Best Wishes

Hi bloggers!  I am jumping back to a card made with my first release of dies, which I still keep picking up time and time again, I might add!  I started with the background on this one and cut the California background out of aubergine card.  I cut the background into five strips and attached them to a piece of white card with a small gap in between each one.  I covered the entire piece with vellum to soften the colour and put it more into the background of the card.  I cut one of the borders from the California Collection out of coconut white card and glued it across the bottom of the card horizontally.  I tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and seated it upon some white tulle on the left side of the border.  Using aubergine felt from the vintage felt pack, I cut a strip, folded it in half then snipped into it all the way down the length then rolled it into a flower, adding glue to the bottom edge as I rolled.  I seated it on my bow and made two matching stick pins as well.  For the focal element, I used the Decorative Frames Set B from the California Collection with the decorative insert from the Beverly Hills set.  I stamped my sentiment using a Blue-Violet Archival ink pad, cut it out with the decorative frames from the Italian collection and inked through the die with Dusty Concord distress ink.  I cut a tag and Set B die both from the California Collection to seat my sentiment on in the centre of my focal element.  I finished the card with a double white mat with a paper pierced inner layer.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and everyone. This card is gorgeous, the vellum just gives the background a dreamy quality. The California set is a "go to" collection for me, it's just so versatile.
Norah, I hope that you are feeling better after your fall. Meg, congratulations on the birth of little Leo, he may be very early but he has a wonderful family to fight for him and neonatal medicine has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. Nanna Tina, I'm very sorry for the awful start to your day and the loss of your dear friend Max. Fingers crossed that all is well Tandy, great news about Robbie, Pam. Hugs to all in pain. Sue xxx

Hi Sue & friends,
Lovely softness of colours on today's card, that vellum makes a huge difference to the aubergine card, looks almost lilac, very pretty, I love the combination of dies you have used, I have to admit that California is my favourite set, I like them all but California is so versatile!
Oh Tina love, I am so sorry to hear about your terrible start to the day, poor Max, he is at peace now, bless him, we have been there with our dog of 14 years, they are part of your family so you still go through the grieving process, sending you big hugs xxx
Julie Laz, please try and get used to wheelchair and going out, you have nothing to be embarrassed about, I was totally housebound for over 3 years and as a result any venture past the door induced panic/anxiety attacks like you would never believe! I too like you had massive issues about using the wheelchair as some people treat you like you are mentally disabled as well as physically, I have lost count of the times a cashier has 'raised their voice to say "I'll give your change to you carer to look after"! You just gave to laugh, the joke is on them for being small minded! I had to get used it, I thought my children would hate coming anywhere with me as they would be embarrassed, but quite the opposite, they were glad I was once again joining in with them, I was 42 when I first had to use the wheelchair! Just do a little at a time, I promise it will get easier! Making yourself a prisoner in your own home has devastating mental effects, I speak from experience Julie, please just try xxx hugs xxx
Norah, you been on the garden stuff again?! Please take if easy and recover properly, hugs xx
Thank you all for your kind, supportive words over the last few days, I really do appreciate it, it's nice knowing that people care, reading the lovely comments you leave makes a 'Happy Place' in my heart! Thank you all x
Hugs to each and everyone of you,
Sandra xxx

morning Sue
I can see why you keep going back to today's gift. It's so soft and gentle and just perfect for a lady who doesn't like a lot of bling etc. I love everything about today's gift from the background through to the colour scheme.
I have a gift to make for my youngest daughter who definitely doesn't do bling in any shape or form and I think one on these lines would suit her perfectly.
I had a go yesterday trying to find inspiration for her but having made a gift and then looked back at it last night it really will not be going her way. In fact can see it going into my box of 'will do something with that later'. On the other side I did finish one for a friend using your Grand Vines/sml vines which turned out very well; even Mr E said so and I don't get many of those to the £.

Sandra - missed you yesterday unless my eyes skipped which they do these days (forming Cataracts are a pain). Hope your antibiotics have now kicked in as that infection can really bring you down.

Norah - What have you been doing? The floor is now place for a lady like you and if you need to talk to it or get to know it better just get an interpreter to do it for you. I really hope that you haven't done any serious harm and that you're feeling a little better.

Pam - What a fantastic and determined Nephew you have. As you say 'Go Robbie Go'. That's fantastic news and only one more day before Brother arrives.

Hope all are feeling OK this morning and taking care. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue. Love this gorgeous card. The aubergine is such a pretty colour. The vellum over the background is a beautiful effect, must try that. Thanks Sue. The rest of the card is also beautiful. It must be hard for you to decide which die to use : ) I have seen your wonderful Christmas dies, they are just as stunning as all of your others, didn't expect otherwise though! I love how your dies save us so much cutting, being able to cut the whole Poinsettia in one pass will make so much difference. That one is at the top of my Christmas wish list : ) All of the other dies are beautiful too. Thanks for them all. (any chance of a Snowman and Gingerbread man die next year please?)
Sending my daily hugs to you Sue, Pam and Robbie (great news about his latest achievements) Norah, bless you, I hope you are a little better today, Sandra, Pat, Meg-fingers are crossed, Tina-thinking of you today, all of my special friends and to all in need. Take care.

