Congratulations

Good morning all!  The Beverly Hills die set from the California Collection was used here as a really quick background.  I covered a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I pulled the other side of the backing paper off and laid out all the die cuts (eight of them) on to the sticky sheet.  I cut several in half to go around the edges of the card.  Once they were in place I used Persian Dawn gilding flakes and a rubit scrubit pad to move the flakes into all the exposed sticky areas.  I stamped my sentiment (by Justrite stamps) and heat embossed it with silver shine powder.  I cut it into a strip.  I attached it at the bottom of the card with mounting foam.  I seated three silver ribbon roses and surrounded them with Faux Quilled leaves, a messy bow tied from white seam binding, a silver cord bow. and a pearl spray as embellishments.  The card was finished with a double white mat and on the inside layer I used Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue and dotted the edge.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and everyone. Gorgeous card, yet another technique to have a try at. My French collection dies arrived yesterday, have had to hide them from the family though as all I hear is "why do you need more"!!! The answer is "because they're Sue Wilson designs and I do!" They're even more stunning in "real life", can't wait to play; they really will mix and match.

Morning Sue. Morning Wilsonettes. WOW - a real Wonder Of Wilson card this Thursday morning, but it screams disaster to me ! Why ? Well, 1. Sticky paper. 2. Pesky laughing at me flakes ! 3. Little stubbie fingers lol. I just know and can see it now, just about to lay sticky sheet on card and it slips out of position ( card and sticky paper wasted) once I DID get the sticky sheet to 'play nicely' I see beautiful die cuts slip from my numb 'stubbies' and landing just where I DONT want them ! Then the flakes - say no more lol ! Its such a pretty card Sue but I know Id end up crying in frustrstion lol with a whole pile of sticky paper and card in my paper re-cycle bin : (
I admire any of our lovely Sue - ettes that can replicate this almost with their eyes closed, you will have a stunning card at the end : )
Pam - hope each day you feel a little better hon.
Janet how did you get on trying your EF sandwitches, hope you got it sorted.

To all lovely ladies finding Thursday a struggle please take all the hugs I have for you, and hope you feel a little better as the day goes on.
Whatever your plans for the day, have a good one.

Love you.

morning Sue
Today's gift is very very Edwardian - I can see the covering on Drawing Room walls etc.
I love this look and those gilding flakes are just so so beautiful (I've now got the hang of them so it's flakes galore!)
In fact I've just finished my Eldest Daughter's wedding anniversary card using this die - using the colour scheme of red/white. I always try to do these colours for her as they were the ones they used on their special day - even Quin and Molly their rescued working collies had red ribbons through their collars.
Pippin her black (rescued of course) just fled upstairs and stayed there just refusing to come down. We all went back to their home and had a big BBQ and party in the evening after the service and Wedding Meal so for Pippin there were far too many strangers invading his home and as he is getting on in years - 14 now - he just doesn't do parties etc.

Steph - I'm sorry I missed your post the day before yesterday - I really must get some new eyes put behind my glasses!!!

Sandra - SUMMER HAS ARRIVED at long last here in Burgundy - we have now had two whole days of sunshine wall to wall and temps around 30 so it will be thunderstorms in a couple of days and then back to summer days - hopefully now until the beginning of September. The grapes wouldn't like me treading them they just might get the taste of metal from my knees lol.

Norah hope your legs are a little better today - I'd offer the loan of mine but you wouldn't benefit from them - although you would have the wonderful knowledge of knowing that they both are quite rich being titanium metal and if your other half is like mine always says that he will trade them in for scrap when the time comes!! Don't we just love our other halves!!

Thank you ladies your tips re efolders worked for is all set for go and the mammoth task of Christmas cards.

Hope everyone is OK - If you have any plans for today hope they all work out and see you tomorrow.

Good Morning Sue & Friends,
I love the he card and want to have a go but I am a little confused............. So do I stick the die cuts on the adhesive sheet and then add gilding flakes to rest of the exposed areas? On Sue's card it looks like the Gilding Flakes are on the other side! If I had he tried to do that the a Gilding flakes would be all stuck to those intricate die cuts!? Anyone help?
Well it is already 'scorchio'! Here this morning, I am laid waiting for my pain meds to kick in and feel like I am suffocating! windows are open a little put don't like opening more than security latch for two reasons .... 1 we live in a bungalow and I panic like crazy about someone getting in!
2 A week or so ago Bella & Milo discovered the back garden (after escaping) they now desperately want to get out there, but I am not ready for it yet as we are surrounded by other cats, 2 of which are giant and frequent our garden regularly, so big that they even chased mr daughters dog away! So I don't think they would survive long, plus jm we go on holiday in a couple of weeks and my older Son Matt is going to look after them, he is a farmer so it's a busy time for him so I don't think he will have time to chase round the garden with them,p so my plan is to slowly introduce them to the outside world maybe with a harness and lead to keep them safe, after all they are only 4 months old!
Well I hope you all manage to find somewhere cool to sit, keep hydrated ladies!
Big hugs
Sandra xxxxx

Hello Sue
This is a great idea although like other Wilsonettes I am sure I would have a problem in getting everything perfectly lined up! However, practice makes perfect and you could have a try first with some die cuts of copy paper and then stuck on to another sheet of copy paper sprayed lightly with a little spray mount. I am going to have a trial run today like this to save wasting nice card and paper!
Your card is beautiful and would be perfect for many different occasions.
I know many of us have suggested you have a rest after your travels but I guess you will be busy preparing for Sunday's Tool Shed!

