Thinking Of You

Good Sunday morning!  Cherry Blossoms for today!  I have had several emails asking about these dies, but until just recently, I didn't even have the set to play with.  I am loving the cherry blossom set though.  I think it is a very useful set and I hope to show you other ways to use it, showing it's versatility.  There is a definite Asian/Oriental theme that is coming back into the market.  I saw it's influence all over CHA when I was there in July.  There are several new sets in this theme in the summer die releases too.  I have used the Awesome Blossoms embossibility on the background on this card.  I inked the edges of the embossed milk coloured card with Antique Linen.  I wrapped a piece of American seam Binding in the Flesh colour around the bottom of the background and taped it to the back.  I cut the cherry blossom twigs out of kraft card and inked them with antique linen.  I glued them in place as if they were coming in the the edge of the picture. (I always think of cherry blossoms this way.  My folks lived in Japan while my Dad was in the service and there was always the block print books in our house that had cherry blossoms in the foreground and Mt. Fuji in the distance!)  I cut two of the Venetian motif, one in milk card, one in pale pink.  I interlocked them by offsetting them (they will clip in to each other) and that formed the base of my sentiment piece.  Next I stamped my sentiment, placed the venetian die over it so I could ink the edge in Spun Sugar.  I removed the die and added a piece of sticky adhesive sheet, then replaced the die in the same place and cut it out.  I used the piercing holes as a guide to cut out the centre circle.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered it with micro beads.  I mounted with foam pieces atop my Venetian motifs.  I added a messy bow tied from the seam binding and a coloured dazzler in the centre.  I went back and cut out an assortment of the flowers that come with the cherry blossom set and added them to my twigs coming from the edge of the card.  I inked them with Spun Sugar.  I added another mat of milk card and used the Cosmic Shimmer pearl PVA glue dots around the edge as an accent to frame and finish my card.  What do you think of this new die set?  Do you like it as much as I do?

It's time for the Comment Game drawing too!  This weeks winners are:
Jan.moogie!!!
Beth Peake!!!
Ria Gall!!!

Congratulations!! Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your postal address and claim your prize.   All for now, Sue x
