Not Older, Just Better

Good Sunday morning all!  I do love the sentiment on today's card, don't you! LOL  I used the Canadian Background outer cutting die to create a frame and backed it with another piece of milk card for a tone on tone look.  However, because there isn't a separate  die to actually cut the inside of the frame, I used the smaller die in the set as a guide and cut around it with a craft knife to create the opening in the frame.  With the straight edged rectangular shape, it was quite easy to do and gives you just one more way to actually use your dies!  I cut two of the Elegant Lace edger in coconut white card and added them to the inside of the top and bottom part of the frame.  This worked well since the sentiment was narrow and would have looked quite dwarfed in the frame opening, plus they add a bit of interesting detail to the card as well.  I stamped my sentiment and placed the frame with mounting foam on the back, over it so it was raised for dimension.  Next, I cut several of the Perfect Peonies Complete petal out of coconut white card.  I inked the matching Shaded Peony stamps and placed the die cuts on to the stamp and pressed well to transfer the design.  You can also stamp them, then cut them out using a template, both methods work very well.  I inked the edges with Picked Raspberry distress ink and added Black Dazzlers to the centres.  I tied a messy bow out of ant. white satin ribbon and added it to the bottom of the frame.  I seated the three flowers on top and then added white flatback pearls to the centres of all the frame sections as accents.  Finally, I finished the card with a white mat which I pierced, a thin back mat and a larger white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  8" in size.

Just a quick reminder that my Hochanda tv shows are today at 9am to 11am (loads of demos in this 2 hour slot), 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm.  I will be showing you all sorts of things to do with the Festive die range!  I hope you can tune in to watch on either  SKY 663, FREEVIEW 39,  orFREESAT 822 or even on your PC at www.hochanda.com    The Hochanda website is now up and running as well!  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,
A lovely card today, you were great last night, I was a bit upset they kept cutting in with their sales pitch and taking the camera away while you were finishing colouring your Northern lights.
I too would love to see you do it on your blog, as I am not too good at inking & blending due to dexterity problems.
Hope you don't get interrupted today and we see all of your demos in full.
I've got the shows set to record also.
You are a fantastic designer & artist.

The Canadian background is so pretty and so useful. I love it and I love that card too.

Great to see you on Hochanda last night, but a shame that you were obviously working in difficult circumstances. Thought you coped marvellously though! Hope it goes easier today.

I loved the Northern Lights card, but I'm sure if I tried it I would end up with something that looked as if my 4-year old granddaughter had made it! Actually she might do a better job because she's quite the little artist.

Morning Sue, A fabulous card, I'm loving that you have used the background die-cut in this way, it makes a fabulous frame.
I watched you on Hochanda last night, I loved, loved, loved, your demo's, but to be honest you could have done the show on your own, you didn't need that presenter at all, in fact she was becoming rather annoying (and I never like to say anything detrimental about anyone), then she announced that she would be on with you at 9am too, my heart dropped, I'm just hoping that she is better this morning haha.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Love this card and it's given me just the inspiration I needed for my mum's birthday card. I just love the Canadian die! Thank you so much!
Watched you on Hochanda last night, but have to watch on the website which kept buffering so , sad to say, I fell asleep before the two hours were over! In my defence, we are two hours ahead! I really wish you could do the programme without a presenter, as the constant interruptions to say product numbers etc got quite annoying, when all I wanted was to see the lovely card you were making! That said, I'm looking forward to tuning in today. Think I'll only catch the last show, though.
Have a great day everyone!

I love today's gift. White/white is always a winner with me. Each gift made with this colour palette is always elegant and a classic. Your flowers just give it that little bit of pop. Your Canadian background die is just the best background - well I think so - out of all your backgrounds. It can be used in so so many ways.

I hope that you have a really good day on Hochanda. I recorded last night's show and am now off to set the recorder for today as I cannot watch. It's our Great Grandson -Thomas- 2nd birthday and so we're off just after lunch for a party. Little friends and cousins of Thomas. Lots of family for me.

