx

Not sure about the grey colour Sue, maybe the photo doesn’t do it and the polish justice, but I love the card as a whole. The flora die is one of my many favourites. Thank you, have a good day. Xxx

Not so keen today Sue, think it may just be the colours that don't appeal as I love both the floral and ivy leave dies.

I am in two minds about this. Whilst I like the design I am not so sure about the colour thought it might just be that it doesn't show well on my iPad.

What a surprise! Where did this Sublime embossing folder come from? And who would figure that a card done in slate gray and milk could be so beautiful? You, apparently! Thank you for showing the rest of us.

Please add my vote to those hoping to see a tutorial on applying two colors of gilding polish to an embossed surface. My guess is that you rub in little circles from one side in one color and then from the opposite side in the second color.

That is such a stunning EF!

And I can't believe you put little pearls on each of Flora's flowers the very next day after you put little glue dots on the end of each twig on three sets of Meandering Twigs.

I might have searched for a different corner than those two from the Ivy Garden. They don't seem to hold their own in the waves created by the Sublime Swirls. Maybe an Atlantic Ocean corner could ride them out.

Anyway, what a surprisingly beautiful card!

Best to all,

Donita

Hi Sue, a very striking card. The background with your Sublime Clouds 3D embossing is a big hitter, the first thing I notice.

Dawn Holben said...

I love the style of this card, the embossing and that gorgeous die but
it is a little to grey for me. It is probably just me saying this as i am not really a grey person lol x

Fluffycat said...

Hi Sue, the Sublime Swirls 3D embossing folder certainly makes a statement but gorgeous Flora is really holding her own. I do use grey card, usually as an accent, but I think with the embossing and gilding I may now use it in other ways. My stuffed animals are coming out to play today as my friend has just had her third grandson (secretly I think she was hoping for a granddaughter) but I've seen a picture and he is gorgeous.

Clear blue skies and warm sunshine here today and I hope everyone else is enjoying the improvement in the weather.

Wonderful card. I am so glad I bought this embossing folder although I have not used it yet. I tore up my trusty Vagabond using a 3D embossing folder (another brand) recently so am a bit hesitant. My fault entirely but could not find or get help with the sandwich for the folder. I have a Gemini and this will surely work like a CC 3D folder in it.This is a beautiful folder and love your tip to use the two metallic gilding polishes.
Hoping a beautiful day for all,