Hi Sue
What a stunning creation you have made for us today. Doesn't the vellum soften the Aubergine card. You teach us so many effects that it's good to revisit them once in awhile to remind us of them. Congratulations to Robbie Pam on his achievements, that's really good news. Hug to you and him as usual.
As Sandra says Julia please persevere with the wheelchair. Don't let the narrow mindless of other people put you off going out. That would be a crying shame. I know it's easy for us able bodied to say that but just remember it's a case of mind over matter. Little steps at a time and you'll get there.
Steph hope that Mrs L is making progress.
Norah hope you are feeling better today and that your hills are alive today.
Hugs to my special friends Sandra and Sue and hope your holiday shop has been completed. Off to Southmoor soon to do some crafting at the Caligraphy class. Hugs to all in need today.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a beautiful card today's prize is Sue, with the beautiful colours and textures. I love the felt flower that you have made, very tactile. When i get more back together i shall have an attempt at this beauty as it just looks terrific.
Steph, the reason that they give scant info out on a patient is that it could be anyone calling, even them knowing the voice changes nothing so half pint tells me, it is to protect the patient. I am sending wee prayers up for you and Mrs L snr, hoping that she is back home again soon well. Poor Mr L must be going through the mill the now with worry about you and his mum so sending a hug to him.
Clare W, your new found friends will be old friends before you know it, glad you had fun.
Glad you are getting better Nanna Tina as each day passes, hope that you are back to full speed soon flower but don't go too fast as we don't want you to relapse. I am so sorry you have lost Max, he must have known that he was going and wanted to say good bye. I can't see them as just, to me they are as much my baby they just have 4 legs instead of 2. I have 4 children:- Tia is 7 and has 4 legs and is chocolate coloured, then there is Rory 14, Kirsten 15, and the biggest child of all is Mr M at 52 and he is the worst.
Janet,I think it should have been the French Riviera that you vacated to from spring to autumn, you might have had more chance of having the beautiful weather.
Awh Sandra, sorry you are going through a bad time, i hope that the medication that you have got is stronger so that it can hit the infection with a blast. Hope your two administering angels are helping you get things organized for your holiday and the infection has passed before then.
Meg my dear flower, that wee champ has been called after the king of the jungle for a reason. Leo the Lion is a fighter and so will this wee mite although i am sending you and his poor parents a big hug. Please try not to worry, i know that is hard to say, but he IS going to pull through, he just got anxious to get out and see his mummy and daddy and Addenbrookes is a marvelous hospital, probably one of the top hospitals in our Country.
Julie, please don't feel embarrassed about having to use a wheel chair, it would give you such freedom and independence of at least one sort. I spent years falling outside because i wouldn't use my stick(only 1 at that time)just because of embarrassment, but not now. People either have to take me as they see me or not at all and i hope that you can one day get to this point, hugs. Reading Sandra's post i can only agree as i was exactly the same and trapped by my own making at home. I too couldn't go out the door before i started panicking and having a hard trouble just breathing, so please start to live again, don't let it pass you bye.

Wheely, i hope you have a lovely time out later with Billy and your P.A. and your new found freedom called a SCOOTER. This is going to make the biggest difference to you flower, enjoy. Hope Mr Wheely Bad has a lovely day at the fishing. It will do him good to have some time off as well.
Pam i am over the moon on reading of Robbie's progress. It might just seem small steps but it is a huge leap for him. WELL DONE ROBBIE. And you have 1 more week on my workings out until you can once again get mobile even if it is only semi with a lighter cast.
Have a few really sore bits from my up close and personal floor inspection the other day, and i have some lovely colours added to my peely wally skin colouring, you know like purples, yellows, some browns, not colours that i would have personally picked as they sort of clash with each other. Why is it that when you have a sore area, it is always that area that hits something as if to remind you "Hey i'm here"? So very glad for solid unmovable furniture as it is keeping me upright going around the house at the moment, but i will get back to normal, that's if i can ever remember what normal is. The last time i had a brain scan i wondered if they actually found one there. The doc said it was but i don't think that it hung around for very long though. We are having a beautiful day here at the Hillfoots, i will try and encourage some of it to go south eastwards across to Burgandy for you Janet, but oh my hills do look pretty when the sun is out on them.
Ah well i will go and get started on the 3 cards i have to make for my friend, yesterday it was 2 until 30 minutes ago. See you all tomorrow hopefully when the sun is shining for all of you. Sending gentle hugs to all the special people that come to this blog, who without you i don't know where i would be. Thank you my gentle kind friends,
Love and crafty hugs

Hello Sue,
What a beautiful card, so much detail, a real SW masterpiece, the aubergine is just gorgeous with the added touch of misty magical vellum. In fact I have a whole draw in my paper storage cabinet for my vellum, I take it out look at it lovingly, stroke it and then return it to its home, it's so gorgeous I'm reluctant to use it! ...........Sad or what???
Hope you're having a good day, take care, love Brenda xxx
Nanna Tina, So sorry you have lost your loyal friend Max. When I was reading your message about him, I thought he wanted to say goodbye to his special friends and have you beside him. Special hugs to you both.

