Christmas Double Days

Hi bloggers!  Two completely different sort of cards for my double offering.  It may not even be fair to ask to pick a favourite as the are so different, but I was just feeling like it was just time for a night and day sort of pair. LOL  The first one up uses the aperture of my 2016 Christmas Angel as the starting point for this card.  I cut her out of gold pearl card and then embossed the aperture with the Frosty Swirls embossing folder.  I added mounting foam to the back of the piece.   Out of milk card, I cut the Poinsettia Background, then added a piece of sticky adhesive behind it followed by another piece of milk card.  I dusted the exposed adhesive on the front with Angel Gold Mica powder for a soft subtle look.  I added the angel aperture over the top.  I embossed a larger piece of milk card with the Frosty Swirls folder and added the entire piece to this.  I stamped my sentiment and another still larger piece of milk card and gold heat embossed it.  All the background was then added to this card above the sentiment.  I made two Poinsettias to use as accents by dusting the leaves with the same gold mica after I added the outline to the tops.  I seated them on some gold cording and gold metallic lynx.  I completed the card with a milk card mat with ivory PVA glue dots around the edge.  A thin gold mat was then added and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two utilises the Stocking Gift Card holder die, but I have added a couple of candy canes instead of a gift card, which makes it a perfect card for a younger person on your Christmas Card list!  It is much more of a fun card rather than the elegant angel card above, but still so much fun to make.  I cut the Stocking Gift Card Holder die out of Brunswick Green card.  I backed it with coconut white card, and cut through the original slit using a craft knife.  I then cut another one Stocking out of Ruby Red card and used the fall away pieces to fill in those areas on the original green one.  I cut one more Stocking card holder out of white card, then nipped away the top part of the stocking and coated it with glue and covered it with some white faux snow (from my stash), allowed it to dry then added it atop the original.  Using the extra frames around the die, I cut a multi layered frame of white and red to add on to the original as an accent.  I cut a larger piece of coconut white card and embossed it with the Nordic Trees embossing folder and seated it in the centre.  I completed the card with a couple of candy canes then a red mat, a pierced white mat, a green mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  There's your Christmas double day until next Friday!  All for now, Sue x

Oh my, gorgeous cards, lovely. Love both of them
Tina T, I hope now that Peter has had his scan, they don't seem to take into account the impact that these cancellations have on patients and their families, just to meet their schedules.
Elaine, I hope Andrew has had his appointment and you now have a plan of treatment. How is your leg.
Laine, my goodness you were in the wars, hope you are alright and fit for your visit to Princess Pixies palace, will you be able to curtesy with that gammy knee lol.
Tina, so happy Mick is at least eating well, hope they sort his comfort soon.
Wheely take care, you are having a bad time if it.
Tracey, missing you, are you okay.
Steph, I can imagine her building up speed and her little bum waggling away while you chase her.
Hugs to all

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, gosh you have spoilt us today, 2 gorgeous cards and so different, I adore both of them and am not going to choose between them today, the cards speak for themselves.

Tina - pleased that Mick enjoyed his macdonalds, egg, chips and mushrooms, lets hope the tests come back clear so that he can start the tablets.

Yvonne - aka Princess Pixie........can you see me curtseying, got my stick in one hand though in case I topple over.......you do make me laugh.

Tina t - I am so sorry that Peters scan was cancelled, did they eventually do it?

Myra, you made me laugh about Maureen and specsavers, hilarious.

Hugs to everyone else who needs them, I am off today to lunch with a few craft friends - looking forward to that. Have a lovely weekend.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Morning crafty clever friend. Firstly I must say WOW and double WOW regarding your brand new collection. I don't think I've ever been so excited to see the samples. The New Additions are just what I want and need, it's very rare for me to say "I want" it's always on a need basis due to my making cards for others and market, the stamps to co-ordinate are also needed. I know this set will be so valuable and helpful, thank you for these new beautiful designs. The others are just breath taking and will be a very quick sell out, so I shall be putting in my orders today ☺ after your bridal gown design maybe you could consider finding a way to design a Christening collection with a Christening gown, font and candle with the sentiments too, I'm sure I've never seen a die collection for this celebration and it's still so big here in the UK. I know a lot of us reach for a cross die when we make these cards so to be able to have the choice of using a gown or font along with a candle would make these cards very special. I'm sorry to ramble on but I lay awake thinking about your New Additions dies and designing cards in my mind lol then my imagination just ran away with me !!!
As soon as I saw the gift card die just before you launched them I knew it was going to be in top of my festive list. I've not used it yet but I know it will be so loved by the market customers, I'm really looking forward to batch making with it.
I'm sorry if I've given you a headache by jumping on you with the Christening idea, so I'm sending hugs to say sorry and hope you have a good day ahead xx

Love both these cards Sue, the second one caught my eye, think that is fab. Made a card yesterday using your double pierced ovals and double pierced circles. I was thinking wouldn't it be good if Sue brought out the 'B' size in these dies. Within seconds I got an email from a craft company saying they were on preorder. How amazing is that, so needless to say they jumped in my basket.

Nice cards, Sue, not sure about the aperture for the angel but love the rest of it. Jolly stocking card, brilliant for little ones.
Wheely, good to see you back even if things not brilliant, cuddles for Billy.
Laine - what have you been up to - you said you'd be careful? Y-day approaching fast.
Now, it was Yvonne who gave herself the title (wouldn't you know!!) and I'm just going alone with it to humour her. Big mistake there - the diva appeared yesterday!
All good banter, though, we need more of it.
Dawn Holben - great to see your lovely dogs in the JS newsletter.
Hugs all round - well wishes to the loved ones waiting for treatment.

