For You

Hello crafters!  I hope you all  enjoyed the quick die launch this past weekend! It was fabulous to see so many new names too, I do hope that you will stay and become part of my lovely blog family.   I really enjoyed reading all the lovely comments that were left, thank you so much!  I will get the drawings done and post the winners later on today so don't forget to check back!  For today's card, I started with the Portuguese Background and cut it in white, using just the outer cutting die.  I backed it with aqua card and used the next size down in the set to cut the inside shape and also added some piercing to the edge.  This created my background which I added mounting foam to and placed it over a piece of white card.  I cut the Lisbon die in white card and backed it with white.  I used the next die shape down in that set to cut the next layer out of white card and cut it into a frame exposing the centre.  I used the Sintra die for the next layer and cut it out of aqua card and recessed it inward.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it with the oval from the centre of the Lisbon die and created a faux mat for it by drawing around it and hand cutting it.  I made several flowers by stamping the Shaded Peony stamp and heat embossing them in white then cutting them out with the matching Perfect Peony Complete Petal die.  I seated them on opposite edges of the Lisbon die with some Mosaic Leaves and pastel aqua Bakers Twine. I completed the card with a white paper pierced mat, a thin aqua mat and another wider white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9 1/2" in size.

The winner of the Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Lynn Dalby!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card!

Hopefully I will see you all later on today for the die winners!!  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue.
Congrats Lynn on winning a beautiful card.

Thank you Sue for a lovely few days showing us yet again what a fantastic crafter/designer you are. It takes a true crafter to know what we need then you design it. You have given us some fantastic new tools this weekend to help us turn plain old card into something wonderful and make those happy that we make cards for - thank you.

I really hope that after ALL your dedication and love for craft that the new names we have seen over the past few days KEEP returning after the drawer for a giveaway die has been announced, its always so nice to see and read appreciation for what you do for us Sueaholics, so I look forward to hopefully see the blog comments stay in the 200's (although past experiance after a new collection this never happens) which is such a pitty ! So come on guy's stick with Particraft now you have started leaving your comments, its such an amazing place.

This is such a delight to start our new week, one of my favourite pastel shades and the Sintra die is one of the dies that followed me home last week, its such a pretty die, im so glad it ended up home with me.
I will wish you a good day whatever your plan's are Sue, and to my dearest friends, no names mentioned, thank you xx

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful stunning card with us this morning Sue...this is the sort of card that I fell in love with when I first saw you demonstrating...I have all of the products used in your card except for the Sintra die as I’m still slowly collecting to complete each of my sets...one of the most useful is the Peony stamp & matching die as they really are versatile & easy to stamp & match up with the die. Wasn’t able to comment on your gorgeous new launch set until last night due to holiday but I did have a wow for them all especially the lattice snowflake & star spray.

But then since I first saw you demonstrate & joining this lovely blog you have never failed to Wow me on all counts with your card & die designs & of course not forgetting the fabulous hints & tips to help us in our creativities.

The Cornish Holiday....instead of 7 hours (incl stops for girls), it took us 11 ¾ hours to arrive...accident & burn out on M4 (what’s new) all lanes closed for ages so everyone out of our cars walking around as so hot...luckily our girls had the Lintram crate, crate fans & crate water bottles to keep them cool & hydrated. We also had chiller cool mats for the girls but by the time we got to our cottage the 2nd had split & girls were covered in yucky white sticky stuff...so instead of unpacking & eating we spent over an hour grooming & washing this stuff out of them.

But the cottage was lovely with views to die for & the peace & tranquillity 2nd to none. On our Anniversary (Sun) we had ordered a picnic to eat at Cardingham woods, yeah you guessed, it rained & we ate in the car...but it was lovely & we laughed it off. Then it poured down heavy all day on Thurs & we got soaked many times, eventually we gave up & went back to cottage where I lit my first ever wood burner, so cosy all snuggled up together watching the flames.