Well this is stunning and as \I have a Golden Wedding and Silver Wedding Anniversary cards to make for family members, guess what I'll be doing next week.
I say next week because the schools break up tomorrow and after 26 years working at a University, last September my daughter started working in a school and gets all the school holidays, so no early 6.30 am starts and clock watching for school finishing time, no volunteering in school, although it's finishing off the cross stich for the 6-7 year olds this afternoon.
I'll be able to craft to my little heart's content, along with washing, ironing and gardening!!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Oh how i love this card as now that i have discovered the secret to the hi/lo technique i am going to have fun. The colours that you have used in the card and gilding flakes just shout out wedding or anniversary as it is just so perfect for that type of wonderful day. I hope that you have made it back home safely having enjoyed what Scotland has to offer.
Dawn S, i am sad enough to have them all down on to a database in the various makers and then in numerical order. Spellbinders are in the database in separate columns i.e S2,s3,s4 etc. and then in numerical order in each column. I have them sorted into storage folders for the smaller makers collections but needed 2 boxes for my Spellbinders. My embossing folders are on another page on the database under the same system. Sue's in here as they are easy reach and lets face it i am not the only one i bet that reaches for a Sue first before any other.
Ha ha CraftySueToo, i can feel a Norah moment in your household when they are "hidden"" shall we say and then we can quite truthfully say "Och, i have had them for ages" as i have your family's identical twins in reaction.
Steph, roll up a piece of tape that you use to keep your dies in once place and stick it gently to the back off your card thus keeping in in one place temp. Cut just enough of the sticky sheet to cover the area you need. Card will stay at piece and you have a more manageable size of sticky. The tape comes off the back of your card again fine. I used a piece of tape that i had well used to hold the dies on card so it was just enough to keep it still, hope it works for you flower.
Janet(Ecco) i've heard of getting you money's worth or money back scheme's but i think that would be taking it a bit far. I think your hubby must have the same warped sense of humour my dear daddy had. Folk out side the family didn't know if he was serious or not. I bet you set the scanners going off at the airports big style.
Lindsay, does your farmer do bales or those big rolls of hay? Jim and i used to love making houses out of the bales, that was the carefree years that we had fun all around, not many toys but a garden that stretched for miles. I don't think the farmer was too happy that our "garden" was his fields, and the wood and burn(stream to our English friends) where we had a rope swing(well a piece of rope wit a log tied to it). Hope that you get the hay done soon and then you can may be have a play.
Pam, i have a whole load of long knitting needles should you need to scratch an itch that you can't get to, as i know just how annoying it can be. Kirsten found them so useful in her 5 times that she has broken a wrist or elbow.
What a glorious day that we have here at the Ochils, with little wispy clouds dancing across the sky and my hills just basking in the warmth. Now why can't the eejits that want to go hill walking ill prepared not go on days like this when they are not going to suffer from hypothermia at the top and they can see for miles around. A climb and a picnic up them would make for a blissful day, away from all the everyday intrusions, oh how i miss my legs behaving for that chance once more.
Have a great day everyone with gentle hugs to all our fragile friends that are not so clever feeling the now for any reason.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

This is gor-ge-ous!!
I like the gilding flakes BG.
I did my own version of your similar card with iced snow glitter jewels. The A5 card I made was really not big enough to do the die justice. Needless to say it didn't look as good as yours but nice just the same and I was pleased :)

Gorgeous card, Sue, always wonder at how you place the die cuts so accurately on this sort of design - don't think I could do it in one hit - those sticky sheets grab before you can think!! Love the embellishment.

Hi Sue. Ooooh this is a gorgeous card today !! I see you have used the die from the Beverly Hills collection. This die set is on my long wish list still !! But I do have the San Francisco die set and I think I could use this instead. I only own one pot of gilding flakes so far and they are the Persian Dawn ones !! I am starting to feel a little better today and may have a go at this beautiful card over the next few days, so many thanks to you Sue for all your wonderful inspiration !! I think the only thing I would be tempted to do is add a little pearl to each of the die cut centres !! I would also make my own Roses with your beautiful Roses die set too !! The next card I need to make is a Christening card for this Saturday. (My new little Nephew on hubby's side of the family.) I am going to use a baby topper inside the Tuscany die, using its ouside filigree edge to layer and frame it. I am going to make two die cuts and off set them, one from Periwinkle Blue and the other from Colbolt Blue with a white background. ( I always think all these things out and try to plan for when I feel better !! ) Card making really keeps me going, as does this wonderful blog, the wonderful people on it,
and my crafting hero Sue !!
Thank you Sue and all the wonderful Wilsonettes, lots of love to everyone on this beautiful sunny day love Tres x x x

Hi Sue, this reminds me of a previous card which I think you called Sparkling Lace with iced snow instead of the gilding flakes! It had a lovely pink felt flower at the top! Can you tell it was a favourite? Lol . I have made that several times but always in pink! This one is a little bigger and looks gorgeous using the gilding flakes. I will give it a try too . I find if I cut everything to size beforehand and lay out the pieces before I introduce the " sticky" - then I'm more confident it will work. Also the little die pieces can be moved - just don't press them down until happy. I hope this helps someone!
Sandra - you can easily do this - I just know you can. Gilding flakes will only stick to sheet not to Sue's lovely die cuts - as you put it. Let us know how you get on! x
Norah - always good to know the sun is shining on your Hills! Beautiful here today too - very hot already.
Janet - so pleased summer has arrived in Burgundy. Enjoy the lovely sunshine - and some wine and cheese!
Lynne - you have my sympathy living bales of hay in this heat! I was feeling a bit grumpy about ironing! x
Love to Pam, Steph, Tres, Anne, Lynda, Mrs B, Tandy,
Gail, Julie , Brenda, and special hug for Robbie.
Love to all, especially you Sue. You must be really tired! Myra x

Hi Sue

Wow, the white cuts on the gilding flake look stunning. I have Hollywood and I'm sure some of the old Spellbinders motifs would look great done like this. I'm not giving up on having a play this afternoon, everything is ready, just need to put it all in a bag and choose a bit of entertainment. It's all catching up with me now and I'm recharging on the sofa with a very strong coffee and waiting for some medicine to work whilst fighting an overwhelming urge to go and lay down on my side and sleep- I dare not! I have to be up at 5:30am, that's the middle of the night for me!!! If I sleep now I will not feel tired at all and finally sleep about half an hour before I need to get up! Coffee and crafts will see me through, even if it's not at the table. I have adapted some crochet hooks and have a summer top project on the go that should be finished by next summer!

Sandra, I live in a bungalow too and I don't leave any big windows open at night unless Mr WheelyBad is here or Billy and I are in the same room. 30kg of big scruffy mutt is a great security system. He does a great impersonation of a rabid wild dog if anyone walks past at night and so much as whispers (Billy, not Mr Wheelybad!). My neighbours love him as it makes them feel safe too, and they excuse the odd night he goes nuts because he's seen a cat 6 houses down in return. Win, win! My little bungalow does do a great impersonation of a greenhouse so you have my sympathy! Good reminder too for everyone, however active they are, to stay hydrated.

Lindsay M I hope you get the bales in ok. It'll be extra hard working in the heat AND against the clock, Mr WheelyBad mentioned a couple of days ago he'd seen the rape being harvested before it either dries out or got saturated. I hope you'll still have time to craft though!

Pam, you and Robbie are still in my thoughts. I hope you are recovering well and Robbie sounded like is approaching rehab with a maturity and positivity that is truly humbling. Best wishes to you both.

Lancashire Steph my one tip with sticky sheets is to peel a corner, lay it on an oversized piece of card and trim the card up after, I think if I tried to replicate this later I'd stick my cuts on after with cosmic shimmer glue or similar, something with some wiggle time or just go random directly on the sheet with a smaller shape. I have to admit that with 90% of cards I make almost as much paper or card ends up in the bits box or recycling bin. I clear the bits box out reasonably regularly and any bits/strips I'm not going to use I donate, whether to rehab charities, my friends girl guides group or to parents I know for their kids to make collages/pictures during school hols. I even find that some groups will pick up if you can't get out. Makes room for nice new card, warm happy feeling for helping and the recycling bin isn't as full either!

Janet, your comment on your husband reminded me of my best friend, he passed away many years ago. He had a very straightforward sense of humour- Suffolk humour! He'd tell me (Suffolk accent time) "if you was 'n 'orse theyda shot ya by now!". Mr WheelyBad is more careful, if he takes the mickey he makes sure he's a) out of range b) I'm not holding a dog toy that could be used as a projectile and c) I'm not in my chair as 9/10 of his toes must be flat by now and he'd rather not make it a round 10! Humour is as important as craft to keep things in perspective for me.

As is my "little" man. Not enjoying the heat. Finished my coffee now so I'm going to give him a quick spritz and sort that bag out for tomorrow. At least I might get time to check in tomorrow morning at silly a.m. If I'm home and coherent on Saturday I shall look forward to the email. Sunday's tool shed is set on the sky box in case im either still in or asleep. Organised!!!

Crafty hugs everyone, enjoy the sunshine but take care in the heat. Happy Crafting