Loving the all gold angel card. The apperture works well in this card and the Angel Gold Mica is perfect. It's those finishing touches that complete a card so well.

The stocking card hits the spot as far as fun goes. It puts me in mind of something I could put together for my grandsons. My ideas for them keep changing! I have lots of your Christmas dies but this is one I kept looking at on the website but failed to buy. I promised myself no more Christmas dies but really this is one I will purchase. Really love what you have done with this die. Thanks.

Hi Sue and everyone

Both great cards. I think though I would have preferred to see the positive part of the Angel die used instead of the negative. Or even an angel in another colour fitted back into the negative space. Sorry, just my preference. Hope you don't mind me saying.

June - I know Maureen and we have the same daft sense of humour !! It's good to have some fun isn't it!

Hi Sue,
Gosh, two very different cards today. I love them both! I had to look twice at the first one as it looked as though you'd cut the angel out of a sheet of metal, the card stock is really shiny isn't it and very effective. I love the poinsettias, both die sets are still on my wish list lol.
The stocking card is so much fun and fantastic for sending a gift card inside if you have a friend or relative that lives too far away for you to deliver a bigger gift.
I think both cards deserve five stars :)
I'm now off to see if I can find my new kitten. He only arrived this morning and I think he's in hiding under the sofa. He's so tiny I'n scared of losing him lol.

Hi Sue. Nice to see you getting into the spirit of Christmas already. The first card is a nice idea bur I find the aperture shape a bit confusing - I think I would have used the die cut of the angel in the aperture rather than the poinsettia embossing folder. I absolutely love the Christmas Socking die and so, of course, I love this card. By the way, some of the on-line shops are showing the dies from your new launch, they all look so delicate and I can't wait to see the samples when you launch them.

Hello Sue
I think I prefer the second card because I can't see the angel shape not your fault Sue I once went on a course to learn how children learn and I was shown a short film and at the end of it was asked did everybody see the writing flash up on the scene I didn't and had to watch it again before noticing the words then they all started talking about the cartoon bear that appeared on the film I hadn't noticed that either. Elaine so glad Andrew can start his treatment.

Evening Sue
I always forget about double days. You haven't disappointed us. Always struggle to choose a favourite and as you say they are both so different x
Number 1 is opulent and magnificent with such a touch of elegance it is striking x
Number 2 is festively fun and fabulous x
So they are both wonderful in different ways x
Proud owner of every single pixie powder now although I have yet to play with the remaining 6 that arrived by post today. Bit of a busy day so playtime had to go on the back burner today x
Just spoken to Laine and she is not feeling too bad after her misadventure yesterday although bruised and sore. She caught her heel and fell full force face first onto the tarmac. Not nice but she was so lucky that she didn't have any broken bones. Bless her. Fingers crossed she will be on the mend and sorted and fighting fit by the time she comes to stay x
Fluffy - I am so sorry I let the cat out of the bag re. the new dies. I was just so excited that I couldn't keep it in! I didn't change my name by deed pole - just on my google profile. I wasn' really keen on receiving my bills from British Gas addressed to Princess Pixie. Now that would just be silly. Lol. Hugs x
Nanna Tina - go on treat yourself to a new die - but which one will you choose. With all those fabulous new designs to drool over it will be very difficult. I hope Mick's weigh in was a success. Hugs x
Wheely - so lovely to see you back. I am a little upset that you find my new title amusing. A little more respect if you please. Hugs x

Two fab cards today Sue, the second one has to be my favourite.
I love how you have designed and the colours.
What a fab idea of putting the candy canes in, I think this would be loved by adults
as well as children.

Hi Sue. WOW !!! I love your two gorgeous Christmas cards today !!! The first one is lovely but personally I would have preferred it if you had replaced the die cut Angel back into the aperture. It is difficult to tell what the shape of the aperture is. Other than that, the card is gorgeous. I love the cardstock, the EF and those Poinsettia's are just beautiful !!! A very elegant Christmas card Sue.
The second card, the Christmas stocking one is really gorgeous !!! So traditional, l love the colour combo , and the "fluffy" white part at the top of the stocking looks so realistic !!! This is such a lovely bright, fun Christmas card and such a great idea for giving money / gift cards / small sweets that it is definately my favourite of the two cards Sue. I love it. Thank you for sharing your two gorgeous Christmas cards today.
I have seen a sneaky peak of your new die release and they are all gorgeous Sue !!! Steve has ordered the Noble Oval dies set B for me, as a surprise, to go with the original set I already have !!! I am so very lucky to have him !!! I love some of your new Baby dies Sue and I wholeheartedly agree with Steph, I have been asked to make several Baby Christening cards over the last year or so and no one any where has made any nice Christening dies or nice, suitable fancy word dies that I could use for my cards. As Steph says Christening and Baptism cards are very popular and very much wanted by many people. Especially original hand made cards. I do hope you will consider maybe making some in the future. (Just a suggestion Sue.) Sending you lots of love and hugs today Sue from Tres x x x

Sending lots of love to everyone today from Tres x x x

Two great cards at opposite ends of the spectrum!! Like the opulence of the angel card although it took me a bit to work out what it was. The stocking card is delightful and cheery. I love the Christmas colours. The green and red matting really makes it all pop. Think I like the stocking card best. Have a good weekend.

Late in commenting I know!!

Two lovely cards. Love the principle of the first one although I, too, am not so sure about the Angel aperture. The second is just plain fun.

I love both the cards for entirely different reasons. Imagine how children would love the stocking card and I love the colour tones in this. Love the angel because it links totally with the true meaning of and reason for Christmas.

Not easy to choose one over the other.
