Happy Mother's Day

Hi crafters!   Better late than never! LOL  I just found this one with a Mother's Day sentiment, but imagine it with a happy birthday or even a get well sentiment!  I just couldn't let it go without a blog appearance, now could I! LOL  I started by creating a letterpressed background.  I inked up the Art Deco Shells embossing folder with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink and placed a piece of milk card inside the folder.  The ink was then transferred onto the floor of the design on to the card as it passed through the die cutting machine.  Next I cut the Springtime Frame and used small smoothies to ink the die cut.  I used Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks.  I added small pearls to the flowers too.  I cut the backing piece out of milk card and added the frame to the centre of the background with mounting foam.   I cut the sentiment that comes with the frame and inked it to match using Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and glued it to the centre of the frame.   I tied a messy bow with cream satin ribbon, adding a pearl to the knot and added it to the side of the frame.  Milk mats and layers were used to complete the card,  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. It's been donkeys years since I had a bash at letters pressing and it went part shaped so never tried again, I was really new to crafting so I can be excused, but now I'm not so new and got the best tutor ever it's time to buy some oxides, wait for my new folders to arrive at the shop then have another bash, if it works as beautifully as this I'll be chuffed. Wasn't so sure when it first loaded, thought the worn lipstick over took the colours in frame, but it really is pretty Sue. If there are any French mum's looking in have a lovely mother's day.
Sue - Hope your day is as bright and cheerful as this unusual beautiful weather we're experiencing in Lancashire lol xxx

Good morning Sue,
Absolutely stunning card today which would make a fabulous framed gift without any sentiment on it. One which I am sure would be truly treasured. Yvonne xx

Good Morning Sue

i hope you are bright eyed and bushy tailed or will be so later today :)

A lovely card and sentiments can be changed. The colours are lovely. Like others I am getting to really like the Oxides and their rich velvety texture.

Wow, that background is amazing! I thought it was a new die when I first looked, it really works so well, not something I normally do. Thank you Sue for reminding us of this technique.

Hi Sue,

I have the Springtime Frame and it works just as beautifully cut as a silhouette too as well as this more colourful version you've shown us today - and I'm definitely going to invest in some more Distress Oxides if they work so well for letterpressing, like Stephanie I gave up trying with ordinary water-based inkpads...

PP - Yes!...Brian Mulrooney - that kid's going to be famous for the rest of his life isn't he...I think he suddenly caught sight of the interior of the chapel with all those people and floral decorations and it blew his mind but he and his twin carried on regardless displaying that lovely train to perfection - what a pair of little troupers!

Oh, so pretty!

After reading your whole recipe, I went back to learn the name of that lovely pink card stock. Duh! It's white card stock! With worn lipstick distress oxide! Well within reach!

Could somebody please tell what mil card is? Is there a unsaid number that's implied?

Thank you. And the card is such a gift to all of us.

Many more thank you'd!

Best,

Donita

Hi Sue, I'm so pleased that you posted this card, I love it. The letterpressed Art Deco Shells embossing folder is gorgeous and you know the Springtime Frame is one of my most favourite of your dies. This really is a Spring into Summer card but with a change of colours it would do just as well for Autumn or even Winter with the bird made into a robin and the butterflies snipped off.

Hi Sue,
Such a lovely card, fit for the best mum in the world. I love that frame, by the time I get round to doing it it might have to be an autumn theme. But will be equally lovely then.
I love, love, love the letterpressing, it is so effective. Thank you for sharing.