The pins are gorgeous too.

Good evening Sue and everyone
Such a beautiful card who would have thought that vellum would make such a difference, gives the card a really soft look, and the colours are super.

Julie you have been through so much please don't let the narrow minded people win, they have no idea what it is like. Can I suggest that rather than go out in your own town where you may meet people you know get your lovely hubby to take you somewhere else in the car and give it a go, less chance of meeting folk you know, that is what I did to build up my confidence. You don't have to go too far the first time, build your time up and just think how proud your lovely hubby would be to have you go out with him. I once said to a physio how much I hated it when people spoke down to me or ignored me, her reply was just tell them you will regard their remarks with the contempt they deserve, it works and they have no answer either! Come on brave girl you can do it, we are all supporting you just think, what have you to loose? Nothing but you have lots to gain I feel sure you hubby will be so very proud of you if you try, and you will feel so much better for doing it. Julie just say to yourself, I can and I will.

Great news of Robbie Pam he sounds a really strong boy and no mistake.

Thinking of you Tina, I know just what you are going through, gentle but bug hugs to you both.

Special hugs to Pam and Robbie, Lynda, Lindsay, Yorkielass, Steph, Norah, Tina and of course Sue.

Hi Sue

A lovely card in my favourite lovely colours of purple. I have 2 of the dies used so will give it a try when I'm back in craft land! The flower is very clever, I have had a sift through my beads to see what I have for stick pins and as the beading stuff is in the living room I could sit and do that.

We had our walk last night, I padded my powerchair seat out and back brace on so was careful. We went on a nice walk but got out late due to us finding a spillage in the cupboard so instead of thd pub I went into the co op while Alex and the dog waited and brought some baking supplies. We made apple and oat cake, with tons of dried fruit and seeds, it was nice to be 'in charge' in the kitchen as Mr W is on a schedule in the evenings. I am feeling my powerchair ride today as the local pavements are very rough but it was worth it. Mr W came back recharged and happy after a 5 1/2 tench among his catches (he went course fishing this time) and got the TV to himself as I slept through this afternoons heat. It's just thrown it down with rain and is suddenly much fresher.

Julie Laz, it is natural to be concerned about making the decision to use a wheelchair. Back in 2001, I used to destroy myself using crutches over distance. I'd literally go out on a Saturday afternoon and need a week to recover. Mr W and I had some steaming rows about it, I was 24 and very much in denial about my condition. He won it for me by telling me if I had a chair, I could take my brothers out places, they were 10 & 12 at the time and my Dad was very ill. The boys needed me to be able to look after them and take them the places my parents couldn't. A long story short it changed my life. I had more options, chair for long distance and for sitting in at the park or sea. I could then get up on sticks and kick a ball with them, we could go to football games or to fairs etc. Cos I wasn't so knackered I had more energy for them, for permitted work and for sport (which maintained muscle tone and kept me using my sticks for longer than expected). I had the odd silly person but I found that addressing them in my best bbc English soon made them think twice. You get the odd comedian (older men mostly) but I have found that nowadays people are so much more open minded. I found a lot of people in the disabled community to be lovely and very understanding to a newbie. In 13 years I only have had pure ignorance to deal with a couple of times. People will ask questions (they think they are being friendly rather than nosey!) But if you explain you use it as tiredness/ pain would otherwise mean you'd be stuck at home you'd be really surprised at how kind and understanding strangers can be. If shop assistants address your companion you reply instead, they'll think twice about doing it to the next person! It's a lot to get your head around, take time to get used to it but remember YOU use the wheelchair, the wheelchair does not use you. There are no rules saying if you go out in it, you have to stay in it, it'd be more comfy to sit in than most chairs too so you would enjoy yourself more when you are out. In 2011 when I got the powerchair it was an easier decision as I knew I'd been stuck at home for a year and I needed to be able to get out, it didn't quite work the way I wanted as I didn't forsee the disc ruptures but at least I could take the dog out every now and again! Good luck Julie and if you need any help or advice just ask honey. I am here for you. There are no silly questions, only silly answers!!! Super big hugs for you xxx

Will have to pop in a second here as I'm over my limit... bear with for a spot of cut and paste!
