Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there crafters!  Today's giveaway is a gentle card, very subtle with a white and gold theme, but really pretty in person.  I started by embossing coconut white card with the Star Swirls embossing folder.  I rubbed Enchanted Gold gilding wax over the top of the embossing for a subtle accent.  Next, I ran dries clear glue all the way around the edge and coated it with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry.  For the focal element, I cut an oval using the Peeking Snowflake.  I added a gold edge by using the oval dies from both the Peeking Snowflake and the Lattice Snowflake die sets.  I cut several of the Jingle Bells die in white card and sprayed them with glue to stack them for dimension.  I sprayed the top of the sentiment and then sugared it with Diamond Sprinkles.  One more Jingle Bells die was cut in gold and I used it as an offset shadow, gluing it below.  I created several poinsettias for the card by cutting the Classic Poinsettia out of vellum in a variety of sizes and adding the Open petal Poinsettia cut out of white card on top.  I offset two for each flower and added a small clear Dazzler to the centres.  I arranged the larger flower on a piece of white tulle, then set the two smaller flowers in the opposite corner.  I pierced a white mat, then added a thin gold mat and another white layer to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size.  If you would like a chance to win this card, just leave me a comment and I will enter you into the drawing.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, lovely card today, I must say the embossing on the words and bells is marvellous and by cutting 3 of them and layering them on top of one another it really makes them pop, I will have to try this one as well.

Hi Sue.
Beautiful. Your photography shots are amazing, they show every wonderful detail of the deep embossing enhanced by the guilding wax. It really is a pretty Christmas card, and it will be a lucky Sueaholic that has this special gift delivered next week.
I have to say that Julia did a fantastic job yesterday, anyone that was afraid or wary of using masks must feel extremely confident now that they could add this technique to their craft as Julia took away all the worries and concerns for the nervous beginner. I just need to start collecting more masks as my addiction is growing fast lol.
Here's hoping you have a good day Sue, and I leave you with my usual love and hugs, I also have some set aside for my special friends here and on the wonderful FB page.
Have a lovely day.

Morning Sue
I have the perfect spot for this card. It is really lovely. I really need to get those poinsettia's. Every time I see them on one of your beautiful cards they blow me away. I am so in awe of how you come up with so many different designs and combinations of putting things together to create such wonderful works of art. I do hope you have managed to recharge your batteries and put your feet up after such a hectic schedule over the last few weeks x
Theresa - I was really shocked to hear my name read out during Sue's show. I have sent e mails in the past but they've never actually featured in the shows. Obviously when Sue mentioned her sweet treat I knew it may open the floodgates for begging requests. Lol. You could ask Sue to share but I think you may have more luck getting blood out of a stone x
Maria - I am a little concerned about the comment you made about being brave - am I really that scary? Lol. It would be lovely to able to chat to everyone at Ally Pally but I think we would need a whole week. Next time we will sit next to each other and share secrets x
Lorraine - I do not need to curry favour with Sue. Being in the top favourite position is purely because of my stunning good looks and magnetic personality. The sweet treats are out of the goodness of my heart. You sound so bitter my dear - jealousy is a terrible thing.
Your stories of Brodie's antics do make me laugh. He is so like a spoilt child. He could star in his own soap with you as supporting actress x
Jan - did you manage to keep your cocktail dress clean whilst doing your housework? The funniest thing is when the postman knocks on your door and gives you a quizzical look. In response you simply say - 'just cleaning'! It leaves the postman puzzled for the day and brings a smile to your face - I am speaking from experience x
Magpie - thanks for the advice but I will admit it was tiredness and sheer stupidity on my part that caused me to lose my comment x
CraftySuetoo - so sorry forgot to say how pleased I was to hear your good news x
Melody and Molly - you are in my thoughts - sending you love and a warm hug x
I think we are in for another bright sunny day - fabulous for catching up with my washing. Not so good when the sun shines on my windows which are badly in need of a clean. When I do get round to it I think my posh frock will be a necessity - the vision of me up a ladder in a state of complete overdress will certainly give the neighbours something to talk about.
Take care everyone
Crafty hugs