To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes - What a superbly, splendid card Sue & I too love the sentiment, takes me back to when I respectfully say to anyone who enquires of my age that I am 21+ Vat (but when I say it to the school kiddies their little faces are a right picture as they try to work it out on their fingers how old that really is – once they’ve established what Vat means - one 7 year old girl even had the audacity to exclaim “oh gosh Mrs B that makes you really old because my Mum & Dad says that VAT is really high – my reply “I think you’ve got too many fingers on your hands”; Lol).

I have the Noble pierced dies (just as you promised they are whoppers – Lol), the Canadian background, configuration Elegant Lace Edger & the Peony Stamp & matching die (rarely do I have them all) but alas not the stamp (hope this is one of yours/Phil’s or Johns because I will be trawling the net for this one, as much as I love die cut Sentiments this stamp sentiment is brilliant).

As for cutting out the centre piece of the C’ Border, my hands cannot be trusted with a craft knife (no on paper my crafty friends not on Mr B – Lol), so this morning I searched through my cutting dies paper sample folder & found the perfect item, TL Half Rectangles (10th from smallest for those who have them). I taped to left put through GC then taped to right – it automatically slots in - & put through GC again; perfect cut all round & not even a notch where the centre met.

Kept dozing on & off through the day yesterday but made sure that Mr B had strict instructions to keep me awake for Sue’s show, set it to record but so glad I didn’t miss it as I Loved your Northern lights demo, I was amazed when I saw you do this at CE HQ demo so it was well worth seeing you go through the inking process again just to refresh my memory (which needs it often Lol). Brilliant show last night Sue I was rooting for you but If you were nervous it really didn’t show, but then I guess once you get started on doing something you love then the nerves just kinda melt away, but as always you took it in your stride Sue with your easy going nature & your lovely smiles throughout. Hopefully the presenters’ nerves will soon settle down aswel because she did seem genuinely interested in the techniques that Sue was using.

Oooops! It seems I owe Belated Birthday wishes to 3 of our lovely ladies – Maureen, Pat L & Patricia – sincerely hope that you all had a lovely day (((HUGS))) x x x

LORRAINE – Sincerely hope that you have recovered my friend – missed you & your side-splitting & entertaining comments between yourself & Yvonne (Thelma & Louise – love it), I may be able to write a poem but the humorous wit & banter than flies between you both is a pick-me-up & far outreaches my anecdotes – Lol. Hope you two are not planning to meet in secret, when you both get together I think this will be a meeting that we will all want to be a part of & a witness to – seems I don’t spilt my sides enough – Lol x x x

REBECCA – “Stick a fork in me-I’m done” Bless you this had me in stitches, if you don’t mind I shall procure that to use in work when I’m knackered, I’d best just say it to the adults though just in case the kiddies take me literally & try to stick me to see if I really am done – Lol x x x

To Sue, to my dear friends (you know who you are)& to our feathered & four paws I wish you well with Love ‘n’ (((HUGS) & to all lovely Wilsonettes who need a (((HUG))) or more I’m sending them with love x x xBeth B x x x

Ps I shall try & catch up with the all the comments in the 4 day launch ASAP x x x

Watched yesterday and you were brilliant - it was like watching one of your videos, where you explain everything so well and you weren't continuely interrupted for minutes on end at a time. I used to get so frustrated on the other channel in the end always thinking 'oh for heavens sake please just let so and so get on and show us what to do, I know what the products for sale are - I can read and hear what is being talked about' - just one demo in a whole hour was becoming silly. Congratulations and well done to everyone involved - the video is set.

