Ornamental Accents

Good Sunday morning all!  I don't usually do cards without some sort of sentiment, but this one was just so pretty, I didn't feel that it really needed one!  I started by cutting the decorative die from the Atlas Striplet into a piece of coconut white card.  I added mounting foam to the back and seated the piece over a piece of blush card.  Next I selected the Ornamental Accents die set and cut five of the wider die using both the decorative die and the outer cutting edge.  I displayed them in a fan shape and glued them together at the bottom.   I cut several of the Orange Blossom Leaves out of white card then inked the veins through the die with Forest Moss.  I removed them from the die and inked the rest of the leaves with Peeled Paint.  I cut several of the Exquisite Poppy die to create one flower.  I used a thin black marker through the die to add veins.  I inked the edges with Spun Sugar after removing them from the die, then assembled them.  I tied a bow with black jute then added the flower to it and glued it in the centre of the leaves at the bottom of the fan.  I completed the card with a simple white on white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card Sue, it's gorgeous. Love that flower.
Maureen, so glad you are home and why shouldn't you be mentioned in dispatches, taking a tumble in Northumberland Street deserves mention. 3 cheers for Sainsburys and Primark, the "posh" shops would have asked you to stop blocking their doorways. I hated my Zimmer Frame when I had my ankle op, I didn't feel safe with it. Rest and take care.
Rosemarie, thank you for mail, did you get my reply, hope so.
Elaine, so good that we finally got through to each other. Hugs to you and Andrew and Helen.
Laine, I couldn't leave you and your poorly Mum out now could I. Hope you are both feeling better.
Sharon, hugs for you and fingers crossed that all goes well with the scan, it's a long time to wait and worry.
CreweTrish, hope your brother is going to be alright, that was a very long day, you both must have been exhausted.
CraftySueToo, how is your mum, is she home yet?
Well the saga goes on, drove over to the other pharmacy yesterday and it's closed on a Saturday so no antibiotics till Monday, not a happy bunny.
Hugs to all, take care, especially our poorly and missing friends.

Hello Sue,

Your card today is "sheer elegance." I'm not seeing the blush card on my computer screen but the white on white is stunning with just a little color from the flower and leaves.A beautiful creation. It's nice seeing some of the older dies.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a very pretty card, love the striplet and the way you have done the leaves, very effective.

Pam what a fiasco you are having with the prescription, that will now be 3 days without the medication all because a silly person sent the prescription to the wrong place, special hugs to you. I also reiterate everything you have said above, your so good to us.

Hi Sue,

What a beautiful card this morning. It is suitable for many occasions and shows how versatile your dies are. You can use your striplets in so many ways adding so pretty details to a card! Thanks for another daily dose of inspiration. It’s a must try!

Have a great Sunday ladies!

Good morning Sue. Just my kind of card, it's stunning and versatile.

It's great having our Maureen back. Yes why not be mentioned in dispatches, she I think brought the street to a stand still. Ha. Ha. Royality now oh dear we are going to have to raise our standards even more for the meet ups. A castle to stay in next I think? No red silk ballooon either she will be needing a Rolls Royce! We would do anything to have her with us this week.
Pam, that is not good reference your prescription! Someone's head will roll I fear. Just rest and keep warm in the mean time.
Have a good day what ever you are doing.

Gorgeous, elegant card today and a greeting would spoil it completely. As others have said it's always handy to have a few cards without greetings for emergencies too. My friend couldn't believe that the dies she was looking at in my stash made such a beautiful fan but she is now a convert.
Thinking of all missing and ill friends. Crafty hugs to all and an extra one to Pam. Stay warm.

Hiyas,

(That's short for hi, all you guys) (Not sure if it's regional from one of the places I grew up in or just me.).

My favorite part is the fan. Appealing in every way. But if I did only things I like best, all my cards would look the same, with the same flowers and foliage, only in different colors. So I appreciate the variety. But I might not do this.

Today the stamping group got together for about 8 hours of laughing, making, talking, eating and admiring. Usually, some of us bring the ingredients for a card that we can teach. I brought the Posh Door and we Distress Inked the stone work with a Tim Holtz stencil. We made some cards that, when you pull on the insert, the focal element pops up and the sentiment slides into the window so you can read it. The newest among us brought one that she said was easy, but it wasn't. We suddenly realized she may be a genius in spatial intelligence. If you can imagine a wedge of card stock folded into a Z, and a matching but opposite wedge folded into a Z and slits cut into both wedges, down from the top of one and up from the bottom of the other, then the slits matched up so it makes like a box baffle. I think we were supposed to decorate that, but I got in a frenzy of cutting butterflies for everyone with the Cascading Butterflies and some great card stock printed with a watercolor effect that the Box Baffle Girl brought. And I'm not exaggerating how much we were baffled. I undertook cutting the butterflies because I needed a copper doorknob to match my copper topiary pots, and I could see the large middle butterfly gives doorknob fallout pieces like the Atlantic Background does, only they're easier to cut and collect.

BTW, has anyone tried making fruit by cutting the door's half-circle window in white and backing it with lemon, orange or lime? You get half slices of citrus. I'm picturing it but haven't done it. Not sure what I'd do with them.

Big day after an exhausting week. Finally, time to rest!

Love,
Donita

PS, the North American distributor finally got their shipment of dies from the April release. Whew! Thought I was going to miss out!

Donita, your stamping group sounds amazing wish I could join you!
Sharon you are spot on, Sues Wilsonettes are a lovely caring bunch.
Diane you will have to curtesy very very low after all our Maureen deserves the greatest respect.
Ooh Patricia I didn't know Hazel was organising a castle for October, must dig out my tiara.
Myra I shall cling onto your bumper, you can't get away from me so easily.
Maureen you may not be with us in body but you will definitely be with us in spirit.

Hello Sue.

Lovely Card. I think this has a very natural look to it. I really like the fanned Ornamental Accents die cuts and the pretty floral decoration. Thanks for sharing.

Best wishes

Hi Sue. WOW This is a stunning card very femenine just up my street. The colours are beautiful and it does not need a sentiment as it could be used for all sorts of occassions.
Best Wishes.

WOW! I have to agree that this needs no sentiment to make it more beautiful! I think ,
Letting the die cutting speak for itself is the perfect way to go! Absolutely breathtaking and perfect in my book! TFS!

Hi Sue

Nice to see the splash of colour just for a change. Like you, I usually do a sentiment and get a bit flumoxed as to what to do if one just doesn't seem to fit.