Hi Sue,
I love this card especially the vellum poinsettias. They are just gorgeous. I do like the jingle bells die but don't think I can justify spending any more money , so I'll just have to substitute.
Melody, Francis,Molly and family - thinking of you.
Tracy - hope you are feeling better today,
Lynda - thanks for the update of Lynne M. If you are in touch again, please pass on my love to her.
Lorraine - I was really chuckling reading about the escapologist otherwise known as Brodie! We had a rescued border collie who could get out of anywhere! Only problem was, she also liked chasing cars! She had two routes when she escaped - one was down onto the building site ( our estate was still being built) and the other was up onto the road. Everyone on the estate knew her and would tell us which way she'd gone. Once she was up on the road trying to herd the cars. There were 10 people from our cul de sac trying to catch her!! Fortunately we did! Another time I was at a lesson with her - the teacher was an ex police dog handler so knew his stuff. I used to go once a week and he would ask how the training had gone. One time I said she wouldn't stop barking at dogs, so he took us round to the kennels and honestly she was as good as gold ( butter wouldn't melt). Next week I said she tries to chase the horses in the field behind us and bark at them, so off we went to a field that had horses. She sat looking at me as if to say " aren't I good". I thought here we go again! Then she decided to go and see the horse who proceeded to kick her! She came running back and sat between my legs as close as she could get! The last time we went, I told the trainer I wouldn't dare let her off her lead. Back to the field with the horse in, triainer told me to go and stand about 50 yards way and call her. I did so, she ran up to me , straight round me and then climbed over an 8 foot hawthorn hedge onto the main road and was chasing oil tankers!! Honestly my heart was in my mouth! I think at this point so was the trainers!! We eventually got her back and the trainer said" Well that's never happened before!" I think he finally believed she had a wicked side to her! We never let her off the lead by a road or anywhere near sheep, but in woods etc she was fine. She was such a gorgeous dog too. Thank you for telling us about Brodie as this has brought back these memories of Bonnie xx
Love and hugs to all and hope you have as good a day as possible, Alison xxx

Thank you for you good wishes and congratulations.

Good mornin sue and crafters

I love today's card. I had to resist temptation to buy this one but maybe next year lol. I really love the poinsettia and did get the filigree one I'm gonny definitely do them in vellum after watching ur shows they looked so delicate and pretty.

Yvonne. U had me in stitches yesterday with the thought of everyone doin their housework etc in their cocktail/fancy dresses good too tho gonny try that today!!!

Tx cowgirl. Thanks for your info. My hubby takes the first one for his hay fever. The second one I've not heard of before but will look into it.

I was diagnosed in 2000 with ibs so I've had it so long but mostly have figured out my triggers there are a few food triggers but the main one is stress. The tablets I use are also available over the counter but are expensive this way. I get them on prescription which for us in Scotland are free. I take colpermin which is peppermint oil and buscopan. Buscopan I only take when the colpermin isn't calming it down And at the rate I go thru medication for ibs and my back pain would have otherwise cost me a fortune!!

Hugs to all that need them an love to all xxx

Myra from Florida sends warm wishes to you. Actually, hot wishes as we have only had a couple of fall like days here. But lots of rain. Love your card today. I've got gilding wax and poinsettia dies. I have to try and do your card justice. Okay. I'll try to to do a card justice as yours are impossible to duplicate! I just don't have the Sue touch. But I try. Thanks for the inspiration.

I just love to see how you mix, match & combine your dies to make a totally new ensemble, Sue. Every card has a fresh, new look even though the dies may be the same. These ideas are so inspiring & cost-effective. This particular card is just gorgeous! White & gold are so classically elegant. Love!

Really like the design of todays card. The use of parchment in the construction of the flowers is a great addition! A great colour combination too...

Hi Sue, a lovely seasonal card. I have this embossing folder and it does look beautiful when gilded. I cut poinsettias from red vellum last year and was very pleased with the result.

Lynda - please pass on my best wishes to Lynn and hopefully the hospital will be able to help with her eyesight.

