Christmas Double Day

Hello crafters!  We are down to our penultimate (I love that word!) Christmas double day for the year!  First up is a pretty Christmas Shadow Box card.  I think this may even be my personal favourite of all the shadow box samples I made.  There is just something so clean and refreshing about it.  I cut the shadow box die in milk card and added mounting foam to the back of it.  I embossed another piece of milk card with the Twinkle Twinkle embossing folder and added the die cut over it.  I used gold and silver card to cut the small ornaments for the upper box and used paint pens to add the tops to each of them before adding them with mounting foam.  I cut the mittens out of kraft card and added a tiny bit of colour to the edge and used a white pencil as a highlight.  For the long vertical box, I cut the stocking in red and green.  I added mounting foam to the backs and then a top of Iced Snow on each of them to look like fur.  I cut the Rustic Twig wreath out of kraft card and added it to the back of the largest opening.  I cut the tree, setting in against the wreath and then decorated it with ornaments, presents  and trim in gold, silver, and red.  I used the Stitched Lattice Frames to add an Antique Gold frame around the card.  The card was completed with gold and milk mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for card number two

Card number two is a simple angel card.  I started with a piece of French Navy card and used Pixie powders on it.  I tapped the Midnight Blue and Rich Gold Pixie Powders across it and spritzed it with water.  I allowed it to dry then cut it with the Starry Night Background, giving it the look of celestial heavens.   I backed it with white and added a frame cut from the Double Pierced Noble Rectangles in white card.  I cut the Christmas 2016 Angel out of coconut white and then used the die to emboss an impression on another piece of white card.  I used the embossed piece to cut around the impression to create a backing piece for her.  I glued the backing onto the cut out angel and added mounting foam to the back.   I mounted her in the lower corner opposite the sun rays.  I completed the card with white and French Navy mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 3/4" in size.   All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous cards Sue , beautiful. Love both but no 2 for me today.
Tina, thank you for popping in to let us know how you are. All our thoughts and prayers are with you, during these sad days, and also the family too.
Tracey, I hope you had a lovely bath and straight to bed, you have had a traumatic time and now working full time is bound to tire you.
Elaine, I hope Andrew is feeling more comfortable and the rash is easing.
June, so good to hear you had a good Christmas meal with the craft club family.
Tina, hope Peter has been able to find something to eat and drink that he can keep down. Nothing worse than feeling hungry when you are like that.
Barbara had a lovely last morning with us. The team collection was spent on Yankee Candles, large jars in her fragrant fragrances, and my personal gift to her was a glass shade to fit the top of the jars. She loved her card and also the Christmas card and 6oth birthday card I made for her for January.
My hugs to all poorly missing friends and all in the blog.

Thank you for two beautiful cards today!!!
My favourite is the first one, just love the shadow boxes. I am currently making three of these in colours that match the recipients xmas trees 🌲.
Pam you sound as though you had a lovely day with Barbara yesterday, the leaving gifts sound lovely.
June Smith - hope the knees are ok, you are excercisng them as per physio's instructions.
Nanna Tina - I hope you are ok and your family giving you lots of love ❤️ and support.
Peter was a lot brighter yesterday, Found his beloved Coca Cola in little glass bottles as he says doesn't taste the same in plastic ones. He ate better and the anti- sickness tablets seem to be kicking in at last.

Morning Sue. Two more lovely cards for us today. The very useful popular shadow box is perfect a lovely idea from you, the second festive card, again it was the background that really took my eye into the card, it's amazing. Can you get it wrong with the pixie powders cuz all I seem to make is a splotch of red gold and silver mess ! It looks nothing like your's, John's or Phill's backgrounds !!! Maybe it's the water spritzer, it sprays a very very fine mist and rarely gets a good soaking to get a good fizz and pop of mica going, it's only a thin water bottle and doesn't hold Mitch water so by the time I've gone back n forth from the bathroom to refill the paper/card is dry lol plus the continuous pumping action really makes my useless stubby little finger upset, maybe i should use my noggin and get a larger better water spray bottle, failing that - the hose 😊
I decided after my festive market panic that I wasn't going to put pressure on myself to make cards for those that 'expected' a handmade card. I've made two and that's the lot, so I decided to buy charity cards for Cancer as losing both parents to that evil illness direct from the devil himself, is close to my heart, so why should I feel 'guilty' for not making them when I can offer a tiny amount of help to those that need it more, and let's face it, you never know what's round the corner, so it's so lovely to see your samples and have peace of mind knowing I've not got to make anymore myself and look forward to taking my new shadow box accessories away with us to work on over Xmas as I'm almost certain they will be in my birthday and Xmas gift bag and I'm so excited at seeing them. May treat myself to a tiny little die cutter just for my tiny precious garden, get well, and the other dies for the shadow box collections and I can cut them whilst watching my two have fun on the beach from the warmth of the car lol.
Have a good day Sue, and hope my daily hug to you helps xxx

Two gorgeous cards, Sue, love the shadow box with all your extra tiny details but have to say no:2 does it for me! Don't usually go for angels, but this fab background and the crispness of the contrast between the blue and white is stunning. Such a shame we're getting to the end of the double days, it's been great.
Pam, Barbara's last day sounded really special - lovely pressies too.
Tracy - let's hope your life looks brighter now, just don't work too hard... easier said than done with the Christmas rush lol.
Nanna Tina, thinking of you and your family. Hope no more hiccups.
Hugs to all.

Hi Sue,
Two more beautiful cards for us today but I have to admit to falling head over heels in love with the shadow box one! I love all your shadow box cards but this one is just so delightful. I think I need to buy this for next year and then everyone will get the same card from me lol.
It's certainly nothing like Christmas weather down here in my corner of Cornwall and I think it's going to stay mild as well. We've been getting one day with glorious sunshine and clear blue skies then the next day will see it hosing down with rain. Having a dog, a grown cat and a kitten dashing in and out I'm having to lay old towels down on the kitchen floor to mop up all the mud from their paws before they rush into the lounge room and ruin my new carpet...it would be much easier with snow lol. Right now it's dry but there's a strange yellow tinge to the light, so not too sure what mother nature has in store. I think it's a rain day today so I could be in for a soaking, what a good reason to lick myself away in the craft room.
Have a wonderful deregulation Friday everyone.

Good morning Sue and all,

It's so nice to think of you all starting your day as I end mine in the States.

I like the angel card better. Would it look empty if it was without the rays? The better to see the milky pixie way?

After sighing yesterday about how long it was taking for the Pitter Patter animals to cross the ocean, they arrived in my mailbox!

I'm trying to piece that quilt card for my sister in Christmas colors, but I had to stop when my cat came to help. He studied it closely but I don't think he learned anything. When I turned away, he rearranged it to his satisfaction.

Your cards today wonderfully represent scenes and memories of Christmas. Your word "penultimate" sent me to the dictionary. I did not know this word. It is a fine word and I can see why you like it. My Christmas cards this year featured your Christmas Angel 2016. Needing fifty of these lovely angels, I wish you had included an outside die for her. Not feeling I was up to cutting fifty outlines for her, I just changed my design. I cut her out and used her aperture instead of all the outline cutting. I backed the aperture with double sided sticky sheet and placed the die cut angel back onto the sticky piece, added glitter to her dress and wings, and outlined the glued in angel with a silver pen to give her definition. There was a lot more to the card, but I also accented my final layer with one triple layered vellum poinsettia cut from your poinsettia additions adding a dazzler to the center. I also added vellum cut holly sprigs, your die, under the poinsettias. One special lady friend Judy got an angel with a detached wing, glittered on acetate and an extra vellum poinsettia. I was very pleased with my finished card. Thank you for your lovely dies.

It amazes me how versatile the shadow box die is, cannot wait for mine to arrive. I definitely have to get more of the add on sets. The star burst angel is beautiful. Thank you so much, Sue, for sharing your remarkable talents.