The best place we went to was Bellever woods in Devon...Hannah is slightly apprehensive at new faces & places but here she was so calm & both girls loved it (guess where I would like us to retire to...LOL) we sat by the peaceful flowing river & Steve & I ate our true Cornish pasties from Looe..Yum yum!!! So we decided to go back on our last day...lovely again but we drove into a thick blanket of fog on Dartmoor...not great for Mr B driving but I loved it, I grew up in Devon then mainly in Cornwall so knew how quickly the weather can change or the fog can roll in without warning.

It had been raining overnight but still beautiful...until the sole of my 16 year old hiking boot came off...right in the middle of the soggy field by the river...Yuk!!! Mr B for some reason couldn’t stop laughing...if only the shoe was on the other foot...LOL... anyways we had our picnic (me with soaking foot) then went into Tavistock to find new footwear...gosh the prices £80.00+...could have brought most of this new die launch...Boo Hoo...LOL...

Guess I needed a 2nd week to get over the first 9 days...lol

Congratulations to Lyn for winning the Wed Giveaway..What a beauty to take pride in your craft room...

Not had chance to read all the comments as no internet whilst away so I sincerely hope that everyone is well & happy...sending love ‘n’ Hugs to you Sue & to all lovely Wilsonettes...take care Beth B x x x x x

Really enjoyed seeing the Christmas dies over the weekend. We should never be lost for ideas with so many to choose from, and yours are so different from many other Christmas dies out there Sue.

Today's card is lovely. Beautiful colours and so much going on there, yet without seeming too much. I tried using the peony stamps but didn't like the result I got. Looking at your peonies today I see where I went wrong. I think I tried to layer up too many petals and it was just too much. Will try with fewer layers next time - less is sometimes more, as they say!

Morning Sue
Exquisite. Like a beautiful cupcake, expertly and delicately decorated. You are like a master pâtissière who takes some ingredients and produces an exquisite original delight. Of course the raw ingredients are of exceptional quality.
I am beginning to realise that almost everything I say revolves around food - what does that say about me?
Congratulations Lynn - lucky you.
My fingers are firmly crossed in the hope that my name will appear later - one can live in hope.

Diane - Thank you for your good wishes yesterday. Jake and I entered into the spirit of things with great enthusiasm and managed incredibly well with our marathon roast dinner tournament. We then watched How to train your dragon 2. A 23 year old and his mum spending quality time together stuffing our faces and enjoying a cartoon. There would have been chocolate involved but neither of us could face it after consuming such an enormous banquet. Believe you me Jake and I turning down chocolate is a phenomenon which occurs about as often as an eclipse. For the record, How to train your dragon 2 is definitely worth a look x

Lorraine - your compliments are accepted gratefully. Personally I think I deserve an OBE. Dirty Dancing is one of my all time favourite films. Lusting after Patrick Swayze being a favourite past time of mine. However, watching Dirty Dancing with my son is not the best option as I cannot give Patrick the full attention he deserves. How to train your dragon seemed a much more suitable option as one would find it very difficult to have feelings of desire over an animated character. Lol. I often think that cats may have been a better option than children but probably would have cost me more if they had a liking for prawns x

Maria - I'm all for Toby Carvery - always tastes better if someone else has cooked x

Beth B - your holiday sounds very much like many a holiday I have experienced. Without mishaps it would be boring. Lol. Love Cornwall. Many a happy holiday spent there as a child and a few in later years. Know what you mean about needing time to recover. Put your feet up and have a Sue blockbuster session catching up on all the fabulous cards x

Have a lovely day everyone. Sun shining and blue sky here.

Hi Sue, a beautiful bright and cheerful card to complement our 4th sunny day in a row (almost unheard of here lol). I love aqua almost as much as I love lilac so this card is right up my street.
Thoroughly enjoyed the week-end posts, thank you for all your hard work.

Lynn - congratulations on being the Wednesday winner.
Good Luck to everyone in the draw.