Good Morning, Sue,
What a lovely day down here in Cornwall today (apart from the ever present wind, that is). I love what you did with the Canadian background to turn it into a frame. This is one of my favourite backgrounds and is way up on my wish list :). The peonies are wonderful!! What a great colour you picked for them and I love the fact that there are matching stamps with the dies...I wish more designers would think of that :). As always, thanks so much for sharing with us. I watched last night's show but I'm afraid to say I got rather fed up with the presenter...you were perfect, as always and I loved the Northern Lights card you made. I really want to get a set of the Winter Trees but, sadly, they were way too expensive on the show when you add the p&p as I can get them cheaper with free shipping from a lot of online places. I will keep watching the channel though as they can only improve...and they have Lee there as well :). I think once the cameramen get used to having to give us clear closeup shots they will be a channel to watch all the time :).xx

Hi Sue, yet another beautiful card today I love the Canadian background and I love the sentiment that more goodies on my wish list.

I loved the demo last night it was fab, seeing the northern lights is on my bucket list lol!! I was also a tad annoyed at the presenter and camera man last night, but I guess they will all improve with experience (I hope!!) Bless them they all seem so nice I'm sure things will improve for them.

I'm sorry to say I missed the 2 hour show and never set it to tape, as I was sure I'd be able to watch it I am genuinely gutted I should know better knowing FM is so unpredictable.

Well I'm definitely going to catch the 12 noon show and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hello Sue,
Such a pretty card, the Canadian background is one of my absolute favourites. Love the idea of using a border die within an apeture so we can use smaller sentiment stamps.
I really enjoyed yesterday's show, the Northern lights card was amazing. I think the presenter was very sweet, she was obviously very new to card making and was genuinely impressed by your demonstrations. At the end of the day it is a shopping channel and we should expect some selling!! Just sorry she didn't read out any of our e mails.
Today's show was equally good, you looked fantastic and your samples are amazing.

Happy Birthday to Julie, hope you have a lovely day.

Hi Sue, a lovely card using my current favourite background and you have given me an idea for an anniversary card that I have to make today. I enjoyed both last night's and this morning's shows on Hochanda, your demonstrations were brilliant. I have everything recorded so that I can go back again and again until I get the techniques fixed in my head. Getting ready now to watch the 12 noon show.

Julie Elli - Happy Birthday! If 60 is the new 40 then surely 50 must be the new 30 so I would say you have nothing to worry about :D

Molly - glad to have you back but sorry things are not going so well for your Granddad.

Rebecca - hope you have a lovely time with your uncle and are able to catch up on Sue's shows later.

Hi Sue

Beautiful card today. That background is gorgeous, and those peonies.

I have put all your shows to record, and so far only watched last nights. You were great as always, showing wonderful techniques and demos. Last nights show would have been improved if the camera had given more close up shots and the presenter had not said so many 'ok's'. However, it is early days and the presenter seemed quite new to this. I'm sure things will improve. I do think she was genuinely amazed at some of your techniques though and had probably not seen embossing being done before. It was nice to see the childlike fascination and wonderment on her face.

Looking forward to catching up on your other shows.

Love Helen. Xxx

It's 4am in Colorado (it takes me so long to get these typed, who knows what time it will actually post) and I just got done watching Sue live on Hochanda! Yippee! Sue you are as delightful as I thought you would be! Of course I've watched your blog videos, but haven't seen you live before. It's fun to see interactions that are mostly unscripted. I like hearing about your history etc. The girl this morning is so cute & sweet :-) it's fun watching her get so excited - because that's how I feel too! She seems genuinely interested in everything and is asking you pertinent personal questions. Although she's doing her job of selling, she is trying to make it fit in appropriately. Sounds like maybe last night's girl didn't do as well? I still hope to catch a re-airing. Would like to see the Northern Lights I've seen so many comments about.
I loved the "catty wompus" bit cuz I knew what it meant! A change of pace for me in this blog lol.
Glad I made you laugh Beth! You may certainly procure the phrase (of course it's not my original). I'm sure I'll procure some of the Britishisms I'm learning at some point! "Oh my giddy aunt" -I just love that! Speaking of words I'm not familiar with (& I really do have a pretty good grasp of the English-oops, I mean American language) what is "vat" as in 21 + vat? I love your stories about the kiddies (well, actually I like all your stories). I took a screen shot of your advice on writing poems so I can remember it.
I agree about Lorraine & Yvonne...don't meet in private cuz the rest of us will miss out! Thelma & Louise, entertain us please!
Oh it's almost time for another Sue show! Hmmm, do I get some sleep before starting my Sunday, or do I watch another???
Almost forgot! Today's card is quite pretty. I think the peonies are colored so beautifully! I still want/need all the Canadian dies (&, &, &). I also like the sentiment -although some days I'm not sure I agree lol. Sorry Julie E! YOU are getting better, not older. Happy Birthday! Really! 50 was great! (It's just that I'm inches away from 52 and that's much older than 50- just ask Beth's students!)!
Happy Birthday to those I've missed! If you didn't get crafty gifts from others, you must treat yourself!