Hello Sue and everyone else
I have been missing from here for so long but I am trying to get back on track. I haven't missed any of Sue's fabulous design though just haven't been leaving messages.
When I saw today's card my first thought was 'That must be one of the most beautiful Christmas cards I have ever seen'.
My next thought was ' Do I have all of the elements?', well apart from the embossing folder I do; so I am one happy bunny.
Sue, as always you amaze me with your designs. I hope you are going to be coming up north to Scotland soon, I would love to do another of your classes.
Happy crafting everyone xx

Anyone who receives one of these for Christmas will think WOW what a lot of work has gone into it. It is bold yet so delicate with the poinsettias looking so fragile. It is beautiful and so many great ideas incorporated into it as usual. Thank you Sue

Hi Sue,
What a fantastic giveaway card today! I love the effect you've created by layering the Jingle Bells die - very effective. Making the flowers out of vellum really gives them an extra touch of class. All in all, a winner of a card. Thanks for sharing, and good luck everyone in advance.

Good evening lovely Sue and the fab Wilsonettes,

What a stunning card Sue, how on earth did you know that this weeks giveaway would match my craftroom perfectly? How thoughtful of you to co ordinate it perfectly for me, I look forward to framing it in a suitably ostentatious manner as befits such a work of art, and hanging it in my 'Sue's Spot'. It will give me oodles of inspiration as I gaze lovingly at it whilst attempting my own variations of your fab designs. Don't worry, I won't tell Yvonne that I am your new favourite Wilsonette, I may even attempt to make a cake for you for when we meet at the next Ally Pally... Let it be noted though that baking is not my forte, it could quite possibly look more like road kill than gateau:-)
Anyway, all joking aside, I do love today's ensemble, it is clean, fresh and elegant- the background deserves a special mention, I am definitely going to be investing in some metallic gilding wax for the festive season. Wrapping the gold bell end around the lettering is a lovely touch too, as is layering the sentiment for added dimension. It is one very lucky Wilsonette who will be the proud recipient of this little beauty.
I feel like a headless chicken just now, we have been frantically trying to get all of our appointments out of the way, washing, ironing, general cleaning and packing done before my Mum leaves for Yorkshire tomorrow...and my Dad turns up for a surprise visit from Liverpool as well...I hate those kind of surprises now, I like to plan everything meticulously and some would say anally, and last minute appearances throw me a little...it's a sign that I'm getting old I guess:-)
So, decided to catch my breath and check in on Sues lovely blog. It's nice to know that Brodies antics are appreciated by someone, even if it isn't me! He's had a quiet day today and is behaving impeccably, it's the quiet before the storm though- my Mum is the disciplinarian and I'm as soft as putty in his paws so her absence is a recipe for disaster. The last time she went away our dear departed Gizmo showed his disgust by not returning home one night and there was me in my dressing gown roaming the streets like a disorientated lunatic until 5 am searching for him. He ambled up to the front door at 11am as if it was the most natural thing in the world, I didn't know whether to hug him or throttle him...I chose the former, such was my relief! There seems to be a distinct pattern of behaviour with my feline babies, perhaps I should take a hint:-)
Alison, loved your story about Bonnie, our furry four paws literally run rings around us , don't they:-)
I've been thinking about Angels too today- I visited the spiritualist church and they told me that if you request assistance from your guardian angel, they are honour bond to respond, so I do it quite a lot . Particularly when one of my cats goes missing and I'm beginning to panic, I say a brief prayer asking that they come home within the next few minutes and they always appear immediately - it sounds mildly loony but I really believe in their existence. You can get so much comfort from the knowledge that you are protected and not alone. I hope don't sound like a nutter...well, maybe that won't come as any real surprise to most of you:-)
Yvonne, the vision of you in a cocktail dress and marigolds made me chuckle but your Postie should try delivery a package to me, the sight of me answering the door in my lace negligee and rubber gloves needs a strong constitution! I'm not bitter and twisted honey, you certainly do have a magnetic personality but as to the good looks, I'll be the judge of that when we meet...we all know Thelma was considerably better looking than Louise now don't we?
Big bear hugs to those in suffering or pain, special hugs to Melody and Molly..
Off to watch Bake Off and get some tips in preparation for making Sue culinary masterpiece:-)

Love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxx
