Not Older, Just Better

Good Sunday morning all!  I do love the sentiment on today's card, don't you! LOL  I used the Canadian Background outer cutting die to create a frame and backed it with another piece of milk card for a tone on tone look.  However, because there isn't a separate  die to actually cut the inside of the frame, I used the smaller die in the set as a guide and cut around it with a craft knife to create the opening in the frame.  With the straight edged rectangular shape, it was quite easy to do and gives you just one more way to actually use your dies!  I cut two of the Elegant Lace edger in coconut white card and added them to the inside of the top and bottom part of the frame.  This worked well since the sentiment was narrow and would have looked quite dwarfed in the frame opening, plus they add a bit of interesting detail to the card as well.  I stamped my sentiment and placed the frame with mounting foam on the back, over it so it was raised for dimension.  Next, I cut several of the Perfect Peonies Complete petal out of coconut white card.  I inked the matching Shaded Peony stamps and placed the die cuts on to the stamp and pressed well to transfer the design.  You can also stamp them, then cut them out using a template, both methods work very well.  I inked the edges with Picked Raspberry distress ink and added Black Dazzlers to the centres.  I tied a messy bow out of ant. white satin ribbon and added it to the bottom of the frame.  I seated the three flowers on top and then added white flatback pearls to the centres of all the frame sections as accents.  Finally, I finished the card with a white mat which I pierced, a thin back mat and a larger white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  8" in size.

Just a quick reminder that my Hochanda tv shows are today at 9am to 11am (loads of demos in this 2 hour slot), 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm.  I will be showing you all sorts of things to do with the Festive die range!  I hope you can tune in to watch on either  SKY 663, FREEVIEW 39,  orFREESAT 822 or even on your PC at www.hochanda.com    The Hochanda website is now up and running as well!  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue
This is a gorgeous card using one of my favourite dies and I love the peony flowers in Pickled Raspberry.
I have the dies so am looking forward to making my version soon!
I have had to record most of your shows so am looking forward to seeing them tomorrow sometime.
It was good to seeing you back on our screens again.

Evening Sue
Oh wow. I love this card. I absolutely adore the peonies (which I have) when you use the stamp to die for (which I need to have)! White with just a hint of colour and the hint of colour is a vivid one and gives such a striking card.
Just watched your last show.I have watched them all and you have been fantastic and look absolutely fabulous. I know that Hochanda seem to have a few issues and teething problems but I am sure that these will be ironed out in good time. Problems aside you seem to be ever so relaxed and therefore your demos have been so informative and a delight to watch.
I would have commented earlier but I had a problem with my laptop this morning and it was just not doing as it was told. This resulted in my having to watch you in my bedroom as the tv I have there has freeview. We have Virgn on our main tv so I do hope that maybe Hochanda will be added to the channels sooner rather than later. I sat in bed each time you were the star attraction with plumped up pillows and a delicious milky coffee. Needs must. Watched the last show on line x
Julie - Happy Birthday. Age is just a number - women are like a good wine - we get better with age. Embrace it and make sure you age disgracefully x
Beth B and Rebecca - meet in secret? Absolutely not. I would be too afraid for my sanity. I think it would be wise to have the rest of you Wisonettes present when we do meet as you could be witness to young Lorraine attempting to drag me down to her mucky level x
Lorraine - does your fluffy friend ever walk out unaided or unaccompanied? I have such a vision in my head of you in your pj's but they are not silk I can assure you. It seems like some of our Wisonettes are eager for a meeting of great minds. I think they want to see for themselves that there is definitely a good cop bad cop in this relationship and I'm not the bad - need I say more? I think your mum has the right idea. She realises that you would lead me, (a completely innocent and well behaved individual) on a path of destruction to a point of no return. Do you think you will ever be allowed out to play? If the opportunity ever arises that you manage to sneak out and make it to our neck of the woods give us plenty of warning. That way I can rally the troups so I have a entourage of Wilsonettes for the sole purpose of my own protection x
Molly - I love your story about the craft class on holiday - I would have been in hysterics. Little ones speak the truth and there is not a lot anyone can do about that. So sorry that your granddad is not so good. I don't think anyone minds you sharing with us on this blog. Many of us comment about Sue's cards then write about many other things. Lots of love to you, your nan and granddad and the rest of your family x
As someone mentioned - only 6 more sleeps to Ally Pally. Resting up this week is the plan so that I don't wake on Saturday morning unable to go. I would be so disappointed. I realise that many of you will be visiting. Is there a plan of action for us all to meet up on the day or is it a free for all?
All for now lovely people
Crafty hugs

I couldn't resist popping back in 1 more time after seeing the last of Sue's shows (at least part of it).it was so fun and I am excited to share with someone how much I enjoyed it! The last card on the episode was the only one I saw, but what a beauty it was! Loved the embossing topped with guilding wax topped with glitter! Be still my heart! Also loved the later tip about putting card back in EF slightly off from previous emboss for variation. Once again Sue, you really do give us ideas to get even more value for our money! That's much appreciated, especially since I want all your dies (but oh dear, you already have more than 200 in your collection? I'm in trouble! I hope to catch later viewings of the shows I missed. I think Alex (spelling?) is a dear. And you'll be back in a couple weeks? Yay! However since I have to watch them on the website, it's wreaking havoc on my sleep schedule with the time difference. Maybe by then they'll have their viewing schedule updated with titles for what's being re-airied and when. Best I can tell, that is not the case right now and I just have to get lucky to catch you when tuning in. Since they don't sell to the U.S. at least I won't be missing out on specials.
Thanks to those of you who defined VAT for me...so Beth you are just a spring chicken! Dont believe a word your kiddies tell you to the contrary, but do share the stories :-)
Lorraine & Yvonne so glad the rest of us won't be missing out on any of your witty repartee! If you ever do have the opportunity to meet in real life, I agree there should be a chaperone and extra police presence (if for nothing else than crowd control). I'm honored you think I may have a bit of dangerousness in me myself, but it would probably only apply to my sometimes foul mouth (which I try to hide whilst posting- I don't want to get kicked out!). Oh the other danger I might present would be that of wetting myself from laughing! Yvonne I'm not entirely convinced you are the innocent being drug down the dangerous path in this dynamic duo you two have going. But you keep telling yourself that ok lol!
Molly what a dear you are and I love reading your posts. Also loved the story about your little sister! So much crafting knowledge at such a young age! You've described it so well I can picture her trying to explain to the teacher how to do it right! My heart goes out to you and your family during these hard times with your Grandad's health. Your nan has a lovely outlook on life by focusing on how lucky she feels to have her family. Big hugs!
I'm sure there's lots more I wanted to say (isn't there always?) but my brain is fuzzy from lack of sleep!
In case I haven't mentioned it in a while, I love this blog and feel fortunate to partake!

I haven't caught any of your shows as we have been flying home today, the house does seem quiet without our daughter ! Still, the bottles of whisky travelled home safely - we had to open one to check if was ok!
Take care

Happy birthday Julie, hope you have had a wonderful day - as a fellow 50 year old it's not too bad! Xxxx

This is so beautiful ...

Absolutely loved all the shows today - it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday watching so many fabulous demos. I think you have a new fan in the bubbly presenter - she was so enthused !!

Another very pretty card Sue. I had a wonderful day today watching my favourite crafty person on TV. Much better format without the presenters frantically reeling off mountain of products and constantly interrupting demos. I am sure Hochanda is going to be a great success. I loved all your demos today and can't wait to see more in 2 weeks. Hope to see you at Ally Pally. I have got my ticket already but may not be able to go as the house is on the market and there may be viewings next weekend. Just thought I would let you know so you don't think I am avoiding you. I hope the house sells soon so I can bring out all my crafting stuff and have loads of fun making a mess again.