Ps to Frances & others who mentioned it, I did have a very pleasant time with my Uncle. We even talked about Sue & the WW :-) next time I go see him, I'm going to take my GC and some dies. My Aunt, his wife, passed away a little over a year ago and she was an artist. She actually had her own rubber stamp company in the 80's...anyway, he's an artist as well and he's interested. So I'm eager to share. I'm sure I'll be able to catch up on Hochanda, but never know how much time I'll have with him. Thanks for your good wishes! Rebecca in Colorado

Gorgeous card sue!
Really enjoyed the show last night. The Northern Lights were a massive hit with everyone, really pretty.
A lot of people keep complaining about the presenter interrupting your demos but if the products don't sell then there will be no Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions on our screens. I liked her and thought she did a good job. If you want to watch demos uninterrupted then watch them on Youtube.
I do think we need to see better camera work as the close ups were pretty poor. We have to give them a chance as its only the first couple of weeks. It can only get better!!!

Good afternoon Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes,

Well, we're back to so semblance of normality after the craziness of the past few days and what a perfect card to showcase and whet our appetites again. The Canadian background is my most favourite background die in your collection, I have just used it on a birthday card with coordinating box and the finished results are spectacular, it's so eye catching. I'm loving the stamped peonies, that touch of plum is just enough to elevate the card to an insane level....you are so clever and talented! I really must get the configuration dies, I've so missed a trick there....it's hard to prioritise them when I still have Christmas dies to purchase though.....maybe one will throw itself into my basket on my next splurge:-)
Everything appeared to be going to plan today, got up, had bath, washed and dried hair, did enough housework to stop me feeling guilty, then I decided to take Brodie for a walk....yes, In my silk pjs....before I settled down to watch Sues show at 12pm. Well, best laid plans and all that, the little bissum had other ideas by launching himself hari kari style at a tree and breaking off his lead again! He thought his Christmases had all come at once, he came out of the blocks like Usain Bolt and I didn't see him for dust. I tried to coax him with a few treats, a piece of twig and some prawns but to no avail. I felt most sorry for my Mum who hasn't had a proper cigarette since Friday....oh, the joys of living with an addict in withdrawal:-(....because the stress sent her blood pressure and cravings through the roof! He ran around like a small child experiencing a sugar rush until he eventually exhausted himself and flopped to the ground allowing my mum to pick him up and carry him home. Phew! Tragedy averted though he came perilously close to the road this time only to be frightened by a rather large Labrador. Suffice to say I missed my 12pm deadline by some margin, thank goodness for Sky+:-)
Apart from that little episode I'm feeling part of the human race again and managed to refresh my memory with yesterday's comments.
Beth, similarly with you and Yvonne, I too struggle with my concentration levels after my head injury- I have short term memory problems thus reading a book is a real trial rather than joy anymore. I was brought up going to the library and always had a book in my hand so I miss it dreadfully. Your confidence can plummet as a result of ill health that's why this blog is so important, it gives you a boost like no other.
Lynn, loved your poem too, brought back fond memories, boy we're a cultured lot!
Rebecca, meeting up with Yvonne has been banned by my Mum in fear that we will get ourselves arrested, a likely scenario I fear, we would bring mayhem to Ally Pally so it would be only fair to give them prior warning so that they could take precautionary measures and increase the police presence:-) it wouldn't be the same without you though honey cos you are just as dangerous to know I feel:-)
Maureen and Patricia, did you manage to work your way through that vat of Bailys? Happy Birthday to you too Julie Exxx
Better go, Sues just arrived in the building....

Crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxx

Good afternoon Sue,

well we have been spoiled with seeing you in so many shows and more yet to come.
Have enjoyed all the demoes, the presenter does not butt in rather is there for the price details and it is so refreshing not to have the hard sell, "Oh goodness me we are now at 60% gone" "Get it now or someone will pinch it from your basket!"

Todays card is absolutely marvellous. Love everything about it.

Hello sue an everyone your card today is beautiful I love the flowers an the background is really nice I made a blue an white card with that background die for my granddaddy birthday an he as still got it up on a little stand now an his birthday was back in May he won't let nan take it down.i loved the show on TV last night I have never seen you do backgrounds like that it looked so pretty, I asked nan if we hav them inks an sh said we only got one so far but now that she as seen how good they are she will buy more as we go along. I have watched 3 shows this morning an I loved them all I can't watch the 1 on now because dad said he recording it for me so the girl can watch film in my room to get there out from mums feet.

My holiday in Devon was ok it was not the same without nan there because she as been on every holiday park
holiday we have ever had an she even took us lol to turkey last year well not my baby sister macie because she was still in mums belly then. At the park they did a sort of craft making thing for the little ones to do fo 2 hours twice while we was there, mum made me go because the girls grace an Lilly wanted to go Lilly is only 6 an she kept telling the teacher your doing it wrong my nan does it like this or like that an the lady said no you have to do it like this an lilly started crying an sayid she wanted to go back to the house because the lady was try to make them craft rong it was so funny she was standing there with her hands on her hips saying I am not happy I no how you stick paper on top of pare an it's called Matt an lay the lady was looking at her like she was mad. I tried to tell the lady lilly is only trying to copy what nan does an the lady said well later I am going to how you all how to do die cuts an Lilly jumped up an said I can show you how to do that we use a GC to do our die cutting an we have boxes an boxes of dies not just one packet like you have. I no it prop don't sound funny to you but it was when you was there seeing my 6 year old sister telling the lady no your not doing that right an showing her what to do with the rubber mat. Mum said she is either a little crafter in the making or just a bossy little moo.

Grandad as not been doing to good even tho ban had been saying he was ok Dad said that cos she didn't want to worry an spoil our trip. All his hair as gone now an he don't weigh 17 an half sone anymore he now only weighs 12 stone an few pound because he not able to eat much any more. But he as got some appointments for the hospital in the next 2 weeks 1 to see if the growth got any smaller but the clinical nurse said it won't of because they had to stop chemo an the other appointment is to see if he might be well enough to start it again but nan said he won't start it again not now an the other appointment is to see the main doctor to see if he is willing to try an remove it oh an if they said yes an removed it then he would have chemo an another 1 called radio treatment and nan said he would let them start the chemo then because it would mean he could get better with the cancer taken out. I hope it as got smaller become nan needs to hear some good news dad said if they didn't have any bad luck they wouldn't have any luck at all I don't really get that because nan says she is very lucky to have us all.

Nan said I not meant to right to much because it's meant to be about sues cards I have only wrote lots today to tell you about my holiday I won't right this npmuch next time. I have been reading looking back at all the blogs but it's taking for ever thank you everyone who had been asking after me an wishing good for my holiday an also sending my grandad good thoughts you are all very kind I have wrot down loads to read to grandad.