Hi Sue
Beautiful card in a beautiful colour. Thank you again for a lovely three days celebrating your new dies and good luck everyone

Molly sorry to hear your grandad wasn't too good with the chemo, fingers crossed his sickness goes away soon
Norah, wish Rory a belated happy birthday hope he gets to celebrate it today and do hope Kirsten is home from hospital

Thank you to everyone who wished my lovely little granddaughter Sarah a happy birthday on Saturday, we had a family party and she got lots of presents, even a Barbie in a wheelchair just like hers. News from GOSH was mixed, orthopaedic surgeon going replace metal rods in her back with ones up to her shoulder blades, results of the sleep study were terrible, not getting enough oxygen and co2 levels too high, so they are going to try her on a cpap machine to see if that helps. Now we just have to wait for a date for the surgery

Hugs and best wishes everyone

Hello Sue.

Lovely card. I think this is a great demonstration of how a larger card can be made using the same dies. The Lisbon and Sintra dies are lovely and work together so well. I think the Peonies are always winners and the colour is so fresh. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking for myself thought I'm sure many will agree, I hope you know how much we appreciate your skill and generosity of time and knowledge. Thank you for a great launch.

Best wishes.

Good morning Sue and her crafty crew!

What a splendid card to begin a brand new week with. I love the colour tones, it is so fresh and summery, a nice contrast to the weekends festivities. I'm afraid that I don't have any of these fabulous dies, something that I will remedy just as soon as I purchase my Christmas collection- this list takes priority at the minute and it is so long that it will be the focus of my attention for a while yet!
This background die is simply stunning, I love the layering effect and the double piercing layers add a further dimension to the proceedings. I really must get the full petal peonies soon, I just adore the combination of the stamp against the coloured card. A triumph in design Sue, well done you!
I am still coming down from the new die launch, I have been perusing the craft websites trying to prioritise which dies I want most desperately, however it is such an impossible task. I simply cannot narrow it down to less than 25 at the moment and I don't think my bank manager, or my mum would be too chuffed if I splurged out on all of them! I find little and often to be a wiser option, that way I can fool them, and myself , that I'm not actually spending obscene amounts on pieces of intricate metal, beautiful though they may be:-)
Congrats to Lynn for being this weeks lucky recipient, and best of luck to all my buddies who took the time to wish our lovely Sue good luck with her launch-I do hope many of you stay because commenting and reading all the great anecdotes on her wonderful blog is the highlight of my day!
Molly, so sorry to hear that your Grandads chemo is proving difficult for him, I do hope that he feels the benefit soon. Good luck to you all sweetie, try to keep positivexxx
Beth, so glad to have you back with us, refreshed from your break away. I'm afraid no holiday passes without incident, does it, but you bore it with your usual good humour-though I too would have been mighty peeved to have to spend £80+ on hiking boots when Sue has just launched her new Christmas selection:-(
Yvonne my dear, I think we should put all of this talk of food to bed now, I think that I have put on a stone just talking about it! I am glad you managed to wade through your roast dinner though, it sounded beautiful. Your right of course, Patrick Swayze should be appreciated in private, not in the company of no.1 son-it wouldn't do for him to see mum all breathless and giggly at the sight of Jonnys rippling muscles and hip action! It made me feel 13 again, the age I was when I first enjoyed it at the cinema, ahhh, those were the days!
Another sunny day in Stirling, going to abandon all plans of ironing and enjoy our taste of an Indian summer:-)

Loads of love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxxx

Hi Sue,
Thank you for a wonderful blogging weekend. I even managed to introduce your blog to some people whom I met at a family wedding as they wanted to know how I had managed to cut out such an intricate background on the card I had made for the bride and groom. I was tempted to take all of the credit but thought better of it as we need all the Wilsonettes we can get and gave them your blog address.
The Aqua card is so pretty with the white and I think that your Poruguese dies are my favourite, favourites.
Congrats to Lynne. Enjoy your card.

Love this aqua and white card. You do recessed areas so well. I am still struggling with recessing my layers. I must work harder. I manage to do the "built up layers" just fine. It's just I can not seem to "see" the recessed part when I am visualizing the design. Maybe if I do the steps with one of your videos I will get it correct! I did some piercing over the week end and thought of you. My wrist, hands, fingers, shoulders, and back where all in a stressed hurt from piercing some card layers. I know you find piercing "relaxing". I wish it were the same for me! Wishing all a wonderful week.
