More Botanical Swirls

Hi crafty friends!  Well I had wanted to show you some more ways to use the Botanical Swirl die template, but it didn't even last the first hour!  When I first laid eyes on these background dies, I was instantly smitten.  They are just my cup of tea, tickle my fancy, float my boat, I think you get what I mean.  I love the fact that you can make an entire card with just the one die if you want, or add an embellishment as I have done here.  I also love the fact that you can use all of the die, part of the die, or leave parts of the die intact as I have done here for a different look.  Great versatility with these.  Funny story, I made this flower for use on another card, then I decided to turn it into a porcelain flower by dipping it in the melted ultra thick embossing powder.  Well once I did that, it changed the colour a bit but it didn't look right on that card any longer.  So I ended up picking the colours for this card to match my left over unused flower!  It needed a home, I just couldn't set it aside and not use it, could I?  I cut the botanical swirl background out of a sort of dull turquoise card, it is a very muted tone.  I decided to put it against a really warm brown background to show off the cut outs I left in tact.  By the way, the edges of these dies do not cut so you can make a border of any size around it.  You will need to snip them out if you don't want to leave them in as I have done here.  On the cream and black card I showed several days ago using this border, I did snip them away right to the edge so you can see how different it makes the piece look.  I added some seam binding in brown, green gem and chalk white and tied a messy bow and glued my porcelain flower on top.  I stamped a sentiment and used the inside die from the fancy tag set and attached it to my bow with some Bakers Twine from the earth tone set.  I added some edge piercing to finish it off and make a really quick card that can be used for any occasion, don't you think?  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue, boy you were on a roll yesterday, bet you will need to get your feet up today but I feel that I not your way. All your demos were wonderful and I only wish my bank balance would stretch to get all the dies. This card is delightful and I need to get the botanical swirls, was too late to order it yesterday. If you want something, I have learned now to order it right away do not hang around. Great to have you back.

Hi Sue,
thank you for your hard work you put in over the last few days - I don't know how you did that, 2 hrs at a time sometimes! And of course you must have done loads of preparatory work. I know you don't think of it as that but I sure appreciate it(and am certain that I'm speaking for loads of us crafters).
Brilliant easel you showed us for all your brilliant cards. This one is no exception.

Hi Sue,
wonderful card just amazing. Love the colours, and everything about it. I was scared to watch the shows, no pennies to spend and I get very envious of all the new goodies you bring. So I had to sit on my hands so to speak. It sounds like I did miss some wonderful dies though. Well maybe next time your on my pennies will have replenished enough. LOL. Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

GM Sue, bet you are shattered today?! Really enjoyed the shows esecially the latter ones. I sent you a card in one of the PM Shows but it got mixed up with someone else's - a lady call Gail I think? - C&C read out my message and showed her card and then read her message and showed my card! I dont mind if she doesn't! Mine was the The Holly & The Ivy one.

Anyway, I just love, love, love, this die - managed to order it elsewhere. Do you think you could put on your blog v. soon the card where you cut the swirl out? - that one really caught my eye.

Take it easy today! Think I would need to lie down in a dark room all day if I were you today!

Morning Sue, This card is stunning, I love the colours together, they complement each other beautifully. I adore this botanical swirl die, I got it in the first hour plus lots more stuff. I absolutely love the flower that you dipped in UTEE, it is gorgeous and goes beautifully with this card, it could have been made for it.
I hope that you can have a well-earned rest today, Sue, I don't know how you did all those hours yesterday, plus an extra hour tagged on at the end. I watched as many as I could and recorded all of them, as I want to try out all the cards that you demo'd. Lots of love from Patricia xx

I really enjoyed the shows I watched yesterday I have lots recorded still to view. Thankyou for showing us how to make those gorgeous roses I have all manner of ideas in my head I think they would not only look fabulous on a card but I want to decorate a box for a friend and she adores roses so perhaps I may try and make some to use on that. Wonderful shows, loved every minute of your last 2 hour one with Martin. I normally watch with the sound turned down, but not this time :-) can't wait for my new dies to arrive and looking forward to reading your blog every day. Love your card and colour combo. Have tried the porcelain flowers and mine just don't come out right, I always end up with big blobs of UTEE lol! Have a good rest today. Maddy

Hi Sue!

Well I was one of the unlucky ones as I was working and was unable to even try to get this die! I do wish Ideal World would stock enough of the stock they are advertising they know how it sells!:( Do you know when they will have more in stock at all?

I love the card with just some of the die pushed out much more effective and flowing!I do hope spellbinders bring more of these out. :)

Managed to get this die & the lattice and then couldn't resist the four pack bundle with the Venetians,Flower & Les Papillons so I really can't wait for them to arrive.Sometime can you explain how to do the flower with the ultra thick as whenever I've tried it, I just end up with a real mess that you couldn't put on a card! Well done Sue, the shows were wonderful, I spent all day channel hopping and watched all your shows. I learnt a lot, now I am waiting (not very patiently) for the dies to arrive. The 4 set bundle with the Rose and butterflies. I just can not wait to have a go making the Rose bud. Today's card is brilliant. Thank you so much for all the inspiration you give us all. You are a star. Hugs Anns

Hi Sue,

I managed to see most of yesterday's shows;which begs the question - where does all your energy come from?

You did sterling work and I hope you are enjoying a well deserved rest today.

Love the card too.

A wonderful card, the swirl and flower are gorgeous! The subdued colours seem just right, but I dare say that your next example with the swirl will be different - and look just as good!
Thank you, Sue

Just found this blog - absolutely love the cards you are making - real inspiration for me to start using all of the dies and cards that I've bought. You always make it all look and seem so easy when you are on C&C.

Hi Sue, I second what your 1st commenter Patricia said, I want what you are on!!!
I have managed to watch and record all your shows, and they were fantastic.
I did manage to get this die, thank goodness and a few others, hope they arrive soon! I also got the other expandable die basic something, I have forgotten.
Janet
ops forgot to say how gorgeous your card is. sorry.

Oh wow, simply beautiful and I must try dipping the flowers - I love the porcelain look it gives. I didnt get this die but did manage to get the pick of the day this time and I am so excited waiting for them to arrive. So is my daughter whose first spellbinder creation was shown yesterday on your show with Dawn and to answer your question she is 22. She plans on making her next card with the cherry blossom dies, looks like your inspiration may have hooked another follower and made a card maker of her Sue.

Hi, where does a person order these dies from, what is the brand name and what shows are u talking about. I am in Canada, and know nothing about any of this but it all looks so intriguing. Can anyone fill me in.

Hi Sue,
Love the way you've used this die. Not sure about brown, but the flower is so beautiful.
Really enjoyed your shows and had such difficulty deciding what I could afford. Truth is I wanted most of it but, as I'm still a novice I had to be sensible!!!!!

Nice one Sue, the simplicity of the Botanical swirls template is great for a quick card. Love the chocolate brown & turquoise together. Wow Sue this one is a real stunner. I love the colour palette, but then you have a real eye for that. You really bring these dies to life and make what was a 'might need to get this' moment into a 'quick get me one now' moment.

Love this card, I fell in love with the die on tv but alas sold out.

I use the leaf die on this card all the time (bitty blossoms) set, such a good die to have

You must be exhausted from your day Wednesday - great viewing, just watched them all recorded

Great tips - good tip of Martins - wait till you have several micro beads them run them through the grand calibur
